Auto-Login Network User

I am wondering if there is any way to auto-login as a network user?

Quit System Preferences.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the System Preferences and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

  • How to auto login multiple users on boot?

I have mac mini and have users with autostart some programs. But autostart is only when i login on this account.
So now only i can login in to each account and when switch to next account. But it is not good.
I need auto login in to all needed user account. How do that?

Yeah, I'm a big believer in just keeping the machine running, but unfortunately the machine ends up freezing up a few times a month and then it hours of agony as the family complains they can't log into their accounts..etc. I'm going to try updating the hard drive to one of the new Seagate Hybride SSD/HDD drives to help speed the machine up overall. No worries, I've been cleaning off the machine trying to make it run a little smoother (2011 iMac 27", 16GB Ram, 2.97 i7) until I can get a new machine that's a little beffier (the new Mac Pro let's just say).

  • Deploy an auto-login user on 10.9.5

I am trying to create an auto-login user on our network of 10.9.5 machines, but the com.apple.loginwindow.plist reverts itself after any change I make (I have tried changing it in terminal and editing it manually). I understand that starting with Mavericks that plist files are now cached, and I believe that this has something to do with it. Has anyone been able to implement auto-login network wide on 10.9.5?

  • Directories - Personal Directory Login - Auto Login?

Anyone know if there is a way for it to auto-login the user when you go to Directories -> Personal Directory Login using CCM 6.0? Currently it prompts for UserID and PIN even though all user information is associated with the phone and PIN.

I dont think auto login is possible. It sucks to know that personal directory (Fast dials) cannot be called fast dials any more...as you have to authenticate using the clumsy interface. (No T9word capability on the interface to input pin or password either)....my customers hate it..

  • Auto login wifi guest network

    hi all,
we running an iPad pilot within our company and I'd like to use the internal wifi guest network. the guest network is using a loghin page with userid and password and a little checkbox to accept the terms.
when i connect with the ipad (and iphone as well) and fill in the required fields it nicely connects. but after sleep or a reboot it keeps coming with the login page and needs the uid/pw/checkbox. I can make the ipad remember the uid/pw and it fills them in the login page but it keeps wanting the checkbox.
there should be some automatic protocol to auto login so I connect to the company wifi just like it is at home (i know, wpa2 at home is completely different, but for the end user is isn't
is there an option somewhere in Iphone config util? Can I pre-deploy guestnetworks with ipcu?
    anyone?
    cheers,
    emiel

This is not an iPad / iPhone issue. This is an issue with the way the network is configured in regards to authentication.
Just a guess, but I'm betting you don't have the cooperation of the IT department in this venture, do you? If you have a separate, secure internal network, You may be able to convince them to allow the iPads access to that network instead. The fact that you're trying to use the guest network tells me that IT either doesn't know about this or has prohibited their use on the company network.
That, or the company contracted out the configuration of the network and no-one knows how to get around it.
This wouldn't by chance be a hotel, would it?

  • Can't login to ML server network user from a client

    Hi,
The computer name on my customer's ML server was changed post OD installation. Now I can't login with network user credentials from a MacBook.
I also see the old server/hostname displayed in workgroup manager under "location" (see attached).
I've tried destroying OD by deleting it in Server app then re-adding it again but it still shows the old name in WGM as shown in the screenshot above.
I suspect this is related to authentication problems. Should I be running a utility like changeDirData.pl to update the old values? If so, what is the syntaxt?
    Old name was: server1.stmarys.lan
    New name is: server1.local
    I ran the following: sudo /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/libexec/changeDirData.pl -i -s 192.168.2.2 -u diradmin -o server1.stmarys.lan -n server1.local
But got an error: cant contact ldap server to get config info

After contacting Apple server support, I was told there were two issues:
1- ".local" cannot be used in a hostname due to conflict with Bonjour
2- Hostnames must have three parts like "server.company.lan" & "server.lan" cannot be used
I wish Apple would inform users with a pop-up about these rules before they waste a lot of time having to re-do everything from scrath. I was lucky enough to have an export of all users.
If these rules are followed from the begining, DNS would auto-configure itself with the appropriate forward & reverse records.

  • How can I restrict Lion to only allow certain network users to login when bound to an Active Directory?

    Hi,
I'm trying to find a way to configure which network users can login to a lab of iMacs running 10.7.4. They're being deployed using DeployStudio, and the Macs are bound to an MS Active Directory by a script that runs as part of the workflow. I'd like to have another script run after the AD binding to permit only users in certain AD groups to be able login to them.
I'm halfway there, in that using dseditgroup I can easily add AD groups or individual users to the relevant group (deseditgroup -o edit -a <domain\\group name> -t group com.apple.loginwindow.netaccounts. After running this I can see the desired groups added to the list in Sys Prefs -> Users & Groups -> Login Options -> Options. However, membership of this group is deemed irrelevant by the fact the radio button above this list for 'Allow these users to log in at login window' is still set to 'All network users' and not 'Only these network users'.
Does anyone know of a way to enable the 'Only these network users' option via the Terminal/a shell script?
    Thanks,
    Chris

I tried that, thinking it was exactly what I wanted, but it still sends stuff as SMS (green bubble).

  • Problems joining Wi-Fi networks that require viewing a redirect page in iOS 8.1.1? Check your "Auto-Login" setting.

Are you having problems joining previously used Wi-Fi networks that require you to view a login or redirect page (say to accept Terms of Use) first?  The problem could be your Auto-Login Wi-Fi network setting.
I found numerous cases where I could not access in-store Wi-Fi networks (Nordstrom was one), hotel networks or in fact networks where you had to first view a Terms and Conditions page or where you had to login via a web form.
These were all networks I had used before.
This appears to be due to the "Auto-Login" setting assuming that once you (re)join a previously known network you can just go ahead and use it without further action. When the iOS device receives an error trying to use the network, it silently drops the Wi-Fi association.
If this is happening to you, follow these steps:
    1) Go to Settings -> Wi-Fi
    2) Select the network you want to join
    3) When a check-mark appears next to the SSID, press the "i" button on the right hand side
    4) Set Auto-Join however you want, but shut off the Auto-Login switch
    5) Now attempt to use the network and you should be presented with the usual redirect page with terms you must accept or where you must login to use the Wi-Fi network in question
This cleared up the issue for me everywhere I had previously been having issues.

Just let me get one thing straight...you don't change don't do this for the PC you have your router plugged in to?
    "For Vista:
    1. Open Control Panel, Network and Internet, Network and Sharing Center, Manage Network Connections
    2. If Wireless, Right click on your Wireless Network Connection, otherwise, Right click on Local Area Connection and click Properties
    3. Highlight Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4)
    4. Click Properties
    5. Tick Use the Following IP Address and enter the IP you want to use for that PC. I would start at 192.168.0.100(D-Link) and work your way up on each additional device. The second device would be 192.168.0.101, the 3rd, 192.168.0.102 and so on. Like I said, different brands of routers use different IP's, so it could be 192.168.1.100 and so on, so you will need to know the IP address of your router first.
    6. Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0 on all pc's and devices
    7. Default Gateway is 192.168.0.1(D-Link) or whatever your router's IP is on all pc's and devices
    8. Tick Use the Following DNS Server Address and enter 192.168.0.1(D-Link) or whatever your router's IP is and click OK.
    9. You will need to do this on all Vista Pc's"

  • Network Users - Can't login without home folder

    Hey everyone,
Got a problem. We upgraded our lab from 10.6.8 to 10.9.3. Preserving our settings and bootcamp by simply upgrading. After getting nearly all machines sorted out with active directory we are still having a problem with 2-3 machines with network user accounts being able to login. If no local home folder has been created prior to upgrading to 10.9.3 then the user cannot login, the login prompt dissapears then re-appears. Any way to fix this?
Here is a run down of the set-up.
Our settings force network users to have a local home folder on the local mac that they are logging into.
Mac OS X server is 10.6.8.
Active directory server is 2012 R2.
Network users without a pre-created home folder on the local mac prior to upgrade cannot login. The login prompt dissapears, then re-appears. No login.
Computers are managed with workgroup manager, as well as apple remote desktop. But no settings are applied, and no login scripts are being run.
Also I have noticed something concerning Mac OS X 10.8.5 and up. And that is in the active directory settings, if you bind to a domain (using active directory and not LDAP), lets say for example:
    mydistrict.maindistrict.net
And you go to add your local active directory district to the Authentication/Contacts search policy eg: Active Directory/mydistrict.maindistrict.net
it will only show: Active Directory/mydistrict/alldomains.maindistrict.net.
It shows a list of all domains for the forest. But it also adds the district that you bound to as the search directory?
Let me use a precise example using actual names.
    Bind to local district: pineville.ketsds.net
Now in search policy on 10.8.5 up to 10.9.3 it displays possible search domains like this:
Active Directory/PINEVILLE/pineville.ketsds.net <- The domain we want.
    Active Directory/PINEVILLE/all-other-domains-in-forest.ketsds.net <--Which is fine.
Which is all fine, but when we select  the local domain for authentication, and contacts search it adds it, but in the overview it says that it is not in our search policy even though it is.
On Mac OS X versions below this (10.6.8 and down, cannot verify for 10.7 as we do not have systems with it) it displays the search domains as:
    Active Directory/pineville.ketsds.net
as compared to  this on 10.8.5 and above:
    Active Directory/PINEVILLE/pineville.ketsds.net
as well as all the other domains, and when you add the local to the search policy it does not give the error that it is not in your search policy. Is there anyway to make this happen on 10.8.5 and above? We have tried everything. Network accounts will login even though it says this, it is just annoying.
Last question is on one computer that we upgraded, we had a problem with the network accounts. Tried deleting the .plist for network preferences, and the Directory services folder as well as the Open directory folder and now it create the open directory folder as locked and any changes made with the directory utility in the search policy is immediatley reverted once we hit apply.
    Summary of questions:
1.) Network users cannot login without local folder created prior to upgrade.
2.) Mac OS X 10.8.5 and above does not correctly add Authentication/Contact search policy domains as it does in 10.6.8 and below.
3.) Active Directory/Open Directory Authentication/Contact search policy settings keey reverting after applying. (Happened prior to deleting .plist files and AD/OD folders in /Library/Preferences)

A particular network user can't login to a mac in a classrom but other network users can. Then the network user can login to other identical macs in same classroom. Anyone seen this before? It has happen twice. Two different teachers in two different classrooms entering the correct user name and passwords and computer won't allow them to login. Then they try in different computers in same classroom and have no problem login.

Yes. I can login with a test user. And any other network user can login as well to this particular mac. Actually the mac has bootcamp and boots into either mac or windows. The same user entering the same login username and password can login into the windows side, but not the mac side.
I had this same issue last semester in another classroom, another mac and a different teacher. This summer I reformatted and imaged that mac and I asked that teacher to login today to that reimagened mac and she had no problem today doing so.

  • Auto-login then Fast User Switch out?

I've got a few programs (e.g. Chronosync) that need to launch as a user upon login. I need these to launch at boot time. Of course, I could auto-login to this account, but that would leave the machine sitting there with an admin account logged in (something I'd rather not do).
Is there any way I could do something like auto-login to this acct at boot and then do an immediate FUS out to the login window?
    Craig

One way to do this is with Automator:
    1) Launch Automator. Make a new custom workflow.
    2) Choose the "run shell script" action. Paste this text into the box:
/System/Library/CoreServices/Menu\ Extras/User.menu/Contents/Resources/CGSession -suspend (all that should be on one line)
    3) Save the workflow as an application.
    4) Go to System Preferences -> Accounts -> your account -> Login items. Make your Automator app a login item.

  • How to hide user id and password for auto login in Analyzer 6.5?

Could anyone tell me is it possible to hide the user id and password for auto login in Analyzer version 6.5 and how? Thanks in advance...

    Sainath,
Referring admin guide as mentioned by Craig is good option.
Let me give you few steps that I did in one of my projects.
Open command prompt and navigate to the path "C:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\DataRelationshipManagement\client\batch-client".. here you can see many see other utilities as well.
drm-batch-client-credentials.exe is the one used to encrypt the userid and password.
open this in command prompt and then choose the application to which you want to encrypt the password.
then remove userid and password from batch script then run it... it does what you want
