Auto Logon with LDAP SSO
Hi All,
I am having EHP1 for NW 7.3 installed on windows 2008 R2 and I am trying to do SSO with ADS.
I am following the steps as below :
1. Created administrator user user1 and disabled "Use Kerberos DES encryption type for this Account" and checked "Password never expire option"
2. setspn -a HTTP/javahost.mydomain.com user1
3. Logged into javahost:port/nwa
4. Generated Keytab file in Domain server:
ktab -a [email protected] -k keytab
5. Imported the keytab into the JAVA system :
http://javahost:port/spnego
Kerberos Realm--> edit --> Keys--> Update Keys -> uploading keytab file --> browse --> selected file and IMPORT --> Save.
6. Activate the REALM.
7. Adjusted the authentication stack:
EvaluateTicketLoginModule SUFFICIENT
SPNegoLoginModule OPTIONAL
CreateTicketLoginModule SUFFICIENT
BasicPasswordLoginModule REQUIRED
CreateTicketLoginModule REQUIRED
-->Save.
8. Did the settings in the browser.When tried to open the URL http://<server>:<port>/XMII/Menu.jsp
I am getting a windows authentication message as in the attached screen shot (Windows_auth)
After that I can see the Logon page
I am able to Login through LDAP User credentials.
But how to by pass Logon page to directly go to Menu page?.
Is there any other settings to be done at Server or net weaver level to Auto Authenticate?

I tried some workarounds which helped to skip Login page.
But I it still prompts Windows security and "Upload Protected Area" boxes to enter credentials as shown in pictures.
Please Help out to resolve this Issue.

I need to be able to run OBIEE using SSO with LDAP to 'reauthenticate' the user and then provide information as to which user groups they are in.
The overall idea is that the user logs in to the 'system' as a whole and is then provided a hyperlink to OBIEE. Behind the scenes, the system login process will set a cookie holding the users name, thus allowing SSO to be used with OBIEE. When the user logs in, LDAP will then be used to determine which groups the user is a member of.
I can get SSO working (on its own) and I can get LDAP authentication working (on its own), but when I try to combine the two I just get user authentication errors.
I suspect that what is happening is that the OBIEE login process is passing the correct username to LDAP (i.e. the one from the cookie), but the IMPERSONATOR password rather than the user one (at this point OBIEE does not know the user password).
Is there any way of getting around this? as far as I can tell the LDAP authentication mechanism requires both a username and password to be passed to it, but since we are using SSO, we only have the username.
Note: is it not considered secure enough to hold the user password as a cookie or as part of a 'GO' URL, which is why we wish to use SSO.

ChrisWe have the init block set up to login to LDAP and authenticate the user. The ID we use is not the user account that logged in to the BI Server, but an id we have that only has the ability to read users and groups.
You probably need to also uncheck "required for authorization" in this init block, otherwise the impersonator account will not be able to authenticate.
To get our group assignment we have a PL/SQL program that uses the ldap utils to connect to the ldap server and get the group membership and return it in a "GROUP" variable (row-wise) back to the BI Server.
I'm a relative newbie to BIEE, so this may not be the best or most secure way, but it is working. -

We are using XI3.1 and trying to find a solution for configuring LDAP single sign on to database and have not been able to find any material on that matter.
Is it possible to configure LDAP SSO to database (Oracle 11) natively? Or is there a third party tool like siteminder that can make that configuration work? Please let me know.

In the CMC > Authentication > LDAP there is an option for propogate credentials at logon time. This option will cause LDAP users to have their username/pw cached in their user account (in fields called DBuser/DBpass). Then you must configure your reports to use these fields. If using reports based of universes you need to set the universe connection to use DB credentials, if crystal then it's a bit more complicated and you may need to log a case to get the instructions.
If using SSO on the front end with siteminder or trusted auth then the LDAP propogate option will not work (it requires users to key in their user/pw).

EDSPermissionError(-14120) problems with LDAP, SSL and Directory Utility
Hello everyone,
Apologies for the repost but I think I may have made a mistake by posting this originally in the Installation, Setup and Migration forum instead of the Open Directory forum. At least I think that may be why I didn't receive any responses.
Anyway, I've been trying to get my head around Open Directory and SSL as they are implemented in Mac OS X Server 10.5 Leopard, and have been having a few issues. I would like to set up a secure internal infrastructure based around a local Certificate Authority that signs certificates for other internal services like LDAP, email, websites, etc.
I only have one Mac OS X Server and it is kind of a small office so I have gone against best practice and simply made it a CA (through Keychain Utility). I then generated a self-signed SSL certificate through Server Admin, and used the "Generate CSR" option to create a Certificate Signing Request. This went fine, but I did have some problems signing it with the CA, because the server documentation suggested that once I signed it it would pop open a Mail message containing the ASCII version of the signed certificate - it did not, and it took me a loooong time to realize that I could simply export the copy of the signed certificate it put in my local Keychain on the server as a PEM file and paste this back into the "Add Signed or Renewed Certificate from Certificate Authority" dialog box in Server Admin. Hopefully this can be fixed in a forthcoming patch, but I thought I would mention it here in case anyone else is stuck on this issue.
Once I did this I was able to use this certificate in the web server on the same machine and sure enough I was able to connect to it with with clients who had installed the CA certificate in their system Keychains without getting any error messages - very cool.
However, I haven't had quite as much luck getting it going with LDAP/Open Directory. I installed the certificate there as well, but have run into a number of problems. At first I could not get clients (also running 10.5.2) to talk to the server at all over SSL, receiving an error in Directory Utility that the server did not support SSL. I eventually discovered that the problem seemed to lie in the fact that the OpenLDAP implementation on Leopard is not tied in with the system Keychain, necessitating some command-line voodoo to install a copy of the CA cert in a local directory and point /etc/openldap/ldap.conf at it, as documented here: http://www.afp548.com/article.php?story=20071203011158936
This allowed me to do an ldapsearch command over SSL, and seemingly turn SSL on on clients that were previously bound to the directory, and additionally allowed me to run Directory Utility on new clients and put in the server name with the SSL box checked and begin to go through the process of binding. Once this seemed to work, I turned off all plaintext LDAP communication and locked down the service by checking the "Enable authenticated directory binding," "Require authenticated binding," "Disable clear text passwords," and "Encrypt all packets" options in Server Admin. However, I am now running into a new problem, specifically that I cannot successfully bind a local account to a directory account over SSL.
Here's what happens:
1) I run Directory Utility, (or it auto-runs) and add a server, typing in the DNS name and clicking the SSL box.
2) I get asked to authenticate, and type in user credentials, including computer name (incidentally, should this be a FQDN or just a hostname?)
3) Provided I put admin credentials in here and not user-level credentials, I get taken to the "Do you want to set up Mail, VPN, etc.?" box that normally appears when you autodiscover or connect to an Open Directory server.
4) I click through, and am asked for a username and password on the server, as well as the password for my local account.
5) When I put this information in, I get a popup with the dreaded "eDSPermissionError(-14120)" and it fails.
Checking the logs in Server Admin reveals nothing special, and while I have seen a couple other threads on this error and various other binding problems:

these have not solved the problem. In the Open Directory user name field I am putting the short username. I have tried putting [email protected] and the user's longname but this fails by saying the account does not exist. For some reason it does seem to work if I bind it to the initial admin account I created, but no other user accounts.
If I turn all the encryption stuff off I am able to join just fine, so I am suspecting that the error may lie in some other "under the hood" piece of software that doesn't get the CA trust settings from the Keychain or the ldap.conf file, but I'm stymied as to which piece of software this might be. Does anyone have any clues on what I might be able to do here?

AndrewHard to tell what is happening without looking at the application
source, knowing what OS & hardware you're using etc. You might want to
try running with different JVM versions to see if it's actually the VM
that is the problem. If you have a support contract with BEA you could
ask support to help you diagnose this.

SAP Library 04s tells us that is not yet possible to automate role replication (or role assigment replication) from ABAP Based back-end to Netweaver Portal. Only manual process for initial upload is possible.

2 - What if I'm not able to write on the Active Directory ? I am still able, at least, to automate role assignment replication from ABAP Based back-end to Netweaver Portal (ie. UME with LDAP) ? Directly from SAP R/3 to EP through UME, without passing through Active Directory since the group field is not maintained in AD.

As I did not read the previous thread I don't know what exactly you are trying to achieve, but I can tell you about what we have done - as far as it is not too late yet.
We use the portal with integration to a BI system. In the ABAP stack we have lots of roles with menu items for hundreds of reports. We want the users to see these roles in the portal.
First we have used the role migration tool of the portal to upload these roles. There is a Java API for executing role uploads from code. You need to create a webservice in the java stack to call this api, and can call the webservice from ABAP.
However it is just a question of time and role size until this will not work at all. Standard role migration is more or less crap, stability is a problem. It also creates a lot of logs in the PCD and thus fills the database with trash. (After a few OSS messages there is now a program for deleting logs + you can turn of logging.) Also upload of larger roles takes up to an hour, and you alwasy have the problem that your portal roles are not up to date during the day.
When I got completely fed up, I have implemented an own navigation connector. When you log on to the portal it will connect to the ABAP stack via RFC, load the role, and generate the portal menu from it. It uses caching, but on every logon it checks whether the role has been updated in ABAP since the last time it was loaded. It is up to date, faster then PCD navigation, and you need absoluetely no periodical synching at all. I cant even understand why this is not offered by SAP per standard!
Drawback is that it will of course only work for the menu items, and only menu items with an "URL-type" are supported. I'm prettry sure however that it would be possible to implement a few other types as well.

SCopenldap is not currently among our tested LDAP servers so I can't verify your LDAP options.
You can packet scan the CMS when it is making LDAP queries and see from the response if it's the right value.
That error also occurs on some version of Oracle CMS DB drivers. If you search our notes DB for ld_preload there is a posted solution for this. I don't have the number off hand

Hello experts,
We have hooked up our BO application with LDAP in our company. In BOE configuration evry thing went fine. But, when the user from LDAP side tries to login into BO it is not accepting their USER ID's indeed they are able to login with their full CN and DN names.

PrashanthThe user search name is the value you should be looking at in the LDAP attributes, that's the one that it will send to LDAP on a logon attempt. If you changed this value after mapping a group, I'm not sure but you may have to remap the group to get the change.
So on the LDAP side verify the user search attribute = the username you expect to login with (i.e. cn, samaccountname, uid, etc)

Issue in Infoview Logon with AD Credentials
Hi All,
I have implemented AD Authentication in BOXI3.1 Environment.
Kinit is working fine and Iam able to logon to Desktop Intelligence and Webi Rich Client without any issue.
But iam facing issue when logging into Infoview. I can logon to Infoview with the [email protected], but not with Username without mentioning the Domain name.
Previously there was spaces in my Username such as Test User and then I have renamed it to Test_User and tried but no luck. Getting the below error when i try to logon with Test_User.
Account Information Not Recognized: Active Directory Authentication failed to log you on. Please contact your system administrator to make sure you are a member of a valid mapped group and try again. If you are not a member of the default domain, enter your user name as UserName@DNS_DomainName, and then try again. (FWM 00006)

You would need to allow your sessions to not time out. After a session times out with out some type of SSO involved it's impossible for our application to identify who the user is when they access an object. This is why you are reprompted for logon.
There may be a way to extend session life indefinitely but it wouldn't be recommended.

Registering a Partner application with Oracle SSO 10gR2

I'd like to ask a question around registering a partner application with Oracle SSO.
I have entered my home_url, logout_url and cancel_url e.g. home_url is https://vevopuitest1.co.uk/vevo_test1 and so on for the other fields.
When I save the details some information is automatically created e.g. Site Id, Site Token etc.
The bit that I am particularly interested in are the fields Single Sign-On URL and Single Sign-Off URL.
For my purposes these fields are respectively: https://cwassotest1.co.uk/pls/orasso/orasso.wwsso_app_admin.ls_login and https://cwassotest1.co.uk/pls/orasso/orasso.wwsso_app_admin.ls_logout
My questions are:
1. Where do these values come from?
2. Can I view them anywhere, say, in Oracle Directory Manager or using ldif queries?
I would like to be able to verify these values.

AndyI'm afraid this won't answer your question completely, but AFAIK in principle it does not matter on which machine SSO is running, as long as it passes the user id and credentials properly through the HTTP Header. Even more: in practice it is very common to have SSO running on a different machine than where your app runs.
So what I would do is find out how to use ADF Faces with SSO. Perhaps someone else can provide pointers on that.

I have a list of 50 user which should be cerated in portal staging(devlopment) machine and should be transfered to
production machine using LDAP
Steps which i followed to create Users
1.Create User Profile with 2 parameters branch and Role
2.I have list user in the Xls file with Username,password ,branch and Role
3.Write a java File which will read the Xls File
4.The users are created in the staging machine for the portal
Steps which i followed in LDAP to tranfer the created User form Devlopment to Production
1.Export the created user from Devlopment (which was moved as .DAT in my local directory)
2.import the user from local direcory to production machine
The Users are imported in the production machine with username and password but the role and branch values are empty
We need a solution for importing the user with role and branch corresponding to each user.

SureshIn Portal 8.1, user name and password in stored in LDAP where as user profile values are stored in database. That is the reason you are not able to see the user profile values.
Check once again whether you can see these values through admin tool. In case,it is not(after confirmation again),you might have to use APIs to do this for you incase you dont want to manage through Admin Tool.

You can but you would need to send it as an html email which is much more complicated.
What you would do is build a page/table construction like below. You would need to use the php variables to echo out the information in the <td></td> cells (example below).

If you didn’t erase the drive and install using you AppleID, then the OS and the purchased apps are still registered to the other AppleID. You cannot change that by logging into iCloud. Apps are forever tied to the AppleID used to purchase/download them.
You have to erase the drive and download/install the Apps using your AppleID.
