Auto page turn with PDF on iPad

Hello!
I have a PDF which on the Mac I have set to a transition and a auto flip of 4 seconds.
When I use it on Adobe Reader on the iPad the auto flip doesnt work.
Does anyone know how I can rectify this, as the client would like it to play without touching it?
Thanks in advance.
Grace

Hi Gracie,
Thanks for contacting us.
You can't do auto flip with latest version of Adobe Reader on iOS.
I would recommend trying "single page" view mode. This mode is actually very similar to the page turning on the Kindle application, so it may be close to what you want but not automatically , it can be perform manually. You can easily swipe from one page to the next . You can also use the "tap zone" on the right and left hand side of the page to tap to flip pages. You can choose "single page" by tapping once on the page content to pull down the toolbars. Tap again on the icon that looks like a newspaper page. From there, tap to select "Single Page".

  • Page background disappears for a moment on page turn in pdf

In indesign my document has a gradient page background (created in indesign) on the master page to make it look like a book. But when the page is turned in pdf, the background disappears for a moment, leaving the page white, then the background appears again; it does this nearly every time page is turned, flashing white. Does this have to do with pdf or indesign layers? I have only 1 layer in the indesign document, and transparency blend space is set to rgb.

Everytime you change the page Acrobat needs to redraw all of the page elements. The dealy is probably a reflection of the amount off video memory available, as much as anything.

  • Autosync a folder with PDF for iPad/iPhone

Is there a way to autosync a folder with iPad?
We'll have a shared PDF folder in our company, and what we need is the iPad to autosync with that folder, because the PDF files can change from day to day. So far we have to choose the specific file on the iPad and delete it, and then again choose the new file, which has been updatet, that's a bit difficualt. The problem is that we are not online with the iPads, and its not possible to be so. So using DropBox or similiar is not possible.
This solution is possible with music, cant understand why is not possible with PDF. Our PDF's are in different folder, so we need a app/solution which makes is possible to choose folders, and not files.
    Hope some can help me:-)

Spotlight can certainly search pdf files I make. For instance, I have a file I created a couple of days ago named "AlaskaAirXmas06.pdf" and if I enter the search term "Horizon Air" that file is the top pick in Spotlight. When I select that file to open from the Spotlight results list, it opens in Preview with the first instance of "Horizon Air" highlighted, and with the drawer open listing all 5 occurrences of the phrase in the pdf. I have a file named "hanover.pdf" which I downloaded off the British Royals' web site, and when I do a search in Spotlight for the word "brunswick" that pdf pops up as the top search result, opening it has the word highlighted. So normal text based pdfs that can be opened by Preview and were created using my Mac are certainly indexed and searchable by Spotlight. The hanover.pdf file was created by QuarkXPress and encoded by Acrobat PDFWriter for Mac. I also have a file that is searched just fine by Spotlight that was also downloaded from the Royals' web site, and it was created on a Windows machine using MS Word and encoded using Acrobat Distiller for Windows.
However, I have in fact opened all the above at one time. Whether that will make a difference or not I don't know. I can search other pdfs from a Mac that I know I have not actually opened. Whether that would be true of pdfs not opened and not created by a Mac I don't know.
You might check your machine to make sure you have this:
    "/System/Library/Spotlight/PDF.mdimporter"
That is necessary for Spotlight to be able to parse pdf files. If you have the importer and have tried re-indexing the folder containing the pdfs, more information about the pdf files themselves might help determine the source of your problem.

  • How do I create an auto page height with nested divs

I am using DW4 to create a website and am using nested divs to create the auto widths for the browsers
How do I make the height auto adjust for differing amounts of content? Different pages have different amounts of content so I want that height to auto flex with it if I can. Currently I give the Container a fixed height, but that is limiting ...

#1 Don't use the Height property on any wrappers or containers that will hold text.  Height is a restriction in every browser except IE -- which treats height as if it were min-height.  People need to be able to increase text size in browser (View, Zoom , Text only) without causing damage to the page.
#2 Why are you using absolute positioning?  Don't you realize this layout method is a huge cross to bare?
    Here is why:

  • Placed mp3 stops playing on page turn in exported pdf

Hi, I placed a sound file in an indesign file, left the 'media' setting 'stop on page turn' unchecked, and still, the file stops when i turn the page in the pdf. I have one button controling the play (mouse release action) and stop (mouseover action) of the file.

hi steve, you're right; from what i've found, the only way that an embedded audio or movie file will keep playing is if you float a controller. The problem there however is that you have to use the controller; that can be dealt with in pdf, but not from indesign, and if one has a lot of media files in their interactive pdf, that's a lot of work after export. from within indesign, that controller can be made fairly small, and it ends up sitting in the top right corner of adobe reader once a media file is clicked; and it only goes away if you close it; and if you open other media files, the contollers start piling up.
what i ended up figuring out as an alternative was that if you export to swf instead of pdf, for some reason the mp3 (i only tried mp3 in swf) keeps playing on page turn (with no controller); and the nice thing about swf is that you can get 'curl' page transitions, and since it opens as an html it's ready to go online.
the document has buttons that upon being clicked, play the file (with nothing popping up); and the mouseover stops the file; and click again plays it.
one thing that would be nice is if one audio file could be placed that buttons on other pages could access cue points within; unfortunately; buttons can only access audio files that have been placed on the page. so instead of having 1 file, accessed at different navigation points, you have 50 files cut from the 1, each with their own button.

  • Making The Weblogic Portal Pages compatible with Mobile Browsers

    Hi All,
Is there any option available to make Weblogic Portal Pages compatible with Mobile Browsers & IPad Browsers.
    Thanks,
    Venkat sarvabatla

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
No, you don't need Office installed. That's the whole idea. Go to File > Export & choose Word (or text, rtf or pdf). The option to "save as" Word has been added in Pages 4/iWork '09 as well as in export.

  • Can I view the same pdf on multiple iPads at the same time with 1 iPad operating as the master (controlling page turns etc)?

Would like to use 4nr iPads as an autocue system. Can I view the same pdf on multiple iPads at the same time with 1 iPad operating as the master (controlling page turns etc) and the others operating as slaves? Can this be done without the use of 3G or a remote Wifi hub? I would appreciate your input.................

Open the document in Acrobat Reader and use the menu Window > New Window.

  • Creating interactive PDFs with page turn, issue with PDF

I recently watch a video on adobe tv titled "indesign : creating interactive PDFs with page turn and flash animation". The video was great, simple to follow with great results, I was able to create a document with interactive page turns that was viewable in a web browser, the next step was to then create the same document but be able to view it in PDF format. I followed the above mentioned video and everything worked apart from one issue once I exported the indesign file out as an interactive PDF it opened up in adobe acrobat pro with no problem but when I went to turn the page it would lag and slow down to the point were it was almost impossible to turn the page, the page turning didn't seem to flow as well as when viewing it in a web browser. The document I am creating is a catalogue and I am happy with the interactive version for the web but I am looking at putting the catalogue on a CD/ USB and need it to open and work with PDF, it would be a great help if anyone could advise me on the reason why the interactive page turning runs so poor in PDF format. I am currently running on a very powerful computer with the adobe CS5 master suit.
Any help would be much appreciated

The page flipping is an SWF effect, so essentially you now have an entire SWF embedded inside a PDF.
If you forget about this garish effect (which, I can guarantee you, by next year will be "so 2012") you can send out a standard PDF which can be easily viewed on otherwise sub-standard computers, and using very straightforward PDF readers, such as the ones currently available for the iPad and its clones.

  • Creating a PDF with automatic page turn after playing a movie

Is there anyway to create a pdf where pages get turned automatically after a movie has been played? Simply put, I need to create a slideshow with both movies and images, and with an automatic page turn every x seconds the movies might be either too short or too long.
Any help will be greatly apreciated!
    best, Jacob

Did you ever figure this out? I would love to know.

  • Navigation with page turning PDF?

Am using CS4 products, don't know whether Acrobat or InDesign is the problem. I can get a flip-book by adding Page Turn transitions in InDesign, exporting to SWF, using Create PDF from file in Acrobat, then poof, I have a PDF with page turns. So far, so good. But, can't get navigation to work, what I want is one Start Over button on the last page that returns user to first page. I suspect it's because the SWF file is considered only 1 page by Acrobat. Any workarounds?
I can get the Start Over button to work in a PDF exported directly from InDesign, but then there can't be Page Turns.
Tried to put the SWF PDF in a portfolio in Acrobat, thinking I could add navigation, but couldn't figure it out.
Any theories would be appreciated. : )

You're correct - PDF files don't support page turning, so when InDesign exports your document places a single SWF into a one-page PDF file, therefore none of the navigation features of Acrobat or Reader will apply.
Navigation *within* the SWF should work as normal.

  • How can I delete pages in a PDF document with Reader for iPad?

Is there a way to do this within Reader? I know you can do it with MAX PDF or PDF Splicer, but I was hoping for a native way to delete - for example - 2 pages from a 10 page document and then resave it to Dropbox, email it, or something along those lines...
I assume if you cannot delete, then you cannot merge 2 documents into one?
    Thanks

I figured the app might have that ability - considering you can add text, highlight, add a signature, annotate and draw - so my thought was why not delete a page, or rearrange for that matter?.. That should be an option, this way we don't have to export to one of the other apps to delete or rearrange..
    Thanks for the help, Bernd.
BTW if anyone is looking - PDF Max can do all of the above and delete and rearrange. With PDF Splicer you can delete and rearrange as well, but it has no other features.
And as for Steve Werner whose comment was deleted after it got to my inbox, it is much more than a Reader, as you can plainly see from the amount of tasks the Reader app can do above.

  • InDesign: Creating interactive PDFs with Page Turn and Flash animations | CSInsider | Design | Adobe TV

This episode gives an answer to a question Rufus hears very frequently: "Can I have page turns and animations created in Adobe InDesign in a PDF?" - The answer is yes. Find out how.
    http://adobe.ly/wmHCbl

Not an expert, but would think you still get 508 compliance by the normal PDF reader controls  -- the page curls are visual extras only.
I understand these 'techniques' perfectly -- but they sure seem awkward.
    - why doesn't InDesign properly emit the combination page turner PDF in one step?
    - why doesnt InDesign show the actual background of the embedded Flash animation as it will be, and why doesn't it allow you to set background transparency right there in InDesign, again showing you what the result will be?
I hope this is done in such a straightforward and clear way, in InDesign CS6.

  • I need to make a pdf document, made in photoshop, 'page turn' and then add it to my website. I know I can do this in indesign but indesign will not open pdf files for some inexplicable reason. Any ideas how I can do it without completely starting again?

I need to make a pdf document, already made in photoshop, 'page turn' and then add it to my website as an e-brochure. I know I can do this in indesign but indesign will not open pdf files for some inexplicable reason. Any ideas how I can do it without completely starting again?

    Hello waitingone,
please try this (all terms are translated from my German programs to my best knowledge):
    1. Did the creator of the pdf file enable the import options?
    2. See import options: choose an other visibility option for your layer.
    3. Let you show the import options and click into one with a black background and try these out (often a gray is selected).
    4. See trimming: try the different modes there. Often works: "Media".
    5. Is the pdf file (eg from Word) correctly created?
    6. Is the PDF file protected? >>> no import possible.
    7. If that does not help, store the pdf file in Acrobat, repair possible errors, run the PDF Optimizer before placing in InDesign.
    Good luck!

  • Realistic Page Turn Effects from a PDF document

Is there a way to create animated page turn effects from within Acrobat or in combination with Flash?
I would like to create books, magazines, brochures that have hot links to other pages within the same document, web links, and multimedia capabilities, but which display animated page turns. Something along the style of http://page-flip.com/products.htm
Ideally, I would like to create the documents in various programs, and then turn them into a PDF with the hot links and multimedia capabilities. I then want them to display as a Flash video with the animated, realistic page turn effects, along with pagination and zoom controls.
There are software programs available that will do this but they cost big $$$$. Is there a way to export/print/save a PDF file to a SWF format and automatically have the page turn effects added?
I have CS4 with Acrobat Pro and Flash Pro. I found a couple of Flash extension that appear to do this but they are clumsy to use and I am not very experienced with Flash and ActionScript. I am looking for an easy way to accomplish this, hopefully, right from within Acrobat.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
    Dan

Adobe CS5 support animated Flash and movies in PDF files, you can visit the home page for detail. When it comes to convert PDF to SWF with Page-Flip effect, Adobe didn't work that good. I recommend convert online at http://www.axmag.com/submit.html , this seems to be free.

  • Can we keep page turn and accessibility in InDesign/PDF CS6?

    Hi there
I have been working on an accessible PDF for awhile now and my client wants this doc look more interesting by applying 'page turn' and animation. Understanding we only could export as SWF for the page turn functionality but at the same time we lose all the accessibility. Is there anyway we can keep both? If it's not, are there any software to do that?
Also, for my understanding, these SWF files are not compatible with iOS device except Android? Ummm its a bit of drag when you can export SWF from InDesign and yet can not be view in Apple??
    Any advice would be appreciated!
    Cheers
