Auto Pitch Bend & Modulation on M-Audio Key Station PLS HELP !!

During recording process, even without a key is pressed from Key Station (41), the Pitch Bend & Modulation is triggered on and off randomly in a minor scale on the track, leaving a blank recorded region with minor vertical bars of Pitch Bend & Modulation.
This happens as well when notes are played giving very interrupted music from Key Board.
Is my Key Station gone? Do i need to reinstall the M-Audio Driver?
If so can anyone show how do i uninstall the M-Audio Driver before i proceed?
Regards
Kajendra

Hi, on my iMac the M-Audio Keystation 49e works great.
A test whit GB and al worked well (Just the USB connection)
Volume, Pichbender, Modulation, Octave up-down, all work fine.
Ore reset your 49e (see your manual for details) maybe there are some internal settings in the Keystation that mess up your connetction.
Try a testing using SimpleSynth (http://notahat.com/simplesynth/
ore Midikeys (http://www.manyetas.com/creed/midikeys).

  • Pitch bend, modulation and velocity sensitivity midi data?

Well, this is post number one, so I hope the answer is not too obvious. I loaded Logic pro into my computer about 6 hours ago (fun, fun, fun!) and about an hour ago I noticed that Logic is not responding to pitch bend, modulation or velocity data.
I am using a JV 1000 as a controller and all of these things work fine when I am using Garage Band or Reason 3.0. I can see the pitch bend data changing the transport window when I manipulate the bender on my keyboard. Also, the Audio Midi setup in the utilities folder shows that my JV 1000 is recognized as the controller.
I have looked through the manuals and searched through the various menus and tabs in Reason, to no avail.
Thanks for your help in advance, Graham

Hi gtrip. I will start with the easy question first.
"Mac OS X: The missing Manual" is my choice of self help book for poor sods like me who have been using a PC for the last 15 years, and really have slim to no idea what they are doing on a Mac. I have found it very helpfull in getting aqauinted with the Mac OS, it is written in plain english but is technical enough to be useful.
I am barely familiar with version 7.1 so I don't really know if this is a known problem in 7.0.1.
    You might try:
-all of the things that Stash recomends a few posting up.
and/or if you have not already done this:
-create a new user, log in as the new user, open logic up for the first time as a new user, which will run you through the set up menus, which will create a new preference file for the new user. Now, if you no longer have the same problem, when opening logic as the new user, it will almost surely be caused by a bad preference file when you are logged in as the other user. Or, you are systematically entering an incorrect choice for one of the options that you are given.
In my case, despite the fact that I imput my Roland JV 1000 as the controller, the preference file was not set up correctly or while setting up the preference file I must have entered an incorrect choice for one of the options.
If anyone wants to correct or add anything to what I have said, feel free and jump in.
I hope this is helpful, let us know.

  • Alt Key Stuck,Pls Help :(

Hi everyone,im experiencing this for almost 2 months, and it doesnt allows me to play game,my keyboard just keeps pressing alt by itself,i need to use a program to disable alt so i can type, but i still cant play and i really use the alt key a lot in games.
    I've already searched a lot but I dont find a solution :(
If someone knows how to fix this, pls help me :(

    Hi,
In addition, this issue can also be caused by sticky key feature.
Sticky Keys is an operating system feature designed to minimize the repeated pressing of keys. People typically trigger this behavior by accident when they quickly press a key many times consecutively.
If you find the Sticky Keys feature particularly annoying, it can be turned off for good.
    1. Click Start → Control Panel → Ease of Access → Change how your keyboard works.
    2. Click “Set up Sticky Keys” (or press ALT+C). The “Sticky Keys setup” section of the Ease of Access Center.
    3. If there is a check in the box labeled “Turn On Sticky Keys”, un-check it.
    4. Un-check “Turn on Sticky Keys when SHIFT is pressed five times”. Screenshot of check boxes in the Sticky Keys configuration screen.
    5. Click the OK button to save your changes.
Then, I suggest you restart Interface Device Access Service to check the results.

  • Logic audio pitch bend

I have an M-audio KeyRig 49 and the pitch bend wheel is not working in Logic Pro.  Is there a setting in Logic that will help it recognize the KeyRig 49 pitch wheel?  I tried Preferences > Control Surfaces > Controller Assignments and "learn" mode but that really messed it up more.
    thanks for any help

I tried Preferences > Control Surfaces > Controller Assignments and "learn" mode but that really messed it up more.
This is the reason for the PB disappearing I guess. When you use the Controller assignment (CA) “learn” or the key-command dialog and learn any external midi message then Logic Physical input blocks that message and bypasses it directly to the Controller Assignments or the key-command assignments.
To fix that you have to find and delete the “learned” string in CA which gets the PB or to (backup and trash) the Logic control surfaces file. Try dragging the Logic Control Surface preference file to your desktop and restarting Logic:

  • How Do I Pitch Bend Audio Instruments Beyond A Tone?

In the EXS24 MK11 Sampler, is it possible to increase the Pitch Bend of an AudioInstrument beyond a tone?. I am using Logic Pro 7 on a G5, with a Korg M1 as my work station and I can't seem to find a way to increase the pitch bend of AudioInstruments beyond a tone.

below the "random" knob... to the left of "Fine" knob
Default is usually set to 2 there, click and hold to increase it to what ever you want...I like "linked" as well so the pitch wheel works up and down the same amount, but you can go to the last setting of "36(3)" which'll give you three octaves down but one up

  • Editing pitch bend wheel's range

I can't figure out for the life of me how to modify the range of the pitch bend wheel on an Edirol (Roland) PCR-30 MIDI keyboard. It's set at at a range of 2 semi-tones and I would like to change it to an octave or even two. The only instruction I can find in the manual refers to a complicated 27-step routine using buttons that don't exist on the PCR-30 (such as SysEx and numeric keys).
Granted this is a basic MIDI rig, but the pitch bend ought to be user-definable. Any PCR-30 vets know the secret?

The pitch bend is set in GarageBand, and is normally limited to 2 semitones. There is a way to increase this, but note that it does not work on GB instruments, only on Soundfonts and QuickTime Instruments.
I can't advise about your particular keyboard: most keyboards have some way of sending CC messages: for example my Evolution has a button marked 'Wheel Assign', and the M-Audio Keystations can use note keys in shifted mode as number keys. You need to see if you can find an equivalent. You then need to send CC128.
Now if you hold down a note and move the pitch bend to its maximum, if you then move the modulation wheel you will hear the pitch of the bent note change and you can set it to anything you want.
When you move to another track you may still get the same increased pitch and you may have to reset it if that's not what you want.
GarageBand will remember this instruction for that track during the session, but once you quit it will revert to 2 semitones and you will have to go through the process again - it will then work on the existing notes as before.
It's a bit of a kludge because GB was never designed to allow for this in the first pace.

  • Setting Pitch Bend in 12 semi-tones or whatever

Does anybody knows how to set pitch bend using software instrument in Logic?
I use a Roland GTR Synth but I can`t find where to set pitch bend (in 12 semi-tones, for example).
Using Reason I have no problem ´cause I get very clear access to the little window display in every synth module I use but I don`t know where to see same parameters in Logic.
    Thanks in advance.

As in reason, it depends on the instrument you're using. Its just that reason is generally a bit more consistent in how it organises modulation parameters on its instrument interfaces. For example, in the EXS24 you do it in the matrix editor bit (not sure if thats what its actually called but its the section which runs horizontally across the centre of the interface). You set the Source (Src) to Pitch Bend and the destination (Dest) to Pitch and use the slider to define (in cents) the range of the pitch you want the wheel to affect. On the ESM there is a disclosure triangle on the bottom left of the interface which allows you to set the bend ranges.

  • Pitch bend

I'm not getting any response from the pitch bend on my roland xv-88 keyboard when playing v irtual instruments in logic pro.The modulations work when i push the wheel up,but when doing a pitch bend it only increases the volume up and down. The boxes in all the instruments i have tried show pitch bend thennumber of notes to bend, but nothing works. The roland is set and works ok alone and with digital performer and garage band.what am i doing wrong?

Frank : i have narrowed it down to the EXS 24. the quick access can be on or off now and most of the virtual sounds are reacting to the pitch bend, except for the EX24 which keeps loading new sounds every time i use the pitch bend wheel. logic seems to be much easier to access its sounds than performer with its sampler,so i usually use it before anything else i have.i just need to be sure everything will work day after day for live playing and recording so i continue to experiment. i don't understand what made the other sounds react to the bend but as long as it keeps goin,im ok with it, thanks again. i would like the EX24 to work also as it seems to be a powerfull sound machine.

  • Pitch bend lag when using internal quicktime synth.

I want to do a pitch bend at the end of a midi note in Logic 8. When i go to listen back in logic it does the pitch bend at the beginning of the next note. I decide to export the project as a midi file and open it in quicktime player. It plays the bend properly. I guess that's cool however I don't want to have to export it to a midi file every time i want to hear how the finished product will sound. Especially if I need to fine tune the pitch-bend.
I've tried messing around in the automation properties and sample accurate automation under audio tab and don't hear any change.
In the environment I have a 16 channel GM instrument patched into the internal quicktime synth.
    Thanks

Did you do the usual stuff, such as reset PRAM?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
There are some sound settings in PRAM, although I think it's only for sound output.
Also, as a test, I would create a new admin user account in System Preferences Accounts pane
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8235.html
Log out and log in to the new account (do not use Fast User Switching). In the new account, try recording something using QuickTime, and note if this problem recurs. If it does not, you have eliminated a few possible causes, such as a problem with the overall system installation or a hardware issue, and isolated the problem to something in your normal user account.

  • Can I alter pitch bend range via plugin for synths that default to  /- 2 semitones?

I am looking for a way to change the pitch bend range to +/- 12 for an AU instrument that does not have the capability to do so within its own settings.  Is there some sort of plug-in I can run "after the fact" and assign to that channel to allow for this type of bend range?
    Thanks!

It only seems to go a minor 3rd, oddly.

Here's a link to the synth page.  I've been back and forth with their support team as well.  They originally thought I wanted to do a bend event after the fact like in Logic.   See below for our exchange.
    Neil,
Let me double check. I do not believe it is possible, but I will make sure and let you know.
    Thank you
    Hi Jeff,
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
I'm actually looking to alter the range prior to recording so that the patch can be properly used with a new type of polyphonic keyboard we recently acquired at our school called a Seaboard.
In order for notes to bend and glissando properly, the pitch bend range for performance must be set at +/- 12 semitones for the start (not the usually 2).  Most of the built in synths in Logic and Mainstage allow for this modification, so I was hoping to be able to make that change for NSK as well.
Because the keyboard bends notes directly from the keys, not a pitch wheel, that range is necessary for it to function properly with a particular synth.
    Thanks again!
    Neil

  • Pitch bend via aftertouch?

Are there any built in instruments in Mainstage (or any decent free plug-ins) that have a parameter for controlling pitch bend with aftertouch? (or is it 'key pressure', y'know, you hold a note and then mash on it to send a controller message?) Will be using Axiom-49 for this.
Going on tour in a week and would like to get this resolved. Not TOO urgent but it would make some songs easier on me.
If you want to witness my inaugural Mainstage tour, go to http://www.54seconds.com. I'd love to meet some other users.
    Stewart

If it's normal channel pressure, you can learn it to a pitch wheel object in the layout, and then map it to Instrument > MIDI > Pitch Bend in the channels you want. The only problem I see is that you would only be able to bend in one direction.

  • A strange effect with pitch bend

I want to make a pitch bend (portamento) that lowers the tone from A to G, i.e. a double half tone. I use my PC keyboard to create the pitch bend. I press the H key and then the 1 key and then I depress the H key. I do this in a separate track and then edit the result into the track in the position where I want the pitch bend to be. However, I have observed the following when I play that track:
    - The pitch bend lowers the tone by only one half tone.
    - However, I can make the pitch bend lower the tone a double half tone by opening any menu in Garageband using the left mouse key and just keeping that menu open for as long as the pitch bend lasts.
Does anyone understand what's going on?
I have Garageband '09 and I've just started using it.

  • Dropouts in Auto Pitch Correction

I've been having problems when using this feature.  I understand (I think) that it might have glitches, or bad clicks when I'm auditioning the possible solution.  However, when I execute the process to actually "Apply" it to the wav file, I don't understand why I'm still getting BAD clicks.  I mean, as far as I seem to understand, if the processing action takes a little longer so as to create a clean result, then so be it.  What I don't understand is why I'm getting so many "clicks" in the final result.  Does it have something to do with latency?  If so, then why don't I have the same issue processing other FX?  I'm also sure I have the correct Key Sig dialed in, AND I've got a pretty darned good singer.  That's the only other factor that I can think of that would/should cause such an issue.
    HeP Me?

    Durin,
Thank you for your consideration.  I just had another very unproductive conversation with support.  He sounded like a govt official selling used cars!  After I explained to him that the settings I used for Attack, and Sensitivity were based on recommendations from the user manual and the margins they recommended for best results.  So, I asserted that, if indeed, I was using the recommended settings I SHOULD NOT be having these kinds of problems.  Furthermore, as I mentioned in my original post, it was a beautiful track at 24/48, with a really good singer; so it wasn't as if the algorithm had to perform magic to give me a good result, and I'm POSITIVE that I used the correct key sig.  So, he gave me some gobbledygook that if I'm not getting my desired results then I need to try different settings.  I hung up in his face I was so exasperated.  I had copied the original Chat session, but didn't paste it anywhere, so I lost that too.  But if this is par for the course, then, I guess you'd be wasting your time.
I can send you a short sample of the clip that demos another distortion problem I had which I think the Auto Pitch feature was causing during the processing.  The key sig was F# Major, and I had the Attack/Sensitivity on 5/134 respectively.  I also had the samples on 4096.  Is that reasonable?  Does it work better on simple Chromatic tuning?  I would think I would get more accurate results if I applied the exact key sig.
    Thanks Again.

  • QUICKTIME synth pitch bend range in LOGIC PRO

i try to set the pitch bend range for QUICKTIME in logic when making GM midi file. I setup the CC100 CC 101 CC 6 , but QUICKTIME synths dose not react the pitch bend range setting , still the 2 semitone range .
this is what i set in message window:
    CC 101 (RPN MSB) 0
    CC 100 (RPN LSB) 0
    CC 6 (DataEnt MSB) 12
But when I export the midi file with my CC 101 ,CC 100 , CC 6 setting , I play it by QUICKTIME , it 's OK
So anybody here how what wrong with this ?
    Thanks !!

i want to change the pitch bend range so that it goes really high.
There is no such thing. Logic only knows about the whole 14-bit pitch bend value range. It has no idea what parameters or instruments that data is controlling.
So, for instance, if you are using the ES2, it's in this that you set the pitch bend range (ie, make the whole 14-bit pitch wheel data correspond to +/- 2 semitones, or +/- 2 octaves, or whatever.
So it's a function of the instrument you are using, not Logic.
Look at the pitch bend range parameter in whatever instrument you are using.
