Auto-recovering of Portlets

Hi,
we are displaying some information from Informatica onto the WebLogic Portal 8.1
SP2.
Recently, we noticed that the Informatica Portlet goes down frequently and does
not recover the connection. We are forced to restart the whole portal!
We are using Informatica's API to make calls to their engine and fetch the reports
the user is interested in. The WebLogic Portal side of the logic is extremely
thin. Their API is a black box to us and does all the magic.
I am wondering if there is a way in the Portal to make the Portlets recover by
themselves when the dependent system is available.
We have the auto-recovery turned on for JDBC connections and such, but for this
one, we are not sure how to handle it.
Any help is greatly apprecited.
Thanks,
Eric Comer

The one thing I know is that if you do Insert and the insert worked successfully the form is reseted by the procedure doReset or onReset. This works fine.
But if you don't hit the Insert button or you are in Update and Query mode and you change the tab or the page the edit fields of the form are not reseted at all.
Would be interesting for me to if there is a solution to this problem.
Thanks.

  • PS CS6 Auto Recover???

Was asked to troubleshoot a Win 7 PS13 (CS6) crash today - first time to my knowledge PS has ever crashed! On restart, no Auto Recover option. All work lost. Did some checking.
    Found two folders:
    1. On the boot disk, found Users\xxxx...\....\AutoRecover
    2. On the exclusive scratch disk - set on G: - found the folder G:\PSAutoRecover (as well as the PS temp file in the root of G:).
Both the AutoRecover folders were empty.
Set auto save time to 5 minutes... Rebooted. Restarted PS and created a new file - test01.psd. Saved it. Did some work, didn't save... kept checking... (played games for 15 mins). Checked. Both AutoRecover files remained empty.
Crashed the system (forced shutdown). Auto recover option and the test file was not showing up in the recent files list... opened the original test01.psd. No work subsequent to the original save showed up. Nor any recovery option. Did some more work on the file... just checked... both the AutoRecover folders are still empty.
    (Just closed PS and saw that the PS temp file deleted itself. Both the AutoRecovery folders remain - empty.}
    So, my questions are:
    1. Is there a 'Permissions' attribute i need to set? Or...
    2. Is the AutoRecover messed up? Or...
    3. Is the installation messed up and should i advise a reinstallation?
    TIA....

As some users have found, for some unknown reason, the Autorecover functions seems to work only when scratch drive is set to C.
Take a closer look at his system info, Curt.  It IS pointed at the startup volume.
TorQue[MoD], I compared your system info with my own, as I have a Windows 7 x64 system that does not have the problem (and in fact auto-save recovery saved my bacon a few times when I had 3D rendering crashes recently).
First and foremost, why are you running 13.0 when 13.0.1 has long since been released?
If it can help, here's a detailed list of what is different between our two systems:

  • Why doesn't PS have auto-recover?

This is probably the one thing about PS that bugs the crap out of me. If Photoshop crashes while you are working something, it is lost forever. I was working on a digital painting a couple of days ago, and I went to save it, and PS crashed.
Every other program (Word, Powerpoint, Excel etc.) has an auto-save/auto-recover feature. Why doesn't PS have one? It seems silly for it not to.

This has been discussed in several other threads, so do a search. As far as I'm concerned any such request doesn't make sense given how PS currently works and how the file format is structured. There's simply no realistic and safe way to save potentially large files in a few (micro-)seconds before a crash nor would that work as an auto-backup. Too many external factors and constant disk activity would have other negative side-effects... If you get my meaning: It's one thing to save a few kilobytes from a Word document in a few blips, but a totally different one shuffling around gigabytes.

  • PS CS6 Auto Recover??? Posted earlier but seems to have vanished

Hi... posted this earlier but the problem/question seems to have vanished... so, reposting.
    (Just closed PS and saw that the PS temp file deleted itself. Both the AutoRecovery folders remain - empty.}
    So, my questions are:
    1. Is there a 'Permissions' attribute i need to set? Or...
    2. Is the AutoRecover messed up? Or...
    3. Is the installation messed up and should i advise a reinstallation?
    TIA....

    Neil...
Think you can somehow help... Have done the following, again today:
    1. Uninstalled the entire CS Suite. This includes registry and folders
    2. Ran the Adobe CS6 Cleanup tool - twice. Once for the entire suite and a second time for PS
    3. Ran a registry clean up program
    4. Did a Disk defragment - not really important, but still
    5. Rebooted between various stages...
    6. Reinstalled CS6 Master Collection minus some programs which are not needed such as Flash, AI 32 bit, etc. But installed both versions of PS
    7. Validated using PS
    8. Started - separately - both versions of PS. Set scratch to E drive (primary partition - 100GB) and Autorecover to 5 mins
    9. Ran both versions of PS and opened and modified a file
In each case, the 'PSAutoRecover' folder was created on the scratch drive - E:\ alongwith the PS temp file. But the 'PSAutoRecover' folder never got populated.
Must be something unique to this system but can't figure out what. It can't be a permissions issue because both the scratch file and the autorecover folder are being created.
BTW... all Adobe entries in the config.sys startup are disabled - except for the Adobe CS6 Service Manager. But can't be those either as they are all related to updates, Acrobat, etc.
Yet, putting the primary scratch on C;\ solves the problem. However, as both Curt and you have tested, that should not be an issue...
(Have not been able to check on any other system as this is the only one that has CS6.)
    System specs: Intel i5 processor, 12gb RAM, 64bit Win 7, P-55 USB3 Motherboard
Grateful for any suggestions / ideas...
    Cheers...

  • Auto recovered files

I have been working on a document within Microsoft word when it shut down unexpectedly. Foolishly I closed down the auto recovered file without saving my changes. The file in question isn't within my trash folder is there anyway of recovering the 'auto recovered' file.
I realise this is an absolute school boy error but any help would be hugely appreciated
    Thanks Gaz

If it was a new file and you never save it then it's gone. Sorry. Even with autosave feature on you should be in the habit of periodically manually saving documents as you work.

  • ASM auto recover from I/O Error

My question is in ASM: Is there a way to have it auto recover when there is I/O errors? In my environment we have ASM on raw devices and the I/O paths were not available so ASM shutdown all I/O to diskgroups, which in turn caused the Database using that ASM to crash. What I want to know is, when ASM detects the I/O errors, will it continue to try I/O for a given period, and if so can that period be defined by a parameter in the init.ora?

When there are I/O failures to multiple spindles in a diskgroup (that is, ASM can't isolate the failed disk and throw it out of the diskgroup or there are no other accessible failgroups left for this diskgroup,) ASM shuts down immediately and takes dependent instances with it to prevent damage to the database.
If you think of it, the only way your database can be protected from corruption and work loss under these circumstances is to stop all attempts to write anything to the failed path and shutdown immediately not waiting for the path to recover. If you do wait and the path does not recover, more work might be performed in the database while this wait times out and it will be lost because the database will ultimately crash anyway. So the earlier you shutdown, the less crash recovery you'll need and the less workload you will lose. This also minimizes the chance that some data makes its way to the physical storage and gets corrupted because of malfunctioning controller.
So the answer to your question is no, it will not retry beyond what the OS I/O layer will under the hood.

    Vladimir M. Zakharychev

  • Auto recover tweak

currently auto recover data is saved to the location of the disk swap-
would it be possible to offer the choice of another location to protect against swap disk failure (which would take down ps6 and the recovery data?

Thanks Rick, I did check the folder in which the original .cp
file is saved (I assume that is what you meant by project folder,
please correct me if this is wrong) - however I didn't see any TMP
    files.
Are these files usually hidden? I will have another look when
in the office tomorrow. I am disappointed that there is no auto
save function in Captivate (wish form here I come) and am annoyed
at myself that I have become so accustomed to this in other
programs that it didn't occur to me to hit CTRL+S every few
    minutes.
Anyway, if it is gone, its gone. I'm sure the revised content

  • DotNet Web Controls 3.0 Auto-refresh Adaptive portlet javascript error

    Hi-
I am getting this javascript error: "A Runtime Error has occurred. Error: 'PTLoader' is undefined", when trying to run a Auto-refresh portlet in Plumtree 6 with DotNet Web Controls 3.0

PTLoader is a separate JS library; not part of the .NET Web Controls. I expect that you are using this JS object but have not put the required JS file on the imageserver.

  • Auto-Recover?

    Hi,
Just had captivate crash on me and I hadn't hit save for an
hour . . . and just lost a whole lot of work.
When it re-opened there was no option to recover the work
like you get in MS Office.
Does anyone know if there are any temp folders where my
project may still be lurking or if there is an auto-save option in
    captivate?
    Thanks in advance.
    Matt.

  • Auto clear for Portlets

When I insert data into a Form (exposed as Portlet) and then come back to that Portlet, the data I inserted can be seen in the Portlet. How can I ensure that it is cleared every time I insert data sucessfully or atleast when the page is refreshed?
    Thanks.

    Thanks.

  • Plugin or action to Autosave or Auto-Recover files??

I know Adobe hasn't seen fit to include an autosave function in any version of Photoshop. I consider that the height of arrogance and stupidity. Some will argue the time it takes to auto-save files doesn't justify it's inclusion. The time and effort in creating the work is equal justification for such a feature. Why should I have to remember to save every 10 minutes or so when I have no idea when the silly program will suddenly crash on me for no good or explained reason? Why should I be put through that kind of stress that will affect my creative workflow?
As an alternative it would be helpful to find some third party software, plugin that would do the same thing. It would be good if it could be set to a timed response. An action might do it but it still require manual activation. Perhaps someone knows of a script that could be written? Any ideas or suggestions other than "tough it out" and "you can't do that, too bad" would be appreciated.

    Control-S is not a plug-in and not a script.
Of course it is not. I was taking a bit of a license there. However, it is the answer to the problem, is it not? It's simple, fast, and you know that you will have an interruption, when you invoke it, so you can pause, and not get caught in the middle of an intricate Selection, or some other operation, where you might, in fact, loose all of the work/time that you have invested.
That is why Adobe has chosen (for all these years) to not implement an AutoSave.
As the program can never be sure when you are done working on something, or are just relaxing your hold on your stylus, it would never know when it was "safe" to AutoSave. Some of my Selections take hours to create. I'd hate to loose them, because I was not done yet, and the AutoSave kicked in during that Selection, only saving part of it.
For tiny, simple images, it'd not likely be a problem. Some would likely benefit. I'd have it disabled most of the time.
As I pointed out, there are major differences to what is being AutoSaved, between Premiere and Photoshop. Still, many editors turn AutoSave off, because the every 5 minute (default time) pause disrupts their workflow. Even on my very fast, robust workstation, a Save can take 30 sec. on some of the images.
No, the manual use of Ctrl-s is the answer. Every NLE users learns this, even with AutoSave. Well-timed Save_As operations can be a blessing too. Nearly every PS user knows about Crtl-s and most incorporate it into their workflow.
Sorry the the humor did not work. I will do better in the future.

  • Auto save and auto recover of front panel controls/indicators values

i just want that when i exit from the VI's front panel all controls and indicators current values get saved automatically and when i get back into this vi,those values get recovered automatically.
Like if i incremented numeric control value from 1 to 5 , when i exit from the vi the value 5 get saved automatically and when i get back into the vi ,it shows the recovered value 5 to me automatically.
    best regards

    I'm Back
I was mistaken when I said the you could select to save either the controls or indicators or both in the Open G Vi's, They are hard wired for both. I made minor changes to these VI's for my app.,  because I only needed the controls to be saved. The example I am providing uses the Modified VI's, but I've also included the originals.
    Modified
    Read Panel from INI.vi
    Write Panel to INI.vi
    Originals
    Read Panel from INI.vi
    Read Panel from INI__ogtk.vi
The ability to select either or both could easily be implimented into these Vi's using a case selector and an enum wired as an input
    Controls only
    Indicators Only
    Both
Incase you don't have the OpenG toolkit I've provided the necessary files for this example to function
Extract the zip file to your User.lib directory then open Usage.vi
    Hope this helps you

  • Recover an unsaved auto recovered file

I was using word 365 (university) when my macbook pro shut down due to lack of battery. I recovered all the files just fine when logging back in by telling it to open all the iwndows that had previously been opened.
However, I continued to work on my file without saving it (it's now an autorecovery doc). When the same happened again a few days later and I asked it to open up all open windows, it didn't come back up.
Using Disk Drill, I found a file that seems to contain some of the info I had but I have to pay to get it to recover it and can't tell if the whole file is there (seems it may just be that first bit, the first autorecovery).
I basically want to know if there would be a copy of my whole file anywhere on the system because, if so, I can take it into a computer shop and get them to get it for me. Unless there's a fairly simple way I could do it myself (have already looked under the /var/private section and it's not there - disk drill seemed to pick up a lot of docs that weren't there actually, some from a very long time ago).
Thank for any help/suggestions (I know it was stupid not to save it).

  • Mac Word 04: Recover saved file

I chose all the text in one document and then deleted it, started writing new text and when I was done I hit the disk in the upper left corner instead of save as. Now the document I saved replaced the old one.
Is there any way I can get the original document?
I know about the auto recover, but every time I open up "January" the new document I saved is there without the info I compiled for the "January."
    Am I SOL?
    Thank in advance.

You do keep regular backups don't you?

  • Flash CS5.5 Auto-Saves Even When Auto-Save is Turned Off In Preferences

So I'm using Adobe Flash Professional CS5.5, and in the preferences, I have the "Auto-Recovery" set to "5 minutes", and it's turned OFF. However, about every minute or so, my projects auto-save. It's annoying because it freezes it for about 2 seconds. It's especially annoying when I'm in the middle of drawing something or doing something like that. It screws me up, and it's annoying. It's DEFINITLEY turned off, and it auto-saves for me still. Yes, I KNOW it's definitley auto-saving, because the asterisk (*) in the project title disappears after it's done loading for 2 seconds every minute. Help. Thanks.
