Auto redial fails on the second attempt
the new feature on the version 7.2.60.103 automatically redial the contact if the first attempt wasn't successful. however the second attempt made automatically will result in the call being dropped.
Hey Carolyn,
Thank you for your reply. I tried resetting the SMC but I still have the same issue.
It doesn't really matter if I put it to sleep from the Apple Menu or if I close the Lid. It always works the first time, but never the second time. What happens is that it stops responding directly after "getting" the sleep signal (either by closing the lid, then the whole screen is black and won't respond, or by choosing sleep from the apple menu, then the screen is not black but nothing responds). In both cases, nothing works, and I have to force the macbook to shut down (by holding the power button).
Amazing thing, the fan gradually goes to max speed when this issue occurs (always).
I never installed or used any new applications except one single update which required the system to restart (Safari 4).
Cheers!

I get lots of missed calls on my iPhone 5. Caller's first attempt goes straight to my voicemail but the second attempt gets through. I have proved this with my home landline too. Any ideas?
First thing you need to check is if you have do not disturb on to find this out got to settings-do not disturb and tap on it and turn it off this should work

Webpage opens only on the second attempt
Hello,
I am on MacBook Air OS X 10.9.3. There is a strange and annyoing behaviour with Safari opening www.spiegel.de - a popular german news site - and only this site. It always needs a second attempt to open this address in Safari Browser.
On my MacBook Air it is reproducable:
1.) Starting Safari (Version 7.0.3)
2.) Opening a new window with "Command-N" and enter www.spiegel.de:
3.) After pressing return key - nothing happens - site will not load and window looks like has been re-opened freshly:
4.) Entering www.spiegel.de a second time and pressing return key, now the page will be loaded:
There are no extensions activated in Safari and Ggogle is set as search engine in the address line.
Can someone help to solve this problem?
Thanks,
MarkusHello, I don't understand why the steps in the following make the problem disappear but finally it worked:
In Safari: Switching “Do not preload Top Hit in the background” on. (in Safari: "Safari->Preferences .../Smart Search Field/:")
In Safari: Exporting all bookmarks (in Safari: "File->Export Bookmarks …”)
In Safari: Deleting all bookmarks, Top Sites, Cache and Cookies ("Safari->Reset Safari ...)
In Terminal:
cd ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari
rm Cache.*
rm fsCachedData/*
rm ./Webpage\ Previews/*
rm com.apple.Safari.SafeBrowsing/*
Quit Safari and starting Safari.
(For testing: entering "www.spiegel.de" in the address line: no "Top Hits" are displayed anymore and the page is loading without second attempt. Success!)
In Safari: Importing the bookmarks again and removing the the particular bookmark that was displayed formerly in "Top Hits". -> Test 6. is still successful.
Would be interesting to know more about the Safari "Top Hits" feature. Yes, i know it helps preloading pages - but what sense does this make to preload pages (cookies and data) whenver i enter a simple prefix "w" "ww" "www" ... in the address line ?!?
Especially like in my case "Top Hits" feature and the algorithm in the background does the job so bad that it determines allways pages as proposals for "Top Hits" that i did not use for a long long time and there were much better matches in my bookmarks with prefix "www".
Maybe someone knows more about the obscure "Top Hits" feature? -
I have a webpart that I'm using to display a tree of folders and files from a SharePoint list. When a folder is clicked, some client side code is used to expand the contents of the folder (the code queries the SharePoint list for any child items of the folder).
The code works the first time the folder is clicked. However, if I then click on a sub folder, the code fails. If I click on the sub folder a second time, the code succeeds. This pattern continues - every second time I call my function, it fails.
E.g.
First Click (clicked on Guides), which succeeds, and expands the Guides folder. Second Click (clicked on "In Progress") (fails)
Third Click (clicked on In Progress) (succeeds)
Any ideas why this might happen?
My code looks like this:
var _dweb;
var _dlist;
var _dwebId;
var _dlistId;
var _dfolderUrl;
var _dchildContainerId;
var _dactionContainerId;
var _dlistItems;
var _rtdocsJsInQuery = 0;
function expandorcolapsefolder(webId, listId, folderUrl, parentElementId, childContainerId, actionContainerId) {
var parentElement = $(("#" + parentElementId));
var childElement = $(("#" + childContainerId));
if (parentElement.attr("expanded") == "0") {
parentElement.attr("expanded", "1");
childElement.css("display", "block");
} else {
parentElement.attr("expanded", "0");
childElement.css("display", "none");
return;
if (childElement.attr("dataretrieved") == "0") {

function GetData(webId, listId, folderUrl, resultsElementId, actionContainerId) {

_rtdocsJsInQuery = 1;
_dchildContainerId = resultsElementId;
_dactionContainerId = actionContainerId;
_dwebId = webId;
_dlistId = listId;
ShowActionContainer(actionContainerId);
try {
var context = new SP.ClientContext.get_current();
_dweb = context.get_web();
_dlist = _dweb.get_lists().getById(listId);
var query = new SP.CamlQuery();
query.set_viewXml('<View><OrderBy><FieldRef Name="Title"/><FieldRef Name="FileLeafRef"/></OrderBy></View>');

Upload and Crop User Profile PhotosI fixed this problem by initialising the clientcontext object with a URL (rather than using the get_current property). This suits my needs, as the web that the page the webpart is on, won't always be in the same web as the list.
I'm still unsure why "var context = SP.ClientContext.get_current();" fails every second time?!
Here's the snippet of code I changed, for others reference (namely "var ctx = new SP.ClientContext('/weburl');"):
function GetData(webId, listId, folderUrl, resultsElementId, actionContainerId) {
if(_rtdocsJsInQuery==1)
alert('Please wait for the previous action to finish, before trying again.');
return;
_rtdocsJsInQuery = 1;
_dchildContainerId = resultsElementId;
_dactionContainerId = actionContainerId;
_dwebId = webId;
_dlistId = listId;
ShowActionContainer(actionContainerId);
try {
var ctx = new SP.ClientContext('/eog');
_dweb = ctx.get_web();
_dlist = _dweb.get_lists().getById(listId);
var query = new SP.CamlQuery();
query.set_viewXml('<View><OrderBy><FieldRef Name="Title"/><FieldRef Name="FileLeafRef"/></OrderBy></View>');
query.set_folderServerRelativeUrl(folderUrl);
_dlistItems = _dlist.getItems(query);
ctx.load(_dweb);
ctx.load(_dlist);
ctx.load(_dlistItems, 'Include(ID,Title,DocIcon,_dlc_DocIdUrl,DisplayName,FileSystemObjectType,FileLeafRef,ServerUrl)');
ctx.executeQueryAsync(QuerySuccessful,QueryFailed);
return true;
} catch (e) {
alert("Failed to execute query... " + e);
HideActionContainer(actionContainerId);
return false;

VM-605 auto redials when pressing the front panel.
I just got this VM-605 for my Bold 9700 and when I follow the instructions to Press and hold the front panel until you heaer a beep... to make a call, the VM-605 automatically redials the last called number rather than listening for my command.
Anyone come across this?
From reading this forum, this product seems like a real hit and miss.Hey curtistimmer,

I have just encountered a problem with my vm-605 whilst toying around with it. The thing froze up and all the lights come on.
If you look at the back of the device just to the left above the label is a hole. Gently poke with a paperclip until you here a faint click.
This has fixed my problem!!

I can provide specific instances if needed. This seems to happen almost every time. The incorrect sites do not appear to be of any specific type.
I'm also curious why the production version of Firefox jumped from 3.6.x to 8.0. Maybe I've installed a still-buggy beta version, but not on purpose.cor-el,
Several additional observations which may be relevant:
1. The finger of suspicion seemed to point at Firefox 8 because IE7.0 didn't display the same symptom of redirecting Google search to the incorrect website. IE7.0 appeared to continue functioning normally.
2. When I ran a full scan using Symantec 10.1.6.6010 yesterday evening it found about 30 infections. Among them was the immediate cause of my annoyance, an infection that presented as "XP Home Security 2012". May have been Trojan.Gen.2 which showed up in multiple copies. Symantec also found the Windows firewall turned off, which may have been my error but I'm pretty careful about keeping tools like that, active. It's on now. However the problem with Firefox 8 remained. I can supply the Symantec scan results if that would be helpful.
3. Then I ran MalwareBytes Anti-Malware. It found about 5 infections and cured them. That fixed whatever was causing the problem with Firefox 8. I can supply the MalwareBytes log if that would be helpful.
4. A scan this morning with Kaspersky's TDSSKiller didn't find anything.

ICal syncs at the second attempt!
Hello everyone. I updated my iPhone 4 to OS5. After this, I have a strange problem with iCal.
When I add an event on my iPhone, it appears on my MobileMe server, but NOT on the iCal calendars on my old G5 (OSX 10.5.8) and not on my MacBook Pro (OSX 10.6.8). But, and this is what is strange, if I EDIT the event on the iPhone, it appears soon on both the computers.
Quite the same in reverse: if I add a new event on one of the computers, it appears on the MobileMe server AND in the other computer, but NOT in the iPhone. As soon as I edit it from the computer, it comes on the iPhone, too.
I already did reboot on the iPhone, but it is always the same.
Any suggestion? Isn't it very strange?
Many thanks, Lorenzo.I just updated iPhone to OS 5.0.1 and the problem is solved!

Above is the first error you posted on this file.
1. Open the file "C:\ACMEBicycle.java" then go to line 14, and start looking at the code directly above it.
2. Verify that each statement above it ends with the semi-colon. You may have to go all the way up to the top, but my guess is it will be within 2-3 lines above line 14.
Post a few lines of code that come right above line 14 - but NOT your whole source file, please. -
Workspace page doesn't render on the first attempt, but on the second
We have a clustered environment where users log into the Big IP load balancer. Local users are able to access the Workspace URL without a problem from within the company. Users out of state and out of the country are not able to connect successfully on the first attempt about 85% of the time, but are able to on the second attempt after killing their browser session. Their session just hangs without rendering the login screen on the first attempt. They are usually able to log in without a problem the rest of that day. We have performed some tests and asked a few users to bypass the load balancer and hit the servers directly, and they have a better success rate of receiving the log in screen.
I am a local user and this is also an issue when trying to connect remotely to the Workspace page. It eventually times out and I receive the following message:
"_execScript::Error loading file './js/com/hyperion/bpm/web/common/format/Format.js' Error The operation was timed out".
Has anyone ever experienced this issue? I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!Hello L Swarz,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing when downloading your purchased song to your iPod nano.
I am not sure if you have tried these specific steps, but I recommend downloading the purchased song to iTunes on your computer using the steps in the following article:

The subject heading says it all: Distiller will suddenly close/crash the *SECOND* time I open a file for converting to PDF.
But I think I have a clue why this is happening. Typically, I use Distiller to convert EPS or PS files into PDFs. Also, almost without fail, I embed the required fonts (exclusively Type 1) directly into the EPS/PS files (using the required PFA format) so no local fonts on my computer are needed to be looked for by Distiller to be embedded in the resulting PDF; they're already in the EPS/PS files.
But yesterday, I attempted to convert some EPS/PS files to PDFs using Distiller in which I had NOT embedded the Type 1 fonts (in PFA format, of course) in the source EPS/PS files. The first such conversion would work (in which I select "Open" and choose an EPS/PS file for conversion), but after that initial conversion, the *SECOND* time I clicked on "Open" (open file), Distiller would immediately close/crash.
I then searched the web for answers, and discovered some people were having trouble getting Distiller to initialize if any of their computer system fonts were read-only. So, I went back to my EPS/PS files and embedded the required Type 1 (PFA format) fonts into them, and then—magically—Distiller worked without a hitch: I could open and convert any number of them in succession, with Distiller never closing/crashing.
So, I concluded the reason that Distiller had been crashing upon the second attempted opening of a file (again, simply by pressing the "open" button to search for a file to convert, *not* after selecting a file) must have had something to do with Distiller scanning my computer's installed fonts when there was no embedded PFA font to reference, and a read-only font on my system was causing the problem. However, I looked in the two logical places where my fonts should be located (c:\psfonts and c:\windows\fonts), but found *no* font files' attributes set to "read-only" So, I'm stumped.
I'm using Distiller Pro 10.1.1316 (acrodist.exe) on a Win 8.1 machine. I've found similar posts, going back to 2004, about Distiller immediately crashing after opening when some fonts are read-only; I haven't yet found a post about anyone successfully using Distiller to convert one EPS or PS file to PDF, and then having the program crash when the "Open" button is pressed subsequently. Any clues, anyone?Never heard about the crash and that does not sound normal. Be sure to do the updates to Acrobat in case that resolves the issue. You might also check the font settings in the settings file and check to ignore the error if the font can not be embedded and Distiller should use what it considers to be the closest system font.

27" iMac only wakes from sleep on second attempt
My 27" iMac, as the title suggest only wakes from sleep on the second attempt. If I wake the mac in the usual way(magic mouse, keyboard or power button), I hear the hard drive start but the screen stays blank. If i then press the power button it will put the mac back into sleep then if i then wake it up again everything comes on fine. This only seems to happen if the mac has been sleeping for longer than a few minutes, but it does happen every single time.
I've obviously checked that the bluetooth devices are allowed to wake the machine. Ive been looking through various forums and haven't come across anyone with the same problem as me so far.
Ive already tried resetting the smc,pram etc to no avail.
Any ideas on what could be the problem?
Thanks
Message was edited by: ScreamingMusingsSorry, I get it now.
If you are using the Screen Saver prior to auto-sleep, then try disabling it to see if that helps.
If not then the only other thing I can suggest is to backup and reinstall the OS X or call Apple Support.
