Auto-replace two minus signs with a proper dash

I wish Keynote would offer to do this! I've been cutting-and-pasting them into K06. K08 now offers a space to enter personal auto-replace 'requests', but putting "--" into the first column and a cut-and-paste dash (from--hold your breath--MS Word) doesn't work.
Any hints, please?
Thanks

I'm really happy to have learned the "Option + -" dash: as that produces exactly what I'm looking for and it takes no more keystrokes than "--" to produce, this is solved without fussing with auto-correct.
Thank you!

  • How to get a minus sign with the cost  field in ALV.

    Hi ,
How to get a minus sign with the cost field in ALV.
The Ouput will be displayed like  Rs -1500 instead of 1500-
I can't use concatenate also as i may have to use the sum functionality of ALV .
    Cheers
    Sunny

    Hi sunny,
    1. The OTHER FIELD
has to be character field of say length 15.
    2. Write the original numeric value to
this character field (in a loop)
    3. But simply writing won't help.
    4. use this kind of logic.
    5.
    REPORT abc.
    DATA : m TYPE i.
    DATA : chr(15) TYPE c.
    m = -100.
    WRITE m TO chr.
    IF m < 0.
SHIFT chr RIGHT BY 1 PLACES.
      CONDENSE chr.
      CONCATENATE '-' chr INTO chr.
    ENDIF.
    WRITE chr.

  • Minus sign with vbrp-netwr

    Dear all,
In my sapscript is retrieved vbrp-netwr. However, the minus sign is not displayed. How to proceed?
    Regards.

    hi,
in VBRP u wont have the NETWR as minus value... we need to modify this( multiply this value with -1 ex
    VBRK-NETWR = VBRK-NETWR * -1.
<b>To identify whether we need to modify or not... we have to look at another field i.e VBRP-SHKZG this will indicate return item...</b>
my suggestion is to take the NETWR from  item level i.e from VBRP.. then check whether the item return item or not.
<b>if VBRP-SHKZG is not initial then multyply with -1.</b>
Please Close this thread.. when u r problem is solved

  • Auto replacing my tag brackets with lt and gt :(

    Hi everyone,
I have an Interactive report that converts some '<a href ...>X</a>' text of mine by replacing the '<' and '>' with '&lt' and '&gt'. How can I make it so that a link is actually embedded (a link that says 'X'), rather than what shows up as '<a href ...>X</a>'
This OTN thread covers it somewhat: Re: issue with html in sql - < is replaced to &lt ; - but the 'column formatting' (called report attributes for me) doesn't have a 'display as html' option:(
    Edited by: user10225290 on Jan 21, 2009 9:26 AM

    Hi,
Is the content of the column just the URL you want to link to?
I have just tested creating an Interactive Report using:
    SELECT EMPNO,
    '&lt;a href="f?p=' || v('APP_ID') || ':11:' || v('SESSION') || '"&gt;' || EMPNO || '&lt;/a&gt;' EMPNO_LINK,
    ENAME
FROM EMPand the second column showed up, and works as, a proper link.

  • Issue with Minus sign in ALV

    Hi,
I have a report program where the prices will be getting displayed. In the out put the last four fields of ALV is having values -235.52; -145.25; -457.25; -417.25. In the foreground execution, the output is proper. But in the background(spool), the same output is getting displayed as 235.52;145.25;-457.25;-417.25.
The first two values 235.52 and 145.25 are getting displayed with out minus sign.
Note: All the above fields are of same data type.
What could be the possible issue here? Please provide your valuable inputs.
    Thanks,
    Viswanath A

Hi, Below is the fieldcatalog code and is common for all 4 fields.
    WHEN 'CPP_FKBTR'.
            wa_fieldcat-col_pos              = 40.
wa_fieldcat-seltext_l            = 'Commitment for past period'.
            wa_fieldcat-seltext_m            = 'Com past per'.
            wa_fieldcat-reptext_ddic         = 'Commitment past period'.
            wa_fieldcat-ddictxt   = 'L'.
            wa_fieldcat-no_out   = 'X'.
            MODIFY lv_fieldcat FROM wa_fieldcat.

  • When to export a numbers file to csv the minus signs don't work with R

    Friends,
I have trouble getting the statistic program R to read my exported CSV-files from Numbers.
The minus sign doesn't work, R reads it as a factoric input rather than numeric.
Does anyone have a tip how to reformat this?
    Jocke

Wayne, actually, I'm not sure but I think that factoric - or factorial is the denomination that R uses to say that somthing is rather a text than a numeric number - I'm pretty new to R.
But, anyway, we solved the problem but in a lillte bit of an awkward way.
The problem is that the minus sugns in numbers is percieved as dashes in R
    (http://www.R-project.org, a free-ware statistical analysis program)
So where there is a numeric input with a minus sign R thinks it is a letter rather than a number.
We solved it by exporting the numbers file to CSV, opened it in text editor, copied the suspisios minus sign and pasted it into the search field to find all dashes/minus sign that didn't work and replaced them with a minus sign. After this operation, nothing different could be seen in the text but R saw the difference.
So this makes it difficult to explain by posting a screenshot - it looks the same but it isn't.
The funny thing is that the dashes that numbers use when to express a date are percieved as minus signs by R.
Can anyone understand what I tried to explain? And if so, is there a simpler way to do this? We have a lot of minus signs to export to R.....

  • I increased my font with zoom for the first time & got it too large. It will not decrease using Control & minus sign.

I use Firefox 4. Windows XP. I have tremors & must have accidentally clicked on something that made it open up with weird colors like it was in safe mode. It was in 8-bit so put it back on 32-bit and 1280 x 1024 pixels. Then the font was so small it is almost unreadable. Tried to change it in Firefox Tools, Options, & Content. This did not work. I then used Zoom after checking in Help but got the font so large I can't view my email right. It will not decrease when trying Control with the minus sign as suggested.

Did you change the resolution in Control Panel > Display ?
What is the native resolution of your video display (monitor)?

  • HT5137 Words with Friends has frozen. After double clicking the home button, swiping or pressing the icon does not bring up the minus sign.

On my IPad Words With Friends has frozen. I have double clicked on the home button and identified the WWF icon. When I press and hold or swipe vertically the icon darkens but does not shake or bring up the minus sign. Any suggestions?

    Force close apps
    1. Double tap the home button to bring up the multi-tasking view
    2. Swipe the app's windows upwards to close
    3. The app will fly off the screen

  • HFM 9.3 - FR Studio - can't format negative numbers with minus sign prefix?

How can negative numbers on an account balance report be made to appear with a leading minus sign??
This is a necessary requirement for generating an export file for loading to our new Tax software, but does not appear to be a format option.

Have you tried going into Format Cells - Number - Negative Number Symbols - and typing a minus sign in the prefix box?

  • Having trouble with Red minus signs on folders shared to my computer

Here's the situation as best as I can describe it.
We are working on 2 imacs.  iMac A as a 1TB harddrive attached to it via USB that has all the folders on it that we use to work.  iMac B is connected to A wirelessly and can "usually" access the contents of the harddrive through A with no problems.  However, every once in a while I click a folder on the harddrive and I get access (I'm on iMac B) to that folder but the subfolder inside that I need to access (the others are fine) has a red minus sign on it which is infuriating.  So far the only way we've been able to re-grant access to the folder for me is to either restart my computer or unplug and replug the harddrive into iMac A.
    Steps we have taken:
Added full "read & write" permissions to both computers and users on both the folder, the sub folder, and the harddrive itself
Attempted to set up additional users to access the folder differently
Checked and unchecked "ignore ownership" on all of the above access points
We find it strange that it's only sometimes I get locked out of the folder and other times I'm not.  It has to be some sort of glitch unless there's some sort of setting that locks me out if I make too many changes to the contents in that specific folder.  Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

The procedure below will reset the permissions of a home folder in OS X 10.7.4 or later. If you're running an earlier version of 10.7, update to the latest version first. This procedure should not be used in OS X versions older than 10.7.4.
Back up all data before you begin.
    Step 1
Click the Finder icon in the Dock. A Finder window will open.
    Step 2
Press the following key combinations, in the order given:
    Command-3
    Shift-command-H
    Command-I
The Info window of your home folder will open.
    Step 3
Click the lock icon in the lower right corner and authenticate with the name and login password of an administrator on the system. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
    Step 4
In the Sharing & Permissions section of the window, verify that you have "Read & Write" privileges. If not, use the "+" and "-" buttons in the lower left corner to make the necessary changes.
    Step 5
By default, the groups "staff" and "everyone" have "Read Only" privileges. With those settings, the files at the top level of your home folder will be readable by other local users. You can change the privileges to "No Access" if you wish, but then your Public and Drop Box folders will be inaccessible to others, and Personal Web Sharing won't work. Most likely, you don't need to change these settings.
    Step 6
If there are entries in the Sharing & Permissions list for users or groups besides "me," "staff," and "everyone," delete them.
    Step 7
Click the gear icon at the bottom of the Info window and select Apply to enclosed items... from the drop-down menu. Confirm. The operation may take several minutes to complete. When it does, close the Info window.

  • Quantity should populate with minus sign.

    Hi All,
I want to populate GR quantity for mat doc with minus value if movement type is 102 or someother.
I want to write a routine in transformations.
    So how can I?

    Hi Baazi,
You can maintain the minus sign in characteristic routine of transformation.
Map. movement type and GR quanity from source to GR quanityt of target
    if source_fields-movement_type = '102'.
    result = GR quantity * -1.
    else
    result = GR Quantity.
    endif.

  • What do red circles with minus sign mean?

Just set up time machine on my new Mac Pro, and on the first backup it made, several of the folders have red circles with a minus sign in them on the backups. When I try to open them off the backup it tells me I don't have permission. I am the only user. I use TM on my Macbook, and have never seen this happen.
It seems I can "enter time machine" and restore the files in those folders if I need to, but I'm wondering why I can't just directly open them off the disk.
Doesn't seem this is normal, and am wondering if "repair permissions" will do anything.

    Whitecity wrote:
Time and time again I see people messing up tm backups because this isn't at all obvious, and it is easy to use the wrong (finder) interface to get to tm backups. It would be nice if Apple put the TM into something like an app bundle that launched the star wars interface to make it obvious that it was different from a normal folder.
Or just put up some sort of warning (because on rare occasions, an "in.Progress" package needs to be deleted, or when the backups are corrupted and all else has failed, copying via the Finder may recover some data, as a last resort).
But don't hesitate to make that known here (as many of us have done): http://www.apple.com/feedback/timemachine.html
