Auto rollback with no error when upgrading windows server 2003 sp2 to windows server 2008 R2
Hi, I have a server needs to upgrade from windows server 2003 sp2 to windows server 2008 r2.
It should be supported from technet site
And yes, it went through all the list of upgrade. After rebooted, it told me "the upgrade was not successful, Your previous version of windows is being restored. Do not restart your computer during this time.".
Is there a place located the upgrade failure log? What's the common cause about the auto roll back?
Thanks for the reply.
I copied some sentences in Setuperr.log

"This field name is not known" error when upgrading from VS 2003 to VS 2005
When we upgraded our web servers from VS 2003 to 2005, our crystal reports web viewer began having a problem with reports that contained sub-reports. We now are getting the following error on the web page. The reports were developed in Crystal 10, but I upgraded them to Crystal 11 but still recieved the same error.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thank you

Also Try to update the database connection for the report.
You can do that by opening report in designer, then
Go To Database Menu -> Setdatasource Location
Connect to the datasource you want and update the datasource.
Save the report.
Hope this Helps !!!

In my sharepoint 2007, I have upgraded the OS from windows server 2003 standard to windows server 2003 enterprise R2 SP2. After the OS upgrade when I run the central admin it's showing this error "Microsoft Windows Sharepoint Services 3.0 Error 2908
error has occurred" screen shot below of the error.
Any help? Not sure I can help. In general MS does NOT support the upgrade of the Underlying OS without re-installing SharePoint. Many of the prerequisites that were installed when SharePoint was installed are OS specific. You can either contact
Product Support and see if they can provide any assistance or re-install SharePoint from scratch and re-attach/migrate all the existing databases with content into the new system on the new OS.

CJS-20060 error when upgrading SAP WEBAS640 SPS12
Posted: Oct 20, 2005 10:21 AM Reply E-mail this post
Hi,
I am trying to upgrade my current EP6.0 SPS10 environment to SPS12. But right now, I can't even get the sapinst to go past this one error after entering the path to the Java Cryptography Extension. After entering the path and clicking next, I get the following error message.
ERROR 2005-10-20 09:45:09
CJS-20060 <html>You entered the instance number 0 on host tp1 for the JC instance.<p>In the SAP system TP1, an JC instance exists already with the instance number 00 on host wsawd03q.</html>
We are currently running Portal on an HA Environment. The SCS instance was installed on host sapgrp. The CI instance was installed on wsawd03q. I am currently upgrading the CI instance. I've tried using the SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME but it did not work and I don't believe its relevant because my CI does not use a virtual host name.
Please assist with this issue. Thank you very much in advance.
Regards,
Kiet TranHi,
This is a known problem which I think will be fixed in future versions of sapinst.
What you need to do is to move the profile files of the other system from /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/profiles , to a temporary location untill the installation starts. You can then start the installation and move the files back at the same time.
Basically, sapinst doesn't truely realize that you are installing on a virtual host, and therefore believes there is a conflict
PS you must use the SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME parameter if you have a virtual host.
Cheers

I had this error when upgrading. I'm using arch linux on eeepc with kdemod 3.5

Thank you. That solved my same problem as well.
But on my screen the text scrolled by so fast that i could barely read it and I could not scroll up to read the beginning.
how can I pipe the output so that it does not scroll so fast. i thought this was the "less" command but when i typed:
less pacman -Syu
or
pacman -Syu less
I got errors in syntax. I am a noob coming from 1 year using Ubuntu. I have worked thru many errors to get this far in the install.
The forums where down so I was on my own and had to use trial and error and the beginner wiki. im glad now forums back online because i never woould have figured out this klibc error on my own. -

JDK issues with Windows Server 2003 SP2 Standard Edition
Hi,
We are running an ETL (Extracts-Transform-Load) Jar file which reads data from MS Commerce Server 2002, AS400 and SQL Server 2000 database and populates a SQL Server 2000 database. The jar was running fine on Windows Server 2000 but started to stall when we are running it from our newly acquired Windows Server 2003 SP2 server class machine. The JDK version is 1.4 on Windows 2000 and 1.6 on Windows Server 2003. Interestingly, the jar is running fine via JDK 1.6 on another Windows Server 2003 dev machine.
The jar does not throw any error and we have to manually shutdown the execution of the jar.
Can anyone please suggest some solutions here?
Thank you!Um, does this have anything to do with JavaMail? If not, you might try a more appropriate forum.

Best practice for Smartview when upgrading from Excel 2003 to Excel 2007?
Does anyone know the best pratice for Smartview when upgrading from Excel 2003 to Excel 2007?
Current users have Microsoft Excel 2003 with Smartview 9.3.1.2.1.003.
Computers are being upgraded to Microsoft Excel 2007.
What is the best pratice for Smartview in this situation?
1. Do nothing with Smartview and just install Excel 2007.
2. Install Excel 2007 and then uninstall and reinstall Smartview
3. Uninstall Smartview, Install Excel 2007, and then install Smartview
4. Somthing else??
Thanks! We went with option 1 and it worked out fine. Be aware that SV processes noticeably slower in Excel 2007 than 2003. Many users were/are unhappy with the switch. We haven't tested SV v11 yet, so I'm not sure if it has improved performance with Excel 2007 or not (hopefully it does).

Ora 12154 error when trying to add a database to VS Server Explorer
Hi Everyone,
I get the Ora 12154 error when trying to add a database to VS Server Explorer.
How do I get around this problem.
The database service is running and I can connect to the database with pl/sql.
I can also tnsping the database and that is also ok.
Looks like a problem with the odp.net software.
I am running the 32 bit Oracle 11g on a Windows7 Home Premium 64 bit PC.
I am new to this stuff so please help me step by step.
Thanks.
EmadHi J. B.
I have a question related to this. After you told me about the //host:1521/database alias I tried it in a VB 2008 program and it worked and returned data. At least I know that it can be used in a VB program without issues. I just now need to be able to add a connection with the Server Explorer.
Anyway here is the VB coding I used. I'm new to this and still learning:
Imports Oracle.DataAccess.Client ' Visual Basic ODP.NET Oracle managed provider
Public Class Form1
' String to connect to the database.
Dim strConnectionString As String = _
"Data Source=//emad-pc:1521/emadeva;User ID=scott;Password=tiger;" '
' Associate the connection string with a connection object.
Dim objOracleConnection As New OracleConnection(strConnectionString)
' SQL query for returning data rows.
Dim strSqlQuery As String = _
"Select dname, deptno " & _
"From dept " & _
"Where deptno = 10" '
' Command object to make this query work.
Dim objOracleCommand As New OracleCommand(strSqlQuery, objOracleConnection)
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
' Identify what type of command is being used.
objOracleCommand.CommandType = CommandType.Text
Try
objOracleConnection.Open()
' Set up a Data Reader and load it with data.
Dim objOracleDataReader As OracleDataReader = _
objOracleCommand.ExecuteReader()
objOracleDataReader.Read()
' Convert the department number to a string.
lblDepartmentNumberFromOracle.Text = _
CStr(objOracleDataReader.Item("deptno"))
Catch ex As Exception
MessageBox.Show(ex.Message, "Error")
End Try
End Sub
End Class
I still want to thank you for the help you are providing.
Truly,
Emad -

Calendar is locked on my MAC.
I keep getting the message" The server responded with an error: Access to icloud is not permitted. The server responded 403 to oepration caldavmigrate to server queueable operation."
How do I recify? We previously had a similar issue when migrating multiple accounts from MobileMe to iCloud. The issue was resolved by disabling and then enabling iCal sync through iCloud on our iMacs in System Preferences.
Always backup your calendar before troubleshooting (File > Export > iCal Archive).
The following steps are roughly from a Apple Support Community discussion.
Open iCloud in System Preferences.
Switch off (uncheck) iCal sync in iCloud System Preferences pane.
Backup iCal before doing this. You will need to remove calendar data.
Open iCal and verify the iCloud account is removed in the iCal preferences under accounts.
Close iCal, reopen System Preference and switch on (check) iCal sync in iCloud System Preferences pane.
Reopen iCal and verify the iCloud account is enabled in the iCal preferences under accounts.
At this point if the problem persists you might try completely signing out of iCloud and then signing back in. But remember to backup all related data (iCal, Contacts, Mail, Photostream, etc) before turning off iCloud sync!
