Auto Rotate Disable for Photos ....... Sort-of ..... Trick / Tip

I have many photos and many are in the wrong Rotation in my Ipod and wanted to disable the Auto-Rotate feature but no luck since Apple forgot to Add the feature to turn it off.......(STUPID APPLE) but no worries, Apple will add it to a future update and charge you for it!.
But I have found an easy way to show off my photos in the right orientation and disabling/tricking the feature momentarily and Here is how I do it:
Open the Photo you desire that has the wrong orientation.
Hold the Ipod/Iphone in the orientation where the Photo is in the right Position,( i.e: if your photo is in landscape while holding it in the upright position.).
All you have to do now is, with two fingers touch and hold near the bottom of the screen as close to the edge of the Ipod/Iphone as you can, so you can still see 95% of the Photo and then Rotate to the right orientation and there you go! your photo remains and does not Auto Rotate, keep holding until you have shown the photo to your friends.
All this does is to freeze the photo, simply put, it is thinking you are either enlarging or going to the next photo, it doesn't disable the feature it is simply waiting for you to make a decision.

As of 10.1.2 we no longer talk about "auto-rotate and center". Page scaling for 1-up output is always registered to the center point, and the new dialog only refers to orientation.
Ultimately of you want a page to be printed at 100% physical scale, you need to supply users with a PDF that has the correct paper size and margins wide enough to stay within their printer working zones. In that case, the setting for scale and rotate is meaningless, as "fit", "shrink" and "actual" will all equal 100%. If the paper size matches, rotating a page has no bearing on the X/Y position - it's there to handle cases where the document is portrait but the printer tray is landscape, or vice-versa. If for example you open a US Letter portrait page and "force" it to print in landscape to a printer with a portrait feed tray, it is not rotated and squished into the middle of the page - aside from coming out the machine sideways it'll look no different.

  • Auto rotate disabling

Is there a way to disable auto rotate feature in Safari? I sometimes prefer to read while lying down on the side. It would be really nice to disable this feature then.

I wholeheartedly agree with this. I always sleep on my side, and occasionally I'll use my iPod in bed, reading news or e-mail or something, and it's really hard to get it in a good position for reading. I think for some apps (The New York Times app, I think) there's a way in Settings to lock the orientation. But what I'd really like to see is a universal gesture for locking orientation that would work across all apps (i.e. programmed into the OS), or at least all apps made by Apple. I think drawing a circle would be a good gesture for this, or maybe a circle with a line through it.
Any thoughts? I submitted feedback to Apple about this; everybody else should too so that it gets included in 3.2!

  • Yoga 2 Pro Auto-Rotate Disabled (button is gray) on Win 10

Hi all, Upgraded my Yoga 2 Pro to Win 10 today, and the auto-rotate feature stopped working. The enable auto-rotate button on Win 10 is disabled, and in the display settings, the auto-rotate is switched on, but this doesn't make a difference. Don't know if the problem is with Lenovo or Microsoft, but would appreciate any help I can get...

Folks - any of you restored back to windows 8 to see if it still works? I did after my win 10 upgrade (with no rotation) and to my dismay, rotation no longer works in the factory image. I spoke to Lenovo and they are treating it like a hardware failure (apparently the factory reimage is the smoking gun for them). I'm starting to wonder if the Win 10 upgrade could have hosed the sensor!? FWIW - I have installed windows 10 about 5 times now on my Yoga 2 Pro, and in every case, the rotation lock function appears as a option (after the graphics drivers are updated by windows update) and pressing the button causes the on screen display to indicate that the autorotate is being toggled.

  • Disable auto-favorites link for Photo Stream

I recently started using iCloud Control Panel and to my surprise the program added a link to the photo stream to my favorites. I don't want that so I removed it, only to see it get set back as soon as I reboot my PC.
I hate this and I can't seem to find an option to disable the favorites link without having to disable the whole feature.
This is a (cut out) screenshot of what link I mean. It's under Skydrive.
Any suggestions on disabling this? Or is it a no-go and am I better off removing the tool completely?
    Roelof

If you are using separate AppleIDs with iCloud, you cannot share your main photo streams, but can create "Shared Photostreams" on each of your iPhones and regularely add the contents of your camera roll to the "Shared" stream. These streams can be imported on your iMac in iPhoto or Aperture, or viewed in the web.

  • Why are auto-renewals disabled for Israel? (look at ht4098)

    Guys/Apple
Once again, Israel is singled out, but this time it is particularly strange:
I wanted to subscribe to the iPad version of the New Yorker magazine (which is quite a nice app), but trying to do so, got me a popup on the iPad saying that auto-renewals are disabled in my "storefront".
Looking at the Apple Support side, I found this KB article.   (ht4098)
It says, specifically, that auto-renewal is not supported for Israel.
Why is that? There is no problem purchasing from the Israeli App store, nor there is a problem purchasing individual issues of The New Yorker via their app...
There is absolutely no problem with Israeli credit cards, since Paypal, for example, perfectly supports renewals (and so does WorldPay, etc...)
So what's the reason Israel is so singled-out in THIS instance?
(BTW, obviously I got no relevant replies from Apple Suport and the support of The New Yorker are understandably not at fault here).
    Thanks!
    Michael.

  • Cannot Disable Auto-Rotate on Twist s230u

I want to completely disable the screen auto-rotation on my Twist s230u and prevent it from re-enabling at all.  The only modes I use it in are tablet mode or laptop mode, so I have no use for this.  Is there a way to do this?
The checkbox under the Screen Resolution section of Display Properties doesn't seem to do jack.  The screen still rotates when this is unchecked.  I've also rolled back the driver of the Lenovo PM Device from 1.67 to 1.66 as per this thread.  Can't say I've noticed a difference after this either.
    Any other ideas?  Thanks.

  • IPhone: Where to find good Documentation and Samples for Auto-Rotate?

So I'm starting to get into the auto rotation features for my iPhone apps. I've spent a couple hours looking for some apple documentation and searching online, but I'm not finding any "definitive" guide to discuss the process. Any recommendations would be great!
Specifically, I'm trying to learn about the following:
    - I have already implemented auto-rotation, but how do I setup my view so when rotated, it adjust the UI to take advantage of landscape mode. (i.e. I want to add extra features, and re-position some things)
    - I also would like to the option within a couple views, that when rotated, goes to an entirely new view.
    Thanks in advance!

I generally find that vector drawing programs are better for drawing toolbar icons and the like, as vector drawings are easier to tweak and adjust later. I've had great success with VectorDesigner in my own apps; it has a shallow learning curve and a solid basic feature set, although it can be quirky at times. (It also doesn't play all that well with certain development tools: don't try to add VectorDesigner files to Xcode projects, and make sure you zip them before you add them to a Subversion or CVS repository. VectorDesigner files are packages--like application bundles--and those tools don't play well with packages.)
If you want to go a little higher end, Illustrator is the Photoshop of vector drawing, but like Photoshop you'll probably find it very difficult to start out with.
You'll also need a raster graphics editor to tweak exported images. I use Pixelmator for this, but Photoshop will work just as well.

  • 8.1 | 11s | Auto-rotate only works for landscape & button does nothing

The way auto-rotate is sort of doing it's own thing right now. The way it works is if  the screen is upside down (winbutton up) -> tablet mode, rightside up -> laptop mode. Those are the only two switches that it makes, and it doesn't rotate to a portrait mode, which I would really like.
The auto-rotate button doesn't seem to do anything anymore. The dialog will appear on-screen but it rotates the same wether it's on or off.
I can make the switch with ctrl+alt+<,> but that doesn't disable the keyboard, and it flips back to landscape when I move it.
Is there some list of upgrade issues?
Other issues I have/had are: cpu throtling in tablet mode, dolby stopped working though audio works fine with new driver. Also the upgrade messed up my DNS settings. Updating the wifi driver & forgetting the network driver didn't solve it. I had to go to the conection's settings and set the DNS manually on IPV4 and disable IPV6.

Check for newer drivers and install if any, then post if you still have the issue.

  • IPhoto 09 loses date on auto-rotated photos

Try that: take an old photo in portrait mode (auto-rotated from a camera, mine is a Canon) from your iPhoto library, drag it to the desktop, and drag it back to iPhoto. The new photo imported has lost its original date, its date is now the importing date.
I don't think that is acceptable.
iPhoto 8 would lose lost of EXIF information when auto-rotating photos, but the date?!

    Thanks for the suggestion.
I tried with the File/Export method: the results is strictly identical.
It seems to me that the problems resides in the import of "auto-rotate" photos. As the previous version of iPhoto, iPhoto 09 create a modified version of the photo, which loses all the EXIF information, including the date/time the photo was digitized.
iPhoto still displays the photo with the correct time, probably from the library or the Original file, but when it exports it, the only date remaining is the creation date, which is the import date.

  • Unexpected reduction in file size for photos rotated on my camera.

    Hello,
This seems a bit weird and wondering if anyone has an idea on why this is happening.
I take my photo on my camera and then rotate it within the camera to the proper orinetation.
Import the photos into iphoto and automatically it places the origional 4MB file in the origionals folder and then in the modified folder it places a copy about 2MB in size.
If I control click I an revert the 2MB back to the full 4MB version, but wonder why is iPhoto doing this?
Thanks in advance for any help and assistance.
    Cheers,
    harley2g

    Harley:
You camera has an auto-rotate option that creates a tag telling other applications that the image needs to be rotated for proper viewing. iPhoto automatically reads that tag and creates a rotated version as saves it in its Modified folder. It's the same as any edit. If you look closely you'll find that after a short time iPhoto will recreate the rotated version.
One problem encountered with that is when you send the photo to another application from iPhoto and that application does not read the rotate tag it will appear back in the unrotated orientation.
The only way to avoid the modified file and get the file to be orientated correctly is to rotate it before you import into the library. If you turn off the auto-rotate in the camera and the rotate before importing into iPhoto all future applications of that image will appear correctly orientated.

  • How to make photo auto rotation work?

Ok, I just got an ipod Touch 16GB yesterday and this is my first ever Apple purchase. I saw an iPhone that my friend has and really liked the screen and photo display features. My friend and I are both photographers. So I bought it mostly for its nice display, all other features are secondary to me.
I plugged it in my Dell PC on Windows XP and set it up. Since ipod version 1.1.2 was available and I updated it before I had a chance to use it with 1.1.1. Anyway, after fiddled with it and loaded some images, I was eager to try photo viewing feature. To my disappointment, the photo auto rotation does not seem to work. When I changed the orientation of the ipod, there was no response and no rotation. For some unknown reasons, I could change the orientation for the whole set of images, sometimes 90 degrees or 180 degrees (upside down from original position), but not individual images. I never figured out how I did it. Could someone help me to get this straightened up? Appreciate in advance.

Sounds like you've got some kind of bug in the software or something. The above portion of the quote was really interesting, because i've never heard of it being able to flip the sets of images, only individual ones.

When in the print module with "Auto-Rotate to fit" selected, A landscape images correctly rotates to fit the page, but the text that is selected in the "Photo Info" setting does not rotate. Thus, the text appears along the left side of the image .
Any suggestions to get it to appear correctly on the bottom?

  • I'm getting the error message "Photos folder syncing has been disabled for the iPhone my iPhone because the folder "Pictures" cannot be found."

I'm getting the error message "Photos folder syncing has been disabled for the iPhone <my iPhone> because the folder "Pictures" cannot be found." lately.
Normally, all I do with photos is move them from my iPhone to my computer's (Windows 7) hard drive. I do this by connecting the iPhone with the cable, a box pops up on the screen asking me what I want to do, and I choose "Import pictures and videos". I've previously selected the "delete photos from the device after move" option (or however it's worded...), simply because I don't want this device to fill up with photos.
Lately, it has been importing the photos fine, but it won't delete them from the iPhone. This used to work just fine, now it doesn't work and I don't know what changed, if anything. In iTunes, I get the error message I list at the beginning of this message.
    How do I fix this?

    Hi there scarbo59,
You mentioned that you are still able to import without issues, but you may still want to run through the troubleshooting steps outlined in the article below.

Not a problem when using iPhoto on a Mac, which the transfer of photos is primarily based on - not manually managing photo storage as seems to be common with Windoze.
The same should be available with a supported photo management app on a PC.
