Auto rotate disabling

Is there a way to disable auto rotate feature in Safari? I sometimes prefer to read while lying down on the side. It would be really nice to disable this feature then.

I wholeheartedly agree with this. I always sleep on my side, and occasionally I'll use my iPod in bed, reading news or e-mail or something, and it's really hard to get it in a good position for reading. I think for some apps (The New York Times app, I think) there's a way in Settings to lock the orientation. But what I'd really like to see is a universal gesture for locking orientation that would work across all apps (i.e. programmed into the OS), or at least all apps made by Apple. I think drawing a circle would be a good gesture for this, or maybe a circle with a line through it.
Any thoughts? I submitted feedback to Apple about this; everybody else should too so that it gets included in 3.2!

  • Auto Rotate Disable for Photos ....... Sort-of ..... Trick / Tip

I have many photos and many are in the wrong Rotation in my Ipod and wanted to disable the Auto-Rotate feature but no luck since Apple forgot to Add the feature to turn it off.......(STUPID APPLE) but no worries, Apple will add it to a future update and charge you for it!.
But I have found an easy way to show off my photos in the right orientation and disabling/tricking the feature momentarily and Here is how I do it:
Open the Photo you desire that has the wrong orientation.
Hold the Ipod/Iphone in the orientation where the Photo is in the right Position,( i.e: if your photo is in landscape while holding it in the upright position.).
All you have to do now is, with two fingers touch and hold near the bottom of the screen as close to the edge of the Ipod/Iphone as you can, so you can still see 95% of the Photo and then Rotate to the right orientation and there you go! your photo remains and does not Auto Rotate, keep holding until you have shown the photo to your friends.
All this does is to freeze the photo, simply put, it is thinking you are either enlarging or going to the next photo, it doesn't disable the feature it is simply waiting for you to make a decision.

As of 10.1.2 we no longer talk about "auto-rotate and center". Page scaling for 1-up output is always registered to the center point, and the new dialog only refers to orientation.
Ultimately of you want a page to be printed at 100% physical scale, you need to supply users with a PDF that has the correct paper size and margins wide enough to stay within their printer working zones. In that case, the setting for scale and rotate is meaningless, as "fit", "shrink" and "actual" will all equal 100%. If the paper size matches, rotating a page has no bearing on the X/Y position - it's there to handle cases where the document is portrait but the printer tray is landscape, or vice-versa. If for example you open a US Letter portrait page and "force" it to print in landscape to a printer with a portrait feed tray, it is not rotated and squished into the middle of the page - aside from coming out the machine sideways it'll look no different.

  • Yoga 2 Pro Auto-Rotate Disabled (button is gray) on Win 10

Hi all, Upgraded my Yoga 2 Pro to Win 10 today, and the auto-rotate feature stopped working. The enable auto-rotate button on Win 10 is disabled, and in the display settings, the auto-rotate is switched on, but this doesn't make a difference. Don't know if the problem is with Lenovo or Microsoft, but would appreciate any help I can get...

Folks - any of you restored back to windows 8 to see if it still works? I did after my win 10 upgrade (with no rotation) and to my dismay, rotation no longer works in the factory image. I spoke to Lenovo and they are treating it like a hardware failure (apparently the factory reimage is the smoking gun for them). I'm starting to wonder if the Win 10 upgrade could have hosed the sensor!? FWIW - I have installed windows 10 about 5 times now on my Yoga 2 Pro, and in every case, the rotation lock function appears as a option (after the graphics drivers are updated by windows update) and pressing the button causes the on screen display to indicate that the autorotate is being toggled.

  • Cannot Disable Auto-Rotate on Twist s230u

I want to completely disable the screen auto-rotation on my Twist s230u and prevent it from re-enabling at all.  The only modes I use it in are tablet mode or laptop mode, so I have no use for this.  Is there a way to do this?
The checkbox under the Screen Resolution section of Display Properties doesn't seem to do jack.  The screen still rotates when this is unchecked.  I've also rolled back the driver of the Lenovo PM Device from 1.67 to 1.66 as per this thread.  Can't say I've noticed a difference after this either.
    Any other ideas?  Thanks.

  • Disable Auto-Rotation in OCR Process (Acrobat 9 Pro)

Is there a way to disable the auto-rotation step as part of the OCR process? I have documents which I assemble in from images of tables. (If I had acces to the text of the tables, I wouldn't be using images of them). I place each screenshot in the correct orientation, but when I have Acrobat 9 Pro OCR the document, it auto-rotates many pages into the wrong orientation (some 90° clockwise; others 90° counterclockwise and some 180°). Since Acrobat is horribly confused by what it is seeing, I need to disable the auto-rotation part of the process so that it will OCR what it finds exactly as it finds it.

Very likely the pages of interest have a least one character of renderable text. This might not be readily seen by you or me but it'd be there.
Acrobat's OCR will not process a page that has any renderable text.

Can you not find it under

  • Auto rotation is disabled

my auto rotation on iphone4 is disabled and i dont know how can i resume as before?
that is why i want to upgrade an application and before it installed i open that app and this app is hanged and my rotation is disabled

You would not have to delete "300" apps to delete 1 hidden. You delete appa one by one until the overflow app you want to delete shows up on the home screen. How many that will take depends on how much you over-stuffed your phone with apps.  If you had read the User Guide and not over-filled your phone, you wouldn't have this problem.
You may not have to delete any apps at all. From what you're saying, it doesn't sound like you've creates any home screen folders. You can make folders by category and put up to 12 apps in each folder, multiplying the home screen capacity by 12. You the can have up to 2116 apps on the home screens. You REALLY NEED TO READ THE USER GUIDE!

  • Disabling the auto rotation while doing OCR

how can i disable the auto rotation function while doing OCR?

It does this to improve the OCR but if you can choose Searchable Image (Exact) under the PDF Output Style in the Recognize Text - General Settings dialog it won't deskew the image.

  • 8.1 | 11s | Auto-rotate only works for landscape & button does nothing

The way auto-rotate is sort of doing it's own thing right now. The way it works is if  the screen is upside down (winbutton up) -> tablet mode, rightside up -> laptop mode. Those are the only two switches that it makes, and it doesn't rotate to a portrait mode, which I would really like.
The auto-rotate button doesn't seem to do anything anymore. The dialog will appear on-screen but it rotates the same wether it's on or off.
I can make the switch with ctrl+alt+<,> but that doesn't disable the keyboard, and it flips back to landscape when I move it.
Is there some list of upgrade issues?
Other issues I have/had are: cpu throtling in tablet mode, dolby stopped working though audio works fine with new driver. Also the upgrade messed up my DNS settings. Updating the wifi driver & forgetting the network driver didn't solve it. I had to go to the conection's settings and set the DNS manually on IPV4 and disable IPV6.

  • IPhone 4 auto rotate

Help!!!!!! My phone will not auto rotate. Any idea how to get it to work?

Do you have rotation lock enabled? A rotation lock icon will appear in the status bar next to the battery charge icon when rotation lock is enabled. This looks like a circular arrow around a padlock. If so:
    1. Double click the home button to bring up the multitasking bar.
    2. Swipe right until the last set of icons is displayed in the multitasking bar (these will include play/pause and skip buttons for iPod or Pandora).
    3. The furthest left icon looks like a circular arrow - touch this icon to enable or disable rotation lock on the iPhone.

  • Twist - Auto-rotate sticks in protrait

If I enable auto rotate with the twist in laptop confiiguration, and rotate it sideways, it will not return to either landscape orentation.  You can flip portrait either way.  putting it in tablet more sometimes fixes it, but sometimes the touchpad ends up 90 degrees off, and a powerdown is the only recovery.

I don't know if this will work for anyone else, but after I turned off auto-rotation by pressing Windows Key + o (the letter, not the number), I "manually" rotate the screen orientation by right-clicking on the desktop --> Graphic Options --> Rotation --> then choose from "Normal" (i.e., laptop); 90 Degrees; 180 Degrees; or 270 Degrees, and it seems to stick.  (The Ctrl+Arrow key combination never worked for me.)
Turning off Auto-Rotation while in Laptop mode:
From the desktop, I just used Windows Key + o until the "Autorotate off" message appeared onscreen.
Alternatively, you can press Windows Key +x --> Control Panel --> Hardware and Sound --> Display --> Change Display Settings --> remove the checkmark from the "Allow the Screen to auto-rotate" box --> Click OK
To Right-Click the desktop "by touch" (e.g., you're already in Tent Mode and the orientation is wrong, and it's awkward to try to use the keyboard):
Press and hold your finger on the desktop and a square will appear. Remove your finger from the desktop and the right-click menu will appear, then touch Graphic Options --> Rotation --> then choose 180 Degrees.
Updated:  Just realized that switching to Tent Mode doesn't turn auto-rotate back on, but if I collapse my screen down into Tablet Mode from Tent Mode, when the screen is about an inch from touching the keyboard, auto-rotate comes back on automatically.  Still, if I press the auto-rotate button above the power button to turn auto-rotate off, when I "manually" adjust the rotation of the screen, it stays in place.  But when I raise the lid again to go back into Laptop Mode, auto-rotation comes back on by itself.
I'd love to find out how to disable whatever turns on the auto-rotation function when the screen is in a certain position.

  • [TP Yoga S1] Windows 10 - Auto-Rotate button doesn't work in landscape mode.

I just updated to Win 10 on Yoga S1. A strange problem occured regarding auto rotate. When the laptop is in landscape mode (normal mode), the physical "Enable/Disable Autorotate" button doesn't work, and the Autorotate button in the action center button is disabled. However, when I physically rotate my laptop, the screen rotates, and suddenly, both buttons now are active. This defeats the purpose of the button since it can't lock rotation when the laptop is in landscape mode. Anyone having this problem too?

Still have this problem as well. I've installed every windows 10 update I could find.BiosSystem Inferface DriverPower ManagementLenovo System Extension/ButtonSystem Update 5

  • Yoga 2 Pro tent mode and auto-rotate not working

I have had a Yoga 2 Pro since June. Recently the Tent mode and auto-rotate features do not work.
When I put the Yoga 2 Pro into Tent mode the keyboard and touch pad are still active underneth. However, they shutoff when in tablet mode. Lenovo Transition starts automatically and is running.
Auto-rotate does not work at all now. The screen is un-locked.

  • Yoga 8 and 10 Tablets - KitKat 4.4.2 - Auto-Rotation

After upgrading to KitKat 4.4.2, some customers report auto-rotation does not always occur while changing modes on their Yoga 10 tablet (B8000-F/H). Reports include the Lenovo Launcher home page, Facebook, and SolMail. Hard resets do not resolve the issue.
Please note that Lenovo has escalated internally on this issue. I was able to reproduce these reports on a KitKat 4.4.2 V24 build. I noticed slow auto-rotate and I quickly developed a habit of automatically "shaking" the device one time when changing the mode to force the auto-rotation.
These reports originated from this thread: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Idea-Android-based-Tablets/KitKat-roll-out-for-Yoga-Tablets-starting-Jun...
Note: This has only been reported by Yoga 10 Tablet users. If this is occuring on your Yoga 8 Tablet, please let me know so I can escalate it for the Yoga 8.
