Auto settings in Bridge

Is there a way to turn off the auto exposure setting in Bridge? I have version 1.0.4.6. When I import RAW images the app. automatically adjusts to what it thinks I want exposure wise. This also happens with the Canon download app. I use. Thanks.

Auto Settings are a function of Adobe Camera Raw see the FAQs at http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx/.3bba2fd1/0

  • Problem with JPGs Downlaoded with Nikon Transfer - Can't Apply Develop Settings in Bridge CS4 and ACR 5.3 Settings Don't Stick

I have found what I believe is a "problem" with JPGs downloaded using Nikon Transfer (ver 1.4.1) and processing same in Adobe Bridge CS4 (Develop Settings) and/or Adobe Camera Raw 5.3 (Photoshop CS4 and Elements 6 as hosts).
Anyone using these programs in their workflow?
The problem, quite simply, is that neither ACR settings (nor Bridge CS4 Develop Settings) "stick" when applied to JPGs that have been downloaded via Nikon Transfer ver 1.4.1.
The same images from the same cameras (D300 and D90), downloaded moments later using Nikon's predecessor software PictureProject work just fine in both Bridge and ACR.  Develop Settings appled in Bridge immediately are seen, and JPGs opened in ACR, and settings applied, then "Done" immediately stick and are reflected in Bridge.
If someone else is processing their JPGs in this manner, please let me know, as I have reported the problem to both Nikon and Adobe, and although I have tested it on two different cameras and two differnt laptops, I would like to get an impartial result as well.
One other test, the problem does not seem to affect Nikon's RAW (NEF) format files downloaded from a D2x using Nikon Transfer.  More/different test are forthcoming.
    Thanks

Can't say one way or another on that statement about using manufacturers' software.  Since Adobe has to interpret each camera models' RAW format having the latest ACR seems to be the best option.  But if the manufacturers' software is more convenient, and you get the same results then use it.  But it does appear you are not getting what you want, so suggest you try a duplicate test run with images straight from the card reader to Bridge and see if you still have same problems.
I do know it is widely recommended that using a quality card reader gives you more reliable data than getting the pictures straight from the camera.  Does not seem intuitive, but that has been experience of many.

  • Default settings in Bridge

Is there a way to turn off the auto default setting in Bridge? When I upload RAW files, Bridge automatically removes all my camera settings. Is there a way to upload my RAW files while keeping my camera settings?

What is happening when you see the images change one by one in Bridge is that Bridge first displays the image using the low-resolution thumbnail embedded in the raw file.  Then, one by one, Bridge renders high quality previews by calling camera raw and using camera raw's processing defaults for the camera.
So if you like the camera-rendered color and tone, ideally you should set your camera raw defaults to produce color and tone that matches the in-camera jpeg rendering.  If all you need is to view the image files unprocessed by camera raw, you can set Bridge preview to "Prefer Embedded," which will instruct Bridge to display only the embedded previews -- the ones you see at first (in which the "colors look great").

  • Changes to using graphic settings in Bridge CS6 scripts

The "CS6 Tools Guide" document shows no changes in how graphical settings should be used for Foreground Colour, Background Colour, Fonts and Font Size, as well as the use of Images in panels.  All these work as before with scripts used in Photoshop CS6.  But with Bridge CS6 the use of an image will crash Bridge, whereas the settings for Colours and Fonts are just ignored.  Does Bridge CS6 now have customised settings for graphical changes to panels?  Or is this a bug?

I'd much rather have 32 bits that do what they ought to… sounds like CS6 has 48 that don't…

  • Lens Correction Profiles: Pasting develop settings in bridge yields inconsistent crop

    Hello Everyone,
I recently discovered lens correction profiles which have been a real benefit to me in my most recent batch of images shot at 16mm on a Canon 5d MII. The lens distortion isn't always spot on, but it is a huge headstart most of the time.
I bracket photos for HDR and will apply all my crop settings to one image in the bracketed series and afterwards psate the settings onto all the others in the series. This works great.
However, once I started using Lens Correction Profiles, when I paste the crop setting onto the subsequent images, the crop is in a different position. I was completely baffled. But after some fiddling around, I noticed that if I manually open each of the subsequent images, remove the crop, uncheck and recheck the Lens Correction Profile, and reapply the crop, it is consistent with the first. This leads me to believe that somewhere in the Paste Setting sequence, it is doing the crop out of order. (As if it is cropping the image and THEN applying the lens correction--which yeild different results.)
(As a item of note, when I mean cropping, I use the automatic crop obtained by highlighting the entire area of the image after applying lens corrections so as to only crop out the grey areas acquired by shifting the image around while still maintaining aspect ratio.)
Is there any way we can get the pasting to paste so as to make these subsequent images identical to the original image? Or am I missing something?
    Relevant Specs:
    OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
    Bridge 4.0.4.2
    Adobe Camera Raw 6.4.0.139
    Photoshop 12.0.3 x64
    Thanks,
    Dave

Normally, when you apply a lens correction profile, there shouldn't be any visible gray areas around the border of the image.
Are you saying this is not the case?
Are you making additional distortion or keystoning adjustments (e.g., in the manual tab)?

  • CAN'T USE DEVELOP SETTINGS IN BRIDGE

    HELLO,
i am using cs3 extended and my camera is a canon 40d. i downloaded camera raw 4.2 and installed it. i am able to see my raw images in bridge but am not able to use the develop settings tab under the edit tab. it is greyed out. so any help would be appreciated.
    thanks
    tim

You installed the Camera Raw plug-in in the wrong location.
Read the instructions again and pay attention to the location of the Library;  it is NOT your user library but your ROOT Library.
Last but not least, download and instal ACR 4.6.  All versions of ACR support all camera models supported by previous versions of the plug-in, and they contained unannounced, unpublicized bug fixes, enhancements and improvements.  There's no reason to use an obsolete version like ACR 4.2.

  • Losing camera raw settings in bridge

I've started losing the edits that I made to images in Camera Raw. I'll make edits to an image, cropping, sharpening, exposure etc. Then I will go on to another image. When I look back at the previous image the edits are gone. The image has reverted. It isn't just the preview, going back into the image in Raw shows all the edits have disappeared.
I've re-installed Photoshop, Bridge and Raw and it stopped for a short time, but it has come back. This is an intermittent problem, it doesn't happen every time.
    Any recommendations?

First Aid for Bridge is always restart holding down option key and choose refresh preferences. After this reset prefs to your wishes and try again (sometimes restarting Bridge is needed to let the changes take effect).
If this is not working repeat this procedure but now first quit Bridge and delete the Com.adobeBridge3.plist file from the preferences folder in the user library and the again refresh and reset the prefs.
It should work normally, it does so on my system ( you are not working on a network btw??)

  • How do I add VLC to the auto player in Bridge?

When I click on a video file--especially an mp4----I want VLC to be the default.
But even under "Right Click--Open With__it is not an option.
How do I make it the default option?

Good choice.  You need to click on browse then browse (preferences/file type association) to folder with VLC.  Scroll down the list until you come the the program (.exe) and choose that file.

  • In new event window how do I change the auto settings?

As an example of this question, each new event window always has "all day event" checked, how do I change this to be automatically unchecked?

    catknox,
Are you using Lion iCal? If so, iCal now uses data detectors for event creation. The "Month" view automatically creates an all day event unless you enter a specific time.
Here are some event creation rules from the iCal Help Center:
Click Add at the top of the iCal window or press Command (⌘)-N.Events are added automatically to your default calendar.
If you want to choose a different calendar for the event, hold down the Add button (+), and then choose a calendar.
To change your default calendar, choose iCal > Preferences, click General, and then select a calendar from the Default Calendar pop-up menu.
Enter a name, date, and time duration for the event, and then press Return. For example, you can enter “Super Bowl Party Feb 6,” “Movie with Rebecca on Friday at 7pm,” “Soccer Game on Saturday from 11am-1pm,” or “Breakfast with Jon,” and then press Return.
If you don’t enter a time duration for the event, iCal sets the event’s duration to 1 hour.
If you don’t enter any time information for the event, iCal makes the event an all-day event.
If you enter “breakfast” or “morning,” iCal sets the event to start at 9 a.m.
If you enter “lunch “ or “noon,” iCal sets the event to start at 12 p.m.
If you enter “dinner” or “night,” iCal sets the event to start at 8 p.m.
To set any other event options (for example, to set your event to repeat, add an alert, or invite others to the event), make your changes in the event’s editor, and then click Done.

  • Auto format Text Bridge Doc

    Hello,
I am currently using a template from Adobe Indesign. Adapting it for my own newspaper.
Nevertheless each new textbox I want to create has a format I don't want. (Blue background, White capital letters)
I've tried several things but can't get rid of this format.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.
    Heleen

I'm mystified by your subject line, but if you want to change a default, make the change with nothing selected. If new text boxes are coming in using some kind of particular text formatting that you don't like, change the formatting with nothing selected. Since this is a template, it's probably a paragraph style. With nothing selected, choose the paragraph style you really want.

  • Camera RAW auto tone settings applied to jpegs

I posted this in the Windows Bridge forum, but a camera raw preference controls this so I am also posting here.
On jpeg files without any RAW setting applied, Bridge still applies RAW settings to the thumbnails and the preview are thus display incorrectly. Opening the file shows the jpeg as it should be, without RAW settings applied.
I have RAW preferences set to apply auto settings to RAW files without any current settings.
I have my RAW settings to open jpegs in RAW *only* when they already have settings. If I set this to disable jpeg support, then the RAW settings are not automatically applied to jpegs without existing settings. aka, Bridge redoes the thumbnails without the auto setting.
While it is correct to apply auto tone to RAW files without settings, jpeg files are already "developed/printed" and should not get additional auto develop settings automatically applied.
    My Bridge is 4.0.4.2
    Raw is 6.3

  • Wrong white balance in Bridge

Since I reinstalled my computer I have a problem with displaying Canon CR2 files in Bridge - white balance in just incorrect. When I open it in Camera RAW, for about 1 second it displays still incorrectly, but then colours of the picture change and white balance is correct - I can even see that histogram changes slightly at the same moment. Than it opens in Photoshop correctly too. White balance is set to "as shot". I have PS CS6 and ACR 8.1 as part of Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium (all updates are installed). Anyone can solve the problem? I can say that I tried to install Creative Suite on 2 different computers and the problem is in both cases.

But when I open fool preview in Bridge (space, then left mouse click), after a short time when preview renders, the picture becomes fine. So I wonder what picture is displayed in Bridge non-full-screen preview?
Let's first focus on your preference settings. Try these settings:
In Bridge under Adobe Bridge CC open the Camera Raw preferences.
In the section 'Default Image Settings' make sure the the above 2 are NOT checked (Auto tone and auto grayscale)
It is useful to have checked defaults to specific serial number when you did generate a custom default in ACR and iso specific is only useful if you have saved all different iso settings as different ACR defaults.
Then go to same menu and open Bridge Preferences.
In the section Cache under options have only a checkmark in front of 'Keep 100% previews in Cache', don't use the option to export cache to folder.
Also increase the slider for cache size a bit, somewhere half way or left to halfway should be good enough.
Under Advanced / miscellaneous only have a check mark in front of generate monitor sized previews, leave the other 2 blank.
Then in the content window with the problem files be sure to have no hidden cache folders. Use menu view / show hidden files and search for document icons with BridgeCache and BridgeCacheT. If they are here delete both to the trash.
Then restart Bridge and try again
Also might be related to not having synced the color settings in Bridge when having more Suite apps installed from CC.
Any advice how can I check it?
When you have only PS installed Bridge uses the color settings you have saved in there, otherwise you should sync the Bridge color settings for correct colormanagement.
In PS go to the menu edit / Color settings
Check if your settings are what you want and either read the name already given or save these settings under a proper name.
Then in Bridge use the same route (edit/Color Settings and check if the saved settings file is active in the list (Bridge tells you in this menu if the settings are synced or not so that should be easy to check.

You can't get this info in a contact sheet, neither is it easy to get other then look at the camera setting you have used to shoot the files. Maybe it is somewhere hidden deep down in the exif data but I can't find it with exact numbers.
Shooting Raw those WB figures are irrelevant because you can set color temperature and tint to whatever you like. Shooting jpeg your options are limited because of the fact the Raw data is already processed and changing temperature and tint effects the whole image.
Try shoot a Raw and jpeg together from the same scene. One with daylight and one with artificial light conditions. (personally I have set my WB in camera fixed at 5500 but with auto settings you can also see the difference) Try to correct the jpeg and the Raw file in ACR and see what I mean.
And to be honest, if your instructor at College would like to have this he also should tell you why he wants it and how you can deliver it...
