Auto startup of WLS on server reboot

I need to know if there is a way to get the WLS 8.1 (SP2) to start automatically
on reboot of a
Solaris 2.9 V280 server. It looks to me that a console window has to be "up"
for the WLS
server to stay up and I'm not sure how this is going to work if I create a S90bea
script
in /etc/rc2.d directory to run the startWebLogic.sh script. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Larry Fitzgerald

I'm not sure I understand your specific problem. Can you provide some details.
WLS does not require its admin console to be running, and it can be run in the background. (ie started via nohup from an init script.)

  • Auto start emctl dbconsole on server reboots...

    Hi All,
I am using Linux 5.3 Os and 10g (10.2.0.4) version of database.
I configured listener,db service and emctl service in auto start mode, means if my server gets rebooted then all these service should be up and running automatically.
this script is working fine but the issue is with "emctl" status.
after server reboots if I check emctl console through the url of "https://localhost:1158/em, then it is working .
but If I check manually this service through "emctl status dbconsole" it display as "not running", if I am going to start through "emctl start dbconsole" it display is already running.
now my question is: if this console is already up and running on machine reboots then why it disaply as "not running" when I check manually.
    can any one suggest me?
    Thanks,

  • VPN auto startup after power cut

    Good evening
I have set my server to auto start after a power outage. What I would like is have the vpn startup. So the server is auto logging in as a certain user, and then the user has a auto startup item. The server Admin.
The issue is that the server admin needs to you to bring the window to the foreground in order for the vpn to startup.
Is there another way to do this?

Does it power back on after a power outage? auto-boot only covers the boot after the server powers on or is reset. I don't see an option in OpenBoot for auto power on after a power interruption.

  • How to let database(10.2) auto startup when linux reboot?

    Hi all,
I installed oracle database 10.2 in linux (x86),and created a database.
I can startup the database manually. But database can not be started up automatic when linux starts up.
How to let database startup automatic when OS starts up?
the details shell scripts for auto startup would be appreciated!
    Thanks

I don't know LINUX but I know Solaris. In Solaris, you have a startup and shutdown script in $ORACLE_HOME/bin. Setting the field to Y in oratab means you startup/shutdown the instance when executing the scripts. However, it does not mean the startup script will be
executed upon reboot. In solaris, we place a script in /etc/rc3.d. Then the script will be executed upon reboot. Guess you have similar features in Linux.

  • Auto start CLS on server reboot?

I've found that while I leave CLS running with the AlwaysOn scenario it won't resume operation after a server reboot, say for maintenance or other action. Besides setting up some kind of Powershell scheduled task that runs on boot is there a way to enable
CLS to run automatically when the server starts up? That way we can reliably have logging enabled on the server during all of its uptime.

    Hi,
Which startup type did you set for Lync Server Centralized Logging Service Agent? If you set to Automatic you can try to change to Automatic (Delayed Start) restart server and wait minutes to have a test.

  • Oracle 10G Db Starts-up After Server Reboot, BUT Goes DOWN After Some Time

    Hi All,
I am really puzzled over this one. I have couple of servers running DB on them and I have used scripts to auto-enable them when server(s) reboot.
But there is one server where I see this funny behavior.
The DB comes-up after server reboot.
I can verify that in the startup logs and some more logs that I created.
I can see that LISTENER is able to communicate also.
But after a while, the DB shuts-down....!!
I have checked all the places I could. I have also tried to see the difference between this server and others (I did not install this one), but can not see any difference.
Is there anyway to find out (log) what is shutting down the DB??
Any help will be much appreciated as I am at my wits end.

  • Auto-startup EM for Solaris 10

    Hi all,
I'd like to put the Enterprise Manager to auto-startup when rebooting the server.
The database version are 10g and 11g, and the OS is Solaris 10.
Basically the manual command is: emctl start dbconsole
I'd like to setup automatically to execute the same command.
    Thanks in advance everybody.
    Alex

    Hi,
I checked the Note 222813.1 you mentioned, but it says about to restart the database, also it's already done this setup, but it's not included the Enterprise Manager.
Furthermore, I checked the oratab and its fine.
Any other clue to proceed on that?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Entries in nodemanager.properties looks fine, but how are you testing this functionality?
If you will stop servers monitored by nodemanager, stop nodemanager and then reboot physical server, on startup if nodemanager is configured as daemon it will start nm process but will do nothing to managed server process.
To test "CrashRecoveryEnabled=true" kill the managed server pid and then stop/kill nodemanager process. Then perform physical server reboot, now if nm is configured as daemon process server reboot will start nodemanager. Once NM is up first thing it check is the server it was monitoring earlier and if under directory $WL_HOME/servers/<server>/data/nodemanager it finds "pid" and "lck" file it checks if that pid exists and if not then go for a restart of weblogic server instance.
    This has worked for me...!
    Thanks,

  • After a server reboot - How to ensure Database starts automatically

    Hi all,
I have an Oracle9i database on Solaris 8. The Solaris server is a bit unstable at the moment ans sometimes reboots itself. I set the last column in the oratab file to Y (on Solaris, it's in /var/opt/oracle/oratab), but Oracle still doesn't automatically start after a reboot.
Does anyone know of any other settings that will enable the DB to auto-restart after a reboot?
    Regards

For Auto Startup and Shutdown of Database and Listener
    1)
Login as root and modify /etc/oratab file and change last character to Y for apropriate database.
    ORCL:/opt/oracle/111:Y
-------->> before changing it should look like ORCL:/opt/oracle/111:N
    2)
As root user create new file "oracle" (init script for startup and shutdown the database) in /etc/init.d/ directory with following content:
    #!/bin/bash
    # oracle Init file for starting and stopping
    # Oracle Database. Script is valid for 10g and 11g versions.
    # chkconfig: 35 80 30
    # description: Oracle Database startup script
    # Source function library.
    . /etc/rc.d/init.d/functions
    ORACLE_OWNER="oracle"
    ORACLE_HOME="/opt/oracle/111"
    case "$1" in
    start)
    echo -n $"Starting Oracle DB:"
    su - $ORACLE_OWNER -c "$ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbstart $ORACLE_HOME"
    echo "OK"
    stop)
    echo -n $"Stopping Oracle DB:"
    su - $ORACLE_OWNER -c "$ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbshut $ORACLE_HOME"
    echo "OK"
    echo $"Usage: $0 {start|stop}"
    esac
    3)
Execute (as root) following commands (First script change the permissions, second script is configuring execution for specific runlevels):
    chmod 750 /etc/init.d/oracle
    chkconfig add oracle level 035

According to the Grid Control release 2 documentation, the out-of-the-box installation is supposed to configure and startup the database, OMS, listener and agent automatically when the server reboots. This is not the case when I reboot my server (RHEL 3 and 4). None of the processes were started automatically. I do not see any entries in rc*.d either. Where are these scripts located?

Anyone experience similar issue? Are there any further configurations that I may have missed?
    thanks.

    Mine are in /etc/rc.d/init.d/gcstartup.
Basically a bunch of shell calls like:

  • RE: NT Server Reboot and Forte Partitions[Ref:C943460]

    Hi Bradley.
At our customers, we need one of our Forte applications to be running for data
communications to take place. After a reboot, we need this application's
partitions to come online. The way we did this (as you suggested) was to use a
BAT file, and then install this as an NT service (we used a utility that comes
with the NT resource kit - srvany).
This works fine for us. One of the issues we had was that the partitions tried
to come online before Oracle was running - this resulted in the dbsessions
failing and the partitions not coming online. We got round this by preceding
starting the partitions with a loop that polled Oracle until it was up. Needless
to say, piping all output to log files was essential for us to figure out what
    was going on.
    Hope this helps,

Subject: NT Server Reboot and Forte Partitions [Ref:C943460]
I have a system administration question for users with NT servers in
their Forte environment. If I have installed Forte partitions on an NT
server which I would like to startup when the server is rebooted, then
what are my options for scripting this to happen automatically?
Currently the only Forte process on the server which starts up
automatically is the Forte node manager, through the installed NT
service. I have been contemplating setting up a BAT file process as an
NT service which would wait for the Forte node manager service to start,
and then execute an fscript file to start the required forte partitions.
How is this situation being handled in other environments? Thanks.

    Hi Brad,
I am not sure if this is the right solution in the long run, but if you
login into NT after reebot you can create a simple client that "pings" your
service objects and put the shortcut into the Startup Group. I think such a
client may also be useful to monitor your Forte server for application
specific parameters, instead of relying only on logs/econsole.
