Auto switch wifi from weak strength to stronger one

Hi Experts,
In my home, there is several wifi router and wifi homepulp.
When I going from one area to another area of my home.
The first wifi signal is become weak, but there is existing another wifi signal is stronger than first place.
In this case, my iPhone is keep using previous wifi signal.
So, is there a way that automatically switching from weak wifi signal to the stronger one?
Thank you
Best Regards
Francis SZE

Hi, I have the same problem... I have set all 3 Wi-Fi extenders to the same settings with except for the SSID which Virgin media won’t let me.. And all 3 Wi-Fi points are registered within my ipad also other gear, I can guarantee if there is an interruption in service quality it will be down to the unit not switching over to the stronger Wi-Fi point.... very frustrating but easily manually switched over, there must be a fix out there, regards Greg.

  • Looking to switch career from Java to SAP Business One

    Hi All,
I have around 4 yrs of experience in JAVA/J2EE application development.I am planning to switch my career into SAP(in Technofuctional module).Actually, I want to switch my career from coding to functional domain(in SAP) but i don't know how to get into it.I want to work as close as to the business and get use of my technical background because that's all I got so far. Please guide me which SAP module i would choose to build my career and what steps i should  take .
    Thank You

    Hi SunnyB
SAP Business one is an intergrated solution with all domains in one application.  Things like purchasing, materials, finance, crystal reports etc comes into one single application called SAP Business One.  Historically SAP Business One developmed by a software firm based in Israel and SAP AG acquired the company and renamed it like SAP Business One.  My suggestion would be it is a good application suitable for small and medium type businesses where business processes are not complicated.  However, if you want to make career in one specific domain listed below, you need to look into SAP's ERP modules:
    1.Materials Management
    2.Financials(Financial Accounting)
    3.Controlling(Cost & Management Accounting)
    4. BI(Business Intelligence is a reporting tool and data mining tool)
    5. HR
    6. Basis(Technical module where installation and authorisation including system security etc are taken care of)
    7. Travel Management(Application for employee/non-employee expense claims)
    8. ABAP(Advanced Business Appln.Programming owned by SAP AG)
    9. Project Systems
    10. Others that I donno at this stage but exists.
My suggestion would be to go for anything as per your interest and not purely financial.  Of course you'll be rewarded good with any of the above modules but learn based on your interest.
    Good luck!
    Mohammed.

my router at home is D-Link router
    please help!

You have the same problem in two mobiles? Uou....
I have had used D Link router before, and I faced problems to connect my computer.
Now I bought Netgear, and it shows strongly better than the f.... D Link...
    Try:
    Settings>>WiFi, and then turn off Ask for Conection;
    Or:
    Settings>>Privacity, be sure the Location Service is turn on;
    Or:
In Settings>>General>>Reset, select "Reset all Adjusts". (Sorry, but it will change some personal adjustments, but will not delete anything at all)

  • Auto switch from LAN to WIFI

I am looking for some software or a way to auto switch from LAN to WiFI if there no internet connection.
This history of this is we have a XP machine that runs a process and its just left on for this and nothing else, with no keyb or mouse connected and we just remote to it if needed.  Our internet connection has issues and quite often drops out, but local
LAN obviously stays up, we have a WiFi connection to another site opposite that is ok, question is does anyone know any software that will for example ping a external host every so often and if there is no response will auto switch from LAN to WiFi connection
    automatic.
    Thanks.

  • Torch 9810 Need basics about Wifi auto-switching and tethering, please.

    Concerning my AT&T Data plan:
1- when i'm using the device by itself, all indicators show that auto-switching is working when wifi is available. ok, bb gurus, i can't afford any surprises on my bill, so...is it really working all by itself, or am i gonna have to play the "disable this, enable that" game to make sure?
2- when i'm tethered, i see my device is being used as a standard dial-up modem, so clearly there's no wifi to be had. but...during tethering, is there any hardware config that allows my device to become a wifi adapter instead of a modem?
3- i think i don't have hotspot capabilities, is that correct?
btw-i absolutely love how easy it is to check service/connection status.
EDIT: i just noticed that when i have wifi, the ssid shows up next to the "AT&T" on the main screen, i walked back & forth across the street and watched it change...holy-moly i'm digging this phone!

1- you said "If so, leave it on but be aware that if your phone falls back to the network connection, you won't get any kind of warning from your homescreen."
here's what i learned since i last posted:
as i understand it, BB internet services is something separate from my metered AT&T data (i think bb services is how/why i'm getting my POP mail, "reconciliation" rocks the house). the service has a useful status display showing how it's connected...this auto-switches between network & wifi before my eyes as i walk in & out of range. here's the kicker...in the homescreen 'header' where my active carrier is displayed, a connected ssid is displayed along with it, ie "AT&T - Public Hotspot" which also changes on the fly. huh...yeah...and tapping said header opens up the connection manager, this is one smooth ui.
none of that says my data-stream is also being auto-switched, but it would be a fair bet to assume if the services has a signal, the data connection would too. i'd like to dig into this a little deeper, i've seen several versions of the right answer in my research.
2- you saying i get the updated OS?
    3- see question 2
the rest of this you can totally ignore if you want, i've had one too many java's tonite, heh.
i'm an old-school hardware freak...i was changing jumpers on 486 motherboards & frying them back in the day. until recently i didn't need more than a phone (that old bullet proof nokia flip) but then i went to traveling on my motorized bicycle and upgraded to messaging & data. got a pantech link, it never failed me, i really like it a lot.
there's been times i've been out of cell range but sitting at a hotspot, wishing there was a messaging phone with wifi....like 35 miles north of haines alaska. i keep a little personal site if you're interested & if it's not against the rules:
    http://mb-rambler.mysite.com/
so i decided to get into a smartphone, did a lot of shopping, a total newb...i started by choosing the pantech crossover, and honestly for my minimal needs it looks like a real beaut. we setup the deal and the crossover was shipped but then misrouted. i was told 2 weeks for that to be resolved, and i got mad but remained calm. bottom line is the AT&T rep went to bat for me on customer service, and eventually arranged for me to go to the nearest store and get whatever i wanted. no crossover in stock. well, in real life, there was no denying the blackberry's. it was the torch 2 or the bold, i like a real keyboard. but i'm a total bb newb too, so i closed my eyes and pointed at what i could afford.
i'm a lucky bubba i know...because since then i've learned a lot about this version and its history, and the hardware inside is blowing my mind. sorry for rambling, it's just i'm getting into this.
thanks for stepping in to help out. i'm sure i'll have more questions and comments as i move along.

  • Is there a way to have your iPad automatically switch wifi connection based on signal strength?

I have multiple wifi access points in my house as it is very large. The SSID's are different, and signal is fine coming from one of the two access points. The problem is that when I move about my house, I will stay connected to the access point that is far away, and so I have to go into settings and switch wifi networks each time. Is there a way to set up your iPad so that it automatically switches connections based on signal strength?

Probably not, or .. maybe. I can't think of any reason why that would be added into the OS as the number of situations where it would come into play is really quite small.
If they're all entered as wifi accounts and all show as accessible, walk around the house and sign in to each one in turn. They should all be remembered after that; now, walk around while staying logged into one and see what happens when you get a big spread in received signal strengths.
I really don't think it will change on its own, but it might. Who knows? Even if not, it'd be a matter of not more than 10-15 seconds to make the switch manually.

do the latest iMacs (new slim version) still support auto-switching from 220V to 110V?

Yes. Apple power supplies work with voltages between 110 and 240 v.

  • No more Wifi from my iMac after switching to Lion

    Hello.
I just switched my iMac 24 from 10.6.8 to 10.7.3 with the latest updates.
My iMac is connected to the Internet using an Ethernet cable. The Internet connection works fine.
I used to use my iMac as a Wifi router so that my iphone and my air can use it to access the internet.
Since I've switched to Lion on my Mac (and not my air), both my iphone and my air cannot connect to the iMac.
I've told both my iphone and air to "forget" about my iMac previous details and rebooted both of them - result FAILED
I've removed the Wifi setting by clicking on on the iMac preferences and restart a fresh one ; I've tried to connect using my iphone and air - FAILED

Just removed the Wifi from Networks. Recreated a Wifi Network. Went to Sharing and Internet Sharing. Renamed the Wifi Name - SUCCESS !!!!!
So, even if you remove the old Wifi connections, rename them.
    (I think that's a bug).

  • At home I have two wifi networks , I try to use one of them depending on their strength of signal, can I not save  both their passwords on Apple TV , so that I can switch to one of the two wifi networks as required

At home I have two wifi networks , I try to use one of them depending on their strength of signal, can I not save  both their passwords on Apple TV , so that I can switch to one of the two wifi networks as required
Also the passwords are long and cumbersome to type every time on the apple  TV remote, what is the alternative if I cannot store them on the memory of the Apple TV

Is it possible that you are using the same password for the old O2 Study and newer O2 Apple Base Station networks?
If so, Keychain Access is storing the old information about the old network and may be associating it with your AirPort Extreme settings based on the BSSID that William has mentioned.
If that's the case, open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > KeyChain Access and look for a listing with the old network name. Delete this entry. You may need to power down both the computer and the AirPort Extreme and restart them.

  • Question about HP 2311xi - auto-switch source and delay wakeup from sleep

I recently purchased this monitor and noticed that when it wakes from sleep it will take about 5-10 seconds for it to wake whereas other monitors I've owned they have gone on immediately.  I was just wondering if this is how this monitor is or if I have an issue with it.
Secondly, how is the auto-switch source suppose to work?  I have my PC set to DVI and I have the default source set to my 360 through the HDMI connection.  I would assume that when the 360 goes on it would go to the default source and switch over to the hdmi connection.  However, my monitor does nothing.  What does the auto-switch source actually do or is mine just defective?
Thanks in advance for any help on this monitor.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Auto-switch source only works if there is no signal as it detects the port with a signal and auto switches to that port.  However, the monitor has no way of knowing exactly which port the user wants when two signals are present.
Default port setting is what the monitor will look for first when being turned on and doesn't necessarily give that port override capabilities.
Taking 5-10 seconds can be normal.  My third-party monitor at home generally takes about 5 seconds before displaying a signal, but this may have more to do with the HDMI connection (I haven't tested this with the VGA port).  I don't believe this is a cause for concern.
Let me know if I answered your questions.

After upgrade to Yosemite my MacBook Air does not switch automaticly from wifi to ethernet. How to sloven problem?

Have you tried changing the order in Network Preferences pane?
Open System Preferences/Networks/Click the gear symbol under the service list. Select set service order then drag. If your wifi is above the ethernet move the ethernet to the top. Click ok. Click apply (bottom left) and test.
    Hope this helps

  • I am trying to connect to my friend's wifi, i have a very strong signal indicated on my ipad, but cannot connect to the internet.  Yesterday i connected without any problem, can anybody tell me why i cannot connect today?

i am trying to connect to my friend's wifi, i have a very strong signal indicated on my ipad, but cannot connect to the internet.  Yesterday i connected without any problem, can anybody tell me why i cannot connect today?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • C5 doesn't switch back from energy save modus when...

When the battery is low the c5 auto switch to energy save modus. When you charge the phone it normally switches back to regular modus. Now it is only possible when I reset it to factory settings each time. The problem started after the last update. Does anybody have the same problem? Or does anyone know how I can do this manually.

Fantasy thank you for response. I wonder if someone from BlackBerry is actually working on solving this. Another Z10 user said he was able to avoid the battery pull by just turning wifi off when he went out of wifi coverage. I haven't personally tried this solution though.

  • E2500 - Weak signal that fluctuates from weak to nonexistant

This router is really easy to set up but requires a ton of tweaking to get any sort of decent performance out of.
Even with these tweaks the signal is very weak. My old WRT54G had a stronger 2.4ghz signal than the E2500 produces.
Sitting one room away from the router and the signal is very weak. Forget being across the house. The WRT54G could cover almost the entire house with a network connection wirelessly, this thing can barely get a signal outside the room it sits in (same room the WRT54G was in).
What's great about it: Easy to set up
What's not so great: Weak signal that fluctuates from weak to nonexistant
    This product has...
    Unreliable connection
    Short range
    slow connection

The performance of your new router depends on various factors apart from the router itself. The wireless devices in your network, are they wireless G or wireless N devices? If they're wireless G devices, you won't really see any difference, and in fact any N devices in your network would also suffer because of that. Apart from that, placement of the router also matters.
Avoid keeping the router in a corner or under the table or something like that. Ideally you'd want to keep it at a higher location. The signal always travels better from a higher location to a lower location. Apart from this, you can also change channels on the router. Typically, wireless interference can cause poor signal strength and speed. Changing channels helps alleviate this problem to some extent. I'd suggest trying channels 1, 3, 6 or 9. You'll have to try each and observe which channel gives you the best performance. Every network environment is different, so what works for one network may not necessarily work for another. Please let me know if you need any further help with this.
