Auto sync imac and laptop

I have both a imac and powerbook.
I often work remotely from the powerbook and need my files
to auto sync with the imac and vise versa with the most recent files.
I have heard of 'chrono sync' but am wondering if there is a way
to do this via thuderbolt cable via Carbon Copy Cloner?

Thanks but, I have iCloud setup and I'm signed into the same account on all devices. I don't think I was clear is stating my problem with or expectations of the iCloud document syncing function. I'm able to create a Pages document (suffix *.pages document) on my iMac and save it in the mobile documents folder but once I access it on my iPad the suffix changes to a "jpg" file and Pages can not open a "jpg" file.
When working on the document on my iPad, the only way I can save it a in the ".pages document" format is to push it though iTunes and then go into iTune on my iMac and save the document down to my destop or document folder. My expectation is that like the iCal, Contacts, Music, and Apps syncing, the document and data functions would be/should be seemless (i.e. same format on the OS platform as it is on the iOS platforms).
It may be a bridge too far to Apple right now but, if they implemented this capability it would be awesome.

I am going to have to agree with planb77. Look into other drivers in your computer causing the issue, not just the nano's drivers.
It is possible that security software is the culprit. Use this:
iTunes: Troubleshooting security software issues
You may have to restore your computer to a previous point. From before the issue started. Contact computer manufacture or Windows for steps, or do a search with a search engine.
I would test the ipod on a known good computer to see if its the ipod is the issue. My gut says no. You can set a reservation at an Apple Retail Store. Apple.com/retail .You can also test a known good ipod on your computer.

I have a iphone and my son has ipod and when ever he gets a new ap it goes to my phone hes 7 and so its alot of crazy things I googled to see how to stop and I came across to go to itunes under edit go tp preferences and then device and check don't allow auto sync between iphone ipod ipad but will that effect my icloud and my sync to itunes when we connect to computer. Sounds like you are sharing the same Apple ID for the iTunes Store.
If so, on your iPhone go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Automatic Downloads. Turn all off on your iPhone. If your son doesn't want to receive any of your downloads done direct with your iPhone, he needs to do the same on his iPod Touch.
iTunes on your computer includes the same but there is an option under the Apps tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes to not automatically install new apps in iTunes on your iPhone when syncing.

Trouble syncing ipad and laptop

I get the following message: Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system sevices.
I have logged into iTunes with the same account on both the iPad and laptop.
Any ideas?

Sync iMac and MacBook Pro

I live on my MBP 15", connect it to a 30" Cinema Display at home, and carry it with me when I travel. I'm seriously thinking about getting an iMac for home - I love how much cleaner my desk would be without a laptop and cables in front of me, but am wondering how I would keep them sync. I would want the same apps and same documents (basically my Home folder) on both. Is there an easy way to keep them both synced?

You can setup an iCloud accont to not only sync but store that data. You get 5GB of free storage space. iCloud requries a Wi-Fi network.

Wireless connection between cable imac and laptop Windows,

This should be an easy question so here goes. I currently have an Imac with a cable connection. I plan to buy a Windows laptop within the next week. I want to be able to access the internet with the laptop from another room. There are airports and routers from Apple and wireless network cards for Windows. I'm confused. What's the simplest way for my Mac to wirlessly connect to the Window's laptop so that I can access the web from another room?

1. Your new laptop needs to have a wireless card.
2. You then need a wireless router with several lan ports.
The iMac will connect to the router via ethernet cable to one of the lan ports and your laptop should connect via the wireless connection. There are many wireless routers out there that will do the job. Check out the Linksys wrt54g. make sure your laptop comes with a wireless card built it.

Syncing Imac and MacBook

I have an older IMac G5 2 GHz running leopard 10.5.8, and a MacBook running the same - I would love to be able to make them sync everything - I take my MacBook to work, then when I come home I'd like to push some button such that they connect and the Imac finds anything different on the MacBook and makes them equal.

Loading Lion on iMac and laptop

I just downloaded Lion on my iMac today and now I am trying to load it on my laptop.
I went to the App Store and clicked on Purchased. I click on the Install button and
enter my Apple ID. Then it asks for my Apple ID a second time and asks for my
credit card information. I already paid for Lion so I shouldn't have to pay for it a second
time. I tried deauthorizing and reauthorizing my laptop and it still does the same thing.
How do I get Lion on my laptop without paying for it a second time.

Sync pc and laptop

I have an HP Pavillion all-in-one and an HP Stream 11, both running Windows 8.1. When I first set up the stream, it asked is I want to sync to the pc. I answered yes and it was really helpful by bringing over my favorites and other things from my pc.
Now it is annoying! When I change anything on my start screen on either computer, it changes it on the other. How do I "un-sync" the two computers?

I understand you're looking for information on "un-syncing" your Stream 11 notebook and your Pavilion All-in-one PC.
Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.)
Tap or click OneDrive, and then tap or click Sync settings.
Under the Sync settings with OneDrive heading, turn off Sync your settings on this PC.

Is it possible to use iSync to sync my calandar and address book between two macs (on an airport network).
And if not, what's the best way to do it?

It's not possible to do this using iSync.
But you can use .Mac syncing, accessed via the .Mac System Preference pane. This requires a .Mac subscription however.
For a free solution (for now), try MySync:

Taking FOREVER to sync contacts and calendar with 3G, Itunes8, Leopard

I recently switched from the original iPhone to the 3G model. No problems. Happy with the phone. I also recently "upgraded" to iTunes 8.0. Not happy.
I have about 500 contacts on my computer (running iCal and MS Entourage) and hundreds of appointments in my calendar. It used to take maybe 10 min to sync my phone and macbook pro. now it has been running 45 min and is STILL synching the calendar.
what the heck is going on? anyone else having this problem? Also, I recently (yesterday) upgraded to 10.5.5 but this was happening on 10.5.4 also.
I'm stumped, and I haven't got time to look at this stupid "synch" message all day.
