with ipod classics [and not sure about their other programs] - and having about 65 gigs of info or more on your ipod - auto syncing when plugging into computer is a real pain - had to buy a huge back up drive to store all my music folder stuff - ipod won't open from that drive of course - will only use the c drive - which has no space - so must copy the files from back up drive to c drive if i want to add something new - then if i unclicked open itunes when ipod is plugged into computer - god forbid! - the syncing of my ipod starts without my control - apple needs to stop being like microsoft with the automatic crap computers do - leave the controls in the users hands always - no one wants the computer doing things through apple programs on its own - stop anything automatic on your products - and make changing settings easier for consumer/user - apple programs should have pop-ups ask us what we want to do [or not do] instead!

No you don't. You can store everything on the external and use it just fine.

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Why does Apple now force users to provide 3 security questions or use their ridiculous two step verification in order to download from the App Store?

This is a total pain in the ***. I've been using ios products since the launch of the iPhone 4 and they've suddenly changed to this nonsense?   Why does Apple treat its users like they're 4 years old?

Those things are nothing new. People were doing that three years ago and Apple felt their security was sufficient then.   I don't have a credit card on file so I'm not worried about anyone getting my credit card info.
I have sent my feedback to Apple.   Their response included "this is policy. There is no way around the security measures." and "I have provided Apple's answer. There is no further escalation point or anyone I can transfer you to that is going to provide a different answer at this time."

Yesterday is the first time my finger got so painful I could no longer work on my project. I iced it to help numb the numbness, usally the pain subsides when I stay off my laptop for hours however when I start working on it the pain returns and you need your index and middle finger to work that laptop. This is the first time the pain had not gone away, 24 hours later. It feeIs like the tip of my middle finger has a giant splinter in it, very sore! I bought the first edition Macbook Air laptop 4 years ago and never had this problem with my index and middle finger, until I started working on my new Air.
Look at how many people are having the same problem. It can not be a coencidence. This problem has cost me the use of my finger and the high expense for this new MacBook Air. I'm going to my apple store tomorrow and show them how many people have this problem with numbness. I think this problem goes way beyond giving me a refund for this computer.
Any thoughts after reading other people having the same painful experience?

PS: I know the trackpad is made of glass, so I covered my trackpad with a clear cover they sell to put on iphones however that did not slove anything.

Is there a way to display movies purchased from itunes from my ipad to my apple TV without internet (still using wifi)

I am going on vacation and will have a wifi network, but no internet access. I have tried to display downloaded movies from my ipad purchased on itunes to my apple TV, but get "Unknown Error -3". I can use mirroring, but not show the video. I am signed into the same account on both devices and the movie is downloaded to the ipad. The only issue I can think of is some DRM check, but I am not sure.
Has anyone been able to do this? It would be nice to be able to use my purchased movies on vacation without needing internet.

This was a big advantage of AppleTV1 - generally it did not need internet authorisation for synced material on its internal drive and was great for holiday/vacation.
I tend to use a Mac Mini these days when going away.

I too don't like this. I would like to be able to use Touch ID for purchases on the App Store, Apple Pay, & Apple Store without having to use a passcode to unlock my phone. Why not allow the Touch ID to be app specific? Let us use it when we need it, not force us to use it for everything or nothing at all. That ***** that you have to set up a Passcode for your phone if you want to use Apple Pay. I didn't know about that. I haven't set that up yet because I'm waiting for them to support my credit card. Now I'm thinking I may not use Apple Pay. What a pain! Come on Apple, let us pick and choose what we want to lock down on our phones!!!

Generate a Report Dynamically without User Intervention and Output to XML

Here's the scenario for which I am trying to find a solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have a series of reports that the users generate from a UI by selecting the report, setting the values for a list of parameters, and then click a submit button. The report is generated in the UI for them to view. They can print it from here or export it to Excel.
They would like to be able to schedule a report to run daily without user intervention using a saved set of parameters. The system would run the report automatically and email it to a defined set of email addresses.
To do this, we need to have the report generated in a string or xml so a Java process can read it and email it.
I see that I can change a report's template to export:xml so I feel that it is possible. How can I export a report to XML without user intervention? Can the report template be changd dynamically at runtime? Ideally, I need some way to call this same report and have it output as a string data or xml to be used by a Java process that would store and generate the report for email.

From Program1 you are calling Program2, using submit syntax (inside Program1).
While using submit, if you have correctly filled up the selection screen of program2, then it will AUTOMATICALLY get executed, WITHOUT F8.
If there is any compulsary field in program 2, which does not get populated, then it will not run automatically, or unless some special code is written in program2.
If you do not want the output of Program2 on screen, then u can use
SUBMIT Program2 AND RETURN.
In that case, no selection screen (of program2) will appear and neither the output of program 2.

I'd like to know how I can store movies on the Apple TV without having to keep them in the iTunes library. I'd like to use the 160Gb of space on my Apple TV without having to use the same space on my nearly full MBP hard disk !

Purchases are considered final but you can try the 'report a problem' link to contact iTunes Support and see if they will refund or credit you : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work then you can try contacting iTunes Support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption
If the purchase was made on an iOS device then to try and stop it happening again you can use Settings > General > Restrictions to turn off in-app purchases, and you can require your password to be entered for every download.
