Auto update of podcasts

I want to autoupdate my podcasts every day at 7.00am but can't figure out how to alter the time for the update, which is currently set at 10.00 am.
This is using Itunes 7.
BTW I do miss the big "update now button " on Itunes 6.
Would be very grateful for any help.
Cheers.

There is no way known to me to adjust the auto-update time, except from updating once at the desired time.
The 'update' button is now called 'Refresh' and located at the lower right in the Podcast window.
Hope this helps.

  • How to schedule "Update ALL Podcasts" job

    Hi,
New to this. I want to shcedule iTunes to auto update all podcasts (checking for new episodes and downloading them) at say 2am.
I can see Check every 24 hours in Settings ... but that but that checks 24 hours from last update ... and I'm not up at 2am, browsing iTunes!
Is there command language or the like so as to add it in to Windows XP Scheduler?
Any ideas anyone? Any help appreciated.

It is recommended you run this concurrent program on regular basis. For the parameters settings, it depends on your requirements.
More details about this concurrent program can be found in the following notes:

  • Auto-update iPod (with Podcasts)

    Hello all,
I did use "Search" but couldn't find anything related so kindly point me to the source if this has been answered before. Thanks.
How can I auto-update my iPod with selected Podcasts ?
For example, how can I let iTunes (or a script??) copy the contents of a smart folder (containing the podcasts I am after) to the iPod folder.
All I want is to attach my iPod and have it updated automatically ...
    Any ideas?
Thanks a lot for your help,
    chris

If you subscribe to the podcasts inside iTunes, then the episodes will automatically load to the iPod. You can either subscribe to them through the store or directly from the podcaster's website by plugging their XML url into an iTunes' "Subscribe to podcast" command in the Advanced menu.

  • Go from manually update to auto-update without losing songs?

I was trying to delete some podcasts from my ipod, and was following the directions on the help menu which told me to go to preferences and choose manual update, then delete. I tried it, and it didn't work. When I decided to go back to auto update, I received a message that everything on my ipod would be deleted and the update would be just what is on the itunes on that machine. I have more than one computer, and have itunes on each one. There are different songs on each computer. If I go to manually update on this computer, it will erase the songs I've put on from other computers. All this and I still have the unwanted podcasts. Can anyone help me to go back to auto-update without losing songs? If worse comes to worst I guess I'll have to update, lose the songs, and then re-update at my other computers. thanks.

Afraid that's not possible. If you go to auto-update, the iPod gets cleared and replaced with the current contents of the iTunes library.

  • Do Auto-Updating Smart Playlists really work?

I followed the old thread about auto-updating smart playlists not updating automatically on the iPod. Apparently the 2006-1-10 update fixes it, but some smart playlists still aren't updating for me. The simple rating-based playlists work (they update), but more complex smart playlists such as this don't work:
    Match All Following Rules:
    Podcast is true
    Playcount is 0
    Time is less than 11:00
    Kind contains audio
According to this support document: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301910 smart playlists should update based on any criteria, but I'm not seeing that. Am I doing something wrong? What types of smart playlists have people gotten to work?
    Thanks.

I've posted a better version of this thread in the "Using the iPod with color display" forum.

  • Problems with login on iPod after auto update of S...

My father-in-law "V" uses Skype on iPod. Recently Skype auto-updated and "V" could no longer login into his account. I tried to help, sending his email on file to Skype and getting instructions on how to reset password. I suspected that he just forgot right spelling of his PW. Email came from Skype with instructions on resetting PW, but I noticed that Skype name mentined there is almost right. Almost is because it had extra "1" in the end, which "V" did not have. I had to delete and re-install Skype on his iPod to make it work. I tried to use his correct Skype name in Login space and new password, but it did not work. Then I used his name with extra"1" at the end as in Skype's email and newly changed PW. And it worked, but surely enough, all his contacts were gone.
How can we restore his login to right name which he always used? This, I assume, would solve problem of vanished contacts. How come his Skype name suddenly changed without "V" himself doing that?

In reference to the linked article I already had the ipod options set to automatically update the podcasts for selected episodes. I just set it to manual and back to automatic, perhaps this will fix it. The mysterious podcasts playlist has appeared twice today for me so far.

  • Auto updates...is there another way??

I have a 40GB photo Ipod and so far I have only put songs on it. The computer I use to put stuff on my ipod is my mom's work computer and she doesn't like her itunes library getting more than about 200 songs in it. I share itunes on that computer with my mom and my brother so I chose manual update in order to avoid getting my brother and mom's songs on my ipod. Now in trying to put on my podcasts and photos I can't just drag and drop the way I have been with my playlists. How can I get photos and podcasts on without using auto update? If i change over at this point will all the songs I deleted from the library dissappear from my ipod?
any enlightnement you can provide is greatly accepted!
    thanks,
    eppy

Problem solved... I LOVE tiger... if anyone else has my issue... just check prefs... lol I'm such a blonde!!

Thank you for keeping this discussion alive, and for the continued troubleshooting and evaluation.
I have yet to hear back from Level 2 Support regarding the Podcast-Smart Playlist issue, but in the meanwhile, http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=1514307#1514307 remains active if people would like it to, and the most recently update from Level 2 is here: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=1683550 (30 Jan).

  • Can I auto update the address book?

When  I plug in the Touch the battery charges, but the apple address book does not update automatically? Anyway that it could?

    Short answer - no.
Once you subscribe to a Podcast it will auto update automatically. If you don't want to get every show that's released, simply don't subscribe and donwload the shows you want.
I think an easier solution is just to change your iPod Prefrences so that only the podcasts you select are transferred to your iPod. This way you will have all your podcasts on your Mac and only the ones you choose on your iPod.

  • Firefox auto-update bounces back end forth between 3.6.11 and 3.6.12

Firefox keeps going through the following apparently endless cycle: It realizes it's not on the latest version and auto-updates from 3.6.11 to 3.6.12. Everything is fine for a few uses, then it tells me it needs to reboot to complete an update, upon which its "completion" of the update results in it reverting back to 3.6.11. After a few uses of that version the entire cycle repeats (It again wants to install an update to 3.6.12)... and so it continues

  • Client Auto-Update questions

We just updated our Dev system to SP5 with Patch 2, but the clients are not updating automatically.
I have checked that the Client and Admin boxes are checked for auto-update and can see nowhere else that this can be done.
I double-checked with the Master Install guide, and this appears to be the only thing that I need to do to make it work.
The clients are currently at 502, and they should now be 506.
Also, is this controlled by the files in C:\BPC\Websrvr\Web\Installation?
I have checked the live server (BPC 5.1 SP3) and the Dev server (BPC 5.1 SP5r2)
Both of them have EverestClient.exe and EverestAdmin.exe with version number 12.0.0.49974
Does that seem right?  I would have expected an increment in version number.
Has anyone else seen this, and can you offer any advice?
    Thanks
    Craig

  • How can I make sure iTunes doesn't stop updating my podcasts

OK I'm subscribed to multiple podcasts, but I don't always get a chance to listen to them so some of them will stop updating and it says something like "iTunes has stopped updating this podcast because you haven't listened to any episodes lately".
How can I make sure it doesn't do that? When I do get to listen to my podcasts, I would really like it if they weren't 3 weeks old.

someone made a script that fixes this. It seems to work for me. If you want it to do it automatically just make an iCal even for every 3 days or something that runs this script.

  • How do I roll-back to the previous version of Firefox? An auto update occurred and now one of the programs used at the office (ACT! v6.0 SwiftMail) won't run with the browser.

The office I work in uses a very old version of ACT!, an accounting package. This package has a component called SwiftPage, an antiquated email system that enables us to email from the ACT DB. SwiftPage runs via the web browser.
Firefox just did an auto update (that I will have to find out how to turn off) and now SwiftPage won't run as it is not compatible.
Can I "roll-back" my version of Firefox or do I have to uninstall and try to re-install an older version?
    HELP!

Try loading and using the add-on from this link: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/
Many add-ons do in fact work if you force them to run. The procedure to roll-back is given in this article: [[installing previous versions of firefox]]
Unfortunately the official Firefox policy is that you downgrade to 3.6 which is supported for a while longer, and not the now unsupported Firefox 4. If after installing and running the ''add-on compatibility reporter'' you still have problems there are ways around the official policy.
I think it is absurd that Firefox 4 may be used by tens of millions of users one day and a few days later those that upgrade to Firefox 5 should be not only told not to use a now unsupported browser, if they need to revert due to problems, but are actually obstructed in attempts to do so. • Auto update of Schedule Agreements

Once a schedule agreement has been created will MRP auto update the delivery date (for JIT) if the lead time is zero days and the new need date is today?

You need to check what is the procedure (T-Code) from which the data gets updated into these tables.
    For example
when we craete a material from MM01 the data gets updated in the corresponding table i.e. EKPO.
In same way you need to find the process and then you can use BTE (Busineess transaction events) for that process. BTE are only for FI module and these tables are also related to FI .
