Auto upgrades failing
First of all, we use the autoupdate functionality to upgrade our sensors. I have a test sensor that was upgraded to IPS-K9-min-5.1-1d (from 5.0.6) some time ago. I'm now trying to upgrade the signatures. It is not updating. Instead it seems it has been trying to re-apply the IPS-K9-min-5.1-1d upgrade over and over. I imagine it's been doing this since the upgrade. This is not the first time I've noticed this behavior. Is this a known bug?

Auto-download is not working for me either. It seems to be a server issue.

AIR to auto upgrade to (native installer)
Hello,
The first application (released) was created in AIR now we want our exsting customer to auto upgrade to (native installer) to support few native process.
The AIR check for the new upgrade avaiable and downloads the new (native installer) from the server but fails to run the installer.
We have used NativeProcess to run the newly downloaded native installer. The logs shows that the nativeprocess is not supported.
The supportedProfiles is set to <supportedProfiles>extendedDesktop desktop</supportedProfiles>.
We had also tried using openWithDefaultApplication() function to run the nativeinstaller but with no success.

Ipad2 not able to auto upgrade
My Ipad 2 is an old version 4, Usually should be able to auto upgrade when click "General" we can see "upgrade" at right hand side or auto prompt out to ask for upgrade the latest version. But my Ipad don't appear any message ask for upgrade. I'm trying to used ITunes download but always failed to connect to "Devices" --> "Transfer Purchase" even i was sign in at "Store" to authorize this computer.
No point in issuing idle threats at a user to user help forum only.
Copied from this link.
http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/
Video formats supported: H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format.
Which are very "open" formats.
Does this particular video meets these specs?
This video was acquired where?
iTunes includes an option to create an iPad or Apple TV version. iTunes also includes - create an iPod or iPhone version for video acquired elsewhere that is not in a compatible format.
When I've used a 3rd party app to rip video that was acquired elsewhere which includes default iPod/iPhone/iPad/Apple TV settings, I've use the default Apple TV version which works on my Apple TV, iPhone, and iPad. -
Flash Player Auto Upgrade ver 14, Won't Install: Error- Unable to Register
The Flash Player Upgrade attempted to install but stopped and gave me an error: Unable to Register. I have been all through the forums and I believe I have tried everything suggested. These have been my attemptsOS - Windows XP Pro, latest updates loaded.
1- I read a suggestion to attempt a "clean install" . I watched the YOUTUBE video that was on the page and followed it exactly. Attempted to re-install ver 14, and recieved the same error. this is the link to the page I followed: Can not install Adobe Flash Player. Error messages are "Failed to - Microsoft Community
2- I also downloaded the SubInACL file and the reset_fp10.zip file, followed the instructions and ran the file. Attempted to re-install ver 14 and got the same error, unable/failed to register.
3- I have attempted this numerous ways, rebooting the computer in between each change, re-booting after I did all, and nothing seems to work.
4- Downloaded Mozilla Firefox at someones suggestion, attempted to download and install, still the same error.
5- When I open AOL, it attempts to install Flash Runtime and the same thing happens. Error, Failed to Register.
6- Purchased a Registry Editor/Cleaner. Ran this cleaner and it did speed up my computer. Did clean uninstall of Flash Player making sure no files were on my computer. Same error.
7- Finally, contacted Adobe by phone. The tell me they can help and try to fix the problem, but it will cost me $39.95 per instance. And, I didn't get any warm feeling that there was a gaurantee that they could fix it. In fact, i could hardly understand the indian speaking tech support.
8- I also was told that after 1pm EDT, the new Adobe help page would be up and there would be a fix on it. Now, 3:20 EDT, and the page is still not up.
Anyone have any suggestions to fix this. I want to avoud the "F" word ,,, Format and re-install from scratch just to get this fixed.I'm using WinXP (Home Edition) with Service Pack 3, and IE ver 8. When I tried the auto upgrade to Ver 14, I got the same results as you -- "failed to register". What tickes me off the most is that the auto upgrade deleted the previous version of FlashPlayer that worked fine. Now I get no flash content using IE8,
Like you, I tried to install a previous version of FlashPlayer and got the idotic response "you need to install the latest version, Ver 14" which caused all the problems.
Maybe the brainworks at Adobe can develop a fix soon.
If not, I will never install another Adobe product on my newer Win8 computer. -
Where can i download the Auto Upgrade Utility?
I can't find it anywhere on your site. Im trying to upgrade the firmware of my WRT54GS since its power LED keeps on blinking. I'm trying to do the instructions on this link http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=175&p_created=1084205858&p_sid=btIGUT4i&p_accessibility=0&p_lva=703&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9Mjc1JnBfcHJvZHM9MCZwX2NhdHM9JnBfcHY9JnBfY3Y9Jn but i can't continue because i don't have the Auto Upgrade Utility. please help. thanks in advance.
I had the same problem, and followed the instructions as provided in several posts on the internet, without much help. Main problem was that I could not find the Auto Upgrade Utility or TFTP.EXE anywhere on the Linksys website, although I tried to use TFTP in Windows XP Pro. It did not work; the result was Successfully transerred 311 bytes, although the file was 2.99MB in size.
I called Linksys Tech Support and got a patient chap who didn't just tell me to go buy a new router, but knew what I was looking for. The first chap hung up on me, because he didn't seem to know much more than what he was seeing on his screen prompts, which basically got him to: "Buy a new router!"
The Auto Upgrade Utility can be located by going to the donwload page for the BEFW11S4 download page (http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/support/BEFW11S4/download) and selecting the v3.2 hardware, as this is the only one that displays the very particular Setup Wizard link for download; someone should lose their head over this one! Why don't they just document this. The filename is BEFW11S4-v2_SetupWizard.exe (aka the Auto Upgrade Utility). Safe it to a folder on your hard drive.
Once you have downloaded the utility and the latest firmware bin file for your router (preferably in the same folder), use these brief insstructions/tips to upgrade the router:
Connect via an Ethernet cable to one of the router's LAN ports (not Internet/WAN port) at 10 or 100 MB/s, half-duplex; slower the better, but it worked at 100 MB/s for me. Use a static IP address such as 192.168.1.101 for your computer.
Make sure you can ping the router from the command prompt (ping 192.168.1.1).
Reboot the router.
Run the utility, and use Server: 192.168.1.1, Password: admin, and locate the firmware bin File from the earlier download.
Again, ping the router from the command prompt, just to make sure it is still connecting and not timing out.
Click Upgrade. If all is well, the router will be upgraded without a problem.
IMPORTANT: Give the router a couple of minutes to reboot and settle down. When I upgraded the first time, the power light was still flashing and I (and the Linksys technician) thought it had failed and unplugged the router to see if a reboot would solve the problem. It did not. I repeated the steps, and this time I waited a couple of minutes, and voila(!) the power light became steady and the router worked like it was brand new again!
Hope this helps. Locating the Auto Upgrade Utility was the key to solving this problem for me.

I've configured the signature auto update via the GUI and CLI but receive the same error:

Any ideas? I've rebooted both the IPS & ASA in the hope that would resolve the problem to no avail. I have another ASA/IPS in a different site and that works ok.Hi, I got the information :)

I'm having a problem where seemingly all 3rd party software auto-updates fail.
The scenario is:
* I'm using a 3rd party
* I receive a prompt from the application to download and install a new version of the application
* I click Install Now and the application downloads the new version in the background
* When the download completes, I get an error that the update failed
Looking at Console for error logs, I get the following messages:
pixelmator - "env: hdiutil: No such file or directory"
transmission - "env: hdiutil: No such file or directory"
adium - "MD5 verification of the update archive failed."
fluid - "sh: ditto: command not found" and then "The update archive didn't contain an application with the proper name: Fluid.app. Remember, the updated app's fluid name must be identical to {CFBundleName}.app"
fluid - also displays a dialog box after failure saying that the Application directory is not writable.
I can download the app manually and install it without any problem, however.
I have tried verifying and repairing disk permissions, as well as rebooting my system.
Running Software Update appears to work fine.
Does anyone have suggestions on how I can troubleshoot this issue?I've done a bit more testing since I originally posted about my problem:
* I've upgraded to 10.5.3
* I've tried resetting my user profile permissions from my 10.5 install DVD
* I've tried reproducing the error from a new user profile.
The interesting thing is that I CAN'T duplicate this error from a new profile. Short of moving everything to a new profile, is there anything else I can do? -

I am getting the below output When i run r3trans -x
This is r3trans version 6.14 (release 700 - 04.03.08 - 16:43:00).
r3trans finished (0000).
I could see the below error message in dev_W21

regards Sundaresan.CJeremiah,
We ran into this as well. One of two options:
1.) Just run a repair on the SQL Server installation
2.) Repair the WMI settings on the SQL Server as descibed here:

I am trying to complete an upgrade of CUCM 8.6.2 to 9.1.2 however the upgrade fails at the very end - I have attempted this 4 times in various different ways from using SFTP to local media I get the following error;

An unknown error occurred while accessing the upgrade file.
A system reboot is required when the upgrade process completes or is canceled. .
I have previously used this ISO for other clients without an issue and have checked the MD5 is correct
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Thanks,
RichardWe have got this resolved, after raising a case with TAC they identified that we were hitting the following bug;
CSCub53409
The detail on the bug is very limited but in our case it was caused by an issue with the numbering plan, GBNB 1.1(21) - we upgraded to the latest version 1.1(29) and the upgrade has now completed. -

Installing GridControl 10.2.0.5 on Windows 2003 Server SP2. Initial install successful of 10.2.0.2 using existing database 11.1.0.7. The database was created new to use for GC. Patchset no problems until Configuration Assitant step "Repository Upgrade" failed with errors:

Considering uninstalling GC and Oracle 11g and reinstalling GC with "new database" option.
Anyone successful at installing GC 10.2.0.5 with an 11g database?

Can anyone help me figure out why the domU is just hanging/blocked?It's not hanging (blocked just means it doesn't need the CPU) -- it's just switched into a graphic mode that the console view can't display. You can either VNC into the guest, or change the kernel boot parameters by removing rhgb quiet and replacing them with console=xvc0 -- this should allow you to see the full boot process and answer the first-boot interview questions without using VNC.
You can get the VNC details by running: virsh dumpxml <domain ID> and you can get the domain ID from the xm list output. -
On Windows 7 PC, got the "upgrade iTunes" notice this morning, said sure, but the upgrade failed, now I can't access iTunes "invalid permissions"
I wasn't paying attention so I don't know the precise error I got on the upgrade failure.
All other iTunes upgrades have been fine...no brainers. Done several on this W7 PC.
If I re-download and install a fresh iTunes I assume I will lose my library...true? Can I find and save off my library so I don't have to "discover" all my music which is scattered all over the PC and a 1T attached USB drive.
Or is there some way to get the iTunes upgrade to successfully restart and install correctly?
Help!Hello there, Konami84.
The following Knowledge Base article provides some recomendations for troubleshooting:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.

Hey all
I had a problem printing a pdf on my mac, and then tried to upgrade my mac driver and printer firmware.
But the firmware upgrade failed for some unknown reason. And now the printer just have the ready and attentions lights on constantly.
I have tried to restart and reset the printer many times, and tried the HP firmware upgrade utility several times, with no luck. It just say it was "failed to upgrade"
Any idea what to do ??
My printer is a HP Laserjet Pro CP1025nw
Thanks
JanHello Jan
It definitely sounds like the firmware update failed. Firmware is like a devices Operating System. Without it, it can't do much. This is backed by the "failed" message and that your printer reports it has version 0.
The printer will need to be serviced. Please call HP Phone Support at 1-800-474-6836.
Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" to those that help solve your problems.

SCOM 2012 R2 agent upgrade fails crippling agents
Running into a large amount of SCOM agents that are failing the upgrade from 2012 SP1 to R2 and would appreciate any feedback from my SCOM community colleagues. Warning this issue is not for the faint of heart.
Plan:
I am in the process of upgrading 1900 manually installed SCOM 2012 SP1 agents to R2. I am using SCCM to deliver the upgrade using the standard sanctioned upgrade parameters.
Momagent.msi /qn /l*v %SystemDrive%\SCOM2012AgentUpgrade.log AcceptEndUserLicenseAgreement=1
Problem:
I have run into a problem where on a larger group of systems, 165 servers, where the upgrade fails and leaves the agent in a crippled state. At this point the agent cannot be removed cleanly via add remove, nor can a straight install of the agent
be done. What is required is a manual removal of registry keys and then a clean install of the agent can be performed to remediate. This is no problem and I am able to do this. (Note: all other methods of agent removal did not work ie:
Cleanmom.exe utility or add remove)
Task:
Seeing that we need to do agent upgrades in the future it would be great to know why this happened so we can plan for this in the future.
Notes:
Seems like a random sample of servers (2003/2008) with different applications running on them so that doesn't help in narrowing things down.
Looking at the MSI log, I see a common issue among systems that had this problem.

Ok so the obvious is that the installer is looking for original source installation files and not able to find them. What is surprising to me however is that the product references a 32 bit scom agent guid
387306D9-78CE-4E0E-B952-28A50CC8B3EE, however this is a 64 bit machine. Our build process dictates that a 64 bit machine only receive a 64 bit SCOM agent.
Doing a search on this product guid I realized I skipped some other references at the top of the MSI log that might offer some more explanation...

Well that is interesting, seems to me that in the first line the MSI installer reads the OM_OM12_SP1_AGENT_FOUND property and identifies this with a 64 bit agent guid (8B21425D-02F3-4B80-88CE-8F79B320D330), but then appends
the 32 bit guid at the end (387306D9-78CE-4E0E-B952-28A50CC8B3EE). This is the point of my confusion and my suspicion as the cause of the problem I am having.
Concluding thoughts:
Why does the installer seems to first recognizes a 64 bit agent, but then later changes it's property to include a 32 bit agent guid. Could a 32 bit agent have got on this 64 bit server based on the details of this log? Would this
cause my agents to fail the upgrade? I think so, but looking to bounce this over to another fellow SCOM colleague who may have wrestled with this before.
Thanks in advance if you took the time to read this and think about it. Extra points if you have any extra thoughts!
