AutoArchive doesn't execute in Outlook 2013

I have a problem with auto archiving in outlook 2013 with exchange server 2007 account. The auto archiving doesn't work automatically unless i restart outlook .after i restart outlook  it works normally
. any suggestions for this problem will be appreciated

Have you tried manual archive? Is it working fine?
Are you using the archive feature with default settings or any customizations have been done. Check it at: File-> Options-> Advanced…-> button Auto Archive Settings…
The setting might also have been changed if you are working in a corporate environment and your administrator has done changes to it. There can also be some conflicting corporate policies set on the Exchange server that might be causing the issue.
Damaged archive.pst file can also lead to the above issue. You should then close Outlook and use the Inbox Repair Tool (scanpst.exe) to scan it for errors or create a new one.
If your mailbox is currently being archived to a network location then change its location to your local hard disk.

  • Replacement option for pdfmaker in outlook 2013

It has been established that the pdfmaker doesn't work in Outlook 2013, unless I missed something.  I would like to know what are my other options ... I used the pdfmaker a lot and I want to download/buy something that does exactly the same within Outlook 2013.

    Hi Patske,
You can pay the upgrade price and purchase Acrobat 11.0 Pro.
You can navigate to 'Help' menu and select 'Check for Updates' and the software would automatically check for available updates which you can then download and install.
You can also manually download Acrobat updates from: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows
I would suggest downloading the trial version first and use it for 30 days to see if it suits you requirement and then purchase if required. There's no  difference between the trial version and the full version software. You can download it from: Download Adobe Acrobat free trial | Acrobat XI Professional

  • What to do when Outlook AutoArchive doesn't work

AutoArchive feature helps us manage the space in the mailboxes or on the e-mail server that were are using by automatically moving items to an archive location. These items can be Email messages, Calendar items, Tasks, Notes, Journal entries.
However, sometimes some users may find that Outlook AutoArchive doesn’t work as expected, this can be frustrating. In this article I’ll introduce some steps to troubleshoot this issue, I hope it will be helpful to those who meet the issue.
Always check the Default AutoArchive settings first
When AutoArchive is not working properly, the first thing we should do to troubleshoot the issue, is to make sure the AutoArchive setting is correct.
I’ll take Outlook 2013 for example, go to FILE tab -> Options -> Advanced -> AutoArchive -> AutoArchive Settings… button, we will see the AutoArchive window below:

To make AutoArchive work, make sure the first checkbox has been selected and you have configured how frequently you want AutoArchive to run.

If you select “Prompt before AutoArchive runs”, it will notify you before AutoArchive runs.

If you want to delete expired items, select “Delete expired items (e-mail folders only)”.

You should select “Archive or delete old items”, or only expired items will be deleted.

Select “Show archive folder in folder list” to let the archive.pst appear in the folder list, which helps you find archived items easily.

You can set the age of the items that you want to archive in the field of “Clean out items older than x”, the age is based on the last Modified date by default. I’ll introduce this later in this article.

Then you need to decide whether to move old items to an archive .pst file, or permanently delete old items. Once you have your choice, you can apply these settings to all folders now and click OK to save the settings.
AutoArchive doesn’t work on one specific folder?
Apart from the default settings, each folder can be set with its own AutoArchive settings different from the global settings.
Right click on the folder and select Properties -> AutoArchive tab.

You can select “Do not archive items in this folder” if you want this folder to be an exception of AutoArchive.

If you select “Archive items in this folder using the default settings”, you will archive items in this folder using the default settings as it states, and the “Default Archive settings” button below is referring to the same AutoArchive
window as FILE -> Options -> Advanced -> AutoArchive -> AutoArchive Settings.

If you want the AutoArchive settings for this folder to be different from the Default AutoArchive settings, select “Archive this folder using these settings”. The age of items can be set to a different one, you can even select a separate
.pst file to archive items in this folder. After everything is decided, click OK to save the settings.
Please note these settings are specific to each folder and are not applied to subfolders. Please configure the settings individually for each folder.
    Modify the ArchiveIgnoreLastModifiedTime registry value
Outlook archive works based on the last modified date and time by default, if you
reply, forward, move, edit, save, import an item, the modified date will change, this may cause the AutoArchive not to archive the item.
If you want to let Outlook to archive items based on the received date, you need to set the ArchiveIgnoreLastModifiedTime registry value.
Since serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly, please back up registry in Windows first:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Back-up-the-registry
To create the ArchiveIgnoreLastModifiedTime registry value, follow these steps:
Press Win + R to start Run, type
regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Preferences (Outlook 2010)
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Preferences (Outlook 2013)
On the Edit menu, point to New, click
DWORD Value, type ArchiveIgnoreLastModifiedTime, and then press ENTER.
    Right-click ArchiveIgnoreLastModifiedTime, and then click
    Modify.
In the Value data box, type 1, and then click
    OK.
Exit Registry Editor and restart Outlook to make the registry take effect.
Once the registry key is added, check if Outlook archives the items properly. We can try manually archiving:
Go to FILE tab -> Info -> Cleanup Tools -> Archive, select the folders that you want to archive and archive criteria, click OK. Outlook should then archive the items based on the received date.
    The Archive .pst file
As the Archive storage file, the .pst file may cause AutoArchive not working issue. If the .pst file is corrupted or too large, AutoArchive may not work as expected.
Scanpst.exe is an Inbox repair tool to fix Outlook Data Files like .ost and .ost files, it can be used to fix a corrupted .pst file. To find Scanpst.exe, browse to the locations below:
For Outlook 2013 on a 32-bit version of Windows:
    <disk drive>\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15
For Outlook 2013 on a 64-bit version of Windows:
    <disk drive>\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15
For Outlook 2010 on a 32-bit version of Windows:
    <disk drive>:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14
For Outlook 2010 on a 64-bit version of Windows:
    <disk drive>:\Program Files\Microsoft Office(x86)\Office14
When the tool is opened, type the path and the file name of the .pst file or click Browse to locate the file by using the Windows file system, and then click Start.
More details about the tool can be found in this kb below:
How to repair your Outlook personal folder file (.pst)
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/272227/en-us
Another scenario is the .pst file is full. For Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007 the default limit is 20GB and for Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013 the limit is 50GB.
You won’t be able to add items to the archive .pst file when the file reaches 19GB or 47.5GB, once the .pst file gets too large, I suggest you create a new .pst file to archive the items.
One more thing to remember, don’t store the .pst file on the network share, which we always reminder our users of.

Consider this program that tests whether a number is
    prime.
[attempt to divide by each integer from 2 to n-1]At risk of lowering the signal to noise ratio, I
should point out that the algorithm given is just
    about the worst possible.
I know that the point was to illustrate debugging
and not good prime test algorithms, and I disagree
with the correspondent who thought the post was
    condescending.
Anyway, the java libraries have good prime testing
methods based on advanced number theory research that the
non-specialist is unlikely to know. Looking at the java
libraries first is always a good idea.
Even with the naive approach, dramatic improvements
    are possible.
First, only try putative divisors up to the square root
of the number. For 999997 this is about 1000 times faster.
Next only try dividing by prime numbers. This is about
7 times faster again. The snag, of course, is to find the
prime numbers up to 1000, so there might not be much
advantage unless you already have such a list. The sieve
of Erastosthenes could be used. This involves 31 passes
through an array of 1000 booleans and might allow an
improvement in speed at the expense of space.
Sorry if I've added too much noise :-)

  • Outlook 2013 archiving doesn't work when cached mode is enabled

    Hi All,
I have a problem in Outlook 2013 which I've been able to replicate on two separate PCs, operating against two separate Exchange servers.  In both cases, archiving of old items does not work in Outlook 2013 when cached mode is enabled.  It works
fine if cached mode is switched off so I don't believe the problem is related to the archiving settings.
Has anyone else come across this?
    Thanks,

Based on my knowledge, Outlook auto archieve setting is stored in registry and only affects on local host.
If the AutoArchive doesn't work anymore, please refer to the follow article to troubleshoot the issue
    http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/archivenotworking.htm
If we are talking about Microsoft Exchange Online Archiving, I think it would run fine when you in Exchange online mode as your expected.

  • I run a gmail email address through Outlook 2013.  How can I synch Contacts to my iPhone 4?  iTunes doesn't do it.  Verizon doesn't know how.

    Greetings Experts
I run an email address through Outlook 2013 on my PC.  I want to synch my Outlook Contacts and Calendar to my iPhone 4 but iTunes isn't doing it and 3 Verizon stores have failed.  Advice?  Suggestions?   Solutions?
    Thanks
    JohnnieBGood

Hi randers4.   Already have.  I have two (2) gmail addresses - only one of which I run through Outlook.  Both are set up in GMail  on the iPhone under Settings but Contacts and Calendars are only set up to synch on the account that goes thru Outlook.  My email from both merge OK on the iPhone but Contacts and Calendars from Outlook doesn't come over and its the only one i have the Settings turned on for Contacts,Calendars and Notes.

  • Calendar synchronisation with Outlook 2013 doesn't work

    Hello,
I recently installed Outlook 2013 on my new Windows 8.1 notebook and would now like to synchronize my calender and contacts with my iPhone 5.
For the contacts everything works fine, but the calender just doesn't synchronize properly. The events from my Outlook calender are taken to my phone, but all the calenders from my phone won't appear in Outlook.
Furthermore, everytime I try to synchronize the calendars all reminders for the events, as well as all recurring events are deleted on my iPhone, which is VERY annoying.
Does anybody have an idea where's the problem? Are there some configurations I have to do in Outlook?
I'm using the most current version of iTunes (12.0.1)
    Thanks!
    Marcus

On your iPhone, verify that the iCloud calendar is the default for new entries (Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Calendars>Default Calendar)

  • Outlook 2013 - Searching All Mailboxes... doesn't!

Hello.  We have a number of users that are having problems searching their mailboxes.  We are:
    Outlook 2013
    Cached Exchange Mode
    Fully Indexed
Selecting the option to search "All Mailboxes"
Only brings up results from local inbox.
I have tried this at our help desk on several computers, same problem.
I have read through some of the postings on here, but nothing seems to help.  Any ideas?  Can't see recreating profiles for a large group of people and then have it not work.  Recreated my own profile and still won't search my shared mailbox.
    Thanks!
    ~Chris

    Hi Chris,
Sorry for the delay. It's the normal behavior of Outlook to not include shared mailbox even if you select to search "All Mailboxes".
Some users reported that they can search shared mailboxes after checking the box "Download shared folders" under Account Settings > More Setting > Advanced. You may also test it if possible. (I've tested it in my environment, but it didn't work.)

  • OUTLOOK 2013 permission shared calendar Free/Busy doesn't work for some the users Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2003 that use outlook 2007/2010

    Hello,
We are in coexitence organisation (transition Migration) Exchange 2003 sp2 and Exchange 2010 sp1.
Users in Exchange 2003 use outlook 2007 and outlook 2010
Users in Exchange 2010 use outlook 2007, outlook 2010 and outlook 2013.
Issue: users in Exchange 2003 can't open outlook 2013 user calendar when he has Busy/Free information as default permission in his calendar.
User in Exchange 2010 with outlook 2007 can't also open outlook 2013 user calendar when he has Busy/Free information as default permission in his calendar.
Is it normal ? or exist some configurations to do in order to coexist all thoses clients and servers ?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
Does this issue occur on Outlook only or both Outlook and OWA?
Since you have double checked the permissions via multiple methods, it seems there is nothing problem on permission. Please make sure the migration from Exchange 2003 server completed successfully.
If in OWA everything goes well (cannot see details), it should be an issue on the Outlook client side.
I suggest run Outlook under safe mode to avoid some AVs and add-ins.
I suggest re-create profile to refresh the caches.

  • Outlook 2013 / Exchange 2013 : Shared mailboxes - Mail stuck in outbox (non-cached), Mail sends but doesn't get received (cached).

    Hello,
We are currently experiencing some weird behaviour in Outlook 2013 since we added Shared Mailboxes.
When we run Outlook 2013 with cached mode
    enabled:
    - I create a new e-mail and send it.
    - The e-mail goes to the outbox, and get's 'send'.
    - None of the recipients receives the e-mail.
When we run Outlook 2013 with cached mode
    disabled:
    - I create a new e-mail and send it.
    - The e-mail goes to the outbox, but remains there.
Now to make things even more bizarre:
When I switch from 'cached'-mode to 'non cached'-mode, I see all the e-mail that were 'send' in cached-mode stuck in the outbox.
Note: The DNS server configuration in Exchange is correct.

    Hi,
How about sending on OWA? Does the issue exist?
To troubleshoot the issue, let's run Outlook in Safe Mode to determine if 3rd-party add-ins are related:
Press Win + R and type “outlook.exe /safe” in the blank box, then press Enter.
If there’s no problem sending emails in Safe Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this issue.
Please also disable the firewall and anti-virus program to send the emails again, in many scenarios the protection may cause the issue.
Please also keep Exchange and Outlook patched to the latest.

  • Outlook 2013 Deletes mail older than 30 days in deleted items folder

Environment: Outlook 2013 and Exchange 2007 (fully patched)
One user has an issue where only 30 days worth of email is maintained in the deleted items folder. Every day, any email sent to deleted the previous day, will be gone.
    Any thoughts?

    Hi,
Outlook itself doesn't auto-delete anything. It could be something that's automatically being done by the server.
Let's first check the behavior on Outlook Web App (OWA), and see if issue persists.
If issue repro's on OWA, then it's something on Exchange server side, I would suggest you post the question in
Exchange server forum for further assistance.
If issue doesn't repro on OWA side, it might be something on Outlook client side that deletes emails from the trash. For this scenario, I would suggest you first check if he/she has
AutoArchive configured for the deleted folder which might delete messages older than a certain period of time.
Please feel free to post back with any findings.

  • Outlook 2013 - wrap text group policy applied, not working with or without digital signature

    Hello,
I'm adding group policies to apply on our new installations of Windows 8.1 with Office 2013. One of the settings being applied is enforcing plain text emails and wrapping text at a certain number of characters. Policies are being added using the Outlook
    2013 admx.
When I check the options inside Outlook 2013 the group policy did apply successfully (File, Options, Mail, scroll down to Message Format) The option to "Automatically wrap text at character:" is set to 132 and not adjustable as it should be.
In the group policy I have it set to wrap at 132 characters, but when I go to a client machine and send a digitally signed email, it wraps at the default 76 characters. This makes for very annoying short blocky emails and multi-line hyperlinks.
If I do not digitally sign the email then the text doesn't wrap at all! (until it meets the end of the window). So under no circumstances is it wrapping at 132 where it's supposed to.
    Thanks,
    -Nick

    Hi,
What is your account type in Outlook? Exchange or others?
Please also let me know the email format that you are sending, Plain Text, HTML or Rich Text Format.
You can try sending the same emails in Outlook Safe Mode:
Press Win + R and type “outlook.exe /safe” in the blank box, then press Enter.
If there’s no problem in Safe Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this issue.

  • How to troubleshoot issues that Spell Check is not working in Outlook 2013

When composing a new message in Outlook 2013, we may notice that Spell Checker does not recognize misspelled words. When we enter a completely garbage word in Outlook, it won’t be marked as misspelled with a red wave underline. When encountering such issue,
we may follow the troubleshooting guide below to correct it.
    1. Make sure you are not typing in the signature area.
Outlook doesn't perform a spell check in the signature area, so if this is the case, spell check won’t work. To confirm if you are typing in the signature area, right click in the area you are typing, if you see a menu listed all you signatures instead of
the normal context menu, then you are not typing in the email body.
If you want spell check work in signature area, use Quick Parts instead of Signature. For more information, see
    Quick Parts.
    2. Check the Set Proofing Language option.
In Outlook, click New Email to open a new message, click
REVIEW tab > Language > Set Proofing Language, a dialog titled
    Language will open.
Please first make sure English (United States) is shown above the double line. If not,
you must enable the language for it to be available to check spelling.
Second, make sure “Do not check spelling or grammar” check box is not selected.
Note: If this method fixes the problem, repeat steps 1 through 3 to reopen to the
Language dialog box, and then click Set As Default.
    3. Enable Check spelling as you type.
To enable the option in Outlook, go to File > Options > Mail, click Spelling and Autocorrect button. In the Editor Options dialog, select the check box labelled “Check spelling as you type”.
    4. Make sure that you are not using a standalone version of Outlook or mixed versions of Word and Outlook.
The “Check spelling as you type” feature doesn’t work when using a standalone installation of Outlook or mixed versions of Word and Outlook. However, the manual spell check always works. In this scenario, we can set Outlook to
always check spelling before sending. To do this, go to File > Options > Mail, select the check box before “Always check spelling before sending” in the Compose message section.
    5. A registry key exists overriding the spell checker
To remove the registry key, please follow these:
Important This article contains information about how to modify the registry. Make sure that you
back up the registry before you modify it.
    a. Press Windows key + R to open the Run command.
    b. In the Run box, type regedit, and then press Enter.
    c. Locate the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Proofing Tools\1.0\Override
    d. Delete or rename the subkey.
    e. Exit Registry Editor. Restart Outlook.
    6. Recreate the NormalEmail.dotm and Normal.dotm template
If the two templates above are corrupt, this issue may also happen. To fix it, please browse to:
    drive:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates
Rename the two templates, then restart Outlook to see the result.
    7. Problematic add-in
Add-ins may cause various issues in Outlook, so if you have tried all the suggestions and still no luck, try starting Outlook in safe mode to see if a problematic add-in is the culprit. To do this, exit Outlook, press Windows key + R to open the Run
command, then type outlook /safe and press Enter. If the problem disappeared in safe mode, then go to File > Options > Add-ins and disable the suspicious add-in to resolve the problem.

However if I use Autodiscover to configure the Outlook profile the above does not occur and "Automatic Replies (Out of Office)" works fine.
    Client: Outlook 2013 Click-to-Run version 15.0.4551.1011 on Windows 7 Pro SP1.
    Server: Exchange 2007 SP3 on Windows SBS 2008 SP2.

    Hi,
First of all, please make sure you have installed this Outlook 2013 hotfix package (December 10, 2013):
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2825652/en-us
    It may fix the issue.
If the hotfix doesn't help, please note, this problem can occur after your primary SMTP address changes. The problem occurs because your previous primary SMTP address is cached in the Windows registry under your Outlook profile and this information does
not get refreshed for 24-48 hours after the SMTP address change.
So please make sure you have configured smtp address correctly, or, we can find some workarounds from the link below:

  • Exchange 2007 / Outlook 2013 "Your Automatic Reply Settings Cannot Be Displayed Because The Server Is Unavailable"

One of our users is having problems setting replies from Outlook on his local PC.  This is an SBS 2008 Server with Exchange 2007.  The client PC is running Windows 8 with Outlook 2013.  This issue doesn't seem to affect other users but this

  • Not sending email through with outlook 2013 saved contact

Few of my clients users are having an issue with the Auto-Complete option in Outlook 2013 where recipients don't receive mail if you choose the address from from the Outlook address book vcard. This issue only occurs on outlook 2013 and this is creating
a lot of issue with my clients. The attached pic shows the issue that occurs.
The issue doesn't occur if you manually type the email address. Also we tried with different emails and config pop/imap and it produced the same result. Kindly help as this is causing lots of issue.
E.g. If we send an email using outlook address's vcard at 'To' and 'cc' user by typing email-> cc user will receive email showing 'To' section empty :S and 'To' user will not receive any email..
     Some details to help:
Office version: 2013 click to run
    Windows 7 SP1

    Hi Nabbo,
Either your address book service is broken that why it’s not enabling and creating error when you are using Auto-Complete option (choosing contacts from
    Vcard).
    Solutions:
    1.) Create a new profile
2.) Or sometimes it’s happens, when contacts are not verified so first verified your address book contacts.
    Thanks
