Hi
Have you configured anything inline with this command
boot system flash in your config pointing the IOS Code ?
Can you check by defining the same ? do save the config before you execute show bootvar command after doing the changes..

• Replace a failed boot disk managed by SVM

Hi,
I'm new to SVM and would like to seek assistance in replacing a failed boot disk on a SunFire V490. The disk is managed by SVM.
Would anyone have a list of the steps/commands in order that will need to be followed in order to replace a failed boot disk that is managed by SVM?

High level instructions:
Use 'metadb -d' to delete any replicas on the failed disk.
If all the metadevices on the disk have already failed, remove disk.
Replace disk.
Partition disk.
Use 'metadb -a' to add replicas to new disk.
Use 'metareplace' (as shown in metastat output) to replace each of the failed metadevices (You don't actually have to list the new storage. It'll try the old name by default).
Everything should be green after that.

• What is difference between Null String and Empty String ?

Hi
Just i have little confusion that the difference bet'n NULL String and Empty String ..
Please clear my doubte.
Thankx

For the same reason I think it's okay to say "null
String" and "empty String "as long as you know they
really mean "null String reference" and "empty String
object" respectively. Crap. It's only okay to say that as long as *the one you're talking to" knows what it really means. Whether you know it or not is absolutely irrelevant. And there is hardly any ambiguity about the effects that a statement like "assign an object to a reference" brings. "Null String" differs in that way.

• Possible to initialize a String as empty?

So, in the following code i initialize result with null because i want it to be empty. However when i run the driver for the method, i get the first proper character followed by null for output. For instance "snull" is my output. Any ideas why this is occuring? public class Cipher {
String words;
String result;
String enc;
String ke;
String mes;
public Cipher(String en, String k, String me) {
words = null;
result = null;
enc = en;
ke = k;
mes = me;
public String encipher(String encode, String key, String message) {
if (message.length() > 0 && message.charAt(0) == encode.charAt(0)) {
String temp;
temp = (key.charAt(0) + this.encipher(encode, key, message.substring(1, message.length())));
this.result = temp;
else if(message.length() > 0 && encode.length() > 1 && key.length() > 1) {
this.encipher(encode.substring(1, encode.length()), key.substring(1, key.length()), message);
return this.result;

Did someone had this issue already ?
tanks for your answer.

Sep 23 10:06:12.111 GMT: %DOT11-4-LOADING_RADIO: Interface Dot11Radio0, loading the radio firmware (flash:/c1200-k9w7-mx.123-7.JA3/5101.img)
This is the reason why your 802.11b radio won't come up. The radio-specific firmware is either missing or corrupted.
Most effective way is to overwrite and unpack the entire TAR file. So let the AP boot normally. Don't worry about the radio for the time being.
Make sure you have the TAR file located in the correct folder of your TFTP server. Use the command "archive download-sw /over /force tftp://<TFTP IP address>/filename.tar".
Once the process is complete the AP will reboot.

Question, Is Bios powered by PS when Power is off ( Leds are Lighted ) or could Battery be bad,
( I know, I will get another, But I don't think it is the problem )

You should have had early warnings if the battery was running low.
Could have been some kind of power problem during night, of course. If you mean by reset that you restarted the system, that would however suggest the PSU is on the limit.
There isn't much use in overclocking your memory, so I suggest you run it at 800.
And please specify your PSU a little better. Watts mean nothing substantial at all. It says mostly what profit the manufacturer wants.

• Failed boot camp install - how to remove windows partition?

Hi There,
After a failed boot camp install, boot camp no longer sees (or can remove) a windows partition - Disk Utility can't seem to remove it and if I use:
$ diskutil list
It shows up as partition 5 "Microsoft Reserved"
I also have a portion of free space that I can't seem to incorporate back into the main OSX partition - how do I remove the windows partition and make the drive a single OSX drive again?
Any help would be much appreciated
Cheers
Ben
- New Mac Pro
- Installing onto internal 1 TB SSD
- 10.9.3
- Windows 8.1

Just incase others have this issue, this wasn't caused by using Disk Utility (Disk Utility couldn't remove the partition anyway) it was caused by repeatedly trying to format the Boot Camp partition using the Windows installer when Windows refused to install.
The solution is an Apple tech note (I can no longer find it sorry) that sates that no other hard drives besides the internal HD and the Windows USB flash drive can be connected while installing windows.
Cheers

I think what is happening is that the kernel does not have the drivers for the IDE controller on the board for the CLE266/VT8235. Does this seem accurrate? And if so, how can I verify the current kernel config, then compile a kernel with everything else Arch needs to boot properly? I am familiar with the old means of setting up a kernel using the 'make menuconfig; make; make modules_install' etc method.
Thanks for the help in advance!

Hi, not sure if this is still causing you an issue, but I just ran into the same problem.
For me, I have a Sharp PC=MM1110 which has no cd drive and doesn't like to boot from USB. To get Arch installed on it, I had to attach it to another PC (via it's docking cradle, which lets it show up as a USB hard drive), then boot the other PC from an Arch install cd and select the USB hdd for all of the partitioning etc.
When I rebooted after the installation, the Sharp wouldn't boot.
First, I had to edit the grub menu entry to point to (hd0,0), at which point I got the error listed in the first post... Failed to parse block device id's.
If i booted into fallback mode, it booted without a problem.
For me, the solution to finally get it working was to boot into fallback mode, remount the filesystem as r/w, and run mkinitcpio -g filename to rebuild the kernel. Once completed all I had to do was point grub to the new kernel image and it booted ok.
Hope this is useful to someone

• Difference between null string and empty string??

what is the major difference between null string and an empty string??
I wrote the following simple program and I could see some different output.
Other than that, any other differences that we should pay attention to???
C:\>java TestCode
Hello
nullHello
public class TestCode
public static void main(String[] s)
{     String s1 = "";
String s2 = null;
System.out.println(s1 + "Hello");
System.out.println(s2 + "Hello");
}

The difference is that an empty String is just empty but a null String has no value (i.e. it is not instantiated) this has signifigance since all Strings are objects.

• Failed boot after enabling devmon service with systemctl

I've recently reinstalled Arch and in trying to get a proper automount solution working I was playing with udevil and devmon. First I disabled and uninstalled ldm, which wasn't working as I wanted. Then installed udevil via pacman. I couldn't find proper instructions at first so I ran:
# systemctl enable [email protected]
and then rebooted. But that didn't work. Then I found something saying to run:
# systemctl enable [email protected]
So I disabled devmon@ and enabled devmon@MYUSERNAME then rebooted.
As the system was shutting down it seemed to get stuck at a part about trying to save a random seed. I walked away for 10 minutes but when I came back nothing had changed so I hit the hard reset button. As it rebooted I could just barely see a whole lot of red [FAILED] signs flashing past my screen. When the screen comes to rest I am greeted by this. Once it gets to this point it doesn't accept any input from the keyboard except for Ctrl-Alt-Del which seems to cleanly reboot.
So far I've booted my arch install cd and run the following on all my partitions along with trying the -p, -r and -a options.
# fsck /dev/sda2
Nothing I ran seemed to produce any output that would suggest there are any problems or anything like an error code 8, which I've read elsewhere is an operational error, whatever that means.
Next I read up about chroot and gave that a go. I chrooted into my arch install and decided to disable the devmon@MYUSERNAME service and uninstall udevil incase that was interfering somehow. I also checked out the journalctl per the screenshots instructions but didn't really understand it. Also not sure on where that log information is stored so I can upload it here.
Any help would be appreciated.

I've not made any progress with this issue. I've decided it has to do with the random seed, but I can't find any information on it via ArchWiki, searching the forum or google.

• My BOOTCAMP partition can't be mounted and can boot but will fail boot, doesn't show in shartup disks what do I do?

Hi everybody.
After Updating the new 2.9EFI update for the 2012 MacBook Pro, I restarted the computer which was set to boot into windows. The windows booted and show the BSOD for a brief moment then closing. After I booted into Windows again to see "BOOT FAILED!" I switched into Mac OSX to see that the the BOOTCAMP partition was also gone in finder so I opened Disk Utility to see that the drive was unmountable so I did disk repair and said everything was fine. I booted windows again and now it says a different message, something on the lines of NO OS. I don't know whats happening and everything was working fine until this EFI 2.9 UPDATE and I want to keep my OS and don't want to get rid of windows. I also wan't to keep my documents on Windows. BOOTCAMP still says I have windows installed. Nothing else recognises windows is there exept DISK UTILITY. I did not tamper with windows. I also can't delete partition... MAC OS is working fine.

• Failed Receiver Determination on empty file

I have seen suggestions matching the solution I have tried, but it is not working in my scenario.
The scenario is an empty CSV file inbound to 3 receivers. In the standard receiver determination, I created a context condition for the 'SAP system' receiver, which uses RFC adapter. The condition is: 'Sourcefilesize not equal 0'. For an empty file, the 'SAP system' receiver should not be selected because it has mapping to the RFC structure. The other 2 receivers are SFTP and file, and the client requires they receive the empty input file.
I see the file size is captured in the dynamic configuration in the MONI:
namespace:  XI/System/File.....name="Sourcefilesize">0<SAP:record...
The error is: Problem while determining receivers using interface mapping: Error while determining root tag of XML: BOM / charset detection failed.
The system is PI 7.1, the sender comm channel is Advantco with namespace override and content conversion. I have tried using file type 'binary' and type 'text', with UTF-8 encoding - results in the same error either way.
The file is coming from an external vendor - I do not believe they will make any changes to it, so hopefully this can be resolved in PI.
All suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.

Hareesh and Osman, thank you for your replies.
I should have pasted the entire message. When testing in the IB, it fails in receiver determination..
""Error when determining the receiver: Problem while determining receivers using interface mapping: Error while determining root tag of XML: BOM / charset detection failed Error while parsing an XML stream: 'BOM / charset detection failed&#39""
Only the SAP system RFC receiver has message mapping - the SFTP and file receivers do not. (I have changed only namespace and system names in screen below)

This has been a known issue for a LONG time. Technically, it's not a bug since the behavior of the function is correct based on its design. It uses a default value of a tab if it receives an empty string. It's no different than with VIs having a default value for a control.
I disagree with that. Our own VIs behave like that since we don't know if anything is wired to a terminal or not. But many LV primitives work differently if you wire something or not. Index Array for 2D or higher dimension arrays for instance works differently when wiring a 0 (default value) or leaving the terminal unwired.
So I would expect the primitive to accept an empty string.

• Slow boot after failed Boot Camp

Hi,
I have an iMac, where I installed a SSD in a Thunderbolt enclosure and booting OS X from it.
That made it insanely fast :-)
Now I tried Boot camp to install Windows on the internal HDD which failed. Seems to be a known problem when using Thunderbolt as bootdevice…
After this, when I boot, the system hangs about 20 seconds, before OS X boots (Apple logo with the line moving). Just black screen before the Apple logo comes.
Seems the system is trying to load a not existing Windows…?
Formatted the internal drive, but it didn't help.
How do I stop this delay?
