Autocad 2009,Autocad Architecture,Revit Architecture?

Hi all,
I am using a Macbook Pro with 2.4 GHz intel core 2 duo and 2 GB 667Mhz DDR2 SDRAM. I recently installed VMware fusion 2.0 and XP because I need to use Autocad 2009.
My question is,
Can I run Autocad Architecture and Revit Architecture as well? What do you guys think?
I installed Autocad2009, but I haven't installed either Autocad Architecture or Revit Architecture.

Is anyone using AutoCAD Architecture 2009 in BootCamp on a MacBook Pro?
    Any licensing issues?
What about using BC with VMWare or Parallels?

Yes, my new MacBook Pro has been working great with AutoCAD.
I had only experienced problems when I had tried to access Boot Camp in Mac OS via Parallels or Fusion. In such attempts, my AutoCAD license had needed to be reactivated.
As for Lenovo, you will have nothing but problems. I had used ThinkPads for over 10 years, and I had been an Advisory Member of their product forums for some time.
All Lenovo ThinkPads suffer from poor craftsmanship, off-center screens, cheap plastic, which cracks, keyboard flex, constant wireless disconnections, and excruciating technical support.
I have noted links, with further problems, for you to check out.

NoteBookReview.com has been the biggest, and most credible, supporter of ThinkPads ever! This has been well known in the industry. With the launch of the T500 and W500, they have ended their support for ThinkPads. Read their reviews. They have even said that the MacBook Air is far more durable than any ThinkPad.

Obviously, I have given you my biased opinion, but the horror stories about ThinkPads are real.
    Good luck with your decision!

  • AMD Radeon HD 8750M on HP Probook 450G1 - Autocad and Revit

    Hi to all!
I have a problem with  graphic card dedicated to Autocad and Revit software. (Win7; 64bit;  HP Probook 450G1)
But when I look inside software - there is only Intel Graphic...

Any Idea how to use Radeon Card? Have tried to change in BIOS, but I dont see any options to do this...
    Thanks!

Apparently my laptop doesn't even recognize that I would have an AMD graphic card. I installed the AMD Catalyst Auto Detect program and it's just showing me this:

  • Autocad Architecture 2009 & PDFMaker 9 Pro

We were running Architecture 2009 and Adobe Pro 8. Turned out 8 was not compatible w/ any autocad 2008 (wouldn't give us the pdfmaker toolbars & pulldown menu). We were told 9 Pro was compatible w/ Autocad 2008 so we just upgraded 9 computers to 9 Pro. Architecture 2009 runs on Autocad 2008. The pulldown & buttons still will not appear and I've just been told by Adobe support that no 9 is not compatible. So if it is compatible w/ Autocad 2008 and that is what we have on the system why won't it work? We can create pdfs thru the plot screen but it is so so slow. Does anyone know about this? Are we in fact dead in the water on this? Thanks very much, this has been exceptionally frustrating.

Install the 9.1 patch - Help>Check for Updates. AutoCAD 2009 support was added in 9.1

  • Creating PDF tool bar in Autocad Architecture 2009

How do I get the Adobe tool bar and pulldown menus on my Architecture 2009 screen. When we were running ADT 2005 and then loaded Adobe 8 Prof. the pulldown menus and Adobe tool bars appeared on the screen. Now that we have upgraded to Archit. 2009 I cannot get them to show up. I've tried menuload in Archt. but Adobe tool bars are not there, I've done a repair install on Adobe and still no luck. I can create pdfs thru the plot command but the tool bar is so much more convenient. Thank you.

Thank you very much for this link. Architecture 2009 runs on Autocad 2007, which is compatible, but there must be something in Arch. that prevents it because we just cannot get the pdf maker button to appear. Our Autocad support folks don't know either. I don't know why it is so difficult to get an answer to this we can't be the only ones trying to do this.

  • Mac Mini and Revit/AutoCAD???

I want to venture into the Mac system deeper. I currently have an iPhone 4S, an iPad 3 and the latest iPad4. I also have an Airport Extreme and an Apple TV 3rd Generation. I really don't want to have a laptop that I would feel compelled to lug around and I don't think I need another desktop system. Most of what I run is MS Office and AutoCAD and Revit. So, it seems to me that an Mac Mini would fit the bill for me in terms of having enough space to install the software as well as enough space to install Windows and run in bootcamp mode.
But, I don't see much discussion on it. Does anyone know if this would be a good or bad idea?
Pros: Less expensive way to get familiar with the Mac full ecosystem...Can leverage current HDMI monitor and keyboards/mice/etc...small footprint...portable should I want to take it with me...Being able to run the Mac ported version of AutoCAD would be very helpful to assisting my students who, currently in lab, only have a Windows version of AutoCAD but at home use a Mac version of AutoCAD...could also play with XCode and see if writing apps is something of interest to me.
Cons: Might not be enough UMPH to use Revit in Windows bootcamp startup...Graphics might not be up to the task...would need to sacrafice a large portion of the Hard disk drive to allow for the Windows installation.
I don't really NEED it to be super productive in Revit- simply to tinker with it and see how it works on a Mac. All of my real production work would still be done on my high end Windows PC...unless, of course, things run REALLYwell on the Mac mini.
    Opinions please?

Is this a USB printer? If so is it plugged into a hub?
Sounds like USB issue on power up from standby. If it's in a hub try switching where it is plugged into.
Also have you installed/uninstalled any USB devices latley? Have something plugged in that is no longer plugged in? Could be lots of reasons.
I would also check epson's website to see if this is an issue & if there is a patch.

  • Illustrator CC is not importing AutoCAD DWG file layers correctly

In CS6, I could import (open) DWG files  and it would correctly categorize the input objects into separate layers. In CC, it is putting them into a group in a single layer,  which is a big usability regression. Is there a fix for this?

    Hi,
In attachment I have included two dwg files,  both were made in autocad 2014, one saved to autocad version 2007 and one to version 2010.
link to the files (link active for 7 days): http://we.tl/idgHIsqNgk
I have opened both in illustrator CC and saved them. Some objects in the Illustrator CC file are on different layers then in the the original autocad file.
I have opened the same testfile (2007) in illustrator CS6. (file testfile_2007_opened_in_AI_CS6). AI CS6 correctly imports the dwg file.
The same results are achieved with prior file versions of autocad and with the dxf file format.
Also the same results are achieved on different computers (all are windows 7 pro 64bit/autocad 2014-english)
    Software configuration:
    Windows 7 64-bit professional SP1 – English
    Autocad 2014 : Autocad architecture SP1 version l.108.0.0 – English
Illustrator CC : illustrator CC  (64-bit) version 17.1.0 - english

  • MacBook Pro and Autocad

My daughter is an architecture student at UF, we bought her a MacBook Pro with Bootcamp and Windows. We have had no problems until she tried to download and install AutoDesk onto the Windows Side. THis is what she sent me,"AutoCAD Architecture (all three versions on the educational site)

this is in the process of trying to download any of the versions in the
first installing the Autodesk Student Community Tool; .NET Framework.
When she calls Autodesk they won't support her can anyone shed any light on this? i would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks

Well, she should call back again and speak to someone else. They probably say they can't help because she's on a Mac. But you must tell them that Macs are PCs just like anything else you can buy out there...they just happen to run Mac OS as well as Windows, and if she's purchased their software she's entitled to support from them.
You can also search Google for "Reason: C:\WINDOWS\system32\advpack.dll"
You'll find many threads on it with possible solutions, but based on what I've seen you may not have the .Net 2.0 Framework installed. Regardless though, this is not really a Mac issue

  • [w520] Autocad doesn't know my quadro 1000m

    Hello!
Has anyone else problems with his W520 with the Quadro 1000M and Autocad (architecture 2011) ?
ACAD will not know my Quadro and the driver from the Autodesk homepage are not knowing my graphic card.
The Nvideo system control knows Autocad for using the 1000m, the nVideo icon in the task bar tells that the 1000m is used by autocad but when running autocad ist can't find any 3d hardware acceleration.
It's a liitle bit frustrating running autocad with a w520 and optimus.
    thanks

Not a user of AutoCAD here, but I use Autodesk Inventor on my W520 and it works with Optimus/Discrete settings just fine. I am running the http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook_drivers.html NVIDI Verde drivers.

  • I can't print to PDF from AutoCAD and can't find a phone number to call ADOBE for support. Very frustrated, please help.

Trying to plot to PDF from AutoCAD. Never usually have issues doing so, a few months ago it stopped working suddenly with  a warning message that said Adobe PDF was not activated. I didn't know what to do so uninstalled and reinstalled it which fixed the problem. Only now it started happening again.... There must be an easier fix?
    Thanks for your help!

Thank you for writing to me!
It occurs when I try to print to Adobe PDF from either AutoCAD or Revit (both autodesk products). My Adobe PDF function seems to be working for other applications - for ex. if I save from Illustrator to PDF, Word to PDF, etc. From this description it sounds as if it's more of a problem with my Autodesk products, but the odd thing is that until recently I was able to print to PDF from both of them! This happened to me once before and I uninstalled and reinstalled ADOBE but I thought there must be a better way of dealing with it. Is the number of times you install the ADOBE CS6 limited? I worry that uninstalling/reinstalling it uses up some of my uses - even though it's on the same laptop.
The error message I get is this:
    Thanks for your help,
    Lisa

  • Troubleshooting problems with printing PDF's from Revit and Cad files

I am unable to print a readable pdf from AutoCad and Revit.  Any Suggestions?  I do not have problems with Microsoft or Adobe products..Just AutoCad.  I have already spoken with my AutoCad dealer and they concluded it was an Adobe issue.

How was the PDF file created? With the Adobe plug-in to AutoCAD?
If you can provide some samples, we could look at the files and determine the problem. And FWIW, I doubt that your AutoCAD dealer has the competence to conclude where the problem is with a PDF file.

  • Mouse settings for Revit on Windows 7 Side of iMac

I have a pretty specific question that's really stumping me.  I work on a PC at my job and work in AutoCAD and Revit.  At home I have an iMac.  I recently partitioned it with Bootcamp and installed Windows 7 and Revit 2012.  I also bought and installed a wired Microsoft wheel mouse as it's needed to zoom, pan and orbit the views in Revit.  I can't get the settings right on the mouse in order for the wheel button to pan and orbit.  It will zoom in and out, but not pan and orbit? Any help anyone has would be most appreciated!

Is your system protected by a firmware password? Or do you have FileVault enabled? Or did you install Boot Camp on a Fusion drive?
Have you tried booting from the Recovery HD:
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.

  • Windows 8 not recognizing Boot Camp partition

Just purchased a new iMac 27", with some extra bells and whistles added. Also purchased a copy of Windows 8, with the intention of partitioning the iMac for it. I have followed the instructions here thoroughly:
    http://help.apple.com/bootcamp/mac/5.0/help/#apd5a4fe62a-dda5-4a8f-aca4-371bc726 d861
I am stuck at "Install Windows on your Mac" step 2. The partition that was created with Boot Camp is not visible in the Windows Setup window (unlike what is shown in the step 2 image from the link above). I have attempted to restart, remove the partition, and create a fresh partition, then followed the steps from the link again - all with the same results.
School started recently, and I need to install Revit and AutoCAD Architecture asap - any help with overcoming the problem above would be very appreciated.

    Kiecu,
I hope you were able to find the solution. I resolved my original issue, and it turned out to be a big fiasco over a minor fix.
I had to go into a Genius Bar, which took several hours. And what we discovered was that there was a small misstep in the setup guide on the Apple Boot Camp site. That is that the instructions stated to leave the USB or external hard drive plugged in the whole time, which was incorrect. Instead the USB or external hard drive needed to be removed when boot camp automatically restarted the computer. It was such a simple fix, but the online instructions caused a lot of head ache.
In other words, when the computer went into restart, I pulled out the flash drive, and it all went according to the instructions from there.
    Good luck.
