Autocad Architecture 2009 & PDFMaker 9 Pro

We were running Architecture 2009 and Adobe Pro 8. Turned out 8 was not compatible w/ any autocad 2008 (wouldn't give us the pdfmaker toolbars & pulldown menu). We were told 9 Pro was compatible w/ Autocad 2008 so we just upgraded 9 computers to 9 Pro. Architecture 2009 runs on Autocad 2008. The pulldown & buttons still will not appear and I've just been told by Adobe support that no 9 is not compatible. So if it is compatible w/ Autocad 2008 and that is what we have on the system why won't it work? We can create pdfs thru the plot screen but it is so so slow. Does anyone know about this? Are we in fact dead in the water on this? Thanks very much, this has been exceptionally frustrating.

Install the 9.1 patch - Help>Check for Updates. AutoCAD 2009 support was added in 9.1

Is anyone using AutoCAD Architecture 2009 in BootCamp on a MacBook Pro?
    Any licensing issues?
What about using BC with VMWare or Parallels?

Yes, my new MacBook Pro has been working great with AutoCAD.
I had only experienced problems when I had tried to access Boot Camp in Mac OS via Parallels or Fusion. In such attempts, my AutoCAD license had needed to be reactivated.
As for Lenovo, you will have nothing but problems. I had used ThinkPads for over 10 years, and I had been an Advisory Member of their product forums for some time.
All Lenovo ThinkPads suffer from poor craftsmanship, off-center screens, cheap plastic, which cracks, keyboard flex, constant wireless disconnections, and excruciating technical support.
I have noted links, with further problems, for you to check out.

NoteBookReview.com has been the biggest, and most credible, supporter of ThinkPads ever! This has been well known in the industry. With the launch of the T500 and W500, they have ended their support for ThinkPads. Read their reviews. They have even said that the MacBook Air is far more durable than any ThinkPad.

Honestly, if you do not go for a MacBook Pro, go for a HP Elitebook.
Obviously, I have given you my biased opinion, but the horror stories about ThinkPads are real.
    Good luck with your decision!

  • Creating PDF tool bar in Autocad Architecture 2009

How do I get the Adobe tool bar and pulldown menus on my Architecture 2009 screen. When we were running ADT 2005 and then loaded Adobe 8 Prof. the pulldown menus and Adobe tool bars appeared on the screen. Now that we have upgraded to Archit. 2009 I cannot get them to show up. I've tried menuload in Archt. but Adobe tool bars are not there, I've done a repair install on Adobe and still no luck. I can create pdfs thru the plot command but the tool bar is so much more convenient. Thank you.

Thank you very much for this link. Architecture 2009 runs on Autocad 2007, which is compatible, but there must be something in Arch. that prevents it because we just cannot get the pdf maker button to appear. Our Autocad support folks don't know either. I don't know why it is so difficult to get an answer to this we can't be the only ones trying to do this.

  • Autocad 2009,Autocad Architecture,Revit Architecture?

    Hi all,
I am using a Macbook Pro with 2.4 GHz intel core 2 duo and 2 GB 667Mhz DDR2 SDRAM. I recently installed VMware fusion 2.0 and XP because I need to use Autocad 2009.
    My question is,
Can I run Autocad Architecture and Revit Architecture as well? What do you guys think?
I installed Autocad2009, but I haven't installed either Autocad Architecture or Revit Architecture.

  • My mid-2009 MacBook Pro's hard drive is near death. I want to install a new SSD and work from scratch. Please help.

Recently, my mid-2009 MacBook Pro has been crashing when I close the screen ("it's having a problem recognizing when the screen is closed/open and deciding what to do, error overload etc.").  It wasn't an SMC issue so I took it to an Apple Store, ran some tests, and decided my hard-drive is failing.
Not wanting to spend an insane amount of money on some "official apple hard-drive," I want to install a new 256GB SSD instead.  Hoping to squeeze as much life out of this computer as possible (in January I upgraded from 4 GB RAM to 8 GB), I would like to try and start from scratch, i.e. back-up important folders, music, photos etc. and only take that to the new hard-drive.  If someone could explain all the steps I need to take to safely complete this task (or point me in the direction of a guide) I'd appreciate it.
    Potentially Important info:
         Model:                mid-2009 13'' MacBook Pro
Processor:          2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
         Memory:             4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
         Software:            OS X 10.8.4
    Some additional questions I have...
Should I be concerned with making a fully bootable back-up (not sure what that is called) as well?  If so, what program should I use to create it?
How much more life should I try and push out of this computer?  I'm an engineering student and really only use it for web-surfing, music, and
word-processing.  The batter was replaced in March, the RAM was upgraded to 8 GB in January.  When the battery was swapped, the trackpad went           nuts so that's new too.  Only other issues are a slightly loose audio jack and the left side of the screen being slightly wobbly (hinge is worn I'm told).

Well there is no "official Apple HD / SSD" in any regard, no worries there.
If as you say youre only using same for surfing and word processing, why the need for a SSD? You would not notice any speed diff. in use on either of those,....in boot times yes, but in word or surfing, not.
You can push it likely a few more years, for mere surfing and word processing,...many many years.   Up TO the point that any major fixes become unrealistic relative to getting a new(ER) machine.
Concerned with a boot clone?  yes and no.  Its an ideal immediate recovery, since you cannot boot from Time Machine, ....in case of HD crash, recovery takes seconds from boot, or 20 mins or so from removing old and installing a clone. All the prosumers and pros have at least one updated clone of their prime machines.
You can do a "fresh install" if you choose, however if your current drive is FINE, why not merely clone it and save yourself some headache?...., but that is your prerogative of course.    Ideally 2 drives, one to backup your data (you need that regardless of installing a new drive for sake of a backup/archive,...ideally 2 actually, not merely one).
You could clone internal to NEW SSD/HD , ...then offload unnecessary files to an external to free up space and clutter and run off the clone, and this would only take a couple hours......the clone itself takes approx. 40+ mins.
    CLONE Apps :
Superduper does not clone the recovery partition, but that is NOT necessary if you keep the original HD as a “backup clone”. Most don’t bother with the recovery partition in a clone, however that is your prerogative.

  • 2009 Mac Pro will not boot up under Windows

I have an Early 2009 Mac Pro system (Mac Pro 4,1) and I've had this system for 3 years already and have been working under OS X with this system ever since I purchased it.
However, when I tried to boot off my Windows disk, something very interesting happens. The Mac Pro WILL NOT boot up off the Windows disk or a known working Windows partition if two monitors are connected. Upon holding down the option key and selecting the Windows partition, I will get a black screen on one monitor (the one connected via Mini Displayport) and the other screen receives no signal and will enter standby and the system is halted. It does not respond to keystrokes, there is no hard drive activity, no measured power increase on the UPS, no apparent network activity, nothing. The only way to exit this scenario (from what I can tell) is to power off the machine, disconnect the display on DVI, power on the machine again, select the Windows partition wait for the system to reach the login window and reconnect the DVI monitor (at which time Windows recognizes it immediately and the system works fine again).
My question to the community is, does anybody know why this is happening and is there a known fix for this? Quite frankly, having to disconnect a monitor just to restart is very tedious and frustrating.
I have two Samsung P2350 monitors attached to an ATI Radeon HD 4870 (512MB, from Apple). One is monitor is connected via directly DVI and the other is using a Mini Displayport to DVI adapter. Both monitors work fine under OS X with no issue. At first, I thought that this may be a driver issue on the Windows side and after installing all the latest updates and drivers the issue is still apparent. From what I can tell, this doesn't seem like a software issue but rather a firmware or EFI issue as this happens before Windows even loads.
If anyone knows of a fix or what to do in this situation, or if you are also having this issue, I would love to hear your input!
    Thank you!
For the record, I am running all the latest software builds on the OS X side (10.7.4, not that it would really matter at this point). I have also disconnected all unnecessary equipment in a trial and error scenario but the results are still the same.
The system passes all ASD testing.
The full specification of the computer and all connected equipment are as follows:
    2009 Mac Pro (4,1) 8-Core
    2x Intel Xeon Nehalem 2.66GHz Quad-Core CPUs
    16GB DDR3 ECC 1066MHz RAM (Apple Branded)
Two OWC 120GB SSDs (One for OS X, the other for Windows 7 x64) - These are in place of my optical drives.
4x 2TB WD Black Hard drives for storage.
Two Samsung P2350 Monitors connected via DVI. (One using a Mini Displayport to DVI adapter).

In Windows I am using the latest (12.4) Catalyst Software Suite, 64 bit of course, downloaded directly from AMD's site after installing the drivers from Boot Camp.
As for installing Windows I used an original (not burned) installation media (Disk is in a pristine condition). And yes, Windows is fine, the problem just seems to be getting the system to boot up Windows with that second monitor. However if the "problem monitor" is disconnected the system boots fine 100% of the time and connecting it later after booting the system will still operate properly.
For the sake of arguement I swapped monitor cables and connected the "second" monitor to the mini displayport adapter to verify that it wasn't a cabling issue and I'm still yielding the same issues.
As for GPU testing, I've played games (Crysis, Grand Theft Auto IV, Battlefield 3, etc.) and I've had no issues with the card or stability.
You would think that Apple would try to find a fix for this, especially considering the caliber of this machine.

  • I have a 16GB iPhone 3GS. Tried synching my phone through iTunes (11.0.1 I think... on a 2009 Macbook Pro). Now when I connect to iTunes, it says it does not recognise the content on my phone. Is this because my phone (and laptop) are too old?

I have a 16GB iPhone 3GS. Tried synching my phone through iTunes (11.0.1 I think... on a 2009 Macbook Pro). Now when I connect to iTunes, it says it does not recognise the content on my phone. Is this because my phone (and laptop) are too old?
Also, when I tried to Restore the settings, an Error Message pops up that says " The iPhone software update server could not be contacted. The requested resource was not found.
I'm trying to free up space on my phone by removing [literally] thousands of old photos which were originally synched to the phone, because I had forgotten to uncheck the photos button when I synched it ages ago.
I have also tried synching it on my 24" iMac (running OSX Snow Leopard). But again, when I try restoring the phone through itunes, it says the file is corrupted. It sggests unplugging the device, and then plugging it in again. I have done this numerous times with no success.
I'm guessing it must be because my phone (and versions of iTunes, and OSX) are all too old.
    Please can anybody help.
    Cheers,
    Dan_nz.

  • I have a mid 2009 MacBook Pro 5,3 Unibody that won't run anything past Leopard.

I have a mid 2009 MacBook Pro 5,3 Unibody that suffered a minor liquid spill.  After waiting for it to dry out, we found that it powers up (but the display doesn't work unless connected to an external monitor) just fine.  For several months it worked like a tank running Snow Leopard.  I upgraded to Lion with no problems.  Once the 10.7.1 update came out, it completely flipped out and wouldn't finish the install.  I was forced to take it all the way back to Leopard and now it won't upgrade past Leopard.  I replaced the hard drive completely and tried a fresh install of Lion using the thumb drive and that didn't work either.  I got the set of errors you will find below.  (Sorry, I don't know how to hide them like you can in some forums.)  Any ideas or suggestions on why it won't install Lion would be great.  I'm not so concerned about the display as wondering why it worked for 4 months and then another month on Lion and then suddenly flipped out on me.  I'm not knowledgeable enough to decipher the message below.

Might have a hardware issue that was caused by the minor liquid spill.
Take it to Apple to have them look at it.  I think they do a free diagnostics.  That way you can find out what's wrong with your MB.
Good luck....Hope you get it sorted out.

  • How to install Snow Leopard on a 2009 Mac Pro which has Mountain Lion?

The 2009 Mac Pro that I just bought has Mountain Lion. For many reasons, I do not want to have Mountain Lion on my machine. I have been using Snow Leopard for years and I like it fine. I have my Snow Leopard install DVDs. I cannot get this machine to accept Snow Leopard, which must be just another undesirable aspect of Mountain Lion, bacause this machine must have shipped with some variant of Leopard/ Snow Leopard to begin with. Here's what happens when I put the Snow Leopard Install DVD in the Superdrive:
    1) First, I held down the "C" key at startup to start from a disc. It showed me a window which said "Mac OS X can't be installed on this computer".
    2) Then I started it with Mountain Lion and then put in the Snow Leopard DVD. Got a window which said "The disc you inserted was not readable by this computer". It also had 3 buttons to choose from: "Initialize", "Ignore" and "Eject". So I clicked on "Initialize" and Disc Utility opened on the First Aid page. I assume I'm supposed to erase the startup disc, but I thought maybe I should ask the experts here before I do that.
This machine has two 2TB HDDs that the previous owner has configured as a level 1 RAID. If I am to erase the startup disc do I erase both drives of the RAID set? If I'm not supposed to erase the startup drive, what do I need to do to get back to Snow Leopard? Thanks and thanks again!

The built-in checks will keep you from clobbering 10.8 Mountain Lion by Installing Snow Leopard over it (literally, 10.6 Snow Leopard Installer will see a later version in place, and knows it cannot install over a later version). So it says "Mac OS X cannot be installed on this computer..." and leaves off "... "in its current state."
You will need to Install on a 10.6 Snow Leopard-erased drive. Mac OS X Erase function proceeds to install a Partition scheme and a default Volume after erasing, because a truly blank drive is useless for most Users.
When you boot to the Installer DVD, you are running off the DVD, so all Hard Drives are available to be erased if that is your choice. All data on them will be discarded. If you erase one drive in a mirrored RAID set, normally the other drive would survive and the set would be degraded. But a new version of RAID was introduced right AFTER 10.6, and it is likely that 10.6 cannot read that RAID at all under any circumstances.

  • 2009 Mac Pro 2.66 Xeon Quad Core or 2013 Mac Mini 2.66 Quad Core i7 ?

2009 Mac Pro 2.66 Xeon Quad Core or 2013 Mac Mini Server 2.66 Quad Core i7 ? I have a choice between these two for running Final Cut Pro X. Price is nearly the same.
The Mac Pro has a ePCI 512 display adapter, 16 GB RAM, more hard drive expansion and faster 1tb 7200 rpm conventional hard drive. FW 800.
The Mini Server has two 1 tb 5400 rpm conventional drives, 16 GB RAM and an integrated display adapter. Has thunderbolt and FW 800.
My primary concern is the performance of the processors. Does anyone happen to know how they compare in video editing?

This may give you some ideas.
There are some folks on this forum who report very saticfactory results editing on Minis.
Perhaps they will chime in with first hand experience (which I can't give).

  • Help Connect my Mid-2009 Macbook Pro to my new YAMAKASI CATLEAP Q270 SE 27" LED 2560X1440 WQHD DVI-D Dual Computer Monitor

    Hi,
I am trying to connect my Mid-2009 Macbook Pro to my new YAMAKASI CATLEAP Q270 SE 27" LED 2560X1440 WQHD DVI-D Dual Computer Monitor.  I am not having a lot of luck.
    My machine:
    OS: Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB
Processor:  2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
I am trying to connect it using the:
Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter
    DVD-D HDMI cable
YAMAKASI CATLEAP Q270 SE 27" LED 2560X1440 WQHD DVI-D Dual
    (http://www.ebay.com/itm/150788045871?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m149 7.l2649#ht_16597wt_877)
    Here is what is happening.
    1. I connect the Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter + HDMI Cable to Monitor
    2. Main monitor powers up like it is trying to display
    3. Laptop Monitor displays second part of desktop
    4. I can never get the Yamakasi to display a picture
Here is what I have tried:
    1. Different HDMI-D cables
    2. ATLONA AT-DP400 Dual Link DVI to Mini Display Port Converter
    3. Zapping the P-Ram
    4. Powering monitor with laptop closed
    5. Forcing the system to see the second monitor
    The nearest I can figure:
    - The laptop does see the catsleap (it displays resolutions I can set it to)
I am completely stumped, I was hoping someone could advise me.
    Thanks,
    Don

    Hey Kytarx,
I found the winning combination this weekend.
    I tried:
    - Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter
    - ATLONA AT-DP400 Dual Link DVI to Mini Display Port Converter
    - Monoprice Mini DisplayPort | Thunderbolt® to HDMI®, DVI & DisplayPort Adapter
    My experience:
    - Altona didn't work at all, and their support claimed it would not.
    - Monoprice didn't work to Dual DVI, it did work to HDMI (great price I wish it did)
    - Apple Mini Displayport adapter did work, but would only work with certain USB + Display port combos.
The thing that was tripping me up was that two of the Dual DVI-D cords were bad.  Once I found the working cord, it was easier to find the working adapter.  The experience I did find to be a frustrating / expensive one. However, the Monitor itself is beautiful.
    Hopefully this helps someone else..
    Don

  • How do I connect my mid-2009 Macbook pro to my HDMI television and get sound?

How do I connect my mid-2009 Macbook pro to my HDMI television and get sound?

Use a mini-Displayport-to-HDMI adapter and a standard HDMI cable to connect the computer to the proper HDMI port on your computer — the one that is paired with the separate RCA audio inputs (see the TV's manual for this information). And connect the headphone port on your MBP to those inputs with a cable that has a 1/8' stereo headphone plug on one end and two RCA plugs on the other. You'll also need to select the proper HDMI input in the TV's menu system, and you may have to select the headphone port as the audio output in the Sound pane of System Prefs on the Mac (or it may be selected automatically).

  • TS3048 My early 2009 Mac Pro does not connect via bluetooth to my sound bar or bluetooth mini speakers. Both my wireless keyboard and mouse have no problems connecting. What do I need to do to connect to external bluetooth devices?

My early 2009 Mac Pro does not connect via bluetooth to my sound bar or bluetooth mini speakers. Both my wireless keyboard and mouse have no problems connecting. What do I need to do to connect to external bluetooth devices?

I would always have a wired keyboard and mouse on hand (need not be expensive ... any cheap wired devices will work).  "Emergency recovery" procedures can activate features in random order, so the opportunity to select a recovery partition may pass before the wireless devices are recognized.
That will let you select the "turn on Bluetooth" icon.

  • What adapter do I need to connect my 2009 Macbook Pro to my 2007 iMac?

What adapter do I need to connect my 2009 Macbook Pro to my 2007 iMac? I get really confused with all of the different cables out there an I want to make sure I get the correct one.
    Macbook Pro Model is: Late 2009, 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3, OS X 10.9.4 (13E28)
iMac Model: Late 2007, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 667 MHZ DDR2 SDRAM, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)
    Thanks!

The 2007 iMac does not support cabled input. see > Target Display Mode: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Like Niel suggest's, your only option is to use a network based connection like > ScreenRecycler

  • 2009 Macbook Pro 13" Yosemite Display Port Freeze

    I have a
    2009 Macbook Pro 13"
    2.26 Core Duo
    8gb Ram
    Nvidia Geforce 9400M 256mb
    Yosemite 10.10.1
Dell 24" Monitor run through apple display port to DVI Adapter
Sony 32" HD TV run through aftermarket display port to HDMI cable
I've been running Yosemite since it was released without any issues.  I was calibrating my monitor using spyder3 pro.  When the calibration finished I was asked to save the ICC profile when I got an error.  The file wasn't able to save properly. I did not write down the error code and at this point i'm not able to recreate it.
I restarted the computer and connected the Dell monitor.  The colors that showed were all cartoon yellow and blue with slight outlines of windows but not legible in all areas.  More troubling is the fact that the computer itself would start the spinning beach ball as soon as the external monitor was connected.  Mouse still moves but nothing is clickable.
I did a hard reset of the computer without the monitor connected.  Everything worked fine.  I updated the Spyder3 software and calibrated the internal monitor with no issues.  I physically deleted the ICC profiles for the Dell monitor.  Still the same issue after restart.
I've experimented with the issue a bit more.  If I connect the external dell monitor through the DVI Converter I get the same issues stated above.  When I disconnect it, the computer hangs for a minute but resets the internal display.  I still have the beach ball at this point.  If I hover over open programs and right click I can force close them.  Once all programs open have been force closed and the finder has been relaunched everything works ok again but the bar at the top of the screen is all grayed out unless I restart the computer.  Not the menus just the time, background programs, battery life, sound.  search does work.
I've Attached and calibrated my HD TV through the same display port.  It seems to hang for a minute but then converts sizes.  It did show the the yellow and blue screen for a few seconds once but then corrected itself to display properly.
I've heard similar but not exactly the same symptoms related to Yosemite upgrade.
I'm having trouble eliminating variables here.
Is anyone else experiencing issues like this?
Can anyone shed some light on what is going on here?
    Cheers,
    Chris

What appears to be happening is the conputer is trying to sync with the display... over and over. Eventually it MAY succeed, more often than not a power off / on of the display and a reboot of the system resolves the issue. There are no drivers from Samsung to support OS-X. Apparently the change from Snow Leopard to Lion  caused the problem, and it persists with Mountain Lion.
