AUTOCAD FOR MAC

autocad for mac book pro

AutoCAD for MAC works great on the LAPTOP SCREEN ONLY on my Late 2011 MBP with 8GB RAM. It is locked to the Laptop Screen and will not move to the connected 30" Cinema Display.
Caveat: I would much rather use all MacPro's, but sadly Autodesk is a crap company. They buy other great companies, pick apart their great software, give it to marketing, and split it into 3 applications that don't even like eachother. (REVIT, ALIAS, MAYA, INVENTOR, and more)... Most function under Boot Camp, most are at best a hassle under parallels, although they claim in works perfectly. Essentially, until Autodesk has had a new acquisitions product for 2 to 3 generations, it is going cause hair-pulling. When they finally convert it to their "somewhat" unified interface, it will always fail on Service Pack 1, and finally work again on Service Pack 2 - This is a big deal, as they are trying to create a universal "Materials and Products" database, and often, installing a new Autodesk product, or applying a service pack breaks the entire database for all applications, causing a huge headache. They are losing so much market to the competition, they are buying up the little guys, and rapidly releasing no-new-features, break-your-current-installs annual updates. The ONLY bonus - so many engineers are fed up with needing 10 products to conquer 1 problem, that Autodesk is being forced to reduce their prices by about 70% to stay in the running, and more price cuts are on the horizon.

  • Sudden WHIP error on Autocad for mac

    Hello,
I have a Mac Book Pro Version OX 10.9.4 with an 2.9 GHz Intel Core 7 and an Intel HD Graphics 4000. I am on warranty still.
I was using Autocad 13 perfectly until suddenly it collapsed and I started getting this WHIP error message. I did some research and it says it is because the compatibility of the "Graphical Card". But I havent changed the graphical card so I am not sure why is happening suddently.
I restarted my computer already and uninstalled the program and re installed like it recommends in some websites it but no luck. I am desperate.
Another thing happening weirdly lately with my mac is that sometimes the cursor of my mouse gets this lines around it... like horizontal lines that cross the arrow and follow it everywhere.
It may not be the same thing but also searching in the forums seems again a "Graphical Card issue"
And on top of that when I move the computer sometimes... i hear a weird click noise from the inside.
Can all of this be related?
    Thanks so much
    regards,

They could be connected. If you live near an Apple Store, make a Genius Bar appointment to have the computer tested. Supposedly there is no charge for testing. Use 2nd link if not near an Apple Store or aren’t in the US. Better to have it checked while your are still under warranty.

  • Acrobat Pro and AutoCad 2013 for Mac

    Hi there:
I just bought Adobe Acrobat Pro in order to make PDF files from AutoCad 2013 for Mac, but when I try to print, the option for Adobe PDF is not prompting and I don't how to set it.
I'm just using a trial version of AutoCad. I couldn't try with a trial version of Adobe Acrobat Pro, because the trial version for Mac is not available.
Could it be that Adobe Acrobat Pro is not compatible with AutoCad 2013???
    Thanks,

Indeed it is not. Acrobat X 10.1 supports ACAD 2011 (32-bit), as indicated on the product matrix:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/compatible-web-browsers-pdfmaker-applications.html
Each version of Acrobat includes PDFMaker plugins for the versions of these applications which are on general release at the time the Acrobat version is developed, so you'll have to wait a while. Adobe doesn't develop plugins based on beta versions, so with ACAD 2011 releasing in March 2010, it made it into the X build (released Nov 2010) but ACAD 2012 did not. ACAD 2013 was only released to market this March so there certainly won't be any PDFMaker support right now - beyond that I can't comment, sorry.

  • I downloaded AutoCAD 2013 for mac and then the macbook started to glitch! WHY????

    Hello,
I downloaded AutoCAD 2013 for mac and after 20 minutes work in the Autocad my macbook pro with Retina display 13 inch (OSX 10.9.1)  started to glitch.
Then I deleted  this program from mac, but it is still glitching. When I am moving windows, the picture on display is just breaking and after few seconds it is ok. Moreover, the Multi-Touch Trackpad's three, four finger function is also glitching.
Did it happen because something wrong with my graphic drivers which could be replaced by the AutoCAD
    Please help me with this!!!

Reinstall AutoCAD and relaunch teh program. AutoCAD leaves the GPU in a bad power state in Mavericks, which causes problems.

  • HT201272 Where do I get the serial number and product key for the version of AutoCAD LT for Mac that I bought from the ITunes store?

Where do I get the serial number and product key for the version of AutoCAD LT for Mac that I bought from the ITunes store?

The iTunes Store doesn't sell software for the Mac. I presume you mean the Mac App Store. To the best of my knowledge, no software sold in the Mac App Store has serial numbers nor product keys. For what reason do you think you need them?

  • Mac OSX Lion & Autocad 2012 for Mac

I recently purchase Autocad 2012 for Mac and installed it on a Macbook Pro running OSX Lion.  I have a problem and I'm trying to determine if it is Lion-related or Autocad 2012 for Mac-related.  Within Autocad there is a basic function whereby you can typically use the print functiona and "save as PDF" to save a drawing in a PDF file format.  Once saved in this fashion, the file can then be emailed to a commercial printer (like a Kinko's) that has the correct size printer for printing architectural plans.  Unfortunately, when I try and "save as PDF" the function is not working?  I recognize this is a really specific question that might be as much Autocad related as Mac related, but if anyone has any ideas please let me know.  I'm under the gun on timing to get plans completed!  Many thanks!!!

Make sure your copy of Adobe Acrobat is for Lion if it is installed on your Mac.  It can affect whether or not some PDF functions work.  Your other option, might be to use Save as PDF from the File menu -> Print command.  Though I think the quality of the PDF is not as good that way, at least you can try it and see what comes out.

  • Professional CAD-Software for Mac

I intend to buy an IMac G5 soon, but I´m worried that there will be no serious CAD-Software available for Mac - such as Autocad, Rhinoceros or 3D-Studio...i really nead that programms cause i´m working as an architect.
Can someone tell me whether there is a possibillity to run all my Windows Software on Mac platform, cause i heard that emulation software makes Windows Progs so slow?
    Thanks

  • Cad programs for mac

    Hi everyone,
I have just became a mac user, but i'm an architecture stutent which in the past using pc's needed to work with Autocad(only for windows) almost all days..since i don't want to install boot acmp and un the autocad,i was looking for some help to find the better pogram of that type for Mac...TurboCad?Archicad?Vectorworks?
Can anyone give me a hep here?
    thanks

If you search the archinect forums for "mac software" you will find 44 topics with hundreds of responses to similar questions, some of which link back to topics here in Apple's Discussions. If you register with archinect, you can ask your own questions.
In the meantime, post your questions about CAD software for OS X in the Using Tiger forum (or in the forum dealing with Usage for your hardware, whatever that may be) where you may find more focused attention to your issue. This forum, as its title suggests, isn't intended for technical questions, but for feedback on Apple Discussions itself.
    Good luck.

  • AutoCad on Mac

OK, so I installed CrossOver (Mac application for running windows apps without installing windows) for mac on my MBP. I then attempted to install Autocad 2005 but got an error. Here is a screen shot of the steps I took:
#1: Double-clicked the install.exe file from the AutoCad CD which gave me the following screen:
#2: Did not find AutoCad on the list so I clicked "Install unsupported software", which gave me this:
#3: After reading through and following all the instructions on the page, I was left with no choice but to click "continue", which led to this:
#4: Clicked "install" from step 2 on the AutoCad2005 screen. This is the message I got:
I then downloaded and attempted to install the Internet Explorer 7 but got this:
I do not know what else to do.
I need to install AutoCad on my MBP.
The CrossOver website claims to support AutoCad 2005 but does not give advice on how to do this.
If anyone has been successful with installing Windows apps using CrossOver, please give me some advice as to how to do it (note: I absolutely refuse to install MS Windows.)
    Macbook Pro ver2   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I'm sorry to say, what you are trying to do is incorrect.I also use 2005-and more in my Mac, but a Windows OS is essential; for many reasons. The software manufacturer has built the whole engine under such prerequisites and these are needed for it to perform and give results.I'm not a windows "fan" (!!!) but that's how things stand. Also, I should say one must be very cautious when ignoring specifications - especially regarding damaging your Mac, or having a malfunctioning software.Last, Crossover does NOT say AutoCAD operates.Quite the opposite:http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/rank/?order=avg;sort=DESC;cw=e9d e63ddd8740e51812db0ab85fa85e3;curPos=400
In any case, since you (and you only) are responsible for your choices: a) In the same linked page it is mentioned .NET 1.1 is NOT supported. In earlier pages though Internet Explorer editions 5.0, 5.05 and 6.0 are reported to work. Therefore you could surpass the aforementioned messages regarding .NET prerequisite if necessary and see what comes up.b) I don't remember the formation of the installation procedure, but if a custom installation is available you could choose skiping .NET-evenmore try to make a Metric only installation rather than Imperial thus creating a "lighter" application (closer to LT) and see if this works.
Even if installed I'd be very curious if/how it'd perform. Not at all optimistic and certainly not at all encouraging you on this.

  • BootCamp and AutoCad for students

As a parent who just jumped in and bought a MacBook Pro for his daughter in college, I now realize she will need AutoCad for her interior design classes, so big ooops for me. I am trying to determine if installing BootCamp will be able to run that program effectively, or do I bite the bullet and get her the PC instead. It's the only Windows app she will need, albeit a big one ! Has Bootcamp evolved since its inception. I don't really want to do the Parallels Desktop either.

    Hello,
Yes absolutely,Leopard will be pre-installed or it will include the disc.First find out from your daughter which AutoCad version will be used.
Only AutoCad 2008 is supported under Vista,so any earlier editions require XP to run, which incidentally has angered a great many persons including myself who use AutoCad for work.
So anyway even if you bought a new PC you would still have to get one that still offers XP or hunt for XP drivers and such to run XP and AutoCad.In this respect it is easier to use Bootcamp to install XP as it includes the drivers required for your Intel based MacBook Pro.
So first find out which AutoCad and if the Pro comes with Leopard pre-installed,it should actually as I can't imagine that brand new issues don't have it already.
I can run you through step by step getting the install done,it really is easy to do.Also regarding the Windows partition,if your daughter is computer savy and wants to read/write Windows files from the Mac side than use the default 32GB partition size as this is the largest that can be formatted as FAT 32 required for the read/write facility.NTFS partitions can only be read on the Mac side and if you don't need to 'write' to Windows files I would recommend NTFS as it's more secure, faster and you can choose a larger Windows Partition.I would recommend 40GB to make sure there's room for AutoCad files ect.

  • Opening animated gif in PSE 8 for Mac

I am switching from PSE for PC to PSE 8 for Mac.
I have always been able to open animated gif as layers and work with them, then resave as an updated animated gif.
WIth PSE 8 for Mac, I get a pop up that the file is animated and can only see the top frame. Any ideas on how to open up all of the frames in layers?

Do I need to enable this process for my Mac? Maybe I'm missing a plug-in or update?
I have been opening these files from others, tweeking and resaving for almost 2 years in PSE. It definitely will not shuffle the individual panels on an animated gif into the layers box.
My tweeking usually involves adjusting frame speed. Is that what you mean by 'frame rate'?
    Thank you for your help.

  • How do i add multiple lines in a cell (like a list) in Excel for MAC?

I'm trying to add multiple lines (in the form of a list) in a individual cell in Excel for MAC.  I used ALT Enter on my PC but that doesn't work on the iMac.  Does anyone know how to do this?
    Thanks!

It's been a while but I think you hold SHIFT while typing a page break (RETURN) to make a new line without shifting to another cell.
However, as Excel isn't an Apple product, I am sure you will get a faster and more current answer by using Microsoft's Office:Mac forums here:

    They are very good.

  • SAV for Mac 9.2.7 released!

    Hey everyone,
We released SAV for Mac 9.2.7 to all home users late last week.
    This release at a glance:
    Compatible with OSX 10.6 - 10.10
    Stability and performance improvements
Updated threat engine and threat data (release notes for threat detection engine)
Provides an updated version of OpenSSL
    Fixed SophosUIServer.app crashes
Fixed streaming issues from francetv.fr website
    How to get the update?
If you're already running SAV, you should have automatically recieved the update courtesy of Sophos AutoUpdate
You can also manually trigger an update by clicking the Sophos sheild tray icon and clicking Update Now
Download a copy from our website
What about OSX 10.11 "El Capitian"?
In the last few weeks I've seen some folks asking about 10.11, which is currently available as a pre-release. At the moment, SAV 9.2.7 *should* work if SAV is already installed before you upgrade, but the install will fail if you attempt to install a fresh copy post-upgrade. That said, we'll be releasing another update for SAV prior to the official release of 10.11 "El Capitain"  which will ensure full compatibility, so at the moment we recommend upgrading with caution.
    Questions? Feedback on SAV 9.2.7?
Post it here and we'll get back to you ASAP!

    That should help you out.
