AutoCAD on MacBook

The only reason I own a PC is that I use AutoCAD. I've been planning to buy a MacBook Pro when Apple makes a 12" size. Will AutoCAD run on a MacBook? The smallest MacBook would be acceptable.

I put intel and select all card, and nothing comes up as compatible as opposed to nvidia (used in macbookpro).

I downloaded AutoCAD 2013 for mac and after 20 minutes work in the Autocad my macbook pro with Retina display 13 inch (OSX 10.9.1) started to glitch.
Then I deleted this program from mac, but it is still glitching. When I am moving windows, the picture on display is just breaking and after few seconds it is ok. Moreover, the Multi-Touch Trackpad's three, four finger function is also glitching.
Did it happen because something wrong with my graphic drivers which could be replaced by the AutoCAD
Please help me with this!!!

Reinstall AutoCAD and relaunch teh program. AutoCAD leaves the GPU in a bad power state in Mavericks, which causes problems.

Is the current 13" MacBook Air powerful enough to run 2D autocad in bootcamp smoothly? If so, how will it handle 3d rendering software such as Rhino.

My girlfriend has recently purchased the new 13" Macbook Air (3rd gen Intel processor). It is the base model (ie. 1.8GHz i5 processor, 4GB RAM, etc).
I have checked on the autodesk website for their Windows 64-bit autocad system requirements and they all seem to be met, even to the recommended levels. However we havent actually tried running it because we havent gotten a copy of Windows on the machine yet. Also, she has a rendering software called Rhino, which ran fairly smoothly on my pc (its about 2 years old but was top of the line then), but I feel we are not up to par on the system requirement "OpenGL graphic card recommended".
If anyone could offer some guidance as to weather we should keep the MacBook Air it would be appreciated. I think the alternative would be to buy a Windows laptop because of cost, which wouldn't be nearly as exciting.

It's not a hard core gaming rig, but it plays all the FPS games I like, quite well. It handles hi-def video, just fine. I use it for Photoshop, and it is quite fast. For web browsing, it has no equal. The 2010 maxed out 11" would do it all, except for some hi-def video (1080P), which it would stutter. But my new 2011 maxed 13", is perfect for video (1080P=no problem).
I really don't think a MBP will give you as much, on a daily basis. It (the MBP) has only a few advantages, and except for the built in optical drive (which you can still go external, if need be), none of the advantages you will miss even slightly.
I think the MBP would only serve me, if it spent most of the time deskbound, but I would still need an SSD. Once you have had an SSD, you can't go back. Then, you would have a really pricey MBP.

Autocad on the MacBook Pro retina display

If I download windows on the MacBook Pro with retina display does autocad have the same features as if it was the real windows?

If you install Windows by using Boot Camp Assistant to partition the drive IT IS REAL WINDOWS and works the same as any other Windows install.

AutoCAD on a MacBook Pro

Anyone using AutoCAD on a MacBook Pro? I will be loading AutoCAD soon and wonder if there are any issues to avoid.

I am currently running Vista through Bootcamp on my SR Macbook Pro with AutoCAD 2006 installed along with Inventor 2008; both work flawlessly. I ran both through parallels and Fusion for a while, but neither ended up being very responsive. Also ran them on XP installed in bootcamp for a while and they again both ran great.
Running in Bootcamp AutoCAD is more responsive on my laptop than on the computers we have to use here at school

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Read the system requirements for the programs you listed. Match them against the specifications of the machine you propose to buy. The more RAM the better, your hard drive size requirements and video card specicications may require the upgraded, not base, model or may eliminate the MBA as a platform.

MacBook Pro and Autocad

My daughter is an architecture student at UF, we bought her a MacBook Pro with Bootcamp and Windows. We have had no problems until she tried to download and install AutoDesk onto the Windows Side. THis is what she sent me,"AutoCAD Architecture (all three versions on the educational site)
"Error creating process

this is in the process of trying to download any of the versions in the
first installing the Autodesk Student Community Tool; .NET Framework.
When she calls Autodesk they won't support her can anyone shed any light on this? i would greatly appreciate it.

Well, she should call back again and speak to someone else. They probably say they can't help because she's on a Mac. But you must tell them that Macs are PCs just like anything else you can buy out there...they just happen to run Mac OS as well as Windows, and if she's purchased their software she's entitled to support from them.
You can also search Google for "Reason: C:\WINDOWS\system32\advpack.dll"
You'll find many threads on it with possible solutions, but based on what I've seen you may not have the .Net 2.0 Framework installed. Regardless though, this is not really a Mac issue

It will run Autocad very slowly and may crash your Mac.
In any case 2GB of RAM is far too little.

Je ne crois pas que vous pouvez mettre à jour la carte graphique dans un Macbook. En tout cas, pour exécuter Auto Cad vous avez besoin d'un ordinateur plus rapide.
Il ya une application appelée TurboCAD. Les versions précédentes ne fonctionnent sur les anciens Mac. J'ai utilisé la version 3 sur un système d'exploitation Mac sous 10.6.

We regularly use Cocktail by Maintain software. You run the whole gamut of options but the important one is in System - Databases - Rebuild launch services. Also in Files - Caches - then clear the lot.
This is just houskeeping really but there are so many 'links' in A/cad it needs 'cleaning'

Since I have a three year old Sony laptop, I hardly think that it will be able to run such a program.
Do you have a good suggestion for the laptop that will be suitable to run such a program? Thinking maybe just the computer must have a pretty good graphics card. I have been looking at a MacBook Pro, but there are other alternative than that?

Is MacBook 2.2 capable of running AutoCad

Long time Mac owner that knows virtually nothing about how these things work. Need to purchase a new machine and will be running autoCad for interior design work. Also quite cheap. Can I pick a refurb. MacBook, upgrade some memory and run Autocad. Have a friend that seems to do this quite well-but everyone at Apple tells me that its just an impossibility. Any suggestions?

I'm running a ArchiCAD on my mac and it works fine, it is similar to AutoCAD in some way. Do you want to install to windows on Mac, or are you trying to run it in OSX? I don't think there is AutoCAD for mac platform.
Just make sure you have 2GB+ RAM.

No reason why it wouldn't. Of course overall performance would depend on the exact specs of the Macbook.

AUTOCAD MACBOOK PRO 13in HELP!

I bought a new macbook pro 13in this August and i am wondering if Autocad 2011 will work. I only need to use it for one semester and i just one to know if anything bad will occur to my laptop if i try to use this program. I also want to know if it will be usable even if it is kind of slow, and if i can use it with OS LION?
