Autoconfig Issues with Other Oracle Homes

Hi All,
My Scnario:
1). Oracle Apps 11.5.10.2 on Node1.
2). Oracle 10.2.5.0 DB on node2 + Oracle Tg4msql 11g. (working fine).
Due to some patch requirement we applied a HR rollup patch about 550M, we run Autoconfig on DBNode/APPS nodes, Patch applied successfully, functionality improved.
Issue:
Might be due to Autoconfig, Tg4msql entry in DB (tnsnames.ora) got removed, and Tg4msql listener also starting using DB listener.ora file. and we are getting following error.
Unable to retrieve text of NETWORK/NCR message 65535
ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines from DBLINKTEST Checked and added dg4msql entry in DB (tnsnames.ora), set Tg4msql enviroment, started listener, listener still goes to DB(listener.ora), then set TNS_ADMIN and stop/start Tg4msql listener, listener started with correct file, even then we are getting the same error.
All this scnario is on a TEST server, but due to some very urgent task, i have to restore pre-patch backup on test server, and everthing working fine.
Please suggest, as i have to apply HR rollup in PROD very soon.
Thanks,
RAJ

Hi All,
Thanks for suggestions, we are applying *11i.HR_PF.K RUP3 patch 6699770*, but i don't think this is Patch issue, this looks like Autoconfig Issue.
Helios, Your NoteID is more relevant (i will check it when test again), but can you please suggest more on Autoconfig, whether it recreates all files to defaults, based on this Autoconfig behaviour, i think, we can add dg4msql entries in tnsnames.ora ifile, but what can i do for dg4msql listener entries, because, after patch implementation, listener (TG)was reading DB listener.ora file?
Thanks,
RAJ

  • Shared cluster with multiple oracle homes

    Hi All,
    I got to build a shared oracle RAC cluster with multiple oracle home installation ( 10g R1 , 10g R2 , and 11g R1 & 2).
Of course the cluster ware will be version 11.2, but I wondered if there is any dependency on how I install oracle software? Do I have to start with 10g installation first? can I do 11g and then 10g?
Is there anything I should be aware of ?

I installed Oracle Application Server Enterprise which includes AS, Database, OID, Web Cache, SSO etc. and OSES on the same machine. Everything works except I think the windows version of OSES and AS need some patches so the crawler isn't working right. Everything does, however, install and run. I think Oracle develops everything in Linux (rumors of them now using Solaris) so on Linux everything should go smoother.

  • Oracle reading binary files from other oracle home.

    Hi all,
I have two oracle db installed on the same server but on different oracle home.
It seems to me that the second oracle is reading the binaries from the other installation.
I can start this database and the sap instance and it starts on the correct oracle home but I see that it is reading files on the first oracle home.
for example, it saves the spfile under the first oracle_home\database directory. I started it using pfile=<the_correct_ora-home>\database\initSID.ora and set on this  init.ora file the correct path for  spfile.
But even after this if i change any parameter, it stills change the spfile on the wrong <oracle_home>\database.
Is there a way to fix this ? I mean to make the second oracle to see files under its own oracle home ?
It is oracle 11g under windows 2008.
Remember that all the environment variables is pointing to the correct oracle home and I can start SAP and Oracle as well on this oracle_home.
    Thanks in advance,
    Joao.

    Hi Orkun,
No, we don't have anything else installed yet.
Please see what I found out:
Checking those binary errors I found out that the oracle service
OracleServiceDPC (the second instance on this server) is being started from the wrong oracle_home path. Please
see the path to the executables on that service properties:
    g:\oracle\dnc\11202\bin\ORACLE.EXE DPC
It is pointing to the other oracle home DNC but starting instance DPC. How can I change that ?
Please see that the oracle home, the listener, etc is correct pointing
    to oracle home G:\oracle\DPC\11202.
I would like to disable this service and create the correct one.
    Is that possible ?
    thanks and regards,
    Joao

  • However, we've had issues with other legacy systems and programs for outlook

I have a user who when she logs into her workstation and tries to access her outlook folders she is denied access. If she removes and then adds them back they work. Only one other person on our network had this problem which I initially thought was connectivity
related. I replaced their cat five cable and that seemed to solve their problem. I tried this with this user and it cleared up for about a week but happened again today. Any thoughts or experience with this. Outlook doesnt support archives in a network share
so I cant turn to them. It uses a login batch script to load mapped drives according to department. This all predates me so I did not build them. However, we've had issues with other legacy systems and programs so it is highly possible that this could be an
    issue.

    Will:Hi! Hi!
I use Firefox and it is now No. 1 on my choice of browsers. I agree it doesn't like the "for IE only" coded sites but then IE is now a non issue as it is dead in the water! So Safari is now really bloated and getting slower by the version. Firefox is quick, good to look at with numerous skins, and what is more has become the browser of choice for web developers on both platforms because it sticks to the WWC3 code. Camino is just another flavour of Netscape which seems to be a bloat AOL IE wannabee product. Do yourself a favour and download Firefox. Give it a few spins around the block and I'm sure you will agree. As for the sites it declines to accept because of bad code, then I would suggest a strong letter of protest to the webmaster! For too long IE has been flouting the rules and trying to be the only game in town. Take some affirmative action and let the webmasters know there are other browsers available to users. • Anyone else having issues with white iphone4 home button?

so i have come across this stuff here and there but i am pointing more towards people from India..
You all know how Pathetic apple is at India because of not having major share holding...
My White iPhone 4 purchased in july on the same date as launch in India has issues with the home button.. It sometimes becomes unresponsive.. Stays like that for 5-15 seconds as it varies and then starts working..
I don't understand if it is hardware or software issue.. Sometimes for weeks it doesn't happen and then it could happen way too much... i went to the iStore guys and they told me to restore it as its a software issue..
I wanted to know if any of you faced that and what did you do? did you get a replacement? since it happens occasionally i cant show the store guys that it is happening so they won't replace.

    My experience with home button:
Mine did not work sometimes also; but I found this was due to "how" i was pressing the button. There must have been some dust under it because if you pressed it in a certain place; the button would press in but this would not register until you pressed really quite hard.
Pressing in any other place and the click seemed to register.
Try it and see if it is the same for you? Can you press your button in a place and it doesnt register (mine was at the top of the white square on the button)...
I had mine replaced under warranty from my Apple Store.

  • Issue with multiple Oracle Long Fields

    Hello,
We have some reports that try to display two Oracle Long data type fields. When we do so we receive the error "ORA-1002 - fetch out of sequence" when we connect the report through "Oracle Server" connection type.
If I execute SQL Statement of the report in "Oracle SQL Developer" there is no error.
I have the following components installed on my Windows 7 PC:
          - Crystal Report 2008 (12.3.0.601)
          - Oracle Client 11.1.7.0
If you want to replicate the issue you can create the following tables:
    create table TEST1_T
      fld1 VARCHAR2(4),
      text   LONG
    create table TEST2_T
      fld1 VARCHAR2(4),
      fld2 VARCHAR2(4),
      text   LONG
In the TEST1_T table insert data and populate the text field. In the TEST2_T, populate the fld1 to be able to link the 2 tables together you can let the text field blank.
In the report insert TEST1_T.fld1, TEST2_T.text and TEST1_T.text if you hit preview you should get the error Ora-1002.
If you need more information let me know.
    Thank you.
    Charles
P.S: If we connect thru "CR Oracle ODBC Driver 5.3" and the first long field in the SQL statement is null boths fields are blanked in the report but if both fields are populated the report execute correctly.

    Hi,
This is a known issue with CR that uses Oracle Long Fields.
See below for direct copy of information from KBase 1205489, hope it helps.
    Symptom
In Crystal Reports, problems may arise when using more than one Oracle LONG data type field.
Some of the symptoms you might see:
Mixed data between two LONG data columns when displayed within the same report.
Incorrect data displayed in the column which is based on a LONG field.
    Resolution
Change LONG fields to CLOB fields in the Oracle table.
Oracle recommends migrating any LONG data to the CLOB type starting in Oracle 9i.
To make this change, use the TO_LOB method.

if firefox is open and at the same time there is an (automatic or manual) update of my anti-virus SW (I use VIPRE) the update is done but afterwards my PC is blocked. Looking to the running processes I see that "System Idle Process" takes 98%. I can't do anything else with my PC, it reacting VERY slowly. To stop it I have to END firefox using "ctl-alt-del". It makes me nervous.

Question - DRDA_REMOTE_DB_NAME - is the the O/S user? or the database instance name? For example, when accessing the DB2 instance, I login to the O/S as db2user but issue 'db2 connect to db2' when connecting to the instance - which value is DRDA_REMOTE_DB_NAME looking for?
Any help is appreciated - thanks

    Hi,
You are right, DRDA_REMOTE_DB_NAME should have the name of the Db2 instance.
The error you are getting points to the fact that you are an multibyte character set in either Oracle and/or DB2. The gateway can connect, but first have to be able to map the character sets indicated by the error message:
    TG4DRDA v10.2.0.1.0 grc=0, drc=-332 (865B,0001), errp=GDJREACS errmc=1208,819 <<== 1208 and 819 are the CCSIDs
Add the following entries to the gateway codepage.map file -
    S 367 > US7ASCII
    D 13488 > AL16UTF16
    D 1200 = AL16UTF16
    M 1208 = UTF8
    MBC 1208 = 1208 1200
The default location of the file is $ORACLE_HOME/tg4drda/admin/codepage.map
These values map code page 1208 to Oracle's UTF8 character sets so that the gateway can translate UTF8 data into code page 819 (WE8ISO8859P1).

  • Problems with the Oracle Home Page (maybe Norton Internet Security)

    Hello Everybody!
Like others messages, I've got problems to see the Oracle 10g Home Page. I can log to the database in SQL Plus perfectly, but not in Home Page. I tried by the following ways:
    http://127.0.0.1:8080
    http://127.0.0.1:1521
    http://{my_ip_adress}:8080
    http://localhost:8080
and I can't display anything. I've got WinXP Professional Edition and Norton Internet Security. I tried to connect changing the options of Norton's Firewall, but the Home Page doesn't work. Somebody has any idea what´s my problem?? If so, tell me please. I've worked many nights in the solution, but the problem still be there.
    Thanks for reading, and replay...
    Mario.

    To diagnose a installation issue:-
    Please provide the following
    1) The output (from the DOS command line) of lsnrctl status
    2) The output (from the DOS command line) of netstat -a
    3) The output (from the SQL Command line) of
    connect / as sysdba;
    select select dbms_xdb.gethttpport() from dual;
Please note that the output of netstat -a can provide information that could be used to compromise your system. If the system is on the network, please upload the output to the upload site.
If this checks out correctly (8080 is the port), then it is a browser issue. These can be legion. Check that you are not going to a proxy server for 127.0.0.1 or host. Check that you are not disabling access to 127.0.0.1 or host in your browser. Check that cookies are enabled. If possible, try a different browser (copy and paste the URL from one to another) Check that the host name you are providing actually resolves to your local machine (ping host)
