Autodiscover and Outlook 2010 Client Issue

Hello
We are running an Exchange 2010 SP1 and our Outlook 2010 clients are not able to connect to users' mailboxes. When we open Outlook 2010 client, we keep on getting a pop-up requesting to enter credentials. The same credentials work on OWA but don't seem to
get accepted by Outlook 2010 client.
Any ideas?

Hi ,
1.What happens when you insert the credentials ? will it get accepted ?
2.What is the results for the test email configuration.Does it get succeed .On this step we need to concentrate on the two options (i.e results and tabs) .
3. Get-ClientAccessServer -Identity "cas server name" | fl *uri*
Please share me the output for the above mentioned command .
4.The name used on the internal autodiscover uri needs to be available on the SAN certificate.
5.Please disable the internet explorer proxy exceptions and restart the outlook client and check the results .
6.Does the affected outlook users are connecting to exchange from LAN network or else from the internet ?If it is from internet please check the authentication set for the outlook anywhere is on NTLM to avoid the password prompts .
7.Does the outlook client connections are going through LB or else directly to exchange 2010 cas servers ?
Thanks & Regards S.Nithyanandham

  • Issue with Email generation using MAPI32.OCX and Outlook 2010

Our application use MAP32 OCX to generate an email with an attachment (PDF File), but no email address. The user will select the address from their contacts.
Right now we have an issue with some Outlook 2010 clients that after about 8 emails , Outlook has an issue and hangs.
Now if we do a mailto://[email protected] before we create the 8th email, Outlook 2010 doesn't hang.  Is there any setting we can set in Outlook 2010 to prevent the "address checking" when the email is generated or do I have to fill
the email address with a "bogus" address that the user must then overwrite to prevent this from happening?
    Thanks,

    Hello Chad,
Why do you need to use MAPI instead of OOM?
I'd suggest automating Outlook instead. See
How to automate Outlook from another program and

  • No Free/Busy Information for Exchange 2010 users in Outlook 2010 client, 2010 OWA shows this information fine

I have looked for hours and hours on Google and this web site for this type of issue and nothing seems to help.
    Problem:
On my new Windows 2008 R2 /Exchange 2010 server with IIS7 installed, I can use Outlook 2010 client to login and send and receive e-mail but when I try to busy search internal Exchange users I get no information (cross-hatch), but the sender of the Meeting Request
can see their own free/busy information fine.  And OWA users can see free/busy information fine, as can Outlook 2003 client users against this Exchange 2010 server when logged in.
I don't know if I have a certificate problem with regard to IIS7 or Exchange 2010, I did not create my own certificate , it is just what was installed by default when I installed and configured Win2K8 server, IIS7 and Exchange.
On the Windows 7 workstations with Outlook 2010 client, I am not logging into the Exchange 2010 server DNS domain, if that makes any difference.  On these workstations I can ping "autodiscover.my.exchange.server.com" and my.exchange.server.com
with no problem.  I even used this Microsoft KB to install a new _autodiscover dns entry, but it did not help :
When I turn on logging on my Outlook 2010 client, I see this in my C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp\1\outlook logging\20131208-135658864-fb.log :

    Hi,
How many users encounter this issue, all users with Outlook 2010 or some specific users?
According to your post, the Error code 600 indicates that your Autodiscover service is working well. as for the certificate mismatch issue, we can also following the KB below to resolve it:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940726/en-us
The Free/Busy information in Exchange 2010 is using the Availability service to
    retrieve it. Please directly access
https://mail.mydomain.ae/EWS/Exchange.asmx in IE and see whether a proper XML file is returned.
     Or we can go to
https://testexchangeconnectivity.com and check MS Exchange Web Services Connectivity Tests.

  • Outlook 2010 Client Makes RPC connection to WRONG CAS

I have Outlook 2010 clients in Shanghai. Their mailbox server and CAS server is in Hong Kong.   I also have my main Mailbox servers and CAS server in Seattle.
When the Outlook clients resolve the names in setting up the Outlook profile, they go to dwtexcas02.dwt.com which is a Seattle CAS server.
I need them to resolve to the CAS server in Hong Kong which is local to their mailbox server in Hong Kong.
CAS and mailbox server in Hong Kong is named SHAEX02.  Database, sha-db01,  with Shanghai mailboxes is also on that mailbox server.  Will this PS command resolve this issue?
    Set-mailboxdatabase sha-db01 rpclientaccessserver shaex02
    Get-mailboxdatabase sha-db01|fl rpcclientaccessserver
RpcClientAccessServer : DWTEXCAS02.DWT.com (this server is in Seattle and I need the Outlook clients inin Shanghi to connect to shaex02.
If I run the command above, does it drop the Outlook client connections or require an Outlook restart?
Dave Zuver Davis Wright Tremaine Seattle, WA

    Hi,
    Please tyr the command below:
    Set-MailboxDatabase sha-db01 -RpcClientAccessServer shaex02
    And to confirm:
    Get-MailboxDatabase sha-db01 | select RpcClientAccessServer
Once the Outlook is restarted, the client establishes its connections to the new RPC endpoint.

  • Outlook 2010 Client - "unable to connect to retrieve additional data" for some Distribution lists

We have a mix of Outlook 2003, 2007 and 2010 clients in our organization.
Users with an outlook 2010 client are having issues with a number (not all) of our distribution lists.
Issues: When selecting a distribution list in the new message 'to' fiedl, a 'message tip' appears with the name of the DL and 'contains xx recipients'.
However, when attempting to expand the DL (selecting the + sign) the following prompt appears "Cannot perfrom the requested operation. The command selected is not valid for this recipient. The operation failed"
When selecting the DL through the outlook address book the memberlist is empty and has a mail tip "unable to connect to retrieve additional data".
The DL's were all created in a 2003 environment.
We are currently setting up a 2010 environment, and all DL's were created prior to any schema updates etc.
Of note, users experience the issue, but access the list through OWA don't have the issue.

Please also perform the following steps to troubleshoot the issue.
    1. Temporarily turn off firewall and antivirus program on the problematic machine for a test.
    2. Remove the Outlook profile completely and create a new profile.
    3. Login on the same mailbox by Outlook 2010 on another machine to check the result.
If the issue persists, please open Event Viewer and check whether any error message exists. If so, please post it here for research.
    Thanks.

  • Outlook 2010 Client profile setup question

We have two exchange servers running in two different datacenters. (Server A and Server B)
During the creation of the Outlook 2010 Client profile, we can enter our email address, e.g. [email protected], click on "Check Name" and the "Server" field will auto-populate with Server B's name.
How is this result returned to Outlook from the Exchange server?
We'd like to enter Server A's hostname into this instead. How to achieve this?
    Thanks.

How have you got your AutoDiscover configured for the individual databases?  The client gets its client access server from the directory (not from the Exchange servers), and if you have no client access array (see http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/896.exchange-2010-client-access-array-and-load-balancing-resources.aspx
for more information), and you have the default AutoDiscover configuration (see http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj591328(v=exchg.141).aspx for details), Outlook
will use the first server that was configured to host the database that owns the mailbox.  I recommend you configure a client access array, and modify your AutoDiscover settings so your clients will get the best server for their respective mailboxes.

  • I use a Win7 PC with iCloud and Outlook 2010 for syncing my calendar and contacts. I can enter data in my Outlook Calendar and it will appear in iCloud, but data entered in iCloud does not sync back to Outlook.  ICloud syncs to my iphone fine both ways.

I use Win 7 PC with iCloud and Outlook 2010 for syncing my Contacts and Calendar.  They have stopped syncing...mostly.
Now, appointments I enter on my local Outlook (iCloud) Calendar goes up to iCloud fine.  But, data I enter on iCloud directly does not come down to my local Outlook iCloud Calendar.  If I reboot the computer, the iCloud data shows up.
Also, Contacts I try to enter on my Outlook (iCloud) Contacts goes up to iCloud fine, but does not show up in my local iCloud Contacts.
All syncing works with my iPhone.
I have signed out of iCloud on PC.  I have stopped syncing and re-started.  No change.
I have an .aplzod folder for iCloud.  I have a separate Earthlink.net.pst email account in Outlook and a me.com.pst Outlook email account (which I don't actually use) listed under Data Files.
Any help would be appreciated.  Curious that Outlook will upload to iCloud but not receive downloads unless I reboot.  However, rebooting does not download the missing Contacts.
    Jim Robbins

    Hi Jim!
You've started off with some good troubleshooting steps, so let's see if we can take this a little further and figure out what the issue is with your iCloud contacts and calendars. I have two articles here that will help you troubleshoot this issue a little further, but the troubleshooting steps for both articles are exactly the same, so I will lay those out for you here:
Note: When using iCloud Control Panel 2.0 and later, iCloud Calendar event descriptions in Outlook 2010 do not support text formatting (bold, italics, or underline), HTML, images, or attachments. The contextual (right-click) menu has also been disabled.
If you are having trouble with a PC (with Outlook 2007 or 2010) and iCloud Calendar, try each of these steps, testing after each to see if the issue is resolved:
Verify that you are using a Windows configuration that is supported by iCloud. For more information, see iCloud system requirements.
When enabling Calendars in the iCloud Control Panel, part of the setup process is to copy your Calendars data from the default Outlook ".pst" file to iCloud, and then remove the Calendars from the ".pst" file by placing them in the Deleted Items folder in Outlook. The Calendars data is then stored in the iCloud data set within Outlook so that changes can be pushed to and from Outlook by iCloud. Be sure you are looking for your data within the iCloud dataset within Outlook after enabling Calendars in the iCloud Control Panel. The deleted files can be seen by viewing Deleted Items within your Outlook Folder List. This is not iCloud removing your data; iCloud simply copies your data into the iCloud data set and then removes the local Calendars data by placing it in the Deleted Items folder.
Make sure your computer is online. Attempt to view www.apple.com and iCloud.com. If you can't connect to the Internet, your iCloud calendars and events will not update in Outlook. Click here for more information about troubleshooting your Internet connection.
Open a secure website to test if you are online as is necessary for iCloud Calendar. This also tests if the ports 80 and 443 are accessible. Outlook requires port 443 access to iCloud in order to push and pull updates to and from the iCloud Calendar servers.
Verify that your iCloud member name is entered into the iCloud Control Panel pane. See iCloud Setup for more information about setting up iCloud on Windows.
Completely close and reopen the iCloud Control Panel.
If you recently made changes in Outlook and they are not moving to your other devices or vice-versa, click the Refresh button in Outlook.
Turn iCloud Calendar off and back on:
    Close Outlook.
    Open the Windows Control Panel:
In Windows 8, move the pointer to the upper-right corner of the screen to show the Charms bar, click the Search charm, and then click the iCloud Control Panel on the left.
In Windows 7 and Vista, choose Start menu > All Programs > iCloud > iCloud.
Remove the checkmark in the checkbox next to Mail, Contacts, Calendars & Tasks, and click Apply. Wait a few seconds, then replace the checkmark, and click Apply.
Open Outlook and test to see if the issue has been resolved.
Ensure the iCloud Outlook Add-in is active within Outlook.
    Outlook 2010:
    Open Outlook 2010.
    Click the File menu.
Click Options in the left panel of the Outlook window.
Click Add-Ins in the left panel of the Outlook Options window.
Look at the list of add-ins beneath "Active Application Add-Ins" and verify that the "iCloud Outlook Add-in" is listed.
For Outlook 2007, follow these steps to verify the iCloud Outlook Add-in is active
    Open Outlook 2007.
From the Tools menu, choose Trust Center.
Select Add-ins from the left column.
Look at the list of add-ins beneath "Active Application Add-Ins" and verify that the "iCloud Outlook Add-in" is listed.
For additional information about managing Add-ins with Microsoft Outlook, see this Microsoft support document.
Restart your computer. This may sound simple, but it does reinitialize your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.

  • Connecting a SharePoint 2013 Document Library to Outlook 2010 client

    Good Day,
Can someone please confirm if you can connect a SharePoint 2013 Document Library to Outlook 2010 client?
    I have seen articles, like the one shown below for Outlook 2013 to SharePoint 2013;
    http://www.sharepointgeoff.com/how-to-connect-a-sharepoint-2013-document-library-to-outlook-2013/
Please provide a link to documentation to validate what Outlook Office versions will support viewing Document Library from Outlook client from a SharePoint 2013 Document Library.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to review my request.
    Regards,
    Mark

    Hi Mark,
Per my understanding, you might want to connect SharePoint 2013 Document Library to Outlook 2010 client application.
Yes, SharePoint 2013 Document Library can connect to Outlook 2010 client application, the connecting process is similar as what SharePoint 2013 connect to Outlook
    2013 client application does.

  • TS3999 I installed ic;oud on my iphone 4s and my pc laptop ruunning windows 7 and Outlook 2010, my new calendar information is not syncling?  Thoughts?

I installed iCloud on my iPhone 4S and PC running Windows 7 and Outlook 2010.  My calendar is not syncing when I put in new information.  Solutions?

I would say that you would want to look into the "Exchange Mode" for GMail.  That would allow your iPhone to sync calendars, contacts and email with GMail just fine.  Doing the same with your outlook should also then sync those same with your PC using Outlook.  I've done teh iPhone side of this, but I since I don't run Lookout for my email client, I'm not sure how that will work on the PC side.

  • Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2010 Offline Address Book Download

    Hi All,
Strange problem that I can't seem to get to the bottom of.
On a couple of users, about 10/100, can't seem to download the Offline Address Book. When they do a manual Download Address Book through Send/Receive Group, the progress window will remain at about 5% and the status will show "Copying Offline Address Book
Template File". If I leave the window, it will be the same for a couple of hours without erroring out.
We have a casarray set up, forced the ports to 59595 and 59596 for the address book as mentioned the guide. We are not doing SSL redirect on the Virtual Directory. Test-AutoConfiguration from Outlook returns the correct entries. Works for most users but
    not all.
On the users that do not work, I've tried deleting the users profile, deleting the Outlook Directory under AppData. Sometimes, magically (for a lack of a better word), if I check the Offline Address Book Directory a few days later, there are files there.
If I then do a manual Download, same thing, the progress bar will be stuck.
Puzzling as I'm not quite sure what else to check.
All clients are on Windows 7 and Outlook 2010.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Dave K

I also used your recipe  --disconnect the wireless mouse-- and the OAB update worked right away.
(It is not a Microsoft mouse.   )
    Thanks for the information.
I have been trying to find information on non-HID.
If you have any quick tips or a pointer to info about this, I wanted to get a better understanding of this topic.
Does this "wireless" for the mouse use the same "wireless" for the laptop regular network access via WiFi ?
(We had some evidence that when the laptop did not use the wireless mouse the OAB worked OK and/or when the laptop was running only on WiFi the OAB worked OK.    Not sure if this is all the same root cause.)
Also, does anyone know if this is something that Microsoft will fix at some point ?
We are trying to determine if "few or many" people here might be having OAB failures and have not reported it.
    Thanks again.

  • Synching on Windows 7 (64 bit) between Palm desktop (6.2.2) and Outlook 2010

I have recently purchased a new laptop with Windows 7 (64 bit) and Outlook 2010 which I use for email, contacts and calander.  I have managed by a miracle using bluetooth to synch between my Tungsten E2 and Palm desktop and know that there are no tools, as yet, to synch between my E2 and Outlook 2010.  Would  it work as  a two stage process i.e.
    1. synch desktop and outlook
    2. synch desktop and E2.
If so how do I do step one?
    Thanks

In PD 6.2.2 there is a PIM conduit switcher. Have you tried this?
Another option I can think to try is to export your data in a format compatible with Outlook, .csv or .tab and then import into Outlook.
Chapura makes a program called pocket copy. It is a one time transfer of your data from PD to Outlook.
They have a program called Pocket Mirror but is only compatible with 32 bit versions.
Here is a link to their site.

Easy solution for restoring lost calendar informaiton, thank goodness.  On your iPhone, go to settings, then to iCloud.  If your Calendar selection is turned off,  turn it on.  Your info should restore.  If your Calendar selection is turned on, then turn it off.  Choose to save calendars when asked.  After it shuts the Calendar off, turn it back on.  Your info should be restored.
Thank you to Apple support for walking me through this.  Shame on you Apple for not just telling people about this easy fix rather than making us go through all of this pain and worry.
