Autofill in lion?
In lion my "info" wont fill in forms like it did in leopard. when i try to change the information in preferences cant open my "contact card" anyone know what to do?
thank you for your kind reply. This is where I would previously find the sought after file.
I had to jump back to a 10.5 volume to confirm. And yes, this is how it used to go for me.
Now, in Lion, (at least on my computer) there is no Library folder in my User folder.
Application Support now resides in: Hard Drive / Library / Application Support.
Within Application Support, I find no Mail data.
Then, there is: System / Library / Address Book Plug-ins.... but again, no obvious Mail stuff.
Haven't discovered any other Mail supporting files thus far
I'm still miffed

Mail autofill in Lion, where is file kept?
I created a new volume of Lion on my MacPro. The previously used hard drive was corrupted somehow.
I have relied solely on the autofill feature in Apple Mail, and do not keep email contacts in my address book.
In previous OSX incarnations, (Tiger, Leopard, etc.) I found a plist or some other file that when copied to the new system,
brought the accumulated autofill email addresses into the new mail.
Can someone help me locate this nugget ?
Thank you.

HT1338 How to update/edit auto fill in for lion
!@#$_
How do I find the place to edit autofil?
LION OS
Morgana048Is this for Safari?
If so, first place to try would be Safari > Preferences > Autofill.

Autofill puts in wrong phone number
Autofill under Lion insists of putting in my fax number as my home phone number in forms under Safari. I changed the order of phone numbers in my Address Book, tried all sorts of other things, but it continues to use the wrong number as my phone number. Does anyone know how I can fix this?
Someone said, INCORRECTLY, the following:
"In Safari, go to Safari / Preferences / Autofill.
Click the first Edit - there are three of them. You can change the info that way."
That was labeled as having solved the problem. SO I went to that Autofill screen, but that has many phone numbers and many email addresses, and Safari Autofill now often grabs different ones, not only the second entry, instead of the primary one. So we are in agreement, and this should have been fixed by now with the opportuntiy to check off which entry you wish to have Autofill use. -
No autofill or passwords in Safari and Chrome Safari Mountain Lion
After upgrading to Mountain Lion Safari and Crome even Norton Identity safe can't Autofill, use my keychain save passwords or even ask me to save a new password..In Safari I do have check Autofill tab Use name and passwords but nothing , in Chrome I went to advance setings and I have check Ask to save passwords and nothing Norton Identity safe have passwords stored but nothing ..It seems that theres a problem with the system extentions or preferences ......
I need some H E L P !Same problem with my MacBookPro and Mountain Lion. Passwords on the Apple site (like this support site) work fine. My brokerage account does not and they tell me it's not them, but an Apple issue. Also, serial numbers on some of my smaller aps have disappeared; at least one vendor told me it was a common Mountain Lion experience.
I like Mountain Lion but I liked autofill and solid app validation even better. This is a turd in the punchbowl. Hard to believe that a company bent on zero flaws would let this slip through.Could it be due to the sandboxing or other security measure? Is Apple becoming like the US government -- so bent on "security" that it can't fulfill its own mission? -
Autofill has stopped working after installing latest update to OS X Mountail Lion (10.8). Latest of many problems with this OS - wish I had never upgraded to it. Can anyone help?
Hi Eric, it is Safari but I thunk I've solved it by dragging the autofill into the safari toolbar and clicking on it when I want to use the fearture. Nothing else worked. this OS is a crock as far as I am concerned.

Safari 6 under Mountain Lion won't autofill saved passwords
All was well under Lion. As soon as I upgraded to Mountain Lion, Safari 6 stopped autofilling passwords. Usernames, just fine, but passwords would stay blank. If I manually type in my password, Safari prompts me saying:
This password is different. Would you like to replace the saved password with this one?
Whatever I type gets saved in the keychain (verified via Keychain Access look up) so Safari DOES have access to the keychain entry, but apparently write, only, not read.
If I open up a Keychain entry and modify its Access Control to "all applications" as opposed to a control list, it suddenly works. If I try to stay on a control list (for which Safari was already listed) and delete and re-add Safari, the behavior is still broken as above.
What's going on? Keychain First Aid doesn't remedy the problem, and other programs which access the keychain have no issues.Okay, lots of stuff to paste. In command order given:

I have just switched to Lion. However the auto fill function for Safari and Chrome doesn't seem to work. Neither will remembers my user name or password.
This is also true for eBay and other sites I regularly use. What's wrong?

Problem with autofill in Mountain Lion Mail
Autofill in the addresses field not working. If I start typing I get the spinning circle on the right but it fails to pull up anything. Also if you open Addresses in mail its empty. The actual address book app appears to be fine. Does anyone have any suggestion on how to fix it? Its driving me bunkers
Hi, Carolyn.
I have deleted voy.com in keychain and I deleted every user name/password in Safari Preferences for autofill and it's still there.
So I think it must be a problem at Voy's end. I've gone into my account there and tried various things and it's still not working so I'll contact Voy and ask them. I thought it was Safari but I don't think so.
Thanks.

In Lion, Word for Mac only prints last two digits of year
In Snow Leopard, the automatic dates that auto fill in Word for Mac (08, 2011) worked fine...BUT since I 'upgraded' to Lion, (10.7.3) only the last two digits of the year will autofill, EVEN in full date mode...ie, SHOULD BE:
February 21, 2012
BUT auto filled as: February 21, 12
I saw on a MS help site that it's ID'ed as a problem in Lion:
From http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac/forum/macoffice2008-macword/automatic-dat e-entry-doesnt-enter-entire-year/91793432-006b-4f6a-99fa-cf425266cb84
This was the query:
automatic date entry doesn't enter entire year
Applies To: Office for Mac | Office 2008 for Mac | Word for Mac
When I enter the weekday at the beginning of a sentence, the month, date and year are automatically filled in. However, instead of having the whole years, such as 2011, it only enters the last two digits, such as "11". This is new since an update a month or so ago. I would like to set it back to the original "Friday, November 04, 2011" if possible.
Appreciate any help I can get.
ANSWER:
Its a bug in OSX.7 evidently MS has not rung up Apple and said hey get off your duff and fix this date issue. If you can find a place to send bug report to Apple do so.
So I checked the OSX Lion support site on apple.com and could not find an answer.
Does anyone know how to fix or how to get Apple to fix?
Thank you. It's a bug, but whether it's a bug for Apple to fix or for Microsoft to fix is unknown. The thread you post is unauthoritative, being only comments by other users who have no more idea as to where the bug really lies (unless an Apple engineer has confirmed a Lion bug, something I've not seen) as any other user does; no one in that thread works for or speaks for either Microsoft nor Apple.
You can comment on the issue to Apple, if you wish:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
but whether it's something they can fix or whether it's Microsoft's problem I can't say.

Strange Application Issues after Mountain Lion Upgrade!
I'm having, what I believe to be, strange issues with a clean install of Mountain Lion from 10.6.8
It's for my boss' computer at work so I can't afford to have it down for very long at a time. It's hard to pinpoint the issue(s).
Computer:
Mac Pro - Early 2009
OS X 10.8.3
2 x 2.6 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
32 GB 1066 MHz DDR3
The startup disk is 4x2TB RAID 5 using Apple RAID card (Firmware version: E-1.3.2.0; Hardware Revision: 2.00; Driver version: 124
The following is what happened/is happening:
1. (Tuesday)
Created a bootable backup of system drive using Disk Utility
Performed a Clean install
Used migration assistant to copy over applications from backup
Downloaded (from Amazon) and installed Microsoft Office 2011
Imported Addresses (including imported Previous Recipients that were imported into Contacts before exporting on old system)
Setup email & copied over mailboxes from backup
Moved all files back onto the system (User folders)
Everything worked fine from Wednesday - Sunday.
Problems reported to me (Sunday)
"Chinese characters" on save dialogue box in Microsoft Excel
Mail crashed while dragging a photo from safari to it
After a restart, Mail, all Microsoft Office apps, and Final Cut Pro wouldn't open.
Tried to reset preference files, but nothing worked.
2. (Monday night)
Performed another Clean Install
Migrated Applications
Transferred mailboxes (not old emails at this time)
Imported same group of addresses as before into Contacts
Installed Microsoft Office
Moved user data back
Transferred old email mailboxes (Tuesday afternoon)
Everything worked fine Tuesday - Thursday early morning)
Problems reported to me (Thursday morning)
When typing in an email address to send an email, it didn't autofill. Mail crashed.
Mail wouldn't open. Different from last, this time it said the ~/Library/Mail folder was moved. I checked and the folder was there with everything in it fine.
The Microsoft applications that were open at the time of the Mail crash still worked, but others wouldn't open. After closing the open applications then they wouldn't open back up (same as before)
Final Cut Pro opened fine.
Fixed Mail by deleting the ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail folder.
Later found out that though Final Cut would open it would crash when loading a project and that Quicklook wouldn't work for quicktime files across the network & codecs were missing (this could have been cause by me when trying to test problems).
3. (Sunday)
Restored from a different bootable backup I made after 2nd clean install and migrated applications.
Repaired Permissions using Disk Utility
Moved over Mail data
Copied over user data
*Didn't import the addresses
Checked to make sure all the fonts were validated and no duplicates
Everything worked fine after install and through Monday.
Problems to me (Tuesday morning)
Microsoft Office disappeared completely from the computer. No folder in Applications or dock icons.
Slower to connect to network files
Re-installed Microsoft Office to keep work progress going.
What would be causing this peculiarity? It works after I fix it and for a little afterwards but then strange things happen.
Would repairing disk permissions on bootable backup (of 10.6.8) before using migration assistant help?
What is the best way to track down what is causing these issues?
Thanks!I suggest that the best way to upgrade from 10.6.8 to Mountain Lion is one of the following:
(1) Simply perform an upgrade install. This is in fact Apple's recommended approach. I am not sure why you have not yet tried that. I have done this myself successfully.
(2) Make a backup of the working 10.6.8 system; better yet is to make two complete backups, one being a "clone," the other being a Time Machine backup. Use of two different methods gives you options should something go wrong. Then erase the original disk and install Mountain Lion, and on the first boot up run Setup Assistant (which is better than Migration Assistant) and transfer over EVERYTHING, including user accounts, settings, applications. I have also used this approach, also successfully.
You did neither (1) nor (2), but seem to have done some sort of hybrid by transfering applications and then manually moving over some mail files and moving over some user files. I don't think this is a recommended approach. It can result in permissions issues, which can cause things to "disappear" or otherwise behavior oddly.
I do not understand how your use of a RAID setup and a RAID card might affect any procedures which otherwise might work smoothly. Are you 100% certain that your RAID hardware and firmware are compatible with Mountain Lion?
Assuming that the RAID is not the issue and it behaves to the OS just like a normal disk, I would try the full disk erase and install of Mountain Lion followed by a Setup Assistant on first boot up to move over everything from your clone backup.
If this does not work, then I would erase and restore back from your clone, so you get your 10.6.8 system working again. Then I would try a simple upgrade install of Mountain Lion.
If that fails, then I would erase and install Mountain Lion with one new administrative user created who has a different user name than the person whose stuff you need to restore. Then with that new administrative user I would make sure the RAID is all up and running. Then I would use Migration Assistant to migrate over users only and would reinstall all software from scratch. If that is not to your liking, I'd as a less desirable alternative use Migration Assistant to migrate over everything, applications and users. You will have that new, extra administrative user as well as the original user(s), but that should cause no harm. -
IOS 5.1.1 Safari AutoFill
Hi,
iPod Touch 4th gen., iOS 5.1.1. Safari with iOS 5.1.1 han an AutoFill function.
On my MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion, Safari 6.0 has an AutoFill function and a Passwords Tab. Which I assume when using are secure.
By secure I mean that passwords are encrypted which I'm assuming that Safari 6.0 on my MacBook does (seems to replace the Keychain function, at least regarding Safari 6.0)
Is the AutoFill function on Safari with iOS 5.1.1 also as secure as in Safari 6.0 with Mountain Lion? If not, then can I trust using it?
Thx
