Autofit column width to table cell content in Pages

Hello,
Would anyone know how to autofit the column width of a table cell in Pages '09?
I have searched Pages Help to no avail.
Thank you very much in advance.

There is a checkbox in the table inspector to auto-resize to fit content. Unfortunately, that only seems to work with rows, not columns.

    Hi Prashant,
    You haven't mentioned if you are using Webdynpro or HTMLB JSPDynPages.
    If its the webdynpro, you can declare then and there itself that the content to the table column is a row my changing the property.
    If it is a HTMLB component TableVIew that you are trying to use, you can include a TableCellRenderer Class which renders the cells of the table at the runtime as links or buttons or whatever you want to put.
    So let me know, what exactly you are trying to use, then finding a solution will be more clear.

    Hi Monika
    Wrapping property is not available at table level.
    The individual columns header and content in the text views only you can wrap.
    If the table column cell editor is a Text View , then you can see the Wrapping property and you can change it to true for wrapping.. For column headers also you can set the property.

  • Space in table cell content

    Hi,
    I want to add some space before and after the table cell content. I am using setIntercellSpacing() method to achieve that and I could get the required functionality. But its adding space in the Table Header also which looks odd. Is there any way to set the spacing only for the cell and not for the table header.
    Let me know if anyone has solution for this.

    I find this behaviour of setIntercellSpacing() very annoying, too. Why the hell did the Swing developers implement it that way?
    Nevertheless, you can create the desired effect by writing a custom cell renderer, but that is if course more work than that single method call.

  • Table of Content with page number for entire pdf

    We need to merge dynamic pdf with n number of static pdf.
    The output of the generated pdf has one of the page called Table Of Content with page number.
    For this we have created following process
    We created a form using Adobe livecycle form designer to populates input data(xml).
    We created process to generate dynamic pdf .
    We have static pdf's in some folder location(Eg:C:\temp)
    We created xsl to generate DDX to merge Dynamic pdf with static pdf's by using an assembler operation in the Process
    There are number of static specification pdf's  inserted in between of dynamic pdf using logic in xsl.
    We used bookmark option in xsl for creating table of content .
    While invoking the process we are able to generate the correct merged pdf with some unformatted page of table of content
    We can explain better in the following way where we are actually facing a challenge:
    We need a table of content in the below mentioned format:

    Since the pdf merging and numbering is done  using ddx at runtime, page number tag is not there in xml and  therefore the toc page cannot be populated at the time of form design.
    The issue we are facing is that, by using ddx script we are not able to align id,name,description in  table of content in proper manner. We want to wrap particular id ,name and description in their respective columns.
    Currently, we are getting the below mentioned result which is not in a proper format.

    According to your description, you want to display the table of contents with page number in SSRS 2014.
    In Reporting Services, the global variable PageNumber or Totalpages can be only used in the page header and page footer. In your scenario, you can create a table of content using document map, but we can’t specify the expression with PageNumber or Totalpages.
    So your requirement can’t be achieved currently.

  • How to create a Table of Contents using Pages 09?

    Hi guys,
    I have little problems creating a Table of Contents in Pages, though it seems quite simple. I'm working with the template 'Term Paper' and I use paragraph styles (Title, Heading I, II, etc.). I have some very long documents (about 80 pages long) so I wanted to create a TOC (using sections) but it says:
    The table of contents is empty because none of the paragraph styles selected in the Document Inspector are used in the document.
    When I compare the paragraph styles I do use and the paragraph styles in the Document Inspector, they match. So I'm a bit upset about this because I really need to use this great feature!

    I would say: Try and Error. Create a copy of your document and unmark in the copied document in the document inspector all boxes for the TOC. Then mark them again. Maybe you should also delete the paragraph styles and mark them again. If that doesn't work, try to copy the complete text of your document to a new created one. Maybe that works.

  • Linking table of contents with pages 5.0

    I write some help-books for friends and the family.
    I wrote down everything I need and I've created a table of contents with page numbers.
    Now you can push the numbers behind the headings and you are automatically on the right page for reading the text. (In Pages document)
    In pages 5.0 these things are still working fine, but....
    When I export the document into a pdf, you can't push/touch the headings and the numbers behind there headings.
    With the old pages, after exporting the document into a pdf, you could import it into iBooks on the iPad. In iBooks now you can touch a heading and you'll get on the right page.
    That was realy helpfull, 1 click and you could read the text on which you're interested.
    But with the new pages 5.0 this feature is deleted... or I do something wrong.
    Could anyone of you help me for getting this feature back, if I do something wrong?

    Well there is a standard body for EPUB - http://idpf.org/epub
    And, Apple furnishes the TEMPLATE - the Pages 09 TEMPLATE - automatically (supposedily) makes the TOC links which - then - you can export to EPUB.
    Again, the problem I'm daling with is that the Kindle for the iPad, does not see the TOC. It des see it in the Kindle Softward for the Mac - which is different - for some reason. I have authored two books on Pages but Amazon converts my EPUB file to fit the Kindle device itself.

  • Table of contents in Pages - can't get it to work

    Tried creating a Table of Contents in pages
    Marked my headlines, changed them into title, heading and subheading.
    When everything needed was changed into proper format, I wanted to insert the table of contents from the menu. I get the error message, that no text is formatted in the correct way and therefore my table of contents can't be created.
    I previously used MS Office - and creating a table of contents works in the same way. I have read the users guide for Pages, trying to figure out what I've done wrong - but it didn't work out.
    If anybody could solve this peace of mystery I'll be very thankful

    you helped Maria so well. Maybe you can help me aswell ... I just started using Pages (trial version) and have used MS Office before that. I want to create a TOC based on styles that are numbered as follows: 1. heading 1
    1.1. heading 2
    1.1.1. heading 3
    1.1.1.1. heading 4 asf.
    If I create a numbered style it will only have 1. and no further level (is that the right word? I'm German, sorry!). If I create a style from a numbered list (where it is possible to have different levels) I can create a TOC but have to format that completely aswell (the TOC doesn't have the format of the headings, in particular the numbers are gone and also the format). In MS Word it seems to be much easier. Here I create a style (heading 1, 2, 3, etc.) and can asign numbers and levels to the headings. The TOC shows the exact same format as the headings in the document. How can this be achieved in Pages? Apple should actually do better then MS, shouldn't it?!

    I am writing my master thesis right now and the structure is as follows: two cover pages, acknowledgments, abstracts and then i would like to put a table of contents. previous pages are done with the appropriate style (heading 1) but when i insert the TOC, it's empty. Is there a way it can include the previous headings? I hope this is clear enough! Thank you very much!

    You are hitting the result of the use of common resources for the Help and for the User Guide.
    In the Help, the part which you reproduced is really page different of the referenced one.
    It seems that the draft of the User Guide was made from the Help with a piece of code replacing the links between Help 'pages' by references to paper pages.
    Sometimes the result is effectively funny but not sufficient for "a good laugh" .

    I can not find how to create a Table of Content in Pages. Do you know how?

    Nearly one year later....
    The iOS version of Pages does not include an automatic Table of Contents feature. Which unfortunately makes Pages pretty much useless for my purposes. A TOC functions amongst others as a dynamic outline of a book and is as essential to me as page numbering. Why something so important and basic  is not included in ios Pages is a mystery to me.

    All tables in a document:
    1) All $, %, ), columns should be fixed width “1p”
    2) All empty column should be “1p”
    3) All superscript content column like [1, (1), *] should be “1p”
    4) Remaining all columns (except first column) should be “6p” width and values are right aligned
    5) First column always variable width
    6) All underlines values should be 0.5 bottom border, border only need ‘$’ column and ‘value’ column (not in ‘)’ ‘%’ 1, (1), *) columns.
    7) Also table should be fit within text area (100%)
    The below script is working fine but it missed the requirements for (point no 3 and 6).
    Sometimes empty columns are not converted into "1p" because of spanning (see the below table), Can you please ignore the spanned columns while running the script or put any input dialogue box for "number of rows to ignore".

    Please do not post drive-by follow-ups to random ancient threads. The Column Width property referred to was introduced in APEX 4.0 in June 2010, 2 months after this thread originated. Whilst the new information might be useful for someone using APEX 4.0 who finds this thread in a search, this question occurs in hundreds of other threads: are you going to update all of them?
    And the Column Width property is in the Column Definition section of the column attributes...

    I have a search utility that shows my database query results in a read-only table.
    Say this table T has columns C1-C5 and rows R1-R5.
    Data returned in column C3 has a VARCHAR count between 2000-4000.
    Currently the table only displays somewhere in the region of 500 characters (on mouse hover) for this column, the page depends how far you can stretch the table column.
    My question is three part:
    - is there an ADF component that will allow me to copy the contents of a cell, for example, column C3 row R1.
    - is there an ADF component that will allow me to expand the cell(C3/R1) in a popup window? (And enable other cells in the C3 column to do the same)
    - is there an ADF component that will allow me to open the cell contents in a new window? or .txt (And enable other cells in the C3 column to do the same)

    User, which jdev version do you use?
    All this can be done.
    1) Yes, but this depends on the use case (e.g. per drag & drop or copy & paste using the keyboard)
    2) Yes a popup which you e.g. show on hoover which shows all text or you click on the cell and open a popup
    3) Yes, if your table is in click to edit mode or you show a form with all attributes of the selected row in a new window (which allows you to layout the components better).

  • Table Cell Contents Disappears Please HELP!!!!

    PROBLEM: I have a different tables within different table cells in the Master table. One table per Master cell. Once I click on a table cell (0,0) and click on another table cell (1,1) the cell (0,0) blanks out. Likewise with other cells so that if I've click on all the cells in the Master Table and then clicked somewhere else all cell contents have disappeared.
    QUESTION: Do I need to call some UI refresh procedure????? I have a cell renderer which returns the table for each Master's Cell.
    I don't if this is clear but please help!

    the problem is that the DefaultCellEditor can't handle tables.
    So you have to write your CellEditor, which returns another table as Editor.
