Autofs not working in ML

Question

I have a problem with Autofs in OSX 10.8
I have an afp file share set up on a ubuntu server
I map this share to a mac mini using finder menu “connect to sever”
This includes user and password and this works fine.
mac-mini:Volumes$ ls
Home Directory          Resources
Macintosh HD            firmwaresyncd.Hdawx3
files on server
mac-mini:Volumes$ cd 'home Directory'
mac-mini:home Directory $ ls
Disk_TV                 Network Trash Folder  
Disk_Video              Temporary Items         parity
and now to Autofs
master map file in etc
# Automounter master map
/Volumes/Resources auto_resources   
+auto_master            # Use directory service
/net                    -hosts          -nobrowse,hidefromfinder,nosuid
/home                   auto_home       -nobrowse,hidefromfinder
/Network/Servers        -fstab
/-                      -static
auto_resource file in ect
#auto_resources
media -fstype=afp afp://smith:[email protected]/home
mac-mini:etc $ sudo automount -vc
automount: /Volumes/Resources updated
automount: /net updated
automount: /home updated
automount: no unmounts
mac-mini:etc $
mac-mini:Resources $ ls
media
mac-mini:Resources $ cd media
-bash: cd: media: STREAM ioctl timeout
mac-mini:Resources $
Appreciate any ideas
permissions are correct in MM
Any help really appreciated

I had exactly this problem and it turned out that the problem was that the name of the file share on the NAS is case sensitive. To use your file share as an example in my case:
afp://smith:[email protected]/home
should have been
afp://smith:[email protected]/Home
