AutoImporter iPhone Photo Duplicate issue

I took  a look in my iphone photo synch folder today and noticed that for some of the photos, there were dozens of duplicates (i.e. file 1.jpg, but had duplicates 1 1.jpg, 1 2.jpg, etc.).
This isn't happening to all of the photos, only some. I deleted all of the contents of the synch folder, rebooted and resynched, but same scenario. Each time I connect the iphone, it creates additional duplicate copies of some of these photos.
I looked at the photos in Image Capture and there are no duplicates listed there.
Any suggestions? Is next step to try and delete everything from Image Capture or something? The images that get duplicated view OK, so doesn't seem to be corrupted or anything.

I just discovered AutoImporter and ran into exactly same issue. I'm afraid, there's nothing that can be done about it, it's just Apple way of making software: take brilliant idea and deliberately ruin its implementation with a small detail. AutoImporter is just another useless piece of software in OS X bundle, designed to make life easier but doing otherwise.
Nevertheless, I'd be glad to be wrong and to hear someone's solution on how to avoid duplicates or another way to download previously unsynced photos from iphone/ipad upon connection.

  • IPhone photo albums issues

So I have an issue. All the .gif files I have on my computer that I upload to my phone via iTunes (syncing photo albums) are magically converted to .jpg files. This is incredibly annoying because I want them to be animated when I email or text them. Is there a way to fix his, or perhaps use an SSH program to manually create photo albums on the iPhone?
    Thanks in advance

Right... But I definitely dont want to do that for 90+ images.
Besides I dont want them in the normal camera roll. I want them in a separate album

  • IPhone Photo Sync Issues

I have an iPhone 4 from 2011 and a MacBook from 2009.  It's been a couple months since I've plugged in my phone to update/sync, and it won't allow me to access any photos!  It synced my music, apps, etc via iTunes but wouldn't sync my pictures. Since it usually just opens the iPhoto icon when I plug in my phone, I decided to open the app myself.  It acknowledges that my iPhone is plugged in but doesn't use my iPhone by it's name and says that there are no pictures on it.  I've tried to go in through Preview - File - Import from Apple iPhone but it says there aren't any pictures on there either.  I promise I'm not crazy; there are pictures on my phone! Any idea how I could get them to sync onto my computer?  Is it a computer issue or a phone issue?

I decided to eject my iPhone & plug it back in one more time... And it worked!  Not quite sure what happened originally but I'm glad it seems to be fixed now.

  • IPhone photos - duplicate imports

I am using Aperture 2.1.1 I import images as managed files and change the names to a custom master name (basically my initialsyear_month_daytime). I have the "do not import duplicates" box checked. This works for my other cameras, but Aperture keeps importing duplicates from my iPhone. They all end up re-named the same, so it isn't hard to see that there are duplicate masters there.
Any suggestions what to do to keep it from duplicating the iPhone images? Thanks!

same problem here exactly. It's not all the photos, just the same 15 of them everytime. really annoying since I can't see any differences in the metadata. I even deleted the dupes, and deleted all the photos from the iphone, then resynchronized to the aperture folder. It still wants to import those 15 photos when I reconnect. Performing a manual import immediately after they're imported does not cause duplicates though, only when I first connect the iphone.

  • IPhone photo transfer issue

on my iPhone 5, I can see one photo in camara roll, I edited it and saved in camara roll.  Then i connected my iPhone to my pc, I opened my iPhone on the pc and i can see the original photo but not the edited one on my pc, why? how to fix it? Thank you.

You need to have an application on your computer that can read XMP metadata in order to see the edited version.  Read here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4253.

  • IPad/iPhone photo duplicates

I have a iphone, ipad and Mac (with iPhoto). When I sync them and go to photos on the iphone or ipad, the photos are duplicated when I go to Photos (Collections) on either the iphone or ipad.  How do I set this up so I don't have duplications?

Adding my name to this too...seems a pervasive problem...this has happened before and Apple sorted it out eventually with an update...very annoying though... It seems to be only ipad related as my desktop and iphone are fine...

  • Iphone photo transfer issues

Been trying to work out how to to transfer photos onto my iphone without replacing the current ones, normally id put them in the folder i sync them from on my pc, but due to a small fire thats not a option, and ive yet to work out a way of keeping them on there and still be able to update the phone any ideas?

As I understand, you can't access the folder you used to sync your pictures anymore. In this case, your only chance to copy your photos from your phone to your computer would be 3rd party software like [touchcopy|http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy] or similar. Software of this kind is not supported by Apple. Only photos taken with the camera are part of the backup: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766

  • Iphone sync / duplicate issues

I've just got an iphone 4 and admit to being dim. Two issues:
I bought SmartSync app to sync with Facebook contacts. I've now got multiple entries for some contacts. Is there any way to merge them?
How do I sync my contacts with my imac so that I've got a back-up if I lose the phone?
    Help gratefully received. Thanks.

There is no merge option with the iPhone.
The iPhone is designed to sync contacts with a supported address book application on your computer. With a Mac, this can be with the Address Book app. If you use the Address Book app on your Mac for contacts - the Address Book includes contacts and your iPhone does as well, you will be provided a merge prompt with the first sync for this data, which you want to select. Syncing contacts with the Address Book is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
If you have never used the Address Book on your Mac - you have never added a contact, before the first sync for this data enter one contact in the Address Book on your Mac to provide the merge prompt with the first sync for this data which you want to select.
After this, you can merge contacts, edit contacts, or delete contacts with the Address Book on your Mac followed by another sync.

  • IPhoto photo stream time zone/ duplicates issue

I've got a bunch of duplicate photos in my iPhoto library on my Macbook from both manually importing photos from iPhone when connected and from syncing via Photo Stream.
I've since disactivated Photo Stream, but still had duplicate photos on my computer.
I've merged all the albums called "October Photo Stream" with the other imports into one big list sorted by date.
The problem is, I was travelling quite a bit across different time zones, so they're not all really in order. It seems the Photo Stream copy of the photo (the one with the keyword attached) has the time and date as my "home" timezone, not as the "local" timezone as per the time where the photo was taken.
    Is this by design?
I'd now like to remove all the duplicates and was thinking I'd just search for Photo Stream keyword, then select all those pics and delete.... the problem is I'm not sure which ones actually have duplicates as they don't all have duplicates! I really can't figure out how/why some exist as duplicates and others don't... perhaps something to do with when I was/wasn't near a wifi network (applicable while I was travelling but less so for pictures at home as my wifi is always on at home).
This photo stream "feature" is confusing as ****, and don't even get me started on the other iCloud services like docs... could they have designed it any more counter intuitive if they tried?
    Any advice/ assistance appreciated.
Further, if I reactivate photo stream in future, how do I stop this behaviour from happening again?

I've noticed this same problem. I just got back from a trip overseas and the time on all my iPhone photos imported from the photo stream is wrong by two hours (the time difference). It seems a bit stupid to have the photos time stamped with your home time zone, and it means that when I imported the photos from my camera they're all out of order and I need to adjust the time on all the iPhoto photos. That's not particulary hard, it just seems unncessary. I hope someone form Apple notices this and fixes the problem.

  • All my photo libraries in my iPhone have duplicate photos since I have installed IOS 6.  Please help.

All my photo libraries in my iPhone have duplicate photos since I have installed IOS 6. I work with Aperture 3.3 not iPhoto! Also, most of the photos in my camera library have been deleted without my consent! I'm very ****** about that! Please help.

Photos in Photo Library are the ones that you've synced from your iTunes to your iPad. To free up space, you should delete these photos on your Photo Library since you already have the copies on your computer: Connect your iPad with your computer > Launch iTunes > click your iPad and navigate to Photos window > check Sync Photos from > select an empty folder and click Apply to carry out the syncing. After then, all photos in your Photo Library will be deleted.
As for photos in Camera Roll on your iPad, you should copy them to your computer for backup and deleted the copies on your iPad:Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac or Windows PC - Apple Support

  • I am frequently experiencing Iphone 5 camera issues, while taking photos all of the sudden the camera going to hang mode

    Hi,
    Greetings !!!
I would like to know what is the root cause of Iphone camera hanging ?
I am very frequently experiencing Iphone 5 camera issues like while taking photos all of the sudden the camera going to hang mode with full of pink & black line.
I noticed while camera app turns ON the phone going to hand.
I went to apple services server with this problem & they said they didn't see any errors.
Kindly response with my request, and provide me the solution.
    Thannks & regards,
    -Vamsi

That often happens with cameras when you take pictures of a computer screen. LCD screens "flicker" and the camera will often catch the flicker.

  • Photo sync issues with iPhone 3GS

My wife is having two problems with photos on the iPhone.
The first problem she is having is some photos that she wants on the iPhone will not sync because "The iPhone cannot display them". The photos are in JPG format, and she has several other JPGs on the iPhone.
Which leads us to the second problem. When she syncs the iPhone with iTunes she gets duplicate photos on the iPhone. Also, they cannot be deleted as there is no trash icon when she browses them.
Her phone is a 1 day old 16 GB 3GS, using a Win XP machine (iTunes 8.2.1.6)
Any help is appreciated as she is very frustrated by this.
    Thanks,
    -Seth

Photos transferred from the computer to the iPhone via the iTunes sync process are selected under the Photos tab for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. Photos transferred via the iTunes sync process is a one way transfer process only - from the computer to the iPhone, and are removed from the iPhone in the same way - via the iTunes sync process - the same for music and video. Photos transferred to the iPhone via the iTunes sync process cannot be deleted by the iPhone. Photos captured by the iPhone - photos in the iPhone's camera roll can be deleted by the iPhone.
Not sure about the photos that will not transfer problem - I've never had a problem transferring any photos from my Mac, which are all jpeg format.

  • IPhone 4 duplicate photos

I find that when taking a photo using HDR on, two images appear of the same shot.
Does anyone know why this is?

The iPhone's HDR feature essentially takes three different exposures that use different exposure settings and then combines them automatically for and HDR image. There will be an underexposure, a regular exposure, and an overexposure taken with the iPhone's camera, they will then be combined into the final HDR image. If you have selected the iPhone's HDR to the On setting then it will automatically do this, and then place the regular exposure and the iPhone's HDR image into your Photo Album.
When you are taking HDR photos with the iPhone you are going to notice that the default setting is to save both the original base photos as well as the HDR photo that is created. This can be turned off easily in the standard iPhone Photo settings, where you can find in the iPhone Settings right above Store and below iPod. There you can turn the "Keep Normal Photo" button to the Off position, which will stop the saving of both the standard exposure and the HDR photo.
