Automate Backup for Cisco ASR 1k

Looking to automate the backup process and send it to another location via FTP.

Hi JP,
Yes as long as it can ping the routers then you will be fine.  You will need to make sure the SNMP/TFTP and account config is setup correctly as well.  With regard to bandwidth usage I am not sur ebaout this but it will be pretty small, the largest hit will be the pulling of the config (nightly/weekly) but the conigs are normally <50K.
Hope this helps.
David.

  • Automatic Backups for PC (Vista & XP) using Time Capsule

Does anyone know if PCs (Vista & XP) can be configured for automatic backup on Time Capsule?
We have 4 Macs running Leopard and the auto backup is working fine there.
Additionally, we have a couple of PCs running Vista & XP and I would like them to auto backup also.
    Thanks for your help!

No problem with the Windows part. First map a drive to the TC seems to be more stable then using the Airport utility. Then use the free NT backup utility that comes with XP, you will need to copy the utility and chm and the files ntmsapi.dll and vssapi.dll into a folder on the Vista machine but it will work fine. Also need to enable the Removable Storage management feature in the OS.
Another solution, consider Microsoft OneCare, it has a good backup feature.
    Hope this helps

  • Cisco ASR 1006 and WAAS

    Hi,
Is there any built-in WAAS and NME features or services in Cisco ASR 1006? Or is there any WAAS or NME module that can be installed in Cisco ASR 1006? I found that for Cisco ISR 1900, 2900, and 3900, WAAS and NME services can be enabled by installing SRE and NME module. But can't find any information for Cisco ASR 1006.
    Really appreciate your help.
    Thanks

    Hi Marvin
There is no option for this.
on the 4510 the only options under the interface are
speed nonegotiate or no speed nonegotiate (for auto)
Similarly on the ASR no negotiation auto or negotiation auto. setting each device to auto/manual or manual/auto has no effect on the ASR port - its still down

I just bought an iphone 5.  I came home to backup my iphone 4 to my pc (Windows 7).  I transferred purchases, then selected "automatically Backup", then clicked on "This Computer", saying a full backup would be stored on this computer.  that was almost 3 hours ago.  the slanted lines are continually moving across the to and the circle with arrows is still revolving on my phone and beside my device name on the side toolbar.  Is it stuck or does it really take this long?  My 16GB phone is almost full, so there's not a lot of empty space available.  I want to stop it but I'm scared I'll lost the info on my phone.  I do have it backed up to icloud, but that doesn't get everything, does it?  Help please!  I'm not real computer savvy, or itunes savvy, so please speak plain talk!  Thank you!

  • I want to change the file location for the automatic backup file bookmarks.file, but I can't find browser.bookmarks.file in the list on the about:config page.

I asked about automatic backup of bookmarks and received the following answer:You can make Firefox 3 create an automatic HTML backup (bookmarks.html) when you exit Firefox if you set the pref [http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML] to true on the about:config page. That backup is created by default in the profile folder as bookmarks.html, but you can set the file name and path via the pref [http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.bookmarks.file browser.bookmarks.file] on the about:config page. I went to about:config page and toggled browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML to “Yes” and it’s working. However, I want to change the file location, but I can’t find browser.bookmarks.file in the list.

The browser.bookmarks.file preference does not exist by default. Right-click in about:config and select "New > String" to create it.

  • How long does it take for iCloud to automatically backup?

I understand that when you plug in your iPhone, i Cloud will automatically backup.. when does it begin the backup process? As in how long after it has been plugged in does it begin to back up data such as pictures from the phone?

If you have an iCloud backup, it's hard to tell when it's going to start with the backup process. It will be at least once a day, and from my experience, it seems to be when nothing else is goimg on with the iPad. However, if you want to start that process yourself, you can do so by gping to Settings, then iCloud, then Backup, then Back Up Now. That way you can pick the backup to start any time you want.

  • Defined Groups for Cisco Jabber Group Chat

I dont think it is possible based upon this document but wondering if anyone knew any secrets out there. Is it possible to create predefined groups in Jabber for Windows preferably as defined in Active Directory or on the client side? We want to have chat groups automatically created for Sales, Engineering, etc. so users dont have to add other chat recipients users manually and can reach any engineering team member without knowing who is actually part of the engineering team for example.
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/jabber/Windows/9/JABW_BK_C56E95B6_00_feature-guide.html

    Hi,
Jabber for Windows 9.7 supports Persistent Chat end user participation.
Our next Release, 10.5 will add Room Administration and Moderator features, including room creation.
    Persistent Chat Rooms
Users in your organization can use persistent chat rooms to share ideas and information in a chat room. The chat rooms look like group chats, except that the chat rooms stay active even after participants leave the room. When participants come back to the room, they can scroll back to read the messages that they missed.
Participants can manage their chat rooms by browsing the existing rooms and joining open rooms, or being added to a room by an administrator. When they are in the chat rooms, participants can create mentions for other users, which notifies the mentioned user if they are a member of the room. They can also search chat rooms for particular keywords or senders by creating filters.
Administrator tasks include creating, configuring, and deleting chat rooms, and adding or removing users from chat rooms. In this release, chat room administration and moderation must be performed with a client that supports persistent chat room administration. Cisco Jabber for Windows will provide administrative capabilities in a future release.
Cisco Unified Communications Manager IM and Presence Version 10 is a software prerequisite for persistent chat rooms.
For end user information about persistent chat rooms, see the chapter on Chats in the Advanced Feature Guide.
For administrator information about enabling persistent chat rooms, see the Installation and Configuration Guide and the Server Setup Guide.

    FAQ

Is there a Cisco lab available for ASR 9000
we have "XR4U" stations coming available soon when XR 511 comes alive. The plan is for a downloadable play image like that. In the interim we have 2 demo systems available, and they can be booked via your account manager representative.
How will MOD160 perform with multiple 9000NVS?
very well. the mod 160 has 4 NPU's, 2 per bay. So if you have a 4x10 MPA to serve a satellite, you effectively have a single NPU per 20 1Gigs from the satellite. The pps performance will be stellar. However it might be price technically more ideal to connect satellite with a 36x10. Since the MOD-x has native MPA's with 1G also.
         2. Is there a shortcut for a Bundle-EthernetX interface, such as port-channel interface (poX), in Cisco IOS® ?.
usability enhancement is there, we are trying to push this into a new reasonable release. follow CSCuh04526
         3. What  is the revolutions per minute (RPM) on these hard disk drives (HDDs)  compared to the solid state drives (SDDs)? Will the spinning drives be  slow?
depends on the type we had avaialble at time of production, you will see different sizes and disks on the RSP2. the rpm of the HD is not so much an issue as much as the buffered writing we used to do in XR. This is fixed up with XR43 where the disk writing performance is much better. the HD/SDD is used for logging storage only (and maybe your pictures) but other then that we're not that concerned with write perf of the HD.

  • Automatic backups are not working on one drive in Mt. Lion

I am having some trouble with automatic backups  from my 2009 MacBook Pro to one drive in Mountain Lion:
    * The drive in question is an external 500 GB USB or Firewire drive.
    * I encrypted the drive with FileVault 2
    * Manual backups work fine to this drive.
    * Automatic backups work fine from the MBP to my server at home (running Mt. Lion Server)
I have tried multiple iterations of deleting Time Machine preferences, and even of erasing the external drive, to no avail.  The only lead I have is that the MBP logs the following error when I back up to the external drive:
    9/4/12 12:01:33.899 PM com.apple.backupd[28054]: Failed to upgrade encrypted tmbootpicker.efi: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=-50 "Could not find any Apple_Boot corresponding to the encrypted volume..." UserInfo=0x7f81e28694a0 {NSLocalizedDescription=Could not find any Apple_Boot corresponding to the encrypted volume...}
For what it's worth, here is the partition map from my machine, including the drive in question (/dev/disk3):
    /dev/disk0
       #:                       TYPE NAME                    SIZE       IDENTIFIER
       0:      GUID_partition_scheme                        *1.0 TB     disk0

       #:                       TYPE NAME                    SIZE       IDENTIFIER
       0:                  Apple_HFS WSE-Buffalo-3          *499.4 GB   disk3
The error makes sense based on the partition map, but I'm not sure how to recreating the missing Apple_Boot volume.  I suspect that missing volume is causing automatic backups to fail(???).  Any suggestions are welcome.  Thanks.

Please find diskutil cs list output appended to this article.  Well, the plot thickens.  Now, automatic backups are being skipped on the server backup from the laptop.  Thiis started occurring after Time Machine did a lengthy verify (fsck?) of the backup.  Automatic backups are working fine from our other three computers.  The server backs up to the local disk, and the other two computers use the server.  I think the next thing to do is to look at Time Machine preferences...

  • When I downloaded iOS 7 my iTunes album art automatically changed for me. Loved it. When I downloaded iOS 8 update it went back to the original artwork. How do I get it back like iOS 7??

Okay, I'm going to try and make as much sense as I possibly can without confusing people. I hope someone can help! So when I downloaded the iOS 7 update one 'major' change I noticed was that my album art in iTunes had automatically changed for me. It was really cool, more up-to-date, and overall enjoyed how it looked. Made it look a lot neater than my own album art I had put on there. Now, when I downloaded the new iOS 8 update I notice that all my album art when back to its original picture which I had put on there. How do I get it back to where it was when I downloaded the iOS 7 Update?? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I know this isn't the most "dying for help" question, but I'm curious anyways to why it has changed. Thanks!

Sorry no backup - no pictures.
Yes phone will automatically backup to icloud when on wifi and phone is charge, but your phone storage was full so it stop backing up.

  • Create automatic backup?

Is it possible to set Acrobat Pro 9.0 to create an automatic backup of whatever document you are working on? I don't mean "save". For example, in MS Word, I have my preferences set so that a document named Backup Document Name is automatically created as I work on the document, so in case there is a computer or application crash while using the document, the Backup Document is automatically saved.
Does anything similar exist in Acrobat Pro?
    Thanks.

thank you for answer . You mean create two scheduled task with wbadmin or powershell ? Create Backup once ? With this is still full backup , or incremental ? And can I create automatic backup ?

  • How to set automatic backup in XE 10.x.x.

Hi there, i have installed Oracle XE in Windows XP and Windows 2003 server. Is there any option to set incremental backup as daily basis and it has to move specified drive at scheduled time.

    Hi,
To schedule automatic backups, use any operating system or third party task scheduling software to run the supplied backup script for your platform.

  • Manual Backup for MacBook Pro

I'm a little confused. I've been reading all the comments that suggest one should leave the Time Machine on automatic backup all the time, and that manual backup defeats the purpose. But what if I have to carry my MacBook around all day, and only manually back it up on the desktop hard drive in the evening when I get home? What do people normally do with their portable MacBook?

If you are a +mobile me+ member, you get backup, which lets you choose exactly what to back up (normally that'd be your ilife, including precious itunes library etc) and when and how often.
MobileMe only gives you 20 GB, and you have to share that between e-mail and your iDisk (which is where the backups are stored). For people with large media libraries, this is not enough backup space and backups are too slow. However, if your data fits in that volume, this would give you the ability to back up from anywhere... though, Backup is not remotely a background process that you can almost forget about, like Time Machine is. It's intrusive.
And you need a separate (or separately partitioned) drive for it.
Honestly, if you're not doing online backups, this is the way you should be backing up. You should have a dedicated backup drive that is used for nothing else. Actually, you should have a minimum of two if that's your only backup. Using a hard drive is probably the cheapest per-byte storage and lets you store a lot of data in one place.
Of course, TM is very useful but if you do "good housekeeping" \[...], then your Mac should give you years of joy.
If you're implying that backups are not necessary if you take good care of your machine, that is very poor advice indeed! You never know when something unexpected might happen - like a hardware failure of your hard drive. Unless you don't care about your data, you must back up. If you don't, it's only a matter of time before you do lose data.

  • ISDN backup for ADSL connected sites using separate router

In our set-up we have a central site with a large number of remote sites connected.
We have moved a number of remote sites from ISDN connections to ADSL connections. However, we would like to keep the ISDN and use it for backup.
The problem I have is - how do I implement ISDN backup with our current set-up? From the documentation, I can see how to do this for more "straightforward" set-ups but not for the set-up we have! Let me explain:
At the central site, we have a Cisco 7206 router. The ISDN connected sites connect directly to this router (which is configured with a large number of dialer map statements for each site)
The 7206 connects to a PIX515E firewall. The ADSL connected sites connect over the public internet using IPSEC with the tunnels terminating on the PIX.
The 7206 router contains static routes for the ADSL connected sites, pointing to the firewall.
At the remote sites, we have a Cisco 837 router for the ADSL connection.
This is connected (via ethernet) to the router we want to use for ISDN backup - a Cisco 800. The 837 and 800 are configured with HSRP.
However, at the moment, if the 837 or the ADSL link was to go down, there would be no means to connect to the central site. How can we configure this to use the 2nd router for ISDN backup, given our set-up?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
(incidentally, I have only recently joined this company and have taken this over, without any information to go on as to why things are set up as they are !)

    Hello again,
I think you can pretty much ignore my last message. I've done a bit more digging and I think I have a better idea of what you mean now!
Lets see if I've got this about right. To recap:
I need to set up a GRE tunnel between the remote site and 7206 router at head office, which in turn would be using IPSEC tunnel between remote router and PIX.
    So, steps required:
    1) set up IPSec tunnel to to PIX (this is the way it is already currenly configured - am I right in thinking no further configuration would be required as far as the PIX is concerned, for the new set-up?)
    2) set up GRE tunnel between remote ADSL router and 7206 - requires tunnel interface on both router with start point and end point configured. Use GRE keepalive to enable the line protocol to be brought down if the far end cannot be reached.
    3) Add static routes on ADSL router to reach head office network via tunnel interface
    4) Add static route on 7206 router to reach remote network via tunnel interface
    5) Configure ISDN map statement on 7206 mapping remote network to ISDN number
    6) Configure "floating" static routes on 7206 to use ISDN to reach remote network
    7) Configure HSRP on ADSL and ISDN routers with tracking of tunnel interface. If tunnel interface goes down, then ISDN router takes over as active.
    8) Configure static routes on ISDN router to point to head office network using BRI0 interface.
So, under normal operation, traffic between head office and remote office will be routed across the GRE tunnel using the ADSL link.
If the ADSL link was to go down then the GRE tunnel would also go down. So, the 7206 would then use the floating static routes to reach the remote network via the ISDN connection.
The ISDN router would take over as active at the remote site since the tunnel interface would have gone down, forcing the HSRP to failover.
Does that all sound about right? Is there anything I've missed?
I'll start trying to put some configurations together when I get the chance - but, if its ok, I'll probably run these past you too, just to make sure they seem correct!
    Thanks,
    Neil
