Automated backups does not start

I have upgraded both my Iphone 3gs and my Ipad 1 to IOS 5.
Everything seems to work ok - However having enabled backup to Icloud I would expect that my devices would once a day be automaticly backed up to the cloud.
I have now watched both devices for some days, and none of the performs automated backups.
I have succeded in performing a manual back-up to Icloud of both the devices - even as the process took quite a while.
I place them both in the net adapter and both devices are connected to my wifi-network.
If someone please can tell me if I do anything wrong or help me to a way to get the automated backup to work I would really appreciate it.
When is the automated backup perfomed? Is the bacup incremental or is it a full backup?
Thank you in advance
Henrik

  • Automated Backup Does Not Seem to be Working

I tried to set up an automated backup on an Azure Web App. It's on the Standard Plan. It allowed me to configure it and after I did so I got a notification saying it was set up. And I see now that it has a status of "Created". But it does not seem
to have moved any further -- and it has been about 15 minutes.
I did successfully get a manual backup of the site to work last night with the same configuration.
Any ideas as to what I may be doing wrong?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
I would request you to check under backup options, scheduled backup is on.
And also please make sure that the Backup and Restore feature requires an Azure storage account and container that must belong to the same subscription as the web app that you are going to back up.
Do check this and let us know so that we can investigate further.

  • Windows Server Backup scheduled task run successfully but backup do not start (not running) on Windows Server 2012

    Hi,
A backup job has been setup on Windows Server 2012 (Platform: Win32NT; ServicePack: ; Version: 6.2.9200.0; VersionString : Microsoft Windows NT 6.2.9200.0) via Windows Backup Software UI (Local Backup 1.0).
It is appearing as a scheduled task "\Microsoft\Windows\Backup\Microsoft-Windows-WindowsBackup" belonging to user 'nt authority\system' in task scheduler.
The problem is that the Backup job never start despite the scheduled task running and completing successfully (when run automatically or manually)!
Would you be able to explain why and assist in resolving that issue?
    Here is what we know:
When the backup is run manually via the Windows Backup Software UI, it works fine.
When the backup is run via command line (as set in schedule task) in a cmd command prompt (as local/domain 'administrator' or as 'nt authority\system' which is possible by running command prompt via 'PsExec.exe -i -s cmd'), something like "%windir%\System32\wbadmin.exe
start backup -templateId:{f11eb3aa-74e7-4ff4-a57b-d8d567ee3f77} -quiet", it works fine.
If you manually run the preset scheduled task while logged in as administrator, the task run and complete successfully but the backup job does not start.
Idem if you schedule task is run automatically at scheduled time.
The schedule task run and complete successfully but the backup job does not start.
It is confirmed by running the following in a command prompt as 'nt authority\system':
    schtasks /run /tn "\Microsoft\Windows\Backup\Microsoft-Windows-WindowsBackup"
SUCCESS: Attempted to run the scheduled task "\Microsoft\Windows\Backup\Microsoft-Windows-WindowsBackup".
Despite success result, the Backup job does not start running...
No errors or warning appears anywhere in Event Logs (Microsoft > Windows > Backup or Task Scheduler) nor in the scheduled task History tab. The schedule task complete successfully but no Backup job is run...
If scheduled task automatically set by Windows Backup software is duplicated (copied) and set manually it runs fine as 'administrator' and as 'nt authority\system' (subject that 'nt authority\system' is added to the 'Backup Operators' AD group).
Here is an export of the current pre-set schedule task, is there any settings that need to be changed to make it works?

Thank you in advance for your feedback.

Once again, the issue is not to run the backup manually from the command line but to have it run via the scheduled task setup by the Windows Backup software.
By default, the schedule task is to be run as NT Authority\System, and when run under this account, the backup does not start (even though account is member of Backup Operators) and job can manually be run via elevated command prompt. This is not a normal
behavior and constitute a major bug in Windows Server 2012.
From my understanding the NT Authority\System account is a built-in account from Windows that should by default be part of the Administrators group (built-in) even though it does not explicitly appears like it in AD by default.
This account shall have by default Administrators rights and Backup Operators rights (via the Administrators group) without being explicitly added to those groups (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/windows/desktop/ms684190%28v=vs.85%29.aspx). By design
it is supposed to be the most powerful account which has unrestricted access to all local system resources. If that is not the case (as it seems) then this would constitute a major bug in Windows Server 2012 edition.
As said previously and as you confirmed, currently by default NT Authority\System on Windows 2012 server cannot start backup manually via an elevated command prompt unless it is manually added to Backup Operators (or Administrators) group. But wouldn't that
constitute a bug of Windows Server 2012?
Our server has not yet been restarted since I added NT Authority\System account to the Administrators group explicitly manually so I cannot yet confirmed it would sort the issue. Indeed it is heavily in use so cannot easily be restarted. Will confirm when
    done.
We also have an additional problem where after a while of last reboot, part of the Exchange ECP can no longer be properly loaded in the web browser due to compilation error (compilation is done via NT Authority\System account which seems to no longer have
sufficient right to compile .NET code). What is strange is that it works at first and then stop working at some point... I am hopeful that adding NT Authority\System to the Administrators group would sort this issue as well but once again, that shall not be
    needed!!!
Could a Windows Server 2012 update introduced some security policy changes or else that prevent NT Authority\System to have full power?

  • Server Does not start after backup complition

    Dear All,
We are facing following problem some times after backup completion.
    Our Setup is : SAP ECC 6, Oracle 10g, HP-UX 11.31.
We are scheduling the whole database offline + archive log backup during night.
After completion of backup the SAP does not start. I have checked the following things.
    1. Database is started : OK.
    2. SAP related services at O/S level : OK
    3. Listener is OK
    4. No startup log generated related to SAP
But I am not able to connect to SAP thru SAP GUI.
If I tried to start SAP using startsap it will not respond for long time. Even I have tried to startsap after shutting down database, kill all SAP related services at O/S level. But startsap doesn't respond.
When I restart the server, after that I am able to start SAP.
Is there any memory fragmentation related problem ?
Before some time same thing is happened with our production server, but at that time I have deleted Archivelog files manually before tacking backup. In this case if I take backup "whole database offline + archive log " then server doesn't start. At that time also I have to restart the server. So the Problem is identified.
But in this case i.e on our Quality Server not able to trace out problem.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Nirav

    Hi,
Yes the problem is related to memory. I think during the backup  memory is allocated but not release after completion of database backup.
in case of archive log backup what option your are using means are you using save and delete option  or other.
In the case of the production server archive log backup you to use to the option  save and delete.
Please also check wheather core file getting gernerated should be deleted frquently from work folder.
    Thanks & Regards,

Thanks you all for quick response.
Backup log is pasted at end of message. Wile you please guide me where dev_disp log is located.
I am taking backup through DB13.
When I got this problem. Database was not started. But at O/S level SMON is running. Shutdown normal or transactional was not working. I have to shutdown abort. and start the database.
SAP services are also running at O/S level.
I have doubt about work process.

  • What can I do when  in Photoshop Elements (version 11) the organizer does not start up??

    !@@

Yes, thanks a lot. I understand now.
I now am able to open the old catalog again!! I tried now several times with the new shortcut.
Thank you very much indeed for ALL YOUR EFFORT and patients with me.
You suggest now I should click on the repair button. When I do so, the catalog will be overwritten, or I can choose not to overwrite and than the catalog will be twice as big. So I decided not to click on the repair button. When I see afterwards that some functions do not work anymore, I allways can use the repair button. As far as I can see now nothing is lost.. )
As far as I understood it is only possible to repair with a backup. Happily I made that allways, but I am afraid to use it, for the reason above.
When I have more time to spare, I will look for all the foto's from the apps of my cellphone and delete them.
Now I can finish my fotowork, what I had started before, and make Photoshop Elements again the main fotoprogram on my desktop.
    Thank you again! Trees

  • Torch 9860 does not starts

    help!
my blackberry Torch 9860 does not starts, and the red led blinking a slow time and 3 times faster
I removed the battery and waited, when i put the battery back, nothing happens
I installed the blackberry desktop, but it does not recognize the phone, not from any sign that is connected
I tested with another blackberry and connected everything right, the problem is not the cable or pc
when I connect it via USB the red LED blinks 1 time 3 times fast and slow
when I try to start it nothing happens

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain a known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem.
Good luck and let us know!

My UPAD lite does not start after recent update. I have lots of info in it. Can anybody help me to get it back? Can I somehow undo the update? Thanks

    "UPAD lite?"
I expect that you mean some version of iPad.
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • Certificate authority does not start on migrated 2012R2 server

I have migrated the root CA from windows 2003 to 2012R2 according to TechNet instructions
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee126140(v=ws.10).aspx
    The service does not start.
    The error shown is:
The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion. 0x433 (WIN32: 1075 ERROR_SERVICE_DEPENDENCY_DELETED)
    In the event log:
The Certificate Services service depends on the following service ProtectedStorage. This service might not be installed.
    Thanks,
    James.
    James.

    Hi Mark,
Thanks for helping me out here.
The CA is enterprise, has the same name and there is no hardware module. It is not on a Domain Controller. Its history is that it was a Windows 2000 CA that was upgraded to 2003 using a similar method (many years ago). There has been no customisations
or any changes from the default values.
I think I found the mistake I made. When I had edited the registry settings backup file, I had only changed file locations. I needed to also go through all the settings and delete those from the file that are not listed on the document. There was one setting
about dependent services that should not have been brought over to the new service. After I did this, the service started ok.
I also found I made another mistake, that I had not backed up the certificate templates from the old server and so could not restore them to the new server. When I go to the CA manager and click on Certificate Templates, it shows an error "Template
    information could not be loaded".
Do you know if this is important?
Do I need to get the old templates or can I create new ones? We have not customised anything. I did not connect the new CA to the network yet, so it can not access AD.
That step is in another document for "preparing to migrate". Of course I googled straight into the "Migrating.." document, so missed it from my work list.
    Regards,
    James.
    James.

  • My iMac does not start.

My iMac does not start. When I turn it on, it stays loading in the half and doesn't continue. Some days before I had updated my iMac to Yosemite 10.10. Everything was ok but yesterday I decided tu reboot it and when it was turning on this happened, it kept stuck at the middle of the bar. I have the latest model of MacBook Air '13.

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
To restart an unresponsive computer, press and hold the power button for a few seconds until the power shuts off, then release, wait a few more seconds, and press it again briefly.
    Step 1
The first step in dealing with a startup failure is to secure the data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since the last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to start. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
    a. Start up from the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.” The article refers to starting up from a DVD, but the procedure in Recovery mode is the same. You don't need a DVD if you're running OS X 10.7 or later.
    b. If Step 1a fails because of disk errors, and no other Mac is available, then you may be able to salvage some of your files by copying them in the Finder. If you already have an external drive with OS X installed, start up from it. Otherwise, if you have Internet access, follow the instructions on this page to prepare the external drive and install OS X on it. You'll use the Recovery installer, rather than downloading it from the App Store.
    c. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, start the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    d. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
    Step 2
If the startup process stops at a blank gray screen with no Apple logo or spinning "daisy wheel," then the startup volume may be full. If you had previously seen warnings of low disk space, this is almost certainly the case. You might be able to start up in safe mode even though you can't start up normally. Otherwise, start up from an external drive, or else use the technique in Step 1b, 1c, or 1d to mount the internal drive and delete some files. According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation.
    Step 3
Sometimes a startup failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
    Step 4
If a desktop Mac hangs at a plain gray screen with a movable cursor, the keyboard may not be recognized. Press and hold the button on the side of an Apple wireless keyboard to make it discoverable. If need be, replace or recharge the batteries. If you're using a USB keyboard connected to a hub, connect it to a built-in port.
    Step 5
If there's a built-in optical drive, a disc may be stuck in it. Follow these instructions to eject it.
    Step 6
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to start up, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can start up now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
    Step 7
If you've started from an external storage device, make sure that the internal startup volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
Start up in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know the login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you start up in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, the startup volume is corrupt and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to Step 11. If you ever have another problem with the drive, replace it immediately.
If you can start and log in in safe mode, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then restart as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the startup process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
    Step 8
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select the startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then restart as usual.
    Step 9
If the startup device is an aftermarket SSD, it may need a firmware update and/or a forced "garbage collection." Instructions for doing this with a Crucial-branded SSD were posted here. Some of those instructions may apply to other brands of SSD, but you should check with the vendor's tech support.
    Step 10
Reinstall the OS. If the Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
    Step 11
Do as in Step 9, but this time erase the startup volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically restart into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer the data from a Time Machine or other backup.
    Step 12
This step applies only to models that have a logic-board ("PRAM") battery: all Mac Pro's and some others (not current models.) Both desktop and portable Macs used to have such a battery. The logic-board battery, if there is one, is separate from the main battery of a portable. A dead logic-board battery can cause a startup failure. Typically the failure will be preceded by loss of the settings for the startup disk and system clock. See the user manual for replacement instructions. You may have to take the machine to a service provider to have the battery replaced.
    Step 13
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.

  • Computer does not start up when connected to My Book 4TB

When I connect MY Book (4TB) to my computer before turning it on, my computer does not start up.  I only get a black screen.  If I disconnect the My Book and then first start up my computer, I am able to plug in My Book and read all the files, backup, etc.  Why won't the computer start when My Book is connected???

??? Wrong Forum? This is for "My Book Live" vs "My Book"... How to tell? Easy, MBL (NAS) does not have USB, MB (USB HD) does...

  • IPhoto does not start up after upgrading

On my new iMac iPhoto does not start up after migrating. Upgrade from iPhoto 6/Snow Leopard > Lion 10.7.1 with iPhoto 9.1.5. When the conversion is finished I can see the new library, it works allright. And with packet-inspection (or how is that called in English) all maps & data seems to be OK; I can check the seperate pics.
But: iPhoto won't start up a second time (grey screen with infinite spinning wait cursor). The same thing is happening when I add a new library and drop in some pictures.
    What can cause this problem?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
    Regards
    TD

    Hi, Markus
Reading these replies I have seen that we have a similar error.
The version of Maxdb is 7.5.00.52, O.S is 2003 32bit with 4GB physical memory. The database space is approximately 4 TB.
Recently the backup on disk and the backup with external storage fails with the following error:

  • 10.6 does not start up

    Hello,
my Mac-Mini (Snow Leopard) does not start up properly. By following some hints in an other forum I tried to get rid of an old Norton installation. I moved the mentioned files in the trash. After restarting it booted until the blue screen appears.
There is no reaction to the 10.6. install disc or any keyboard command (like ⌘T, ⌘S, ⌘D or any other)
It is now for one week at my local dealer but they hadn't time to check for it.
    So, any suggestions here?
    Thanks in advance....

install disc or any keyboard command (like ⌘T, ⌘S, ⌘D or any other)
Only the 'S' key needs a modifier key with the Apple (also known as Command) key at startup, with an Apple keyboard, arget Disk Mode, hardware test, and Option key for Startup Manager do not need a command key.
It is now for one week at my local dealer but they hadn't time to check for it.
Ask for it back from the dealer, and make sure you check for the following.
    1. Does it have 2, 4, or 5 USB ports on rear?
distinguishes between Firewire, USB, and ethernet.
If it has only 2 USB ports on the rear, it can't run Snow Leopard, and can only run Leopard.
    2. If it has 4 or 5 USB ports, check the serial number:
less than xx935xxxx can use Snow Leopard retail which looks like * and does not say Upgrade, DropIn, or OEM.
xx936xxxx and later can only use the Mac Mini Snow Leopard installer disc that shipped with it. Do not state the full serial number to us here in Discussions, as we are only end users, and this board is searchable. The three digits enumerated above are the only ones of any consequence for determining the age of the Mac. x can mean any value.
    3. If the startup manager does not work with the correct disc above, you have a hardware issue.
    4. If the hardware test runs but detects no issue with the Mac, but the instalelr won't run for 10.6 with the correct disc, you have possibly a RAM issue.
    5. If the installer is able show its installation screen to start an installation, you may have damage to the hard drive's directory, and have to either first recover your backup, if you have one that is bootable, or attempt a data recovery as done here*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html#RECOVER
    6. Once you are recovered, or know you are backed up, check the directory*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/directoryfaq.html
If the directory is fine, and it won't boot, attempt a data recovery to an erase and installed system only if you have at least two backups.
If you can't fix the directory, you may need to replace your hard drive.

  • SAP MMC does not start and red in color

    Hi Gurus,
We are in a process of installing EhP4 and there were lots of errors. We reverted back to old version.
After moving back to old state i.e., EhP3, system does not start.
    1. SAPosCol does not start acutomatically in the service
    2. sapmmc does not show database details
    3. When I try to start the server through SAPMMC, all esmart03 0, esmart03 1 turns to red.
Please let me know how i can fix this problem.
I want to post screen shot, but i am not sure how i can post the same here.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Shreeshail

    Thanks Sunny for your reply.
We had taken system system backup (complete "E" drive) where SAP server is installed. I had to stop EhP4 process as we got a requirement to bringup NWBC.
We restored the "E" drive content and then restarted the SAP server.
After that servies did not start and MMC does not show up Database details.
Do i need to create services and MMC to fix the issues??
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Shreeshail
