Automated filling of user description

Hello,
I would like to know if there is a solution to fill the description field in user profile in an automated way ?
I mean, I have more than 2000 users in the CMC mapped from the LDAP and without their description it is hard to sort them, so I need to describe them all.
Perhaps is it possible for example, to do this by reading an Excel file and updating the user accounts through the SDK ?

Sorry, I have a different perspective from you (I don't work with the Java API). So, you can ignore what I said about the protocols. That's lower-level than what you would care about.
The correct thing to do is to use the Admin API to get the users, as you are doing. If you have to log in twice, it might be because you're using the old Java API.
Please verify that you're using these packages:
mdm-core.jar, mdm-common.jar, mdm-protocol.jar, mdm-data.jar, mdm-admin.jar
versus the old API, which was called mdm4.jar.

Retrieve the User Description from WLS

Hi
When I created my user accounts for an application, I typed in the full name in the User Description field for each user.
Now, I want to retrieve this User Description for the logged on user and then display it at a jsp.
How do I get this information ?

Hi All,
I need the table names in which user-id details are stored like for example: user-name, user description, etc.
Please tell me the table names in which I will be able to find the user details based on user-id.

EasyDMS - Uploading file does not fill in file description

Hi,
We have been having this issue for a while and are on the latest version of EasyDMS. When we upload a file into DMS, the file description is not filled out.
The way we got around it initially was to create an event in swetypv of DRAW CHANGED and set the description with a bapi call. We decided that is not a good way to do it now. What other options are there? Is there a user exit where we can set it?

Given the very recent release of Photoshop CS5, graphics card developers are all scrambling to make the features Photoshop relies upon actually work. There are new updates daily or weekly for many of them.
Check with ATI directly. Don't assume the latest Photoshop-compatible driver has been uploaded to the Windows site. What version are you running? Unfortunately you're going to need to get into this in more detail.
For now, as a workaround, try disabling the OpenGL settings in the Edit - Preferences Performance menu. Does that fix the problem?
Edit: I just looked over on the ATI site... I don't see the video interface you have listed in any of the lists. Is it old? If so, this is another reason to try disabling OpenGL.

I use a program called RoboForm2Go that will fill in user names and passwords for me when I open a site and now that option is not available in the taskbar at the top. How can I use that feature again?

I save the RoboForm2Go program on a flash drive and when I opened a site that I had saved the user name and password, the RoboForm2Go would show up in the taskbar with the site I opened so I could just click on it and it would automatically fill in the info for me.

Under View>/toolbars, I don't have an option to choose RoboForm Toolbar. When I initially set up the program, I was using Internet Explorer and I can go to the taskbar at the bottom and choose RoboForm but then whatever site I was opening in Firefox will now open in Internet Explorer instead of Firefox. The old version of Firefox would display the RoboForm toolbar at the top.

Cannot sign in to Skype on Desktop after upgrade - cannot fill in user id and password boxes

My Skype forced me to upgrade right before a phone call today (7/12/2015) (why can't you let me go about my business first and upgrade later?). After the upgrade, Skype failed to aunch, and I received the blank screen at login. I terminated the processes, rebooted, and restarted Skype. I get the login screen, and my user ID is in the pre-filled area, but I cannot change that or type in the user ID box,, and I cannot type in the password box. I also did a system restore to a few days ago, and the same thing is ahppening. I am running the latest Skype (the help dialog works from the login screeen and confrms this)and Windows 7. What should I do?

How can I fill out the description column of my bookmarks?

I am new to Firefox. In the Organize Bookmarks window, I have added a column for description, but how do I fill it out?

Click on the bookmark you'd like to add a description for. At the very bottom of the screen - where you edit the name, URL, tags - is a drop-down arrow that says "more". Click on the arrow to open up the text boxes for those other fields.

BPM Automated Activity: Technical User vs Named User

Hi Folks,
I've implemented a number of working BPM prototypes and now our customers are so interested they want us to implement a number of productive solutions for different process scenarios. Technically we all know that for the automated activity we can either use a logical destination or a service group which in both cases will mean a number of alternatives for authentication to the backend to execute the service operation in the automated activity. In our scenarios so far we have tested both approaches i.e. Service Group and Logical destination using a technical user for both cases (For SG, technical user in the physical system assigned to the SG)
My question is are you using a technical user to authenticate to the backend in either case or are you forwarding credentials of a named user involved in the specific process instance to be authenticated to the backend and in case of the latter how do you achieve this (apart from ensuring this user also exists in the backend)? The dilemma is if (by SAP agreement) we can use a technical user then what (apart from our ethics) stops us from only getting BPM licences and using a technical user(s) for most of our data maintenance transactions and by extension what prevents the same approach being used via non-SAP BPM tools (such as AquaLogic). I know there may be different arrangements specific to an organisation's license agreement and relationship with SAP but what is the general approach out there

Powershell Copy User Description from one Domain to another in one Forest

Hi.
I would like to copy the Description field from one domain to another domain in the same forest.
First I would like to get the following data from source domain
- SamAccountName
- Description
- Office
- Job Title
- Department
- Manager
I would like to get these informations to a txt-file. That I can manage myself, I think.
These values shoud then be set on the destination domain - and here my powershell skills are not suffecient. How do I add these values from txt-file to existing users? (if some users aren't there, the script should continue)....
I can Get-AdUser -Identity xxx -Server sourcedomain and Get-AdUser -Identity xxx -Server destinationdomain from the same powershell windows.

Hi. Thank you very much for helping me out. I tried the above script and added in additional properties.
When I run the script, I only get one line in my csv-file, the Office-field is empty and all items appear on screen instead of output to file.
The script looks as follows:

Set User Description by external ldap authenticator

I used a customized iplanet Authentication Providers to authenticate the user.
After the system is started and I goes to "Security Realms > myrealm > Users and Groups -> Users", I am able to see a list of user from Ldap server. Name field is username. But description is empty. How could I populate description field by field in External Ldap server?

Can I use "~" in Automator instead of user's home folder?

I want to create an Automator action that I send to someone that can put a file in their iTunes Folder. If I create it on my computer however, Automator uses the actual file path to MY iTunes Library.
Is there a way to use the "~/Music/iTunes/" to have Automator use a relative link to THEIR home folder?

Use ~username/Music/iTunes
Be aware that you will have to change the permissions on ~username's Music and iTunes folders to allow you read and write access. All users be default have read only access to other users' iTunes folder and no access at all to the Music folder.

Show User Description in BI Analytics

Hi, We have recently upgraded to BI 11.1.1.6.6. I have exported-imported the users from Weblogic 10g to 11g.
When the users login to BI Analytics, on top-right corner they are seeing their username and not the description (or full name). Any ideas on how to get the display name from the Description filed in Weblogic User Setup.

Go to the Attributes tab in the Settings for the user and put the full name in the displayname field.

May IMac is auto filling my user name wrong

Verify your name is spelled correctly.
In Safari, open Preferences (hit Command-Comma to bring up the Safari Preferences window)

Extended IDOC DEBMAS06 (MSG-Type DEBMAS) can't be filled using user EXIT

Hi,
I'm having a problem trying to fill an additional created segment (extension) for the IDOC DEBMAS06.
This IDOC is generatede from an ALE szenarion
and I need additional fields to fill using my extension.
With CMOD I created a new project using the enhancement VSV00001 (User exit Customer and vendor distribution Receipt/issue) to fill the additional field but, no way.
My extension segment will not appear onto this user exit.
I tried to search new exits, tried to make additional settind using ALE customizing but again now way, this onw extended segment will not come up in the user exit.
Please Help !

What do you mean by "My extension segment will not appear onto this user exit."? It will not be there, you will have to fill it and append it to the EDIDD table. In thh user exit, you will append the records for segment zzzzz(your extended segment) at the appropriate place.
Say the standard IDOC has the structure like below
A
--B
--C
D
and you added extended segment at the same level as B and C. In that case, you have to append the new segment records at the end.
If you added your segment as a child segment of B, then you will have to insert the records into the EDIDD table before the C segment.
