Automated photo naming in the iOS 4 and iPhone OS 3.1.3

The photo naming for iPhone OS 3.1.3 shown on a computer is numbered more smartly. for instance, when i take photos on my iPhone, I look at it in the windows explorer in my WinVista and it shows IMG_0001 then the next photo is IMG_0002, and so on. When i take those photos out of the iphone, sync it, then take more photos. The photo naming continues as IMG_0003 then IMG_0004 and so on. The photo naming in the iOS 4 will do everthing that i said for the iPhone OS 3.1.3 but the numbers restart after clearing all the photos.
Is apple going to update the photo naming to not restart after each clear and sync?

Yep, I've just noticed this fail too - most annoying. I had hoped it had been a one time reset of the index after the upgrade, but now I see it's happening every time I offload the pictures. I guess a workaround of sorts will be to leave the last image on the phone each time and store new pictures in a different folder from those taken with the previous OS. I can't find a way to manipulate the filename in the camera roll and I don't think I can be bothered to take & delete 300 or so blank images to get the index back to the correct value.

Sorry to hear that, but this forum is for us, users, and what you need is someone from Xperia Care to find your motherboard and send it back, I don't think it'll be possible to retrieve any data from a broken motherboard.

The next morning it was working fine, but the ios 6 didn't download. I looked at it later and it had the turning on screen with the loading bar under it. It stayed like that for a while and the bar didn't move. I needed to use my phone so I tried to make it go to the home screen, but nothing happened. I held down the lock and home button for a few seconds and everything went black. I tried to turn it back on and all it has done all day is stayed on the turning on screen. I tried plugging it into the wall, and nothing happened. I tried connecting it to iTunes, and nothing happened. I don't know what I need to do to get it to work.

What OS X system are you running are your computer now? Or is this a Windows machine?

How come although iPads are getting more powerful, the iOS apps from apple are so mediocre and just not that great? We spend all this money for the latest ipad and all we get is these $5 video and music apps from apple. Why create the iOS platform and only offer so so apps like IMovie and GarageBand ? While other developers are offering much better apps like pinnacle studio for video, Cubasis and Auria for music production, apple has not showed much growth in terms of innovation. While there's nothing wrong with making an app like GarageBand where "anyone " can make a song, how about something for real musicians or an app not so basic as it get for video editing? After spending 0ver $700 on an ipad I'd be willing to spend more than $5 for a better video or audio app.

First, try a system reset although I can't give you any confidence. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

If you JUST updated, you may need to leave the phone connected and give it time as it is still syncing even though you are able to use your phone. That is part of the new OS, the ability to use your phone while it is processing in the background. If that's not the issue, try what the previous reply suggested. That's what worked for me when my music appeared to be in my iPod, but would not play.

I used to give my photo's keywords. Most of the time I have several photo's for the same keyword and it was possible to select all those photo's and give them the keyword in one move. Since of few weeks I can't do that anymore and I find it very annoying.

Check, if you have the "Primary Only" option enabled. Then keywords will only be applied to the "Primary Image":
See: Keywords or ratings are applied only to one of the selected images - why?
Uncheck the little square button with the "1".

If you gave some sensible, complete and detailed information, someone may be able to help you, such as your platform (Mac or Win), exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop and of Bridge, machine specs, what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far, etc.

Welcome to the Support Communities! If you are having issues trying to update your Aunt's iPad, the troubleshooting steps below may help:
Resolve issues with an over-the-air iOS update - Apple Support
Update does not complete
If you're installing the update and the progress bar appears to move slowly, be patient. The time an update takes depends on the size of the update and the number of files on the device.
When you're updating over the air, keep your device connected to a power source so that it doesn't run out of power. If your device does run out of power, connect it to a power source and turn on the device to let the update or restore complete.
If the update never completes and the progress bar hasn't moved for an extended time, try restarting your device. If you still see the issue after you restart, see what to do if your device appears frozen or won't start.
