Automatic antivirus install in NAC

can i make requirement to automatically install the antivirus software on the client machine , if the machine doesn't have antivirus installed ?
and if tis will need the user to have admin privilege or not ?

Hany,
You can't make NAC install programs. If there's a need for program installation, it would depend on the program whether it needs admin rights. Most AVs I would assume would need it.

I have a MacBook Pro mid 2009 version.Have got no Antivirus installed so far all these years and its been fine till this moment.
Just to satisfy my curiosity,would i require to install one,to be on the safe side or doing so would that slow do my system,like browsing and my operations?.

Firstly thank you so much for your reply.
As stated in my query earlier,i do not have or feel any specific issue is ongoing right now with my Mac pro,but at times i feel a sort of slowness in my Firefox browser opening up and at various times,have the beach ball popping up after a command is given and takes a while to set in.
All these sometimes make me think,if i am getting into trouble,and hence thought should i install a Antivirus?.
Ok,is there anyway i can check if my Mac pro is free of any Viruses or Malware or any sort of these things?.

ITunes 6 won't open - automatic update install problem???

I have tried to install iTunes for the first time using the latest version and when I try to open it nothing happens. I have XP and I believe the automatic update install shield is blocking the installation of the program?? I do not have norton anti-virus and I have turned off the automatic update install in the control panel.

off in that other post, you described seeing a little yellow shield in your task bar. is that a Norton live update notification, or a Windows update notification? (i've seen it in my task bar too, but i can't recall off-hand which one of those it's signifying.)

Is it possible to 'automatically' select /install only 4 components : Directory Server, Administration Server, Web Server and Access Manager?
Automatic configuration is very good.
Maybe instead of MAINJES=YES we can pass other options.
Or maybe it is possible to have a config file ...
What we try is to have a 'faster' installation and configuration of JES, with less clicks from the user.

You can automate your specific scenario using the 'silent install' mode

Basically you want to run the installer in a 'record' mode and select
the config options and products that you care about. In your case, you would choose, 'Custom -> Configure Automatically -> select the subset of products' you want. once you are done, the response file will be created which you can (edit if needed) use for subsequent installs

It should do a decent job of recommending available driver updates for your system. If it doesn't catch a few things, you should be able to find them in the master list linked above. One thing that I do not let TVSU do is BIOS updates. When I decide to do those, I do them completely separately as a single task.

Automate Adobe Install

I am trying to automate the install of Adobe Reaser X.
I have downloaded the Customization Tool, but it requires and msi file. I can only find the exe file. Can anybody point me to a link.
If somebody knows how to automate the install with the exe that will be fine as well.

After much searching I found the answer.

We're using Citrix Webinterface 4.0 with Citrix Java Client for remote access users (working at home). This works fine with Java 1.4.2_10. It does NOT work with MS Java VM or Java 1.5.x. So we need to ensure employees have Java 1.4.2_10 installed at their home pc's. We do not have administrative control over these pc's. Therefore we need to push the Java 1.4.2_10 software from the same webpage as their Citrix Webinterface login.
QUESTION: I would like to create a hyperlink on the Webinterface login page where users can click to FULLY AUTOMATICALLY download and SILENTLY install the Java 1.4.2_10 software (and NOT the Java 1.5.x which is (non-silently) available at http://www.java.com/nl/download/ie_auto.jsp !!!!!)
How can this be accomplished?

i haven't done it, but you could just include the version of the JRE you want the user to use with your software

Officejet 7310xi does not print two-sided automatically after installing Windows 8.1

When I first purchased my Officejet 7310xi and installed it on my Windows XP desktop PC it worked fine printing two-sided documents automatically. I recently purchased a new desktop PC with Windows 8 and upgraded it to Windows 8.1 and downloaded and installed the Officejet software drivers from the HP download site. But now the printer will not print two-sided documents AUTOMATICALLY -- when this option is selected, I get a pop-up screen telling me to remove the documents from the out tray, turn them around, and reinsert them in the feed bin, i.e., it acts as if I requested two-sided MANUAL printing.

Hi,
Make sure the Automatic Duplexing option is enabled:
Enter Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
Right click the printer icon, then click Printer Properties.
Click the Device Settings tab.
Set the Automatic Two-Sided Duplex Accessory as installed and click OK to save the change.
Now Automatic Duplexing should become available.

Automatic Antivirus Remediation in Posture

Hi All,
I have configured ISE (1.2) to check Antivirus Installation on endpoints and it is working flawlessly.
Now, the client wants,
1) If Antivirus is not updated on endpoint for more than 5 days; it should be considered as "non-compliant" and as a remediation action; updates should be downloaded automatically.
--> I configured AV Remediation action.
Now, the problem is when endpoint gets categorized as non-compliant, ideally AV updates should get downloaded on endpoint as a remediation action. But AV updates are not getting downloaded.
Please help me in solving this problem..

Adding an Antivirus Remediation
You can create an antivirus remediation, which updates clients with up-to-date file definitions for compliance after remediation.
The AV Remediations page displays all the antivirus remediations along with their name and description and their modes of remediation.
Step 1 Choose Policy > Policy Elements > Results > Posture.
Step 2 Click Remediation Actions.
Step 3 Click AV Remediation.
Step 4 Click Add.
Step 5 Modify the values in the New AV Remediation page.
Step 6 Click Submit.

To install firefox 5.0, message says avast1web rep20110101 will be disabled. What does this mean? Will it disable the avast antivirus installed on my computer?

What more can I tell you? Firefox recommends 5.0 be installed. When I try to do so, I get a message that says some addons are not compatible. specifically avast web rep 20110101. I have no idea what avast web rep 20110101 is and am concerned that it refers to the avast antivirus protection installed on my computer. I need to know if that is what the message means & that if I install 5.0, I will disable the antivirus protection.

Does this mean that Avast will continue to scan for viruses and protect my computer from harmful or malicious internet diseases?

Wow! Thanks for the quick response! We would use this cluster as a fixed data structure. No need to change the structure during runtime. The cluster would be a cluster of clusters with multiple levels. There would be not pattern as to how deep these levels would go, or how many elements would be in each. Here is the application. I would like to be able to autocode a Simulink model file into a DLL. The model DLL would accept a Simulink bus object of a certain data structure (bus of buses), pick out which elements of the bus is needed for the model calculation, and then pass the bus object. I then will take the DLL file and use the DLL VI block to pass a cluster into the DLL block (with identical structure as the bus in Simulink). To save time, I would like to auto generate the C header file using Simulink to define the bus structure and then have LabView read that header file and create the cluster automatically. Right now I can do everything but the auto creation of the cluster. I can manually build the cluster to match the Simulink model bus structure and it runs fine. But this is only for an example model with a small structure. Need to make the cluster creation automated so it can handle large structures with minimal brute force. Thanks!

Antivirus issue with NAC

i am currently using Microworld Escan antivirus corporate edition 8.0 antivirus server integrated with NAC in the network. I am planning to upgrade the antivirus server from Corporate edition 8.0 to Corporate edition 11.0. As per cisco document, Currently cisco NAC support only Escan Corporate for windows version 8.x only. which means version 11.x is not supported. I want to know,whether cisco will include support for escan corporate edition 11.x with NAC,even in future.

Automatic download/install JRE via JNLP

Under Java Web Start Reference (http://java.sun.com/products/javawebstart/developers.html)
"A MAIN feature of the ... JNLP... is the ability to automatically download and install JREs onto the user's machine".
Many have taken this to mean "if the client doesn't have the necessary JRE it will be installed". Well, if the client doesn't have ANY JRE isn't that the same thing as not having the necessary JRE installed? Apparently not. It appears that it is similar to the old joke: How to be a millionaire: 1) First, get a million dollars. The documentation might be enhanced if this chicken/egg situation were mentioned. It seems that we have to write scripts, etc to either point to a JRE download site or somehow manage the install ourselves. I started to look into this but then realized YOU HAVE TO HAVE ADMIN RIGHTS to install the JRE on the client.
This may all be self-evident to those who have been through this but it's a bitter lesson. If what I have written is not true would someone set me straight and tell me how to get around the admin rights problem? Oh, and does the admin rights problem persist if the the client has a JRE but JNLP needs to download/install a different version? This may be the mortal blow to three months' effort at getting J2EE/J2SE in the door at my company: all we want is to download and run a small Java app for the user to use regardless of which machine he or she is using.

To change the Registry, Windows requires admin rights. This may (or may not be something you can achieve with Secondary Logon Rights - see http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=225035 ) There is also a lot of information about this on the web, you should do some further research.
To run applets and browser related programs requires that Java install the JRE, which uses Browser Helper Objects (BHO's) and that involves Registry entries.
However, if you only need to run Java programs from the commandline, then the possibility exists to install the Java JDK without a public JRE. That could be done by a simple copy of the appropriate directory(s). This will give you a private JRE inside the JDK, and doesn't make any Registry entries. (Of course, then applets can't be run.) That JRE can then be accessed using a full path to the java.exe executable. (I don't know whether using Sun's downloaded installer will do this - it may still require admin privileges.)
You're in an area where you'll probably have to do some experimentation. I would address the JNLP questions to the Java Web Start forum, there are some good people that monitor that forum.

E-mail doesn't sync automatically after installing...

I'm using an e-mail address under my personal domain in my N8. Everything worked well when using Symbian Anna but now after installing Belle - there's a problem: e-mail doesn't sync automatically.
When I set my e-mail box up will the sync work for few times just fine. But then it stops working. Manual-sync works fine and there's not a single problem. I have tried to re-set the box again and again but in the end it's always the same: syncs automatically few times but then it stops working.
Any ideas what to do?

I've managed to get sync working again without a reset...
Went into Mail.
Deleted all my e-mail accounts.
Exited the Mail application.
Turned off the mobile.
Removed SIM.
Turned on the mobile.
Went into Mail.
Went into settings, confirmed there was nothing there.
Tried to add a new account, I was only offered Exchange ActiveSync.
Exited the Mail application.
Turned off the mobile.
Held power button for eight seconds (mobile vibrates 3 times and turns off).
Put the SIM in.
Turned on the mobile.
Went into Mail.
Went into settings, set up one e-mail account.
As I'm not interested in Nokia Mail and I want a direct connection, I did the following to set up the account...
Put a false address and password in because I want a direct connection to Yahoo but if I choose Yahoo then I get Nokia Mail's version.
Chose POP3/IMAP.
Rejected the terms and conditions.
Put the settings in manually.
Went back into the settings and chose a syncronisation period of 15 minutes.
Deleted the e-mail widget (I'm not interested in it).
Confirmed it was working by sending myself an e-mail from another address.
Does it work for other people?
