Automatic assets numbering

Hi,
I want to define the system controls in fixed assets (R12).
Since we want to convert assets also from 11i ( our existing system ) I need to have room for those assets number as well when defining the starting number.
As per the documents it says the following .
Enter the Starting Number at which you want Oracle Assets to begin automatically numbering your assets.
Note that some asset numbers may be skipped.
Suggestion: If you are converting from another system, enter a starting number greater than the number of assets you want to convert so converted assets keep the same number from the previous system. For example, if you are converting 75,000 assets, you may want to enter 100,000 as the Starting Number to reserve the numbers 1 to 100,000 for manual asset numbering. Note that adding the 75,000 assets will increment the automatic numbering sequence by 75,000 (automatically numbered assets will begin at 175,001).
Why does it start the automatic numbering from 175001, instead shouldnt it start from 100,000? Because we have already allocated 75000 numbers for the converion.
Can anyone please explain this?

Hi Afzal,
In R12 FA Asset Number is created by a sequence. If you want to go for Manual numbering, you need to customize the solution.

Please check with your Functional Consultant, it can be done by FA Setup (Not Sure).

I need to start the page numbers over for a new section in a document (i.e. first six pages are roman numerals, next 70 need to be in arabic numerals), but for some reason, the automatic page numbering has started over at number 3 instead of 1. Help!!

No idea why it's doing this.
You should be able to fix it by using Insert > Page Number, rather than 'Automatic Page Numbering.'
Set Page Numbers in your second section to "Start at:" 1

Multiple asset numbers in Single PR/ PO line item

Hello,
If we enter multiple Asset Numbers in single PR/ PO line item then we get following error message while doing GR -
' Entry 7100000256 00001 not in table XACCOUNTING (system error) '
Message no. M7000
For this PO, in account assignment we have selected 'Distribution' as 'Distribution on quantity basis' and 'Partial Inv' as 'Distribute to following row'
In case of procurement of materials like chair, we are procuring few hundred materials and for each chair we are creating one asset number.
Please help to resolve.

Error when uploading Sub-asset numbers using LSMW

Hi All,
We have a requirement in which we need to first load Main asset numbers from Legacy system through LSMW and then in the next load the sub-assets for the Main Assets created.
We are using Direct Input method(program RAALTD11) in LSMW for transaction code AS91 for loading Main Assets.
And then using a file with similar structure, but with sub-asset numbers filled for creating Sub-assets using AS94 and Direct Input Method.
While doing this, we are getting error:
AU 256 Different asset class <asset-class> in sub-number.
I have seen that there is a similar thread in SDN but the solution provided there is not useful to us, so I am raising again.
I am not using Batch input method, as it is giving rise to many screen errors like "<Field> is not an input field".
Please let me know how to get rid of this error.

ensure that the sub-asset has the same asset class than the main asset, no matter which inout method you are using.

Automatic page numbering not working in book files

Hi. Using CS3, I have successfully created a book in the past, where the dialog box of the book file shows consecutive page numbers for each file.
e.g file 1 1-4 (indicating 4 pages, starting on page 1)
file 2 5-22 (indicating 18 pages, starting on page 5) etc.
Files automatically renumber if I insert pages, etc.
This next book I am creating has two problems:
1. the book file dialog box shows
file a 1-4 (indicating 4 pages, starting on page 1)
file b 1-6 (indicates 6 pages - STARTS ON PAGE 5 AS IS IS SUPPOSED TO, in some cases - see problem 2).
I've followed the protocol below:
For the first document, I select "start page numbering at" and enter "1". For the rest of the files, I select the automatic page numbering radio button.
Why won't the dialog box reflect, for file b, pages being 5-11 as it is supposed to? This will get very confusing as the document gets larger.
2. I created a document by resaving an initial file as a new file in order to create additional documents, keeping the same master but changing content. Even with the automatic page numbering radio button selected, some of these files start on the wrong page (e.g. 5 when the file is supposed to start on 12), after I select Update Page and Section numbers from the book dialog drop-down. I can't figure out what may forcing an override of this page numbering and am looking for a pointer in the right direction...thank you,

I am having the same exact problem as Erin. The page numbers don't even get updated correctly on the documents within the book.
I'm using InDesign CS3 5.0.3 on Win XP.
For the first document in the book, "Start Page Numbering at:" is set to "1." "Chapter Number:" is set to 1.
For the second and third+ documents in the book, "Automatic Page Numbering" is selected, as is "Continue from Previous Document in the Book."
In the Book panel, all documents show page "1-x". When I open the second and third+ documents, the page numbers all start at page 2.
Any ideas? Please tell me this is a documented bug because it's driving me crazy.

InDesign: Letter spacing messed up in automatic page numbering

The numbers in my documents are smashed together when using automatic page numbering in InDesign.. They are fine when there is a single character (1-9 )but when there is two characters (10 or higher) the kerning is gone and the numbers overlap?
Anyone know why and how to fix?

I think I might have just figured it out...
I was cutting and pasting text boxes from masters above... deleting the special charactor and insearting agin in a text box that I had inserted one before instead of creating a new one to insert new special character... ID does not like that I guess

Automatic Section Numbering

Hello, just after some help with automatic section numbering in IDCS5.
What I have is a (currently) 50 page document split into about 15 sections. I would like to number the sections and pages so that they appear on each page 1.1, 1.2 1.3 etc
I've experimented with all the page numbering options but none seem to automatically update the 'section' number, I can only manually add a prefix.
The problem I have is this document will be a continually evolving thing and later on I may need to add a new section between say section 2 and 3. Is it possible to have all the following sections renumber accordingly, so 3.1 automatically becomes 4.1 and so on.

In the frame where you are putting the page number marker also add the Section Marker character. It's in the same list of markers under special characters as the page number markers.

Setup Automatic Cheque Numbers

Good Afternoon,
Could you help me to setup the automatic cheque numbers?
I have already setup the "Next Cheque No." in the House Bank Accounts - Setup", but when I go to Outgoing Payments the system assumes always zero.
What should I do to setup this?

Relevant part for your issue from the Note :
All the check numbers will automatically be entered as '0', i.e. the number is not assigned based on the "Next Check Number" field in the House Bank accounts definitions. The check will be saved with the number
'0' as long as it is not printed. The check will become valid just after printing.

Can I insert the filename automatically in Numbers?

When I used Excell, on all my invoices, quotations,... I had a text-field with some part of the filename, so the reference of the document was automatically extracted from the filename. The syntax was something like: CEL("filename";A1).
Does something like this exist in numbers? I can't find it. The purpose is to have the filename mentioned in the document instead of typing it over again.

Automatic row numbers in the dynamic table

Hi, with your help I've almost completed my table. My table has 18 rows and it has add row btn. Is it possible automate numbering of the rows so that when I add rows they will have numbers automaticly. I've tried indexing but it doesn't work.

You may navigate to Projects Implementation Options, and go to the tab - Internal Billing.
There you may find the field - Invoice Numbering. You can select Automatic or Manual.
Per your requirement enter - Automatic, and go on entering the starting number to use for internal invoices.

Automatic paragraph numbering in pages

Hello,
I'm using Pages 5.2.2.
I would like to create Numbered Headings and increment automatically.
So I've tried the following:
From the Format Pane, I've selected the Paragraph Style -> Heading.
Then from the Bullets & Lists, I've selected -> Numbered.
The result is something like this:
1. First Heading
Great so far.
Then I type some text and insert some images. Time for another Heading,
I repeat the above process, but alas, I get:
1. Second Heading
When I expect:
2. Second Heading.
Does this work in Pages 5.2, or is this broken? The lack of Basic features like this make Pages unusable for any kind of serious work.

Before I post a response, I may spend considerable time testing various approaches to a problem. I don't guess.
In Pages v5.2.2, there is no automated numbering solution for Paragraph headings, even if saved in a template. Each instance of a new heading, must be set as a numbered list item, and the incremental value must be manually chosen. Yes, you can achieve numbered headings, but it will not please you.
I feel uncomfortable using the term word processing and Pages v5.2.2 together. It has to be the worst software product that Apple has released in recent memory. There are other popular word processing products that you can use on the Mac — Word in Office for Mac — as an example.

Using markers to automatically add numbered images to the timeline...

I've imported a .mp3 containing markers into After Effects. I then imported in a bunch of sequentially numbered images. My question is, how do I get those images to automatically line up with the markers (i.e. Image1.png to Marker1, Image2.png to Marker2, etc.) so I don't have to line them up manually? My goal is to create a simple slideshow with audio. The number of images could get into the hundreds, so automation would be preferred. Is there a script that does this? Please help.

I'm not aware of an existing script that does exactly that, but by hacking this script and borrowing some code from a few others this would be perfectly doable.

Automatic Chapter Numbering?

I'm looking for this option and I don't know if the name I gave it is actually correct so let me explain what I want.
In word you can do this and then your get something like this:
1. Title example
1.1 Subtilte example
1.1.1 Another subtitle example
1.2 Subtitle example
1.1.1 Another subtitle example
I think you get the point now, in Word this gets automatically done so please tell me how I can access this in Pages

Depends on how you 'made up the whole document.'
If you've applied the same List Style to all of the lists in your document, you can replace that style with the new one,
If you've formatted the lists 'manually,' then you'll need to do some manual 'un-formating' to get the lists back to a 'plain' state like this:
Main heading 1
lev 2 head 1
lev 3 head 1
Main heading 2
lev 2 head 1
lev 2 head 2
etc
Then select the whole list and apply the tiered list style.
Then set the level of each line by starting each with tab characters, using one fewer than the level of that line:
Main heading 1
tab lev 2 head 1
tab tab lev 3 head 1
Main heading 2
tab lev 2 head 1
tab lev 2 head 2
etc
Numbers will convert this into a tiered list similar to the one in my post above.
