Automatic builds for part of a slideshow
Please excuse a dumb if this be so but..
I want a presentation where a section will run on slide after slide at timed intervals but the start and end wait until I click. Any pointers would be most welcome.
Keynote 2 can do this. You just have to set each of the automated slides to do an auto transition after a certain amount of time, then set the others to transition on a click.

How to automatically build a table with 2 alternated font colors for the lines ?
Hi,
I'm looking for a way to automatically build a table with alternate background color and alternate font color for the lines.
I have this particular project (a list of companies of an industrial area) and it is updated twice a year :
I managed to set an automated alternate background color of the lines so this works well (white/blue/white/blue...)
But the font color does not automatically alternates... and I do not know how to set this up...
All the companies are ordered alphabetically so when I have to insert or delete one, the whole text of the table under the modified line is messed up. Then I have unreadable white text on white background and blue text on blue background...
Does anyone have an idea on how to automatically alternate the font color ?

My desktop is getting automatically refreshed for every few mins.
Running on 10.4.11 on Power PC G4. My desktop is getting automatically refreshed for every few mins. All files and folders in the desktop disappears and comes again. Sometimes, the application am working on quits and this refresh thing happens. And i assume it happens only when its connected with internet. Sounds like a virus kinda symptoms.
Can someone help me investigate this and get rid of the problem?

Vision Builder for Automated Inspection and communication to external programs
I want to use Vision Builder for Automated Inspection in my application to do the vision tasks. However, the vision task
is only a part of the total application. Like for example, the application starts by reading the input of a barcode scanner.
Based on the value of the barcode, the proper program should be loaded in Vision Builder for AI. I was thinking about
using the .NET environment to build the application and call Vision Builder for AI from out of there. Is this possible? If
not, are there other solutions?

Vision Builder includes a Product Selection functionality that allows to automatically change an inspection based on the result of a step. For example, if the interface to the barcode scanner is Serial or TCP, you can use the corresponding step in Vision Builder to read the barcode, and based on the result select the appropriate inspection.
That is if you want to stay within the Vision Builder environment.
If your application is already written in .NET and you need to add Vision to it, then as mentioned in the post above, Vision Builder has a programmatic API that you can call from .NET (example located here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\Vision Builder AI 2011\API Examples\dotNET Examples
The API allows to programmatically load an inspection, run it and get results, close it, etc. From the information you're providing, it seems like it might be the option that is the most appropriate to your application.

[SOLVED] makepkg error: Why is it looking for '.part' files?
I've been seeing the following problem with every package I try to build with makepkg. The download works, but then makepkg complains that it can't find the source file:

Why is it looking for the .part file, instead of the .tgz file? When I run makepkg again, without doing anything in between, it finds the .tgz file and goes on its merry way.
I'm using curl, and I haven't tried wget. Judging by my unscientific sample of forum posts it looks like wget is the de facto standard, so this may not be on anyone else's radar.

I created an album in iPhoto 11 and I have placed photos in a certain order for her graduation party slideshow. I want to place that album or photos on a thumbdrive, but when I do I lose the order I placed them in the folder. renamed the photos starting with 1 and ending 262. thinking that would save the photos in order. Each time I try to export them that are placed in original folder names and descriptions need help.
This is a two part process. First we title the photos, then we export them, using the title as filename.
To title them
Once you have then in the order you want select them all and go
Photos -> Batch Change. Select set 'Title' to 'Text'
Choose a Title -> Graduation 2013 or whatever, then check the box at 'Append number to each photo.
Now, in the Album all your photos are named... Graduation 001, 002, 003 etc
Next Export them:
File -> Export, and in the Name option, choose 'Title as Filename' and complete the export.

Changing fill colour for partly transparent images
Does anyone know how to change the fill colour used for partly transparent images? I have a bunch of PNGs that I made for use as clip art, which I imported into iPhoto (that way I can use the media browser with Pages and Keynote).
Unfortunately, the images (which are black) are shown on top of a black rectangle both in iPhoto and the media browser. I've tried changing the background colour to both gray and black, but the 'fill' colour stays black.There's no way to change it if you want to keep the transparency for use in other applications or web pages.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance. -

It depends on the type of application you want to have....an application on web environement automatically or an application in client-server environment which ,of course , can be run in Web but Oracle Application Server is needed with some configuration steps...
Also , the Oracle Form Builder 6i is the last version of Forms which the produced runtime file (.fmx) runs on non-Web environment...and some time in the future Oracle will stop to support it....!!!!!
its tought to learn and heavy on systemIt has some wizards... which can help you very much in your productivity and of course in the learning of this tool.....
It is not considered much more heavy to the system....
NOTE: Just another thought...If the application is very simple and needs to be accessible form just a few people in a room , then Oracle Forms 6i may be sufficient ...!!!!

How to automatically build freight unit?

I'm learning SAP TM, playing around feight unit.
But I'm not clear about the whole picture here.
In fwo type customizing, I can check the "Automatic Freight Unit Building" flag and assign a default FUBR.
But how the system is going to automatically build the freight unit of a FWO?
And in FUBR creation, I'll specify some strategies and quantity stuff. There's not a field where I can specify which FU type to use.
So how is FWO, FUBR and FU type linked together?

When the FWO saving, it would build the freight unit auotmatically.
The filed "Document Type" in FUBR is used to specify the FU type.
So the FWO build the FU base on the FUBR which maintain in the FWO type.

My new Pc Build for Premiere Pro Editing. Need opinions!
I have finally saved up enough money for my own Pc build and i need opinions on my parts list. My budget is aprox. $1800-$2000. This is a list I got from a local retail store, prices are taken from Pcpartpicker.

The bad part that Jim refers to is RAID 0-ing them: If only one of those drives goes bad, all of the data on both or all of the drives in that volume get permanently and irrecoverably lost (unless one wants to spend tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars per disk just for professional data recovery).

PC build for PrPro & SpeedGrade
My builder is suggesting some body parts for a new editing machine, based on an Asus mobo listed below with 32Gb RAM, re-using my current EVGA GTX770-4gb video card and twin-raided SSD system drive ... but of course, there are choices. I don't know between the chips he's suggested which is best especially of course per dollar ... though a few dollars here & there I'm not worried about. And is the mobo a good choice for cost/performance?

Based on the above, he offered these chip choices ... and reasoning ... I try to follow his reasoning, but ... I'm not the tech brain he and clearly some around here are. And while he builds incredible gaming machines per dollar, he doth get frustrated when Adobe doesn't code things the way he thinks they should, and his knowledge of just what works for the Adobe DVA's isn't as comprehensive as many here. I have had him look at the Tweaker's page. I don't know how much weight he put on what he found there. Anyway ... these are what he suggested for CPU ideas given the above choices ... would love to hear thoughts & suggestions.
Assuming we get any one of the options to an extra 800Mhz with the same $300 cooling system, their total Mhz per dollar scores are:
6 core Ivy-Bridge @ 4.8Ghz / $1325.99 = 21.7Mhz/$
6 core Haswell-E @ 4.1Ghz / $0689.99 = 35.6Mhz/$
4 Core Devil's Canyon @ 4.8Ghz / $639.99 = 30Mhz/$

So while the old Haswell offers in stock speeds the greatest Mhz per dollar ratio in a general sense, the Devil's Canyon gives the best top-speed per dollar.

So basically, the sweet-spot for efficiency without taking into account the cost of building a whole machine to support the CPU, is the Devil's Canyon as linked, sans additional thermal units. Taking it into overclocking, however, we would expect to pay 117% the cost for 120% capacity. This is one of those very rare cases when I'd recommend doing so.
Neilfirst, game machines are based off maxing the graphics. most get by just fine with an i5 and a high end video card or two or three. video/graphics programs are the opposite. they use the cpu much more than the graphics, and in some cases like AE, use the graphics very little to none. video games are still primarily 32-bit applications, which only use 2 cores but usually run better on 4 core cpu's. most video/graphics programs are now 64-bit which will make use of as many cores as given. the problem is with bad/sloppy programing, which adobe is guilty of. parts of the program are still single threaded, 32-bit based, and therefore can bottleneck the program as everything has to wait just for one part of the program to finish. AE is guilty of this, as many of its effects are still 32-bit and ruin its performance. they have their tricks to help get around it, but its still terrible. they are supposedly working on updating it to be true 64-bit and use the graphics card to catch up with the other major players in that market, but who knows when they will do that. these may be some of the things he gets frustrated with, as would anyone who buys a fast computer only to have the software bottleneck itself. this is becoming extremely important as intel is adding cores and dropping its clock speeds to gain performance/speed. intel has some xeons with 12, 14 and even 18 cores. that 18 becomes 36 with hyper-threading! any program thats not full/true 64-bit could bottleneck a $50,000 super computer into a $500 dell. this is why its so important that software companies get their act together.
so for parts, if you need to save money build around a i7-4790K and possibly re-use your ram. if you have the budget, get the latest and greatest, the new haswell-E. the i7-5820K is best value, but there is also the i7-5930K and i7-5960K. the new haswell-e takes ddr4 ram, so you wont be able to re-use your ram. ddr4 also costs a bit more as its new tech. if you are overclocking and paying for high-end overclocking components, then you can afford to go with the haswell-e. -
My 2006 MacBook Pro has broken. There is a little bit of drive noise when I turn it on, but then nothing happens. It is no big deal. Most of my files were backed up. There are a few files I would like to recover if possible, but nothing worth a major effort.
I have seen that broken MacBook Pro's go for about $300 on eBay for parts, so I would like to sell the MacBook Pro. However, I only want to do that after I am sure that my personal data is wiped out. Does anyone know how I can accomplish that? Does anyone know of an easy way to search the old hard drive for some of the data that I lost? Can a Genius Bar take care of this stuff for me (and how much do they charge?)?

The ONLY real secure way to be sure that noone may recover data from your drive is, to remove the drive, and drill one or two 1" holes thru the disk.
A bit less secure but useful way is, to wipe out the data with a tool that's overwrite all sectors of the drive with randomized data in multiple runs.

Independent tests bring out, that even specialized recovery companies with forensic tools are unable to find useful data after such a run.

Updating my .ipa in DPS App Builder for testing is not working
Hi there,
I've build my .ipa file in DPS App Builder for testing on my iPad before I publish it to the app store. No problem. I tested it and saw some modifications to make. I made the changes on my folio, updated it in the folio builder of indesign (on the cloud). Then I get back to DPS App Builder and rebuild an .ipa file from the "Manage" and "Modify" windows, it download and test my certifates, seems to work ok. Then I've created the new .ipa file (after erasing the old one on my desktop and iTunes) but when I synch it back on my iPad it's not updated. It's still the first version of my folio without the changes.
I tried to create a new app from the beginning but the single edition serial number does not work anymore. So my only solution is to update my folio, right? But what is the right way to do it? Am I missing something? I didn't find any answer in the step by step guide about that.
Or is it possible to delete completly the first version in DPS App Builder to recreate it without losing my single edition serial number as I didn't submit it to Apple yet?
Do I have something to do in the Folio Producer?

Julien.Single Edition Serial is one time use thus modification is not possible from your end directly in case you wish to use the same serial number. For such cases you need to contact DPS Support, who can get an approval on a serial number reset after reviewing the need.
