Automatic capitalization in Pages 5

Why did they remove this feature? This is the only reason why I'm still using Pages 09. The worst part is that it must be extremely easy to implement! I hope there will be a day I won't regret buying Pages 5.

I just updated my MacBook to Mavericks and I found the lastest verion of Pages won't allow me to automatically capitalize "i". Same thing happens to the first word of a sentence, I used to be able to do that. If anyone knows how to solve this, I will truly appreciate. It was not horrible experience when I had to type my 10-page-long essay last time. Thank you!

The old version of Pages (Pages '09) automatically capitalizes the first word of each sentence. But in Pages 5.2, I have to manually capitalize the first word of every sentence. How can I make this automatic?
The options in Menu > Format > Font > Capitalization, do not show an option for sentence capitalization. Please help. Thank you!

Feature removed from Pages 5 along with over 100 others,
Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Pages 5 is a disastrous beta pushed onto users, and misrepresented by Apple as an "Upgrade".

You need to fix capitalization in Pages Preferences > Auto-Correction. When you select this option, you can just keep typing in lower case and the first letter of the next sentence will automatically promote to upper case.

"Blank page" text on automatically created empty pages

I want "blank page" text to appear automatically on any page that FrameMaker_8 adds to create an even pagecount. Is this possible?

Nope, unless you want to have the default MP "Left" laid out as a TPILB (This Page Intentionally Left Blank). That also requires creating a new "Left.Content" MP, and making sure that a critical mass of commonly used Paragraph Formats are mapped to it or "Right".
What FM needs, and doesn't have, is a notation for the MasterPageMappingTable that controls what happens when there is no Flow A or other user generated content for a page.
Back in the real world, always first work Plan 0, which is to talk management or the customer out of requiring TPILBs in the first place.
TPILBs: I know how to do 'em. Glad we don't need 'em here.

How to get iBook to Automatically turning the page

That depends on what you mean by "automatically turning the page". The only available settings for page turning behavior is in Settings > iBook > Both Margins Advance.

Whenever I open a template document in Microsoft word, it automatically opens in Pages. THis has happened since I downloaded Mavericks. How do I get this to stop and allow me to use Microsoft word templates in Miicrosoft word?

Right click on a template and choose Get Info. Find the "Open with" section, and change it to Word. Click Change All if you want all templates to be opened in Word by default.

Automatic capitalization in Mail at beginning of new sentence

I'm a new Mac user and a new Notebook user. In Windows, when composing e-mails, it would automatically capitalize the first word in a new sentence. I think that when there was a period, it would automatically capitalize the next word.
Is there such a feature on the Mac? I've grown lazy over the years with this feature and many of my e-mails now go out with missing capitalization.

I don't think that is a feature of Windows at least not WinXP (Maybe Vista is better? heh). I suspect it was a feature of Microsoft Outlook that comes with the Windows version of MS Office. In fact Outlook Express can't even do a spell check unless MS Office is installed because there is not dictionary for it to use (there may be work arounds, but they are not native to Windows OS).
Microsoft sells Office for Mac, and it includes Entourage for email. It has the auto-correct features you are talking about. I've seen Office 2008 for Mac sell for about $100 if you check around (List is much higher).
Meanwhile, there are other 3rd party programs like Typinator

How to automatic submit a page if a field is filled?

still I have the problem to give my users a simple method for login. MOD_NTLM cannot be used because we have windows 2003.
So I had another idea. I create 2 hidden items on the login-page (101). These fields I fill with the URL: http://bondbmstst01.eba.local:7777/pls/htmldb/f?p=101:101:::::P101_P1,P101_P2:Uxxyu],qopp
The character at the end of the line are crypted the username and password. I fill the items P101_USERNAME with "select encrypt_auth(:P101_P1) from dual", the password is the same.
Now I have only to press the LOGIN-Button to login. But I would have, that if the hidden item P101_P1 is filled, the button is hit by automatic or the page submitting is automatic.
Is this possible?

Hello Mike,
it is not exact this. In normal the login-page has 2 items, one for username, one for password. To login I have to fill out the both fields and press enter or click "Login". This is good so.
Another way to login should be, that I write the username and password in the URL and fill two hidden items. If the page is loaded, I will check the both hidden fields and make a automatic login - without a user have to write anything.
I can fill the items P101_USERNAME and P101_PASSWORD, but after that a user have to click on the button "LOGIN", but I dont want, that a user have to do anything to login.
I hope, it is now a little bit clearer.

Firefox automatically capitalizes and sometimes I need to override this. How can I do this fix this?

I am having trouble with the automatic capitalization. I am doing a medical course and when I type after a full stop it capitalizes and I need to change this.
How do I change this setting either to turn it off or override it.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

How to turn off automatic numbering in Pages

I recently had a problem getting rid of automatic numbering within Pages.
I keyed in a numbered heading (eg, "1. H1") and then hit return, when it gave me another numbered heading ("2. H2") on the next line, which I didn't want.
The easiest way to get round this is to hit the return key on the automatically numbered line (eg, "2. H2"), which removes the "2" and puts you to the start of the line. This seems to tell Pages that you don't want automatic numbering, at least for the time being. Perhaps until you key another numbered heading...
To turn off automatic numbering on an individual line you can press the "i" button at the top and select "None". That will remove the number.

The View menu does what it says:
Menu > View > Hide Invisibles

The setting in "Tools > Options > Advanced > General" is meant as an accessibility feature, as you can see by the label of that section, so that people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and is not meant as a safety protection to stop redirecting.
