Automatic category gap to WAD chart item

Hi all,
I can't find the option I want for my Web Application Designer Chart Item.
I want.
I want to make the category gap dependant of the number of categories, as I only can find a constant number for category gaps.
For instance :
My chart has 0CALDAY as category values, and the chart timeframe is selectable by the user.
If the user chooses a 2 weeks timeframe, I can display each categories values which makes 15 days, but if the user chooses a one year timeframe, displaying all the days would become unreadable, so it would be better to display only one category each month.
Nevertheless, if you have any documentation for chart edition options, it will be helpfull.

the chart does not provide such an option. You have to use the static value for gaps.

Value axis in WAD Chart

Hello Experts
I am using a Chart web-item in a WAD web template. Now I have set up the value axis and the sample data property of the chart with a minimum value = -500 and max value = 3000. However, when I execute the web template on the portal the value axis show a strange behaviour with a max value = 0 and min value = -250000.
Has any one encountered a similar problem?

About chart item category setting in WAD

Hi WAD experts,
I'm having a problem with a bar chart in my wad web template. I need to restrict this bar chart for showing maximum 5 categories. I have done this by unchecked the "maximum automatic" and set "max value" to 5 under the Category Axis in Refined Chart Properties for this bar chart.
The bar chart looks fine and just showing 5 categories when the template is loaded. This is my i want exactly, but whenever there is a new filter applied to the same info provider from the filter pane item. The bar chart will try to display all categories again, and ignore my max 5 categories setting.
I've tried to use the set item parameter command to reset the bar chart to show 5 categories after new filter applied but it doesn't work. The bar chart is still showing all categories.
Did anyone experience this problem before? Please provide me some guideline and solution. Thanks in advance.

You need to control this via the query that is the dataprovier for the chart. If the query only displays 5 categories, the chart will do the same.
One option for this is to set a condition on the query of 'Top 5'.

Automatic Colour settings problem for WAD Chart Column type

In WAD (BI 7.0) Chart Creation i am having issues with colour settings for Chart item Column type with 3D. I have six key fig in query i am trying to show all KF in Chart. But it is showing only one colour for all keyfigs. atlast I have manually assigned different colours for different series, but no use... the issue remains same.. Please help me on this issue

Hi Harsh,
Please try the following options.
1. Try swapping the axes. Certain charts follow the YX convention.
2. Right Click > Edit > Click on 'Refine' > Click on the chart type on the right frame (Bars/Pie etc) > [OK] Vary Category by Color: Enable this checkbox.
3. If you have finished with these settings, you may switch back to Wizard mode to follow up the settings (Step 3 of 6 - Value Properties)
4. Under Categories in Wizard, just make sure you are giving options to suit all the Categories in an uniform fashion. To begin with don't bother to give a fixed Category Count. (As your chart size may increase dynamically based on GRID data)
5. Goto Refine > Click on Global Settings > Choose 'Color Palette' > Tradeshow/Enjoy/StreamLine/Custom : These are the optional themes which may be well adjusted to suit your requirements.

Automatic content related with for Web Items (here: Charts)

Hi Experts,
is there any way to automate the width property of web items, e.g. charts, related to the content?
In this case, I have a column chart with three columns. If the column count in- /decreases (e.g. when dynamically changing query dimension options), the chart width should change automatically as well.
Any ideas? At the moment I have to set a fixed with in pixels.

Yes u can do this.
It's not possible directly with simple direct FCC.
Try this..
Access all the records, header, I and C records as a single record... no difference between them.
In mapping all the records are under a single name so based on the logic for connection between the header and I and C,
u can create or split them into the structure u are expecting in the mapping...
U can go for 2 MM in a single interface mapping...
Let us know still u face any problem..

How can I fit the chart in the center of the chart item ??

I created a chart item in the Form, in which the attached chart is created manually using Graphics. When I run the form, the OG.OPEN function is called and the chart is displayed. However, it can only show a part of it. I want to know how can it can be fit into the size of the chart item, so that the whole chart can be shown on the screen automatically. Thanks !!

Legend Properties in WAD chart

Hi
I created a View on a Query which shows only top10 employees based on their age
I integraded view to a chart(bar) in WAD.
When i executed the template and compared it with output in view
The Graph and data is correct but LEGEND is displaying only 9 out of 10 employee names
I tried changing the properties of legend its not working.....please update

as You said you are getting correct data in the View OutPut, means the problem is with WAD settings only,
In WAD: Select the Chart Item, left side in properties, you can see the Web Item Parametres Tab; under the Display NOde you can see the width & Height (default values are 300),
you increase the height & Width to 400 and execute the report.

How to configure a Chart item in VC model

I am having problem in configuring a chart in VC model.
In my VC model my query output or chart input is Cal Month/Year (Last 12 Months) and revenue. So there will always be 12 rows in output
My requirement is to draw a Column chart for the above query output so that in X-Axis Cal Month/Year
I made the following setting/config for chart item
Chart Type: Column
Data Series: Stacked
Category Axis: Cal_year_month_ext_key
Value Axis: Blank (Default Settings)
Data Series: @revenue
When I compiled, Deployed and executed the modeu2026output is
In X axis all the 12 months are displayed but only the first row value is being displayed in the graph for all the months

If you have only calmonth in the rows and revenue in your columns of your bi query
pls try using a column chart with "clustered" data series rather than a stacked one
since you have a single data series .

Page break for a category group of a chart - SSRS 2008 R2

You can create two graphs and put them inside two separate rectangles and add page break
after first rectangle and add a filter to your chart for first category group for first chart and second category group for second chart.
This is best you can do

Iterate over and access pieSeries chart item

HI ALL
Ok iterating over column chart series does not work with pie
series.
The code I use for column series is below, I want the same
for pieseries . I also want to be able to select a piece of a pie
chart within code. If a user click a pie chart item, I have have it
rotate and expand to show data. I want to do the same in AS. Select
pie chart item rotate it, expand it and select it.

I do not see your forum code to comment, but you probably are not trying to access the string field. The other possibility is that the input pointer is still valid (not dealloc'ed elsewhere in your code, but this is something you should never bank on. You can use self.xyz, or [self setXyz] which are complimentary. If you do not want to use the property/accessor, you can copy the input or send a retain message to the variable. Bottom line is you need a retain/copy message to be sent for subsequent access to work.

Custom color palette in WAD charts

Hi BI Experts,
we are trying to create a custom color palette, which we want to apply to all your WAD charts.
Can anyone tell us how to do this?
Of course we can customize the colors in each chart, but that's a hell of a lot of work. Moreover, there doesn't seem to be any way to save the custom colors, but we have to recreate the colors with the color picker for every single chart.
The WAD chart wizard allows to choose between color palettes "Enjoy", "Streamline", "Tradeshow" and "User specific".
If it is not possible to create a custom color palette, can we modify one of these SAP color palettes? What does "User specific" mean?
Any help will be much appreciated (and of course rewarded with points).

Chart item - overall result

I'm working with the BEx Web Application Designer BI AddOn /.X (based on 6.40) and I want to display the result of query in a chart item. The problem hereby is that i also want to display the overall result! How can I do this?

You want to display both on the same chart item ?
In this case, you've to define the query with display of the overall result, and change the properties of the chart item, to say that you display the results. Don't know if it's flagged on or off by default. No need of 2 DP. I thought you wanted to display a chart with details on one side, and an overall result on the other side.

Displaying 0CALMONTH in WAD Chart - Date enclosed with brackets []

Hi, when I run a chart with 0CALMONTH the Date shows up as [05/2010], [06/2010]... It displays the date with brackets around it. Now, I'm supposing this is because 0CALMONTH has no Text configured. Now I'm sure lot's of people use charts with 0CALMONTH in the bottom Axis of their charts and I'm sure they don't want the brackets as I don't. I've seen lots of posts on missing text for 0CALMONTH, but haven't really found out a definitive answer.
So how is everyone getting around this so their charts do not show the brackets around 0CALMONTH in WAD Charts?

The brackets were introduced with BW 7.x systems. The idea behind them is to show which is KEY and which is TEXT. The user can now clearly distinguish the key and description of each characteristic or structure member on the axis. Unfortunately, there is no way to 'correct' this as it is seen as an improvement

Chart item causes blank page in ie9

Hello,
we are using design studio 1.2 sp2 with netweaver and have problems with ie9. Firefox working well but ie9 ended up in a blank white screen if the application contains a chart item.
Do you have some suggestions for that?

thanks for your advice. I checked it up with ie develeoper tools (F12) - works as IE9. Switching to compatibility view doesn´t help. Intresting if running as IE8, evey thing is displayed but do not ask in which design
