Automatic connection to mailbox suddenly not worki...

Please help me!
I have an E71 (postpaid with Optus) and when I got the phone a few months back I set up email (it took a bit of figuring out, and now I can’t remember how!).
Anyway, I have been sending, receiving and being notified of emails just fine.
However, for some reason over the last few days, my phone has just stopped notifying me automatically when I receive an email.
I can still send and receive emails, it just won’t automatically connect to my mailbox and push the email to me.
To receive the email, I have to manually go in and connect to the mailbox. Then it comes through fine – the alarm sounds and the alert comes up on the homescreen as it always did.
I haven’t changed any settings, however we did just switch to Naked with IInet and I had to enter my new WEP into the E71.
I can browse the web just fine – no problems there.
Here are some phone settings which might help problem solve….
It’s set up to automatically scan WLAN and our home network is the default.
Email settings – connection settings - Incoming email (also similar settings to outgoing email)
User name – I’ve double-checked and it is correct
password – is correct
incoming mail server – mail.iinet.net.au
access point in use – optus internet
mailbox name – iinet.net.au
mailbox type – pop3
security (ports) – off
port – default
APOP secure login – off.
Email settings – user settings
my name – is correct
send message – immediately
send copy – no
signature – no
new email alerts – on
reply to – off
delete emails from – phone and server
Retrieval settings
email to retrieve – msgs and attachments
retrieval amount from inbox – all
Automatic retrieval
email notifications – disabled
email retrieval – disabled
tools – settings – general – personalization – homescreen – mode settings – homescreen applications – enabled applications – E-mail 1 notification is TICKED.
Like I said, once I’ve manually connected to the mailbox, I do get notified on my homescreen, so that seems to be working ok.
(I’ve also tried E-mail 2 notification, and that works too)
