Automatic data source updating in Indesign

Is there any way to update the data source (.csv) file automatically in Indesign after making changes to the csv file?

Well, maybe sort of possible, kind of. Data Merge is supposed to be able to update after a change to the data file if the merge fields are on the master page, if I remember correctly, but I think it's a little buggy, and you do have to tell ID to do the update.

Do package data sources update all connected connection managers automatically?

I converted a big project from SSIS2008 -> SSIS2014
During conversion i also erased all connection managers and recreated them based on the packages data sources.
Now i want to test my packages on another server , so i changed my 2 data sources only.
When i open the packages can see on the connectionstring the old server.
If i dont do anything else and press start, what will happen?
Will the package update itself automatically and get the connection string of the data source or not?

Hi Elias,
If file or database in the connection string for old server can be accessed from remote server and we have access to that file or database in the connection string, then we can execute the package very well. For example, there is an OLE DB Connection
Manager that connect to a database from old server. If we have access to that database in new server, then we can still connect to that database. Please notice that the connection string is still the original one, it couldn’t update itself automatically.
If we want it connect to another one, we should manually change the connection string. Unless we are using a localhost file or database and they also existing in the new server, they can update to new server automatically.

Updated Direct 7mode And CDOT Script Data Sources

Here are updated versions of my direct data sources I put together (communities doesn't seem to let me edit the existing article) - the 20150703 update adds support for WFA 3.0 and provides much more complete cDOT (cm_storage), including cDOT 8.3 features. The 20150728 update fixes storage pool support. The 20150802 update adds support for WFA 3.1RC1 and fixes failover_group support in WFA 3.0. Not everyone has pre-existing OCUM and installing and configuring OCUM for both 7mode and cDOT is not necessarily a small task. These datasource types populate the standard storage and cm_storage schemas which can then be used as normal with many workflows. The WFA 3.0 cDOT direct data source is almost complete. It now populates the following: disk, disk_aggregate, efficiency_policy. It includes cDOT 8.3 information added in WFA 3.0: broadcast_domain, failover_group, ipspace, storage_pool*. There may be some minor gaps in some of the data - please let me know if you identify anything. (Note: The WFA 2.2* cDOT data source is missing all of these items). The WFA 3.1RC1 cDOT dats source adds support for cluster_peer, vserver_peer and SVM DR, and all new fields added in 3.1RC1 are populated. It also populates cifs domain information. The 7-mode source is less complete. It contains: array, vfiler, aggregate, interface, volume, vsm, qtree, lun. It is missing: array_license, cifs_share, cifs_share_acl, dataset, disk, igroup, igroup_initiator, lunmap, nfs_export, object_comment, quota, snapshot, snapvault, user_quota. Configuration is simple:Provide credentials for the arrays/clusters in WFA credentials.Add datasource - select version appropriate to your WFA version (the 7-mode source works with 2.2-3.0) which the cDOT one is different for 2.2 and 3.0.Set the Hostname of the datasource to a comma separated list of array or cluster admin names or addresses, or set up one datasource per array/cluster.Configure the interval to something reasonable (say 15 or 30 minutes)Increase the timeout for larger environments (in my testing, collection takes 15-90s per array/cluster - it may take longer when there are large numbers of objects or if there is significant latency between the WFA system and the array/cluster) There are some flags that can be passed in (comma separated) through the data source's "User name" field:strict - fail collection if any error occurs (default if there is only one array/cluster)nostrict - don't fail connection if an error occurs (for a single array/cluster datasource)debug - log more informationlog=<logpath> - where to log (defaults to ..\..\log\direct_<schema>.log - typically C:\Program Files\NetApp\WFA\jboss\standalone\log\)timeout=<timeout_in_milliseconds> - API timeout (defaults to 180000)The Password, Database and Port fields are unused. Hi Richard, The dar file is directly attached, not wrapped in a zip as the previous communities site used to do. You should be able to directly import it into WFA. Note that some browsers may save the file with a zip extension (I've seen IE do this - dar files are just zip files anyway), so you may need to rename the file to .dar first. Regards,Tim

Simple creation of Update Rule from BW Data Source

Hi guys,
 Pertaining standard SAP Business Content extractors
 I am referring to InfoCube : 0PA_C01(Headcount and Personnel Actions)
 I am attempting to create an Update Rule from Info Source : 0HR_PA_PA_1(Headcount)
 This Info Source : 0HR_PA_PA_1(Headcount) is connected to BW Data Source(Not R/3!) 0HR_PA_PA_1
 I have created an Info Package for this Info Source and managed to get 15 records{In Contrast to my 68800 Records from Info Source : 0HR_PA_0(Employee)}
 So, when I create an Update Rule to Connect Info Cube: 0PA_C01(Headcount and Personnel Actions) to Info Source to Info Source : 0HR_PA_PA_1(Headcount), I get the following error
ERROR : IC=0PA_C01 IS=0HR_PA_PA_1 error when checking the update rules
Could you please also advice, why do I only get 15 records for Data Source 0HR_PA_PA_1 ?
P/S : I am on BW 3.5

 This Data Source: 0HR_PA_PA_1(Headcount) is tricky to me because it`s a BW Data Source.
 Exact Error Message is as follows :-
"Error Message : RSAU461
 IC=0PA_C01 IS=0HR_PA_PA_1 error when checking the update rules "
 My Exact Problem is that I don`t see any values for the following fields in my Info Cube : 0PA_C01(Headcount and Personnel Actions)
Country;
Country Code;
Gender;
Nationality;
Language;
Postal Code;
Region;
Position;
Job;
Payroll Area;
Payroll Group;
Pay Scale's;
Pay Grade's
This is because, this information is supplied by InfoSource : 0HR_PA_PA_1
But I don`t have an Update Rule for this InfoSource in my InfoCube : 0PA_C01
So, that's why I am attempting to create this additional Update Rule
 And also, could someone enlighten me why would SAP not include such a standard Update Rule when they have already idenfied those needed fields in a Cube ? This is suppose to be a STANDARD workable Business Content right ?

I have a requirement to write an update routine for 0VENDOR based on the below logic :
Create routines to populated BW Info Object u201CVendoru201D (0VENDOR) based on the following logic:
IF field u201CVendoru201D (ITM_VENDOR_ID) is populated from data source 0BBP_SC_TD_1, THEN populate 0VENDOR with that value
ELSE IF u201CPreferred Vendoru201D (ITM_PROPVEN_ID) is populated from data source 0BBP_SC_TD_1, THEN populate 0VENDOR with that value
ELSE IF neither u201CVendoru201D (ITM_VENDOR_ID) or u201CPreferred Vendoru201D (ITM_PROPVEN_ID) are populated from data source 0BBP_SC_TD_1, then 0VENDOR = NULL
Can anyone help me in converting this logic into ABAP routine.

Hi Suchitra,
In the Transfer Rules ... You will be mapping each field then the mapping field click on the button with Triangle then you can see the which type you want.
Then select the routine and select the datasource fields (don't forget to select the both fields VENDOR and PROPITM)...
Then give a name to routine ...
and in the code just change the COMM_STRUCTURE to TRANSFER_STRUCTURE.
Then you can get this .... done..

How can I update record in the block that Data Source is PROCEDURE?

I like use Procedure as the Data Source of block.It's very flexible.
Usually I do this only query the record,but now I must update record in the block that Data Source is Procedure.

Problem with delta update on customised export data source.

Hi all BW gurus,
I have created several customised export data sources in the R/3 system. And I have made use of the utility program <Z_CHANGE_DELTA_PROCESS> to update the ROOSOURCE table.
While this can result in being able to do initial update (instead of full update), the subsuquent delta update is not working.
In RSA7, the datasource is with green light and in RSA3, the extractor can extractor data out of it.
Does anybody have some idea on this?
I heard that there is a way to change the Business Transaction Event (BTE), but I don't quite understand how this is performed. And wonder if this is the only way out. To me, the triggering point would be the same, meaning the InfoPackage would be executed, then call the extractors in R/3 to extract the delta update in order to load into the InfoCube.
And how do others do for executing delta update of the customised data source?

Update 0funct_loc from 2 data source

Dear all,
i am filling 0funct_loc from 2 data source, one is 0funct_loc_attr, and the other is 1cl** from characteristics data source.
My problem is both data sources work fine, however after uploading 0funct_loc, and try to upload run1cl**, it finds records but does not update specific fields of 0funct_loc as that funct_loc exists.
My data flow is 2 data sources(0funct_loc_attr, and the other is 1cl** ) in the bottom, one info source joining that and update rule to 0funct_loc.
Any help?

Hi John,
What are you trying to do here? In case each datasource will deliver different data (characteristics) of the function location, I would suggest to create two infosources (one for each datasource) and update the available characteristics.
In the monitor of the function location, you will still see that no records have been added, but still the attributes that are solely delivered by one datasource should be updated in that case.

Error updating data source from SQL Server ODBC into SQL Native Client 10.0

I am converting Crystal 8.5 reports into Crystal XI release 2. The data source was ODBC using SQL Server 2000 and pointing to a stored procedure. In the new server the data source has to be ODBC again, but it uses the SQL Native Client 10.0 Driver, because the new server is SQL Server 2008. I have copied the same old stored procedure on the new server and it works fine as a data source to a brand new Crystal XI report. But when I am opening an existing 8.5 version crystal report and updating the data source to the new location I get the error message "Some tables could not be replaced, as no match was found in the new data source".
I thought I could tackle this error by creating a temporary data source using the standard ODBC SQL Driver linked to the SQL 2008 Server instead of the SQL Native Client 10 ODBC. So I first updated the crystal data source to link to this temp ODBC using SQL Driver and it worked fine. But after that, when I try to update the data source to link to the SQL Native Client 10 ODBC, I get the same error again.
So I guess that the problem is not the new server itself, but the switch between SQL Server ODBC and SQL Native Client 10 ODBC.
Does anyone know what's going on with this SQL Native Client 10 in updating crystal report data sources?

CR XI does not support that driver. Try selecting the Native driver or upgrade to CR XI R2 for free and use SP4, 5 and 6 and then FP 6.4 or upgrade to CR 2008 and SP 3 and Fix Pack 3.3

Data is not updated to R/3 Tables to Data source in R/3

Hi All,
I am facing a problem in which, for some of the Purchase order's the confirmation Quantity is not getting updated to the Data source 2lis_02_CGR, where the confirmation quantity is comming from EKES table and th Filed is MENGE ,
when i check the Data in Table EKES, i found that the data is Available but when i check Data source, i dont see this data for some particular Purchase orders.
Can any body please, tell me how can i update the data into the Data source in R/3
( above mentioned explination is from the R/3)

Hi,
Check in RSA6 if your datasource is active.
If not activate the same.
Goto RSA3 and give datasource name and extract. Ideally records from the respective table will be extracted into the datasource.

BW Master data delta generic data source for further update in BW

Hi BWers,
I am looking for an option to load delta from Master data to another master data within BW. Export data source option for master data only has full load option but no delta update possible.
I tried creating generic data source delta enabled on view of master data (/BI/M). But the problem I am facing now is master data contains quantity field as attribute and this field refers another table RSDKYF for unit. To be able to create data source on view / table no field should refer field in another table.
Did anybody create delta for master data for further loading within BW or came across similar issue with key figures, please let me know the best procedure in this scenario? Appreciate your quick response.

In your master data attribute have a date field which will be filled by the R/3 load as sy-datum - then create an export datasource and in the infopackage - give a selectoion for the date field as sy-datum and sy-datum -1..
Not exactly a delta but then usually master data is not kept as delta because the volumes are usually less - you can achieve delta by this method...

Automatic date update in Pages for iPad

I want the date (date feild?) in a Pages for iPad letter template to update automatically (using the system date, like other word process application) but cannot see how to do this. This automatic date update appears to work in the Pages for iPad templates examples. i.e open a letter template and the date field shows the correct date, do the same with the same template 24 hours later and the date is shown correctly accordingly. I believe feature is achieved in the Mac version of Pages by setting up a date field. I would like to do the same with Pages iPad. Any ideas how this can be achieved?

Unable to collect Update/Transfer rules Info & Data sources from BI content

Hi,
We are tyring to activate Infoprovider 0PY_CO2 from BI content by selecting the option - In data before. BI is unable to collect all corresponding objects such as Update rules, Info source, transfer rules and the data source for the selected Infoprovider. Only Info area and associated info objects are being collected for the installation.
We are experiencing same problem whilst acitvating most of the info providers. However, in some cases, either of these objects get activated but not all the necessary objects that feed data to the Infoprovider (cube or multi provider).
Also, Infopackages and Info object catalogs are not being collected for any objects activated/installed so fare from the BI content.
We are trying to activate BW 3.5 content on the BI 7.0 environment. BI Content release is 703 and support pack level is 008.
Kindly share any pointers to troubleshoot this probelm please.

For some Info providers, all associated info objects(including transfer & update rules and info source and data sources) are getting collected and got successfuly installed. But this is true for only 10% of the Info providers that we have installed so far.
Remaining all the objects, we are unable to proceed further.
