Automatic database activation

hi,
Suppose we have two mailbox servers: Node 1 and Node 2 in a DAG with two databases: A and B.
A is mounted on node 1 and B is mounted on node 2.
Now Node 2 suffers a hardware failure, a windows failure or lost its connectivity to databases (their databases are located in SAN for instance); will the passive copy of database A located on Node 2 get automatically mounted or I need to run some command?

Hi ,
As per your scenario , database A will remain mounted on the node 1 because we have faced the failure only on node 2.
On node 2 we have only one active copy which is called database B.So during failure database B will get automatically mounted on the node 1 unless the database copy B doesn't have any database level activation block.
Thanks & Regards S.Nithyanandham

I have tried to setup the automate database shutdown by following Oracle Manual. When rebooting the Unix system(sun solaris 2.6), nothing could be recorded in the alert logfile. After manually starting up the database, alert logfile indicated always a crash recovery during the process.
Any suggestion will be appreciated on above problem!

    Hi,
Below is the information from orclALRT.log:
There's a write/open error. At July 21, 21:00PM our backup is start to run.
Is it because the backup software locked some oracle's files ?
But after the error, the next morning July 22 the ORACLE instance is started with no error, even though user can't connect to the database.
    TIA

  • Font Book Automatic Font Activation

    Hello
I have been happily using Automatic Font Activation from font book for quite long time. Today i noticed that feature absolutely died. Did not heal cleaning caches, restarting ATS Server via ATSUtil in Terminal command line. Simply feature stop to work and i did not really change anything.
Please anyone could help me fix it?
Do not suggest me any 3rd party apps i just liked it way it was before it stop working
If that help, problem occurs only on my Mac Pro. All seem to work fine on my Macbook Pro

    You've done your trouble shooting!
Try repairing disk permissions. It can fix a myriad of problems.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

  • Active/Standby failover automatic primary active

I have 2 ASAs 5510 with same physical configuration and running ok with active/standby failover mode. Like we have PREEMPT command in active/active failover to get back primary active after its been rebooted from failed mode. This command makes primary back to active and makes secondary firewall standby automatically.
Need help to know any such command for active/standby failover for automatic primary active. Currently we have to use command FAILOVER ACTIVE on primary to make it active manually.

Remember, failover in ASA works differently than HSRP. ASA does NOT use
HSRP. Furthermore, there is NO HSRP ip address in ASA either. You are
    talking about two different technologies.
Think of it this way. HSRP technology works very similar to VRRP and
Juniper NSRP. All of these technologies use virtual IP address. If you
have two devices, you will have an Virtual IP address, in addition
to the physical ip addresses of the two devices. ASA does not use the
    extra VIP.

  • Copy project description (defined in WBS Level 2) automatically to activity

    Hi Gurus,
How to copy project description (defined in WBS Level 2) automatically to activity name/description?
    For example:
WBS element (Level 2): "Telephone System Replacement"
When create a new Activity, the description will be: "Telephone System - xxxxxxxx"
The first 16 characters "Telephone System" from the WBS Level 2 are automatically populated to Activity Short Text field.
    How to realize that?

    Thanks Virendra!
I am new to PS, could you please explain in more detail?
In OPSN, I am not sure which one to choose: Network Header or Network Activity, for my case. Looks like there are no standard substitution fields available. Could you please check it out for me? If no, how to use an exit? Is this exit the same as a user exit used for enhancement?
Sorry, so many question marks. You help will be greatly appreciated!

  • Database Activity Tracking

    Hey Gang,
I need to track the User and table activity. My goal is to find out what tables are static and which are not. Which user classes should be changed and how access should be assigned. This will also allow me to tune the database accordingly.

Instead of trying to track individual user and table usage look at statspack for issues related to tuning the database. Generally unless you really did a poor job laying out and configuring your db to begin with the db does not need much tuning. The SQL is another story.
    Look into the following
ver 9+ monitor command in DBA Admin, SQL manual
ver all Audit command in DBA Admin manual, SQL manual
ver 8.1+ Db event triggers (logon) DBA Concepts and Admin

does anyone know how to automatically configure the discovered databases by a certain management agent? It's really annoying to enter the password for the dbsnmp user again and again.
