Automatic Deletion of Events In Calender

I use the calender on the iphone to set up events, but that's all. I don't use iCal on my macbook pro.
My question is, is there a setting that I can turn on that would automatically get rid of an event that I placed on the calender? I mean I set up all these events like 2 weeks ago, and they still show up on the calender.
So do I have to manually go to each event, go to edit, and then delete? That's just a pain in the (*#Q$*%

If you sync calendar events with iCal, this would be possible.
There is a preference setting to not sync events older than XX days.

How to automatically delete iCal events

I've finally gotten to a "technical place" where I have an iMac, MacBook Pro, iPad, and iPhone for my wife and I. Life is good!!
I've made the switch to iCloud and now manage my calendar on all devices, but I can't seem to find how to set up my calendar to automatically delete old events.
I would assume that events that were created as the "start" of a repeating event should not be deleted, but those events that I create as non-repeating have little or no value to remain.
Is there a way to have iCal automatically delete events in the past?

Log into iCloud.com, open the Web App Calendar, click on the Prefereces cog, and make the appropriate selections in "Advanced."

I am not sure how this works but it seems that it may be all or nothing.
To turn off Facebook events on your device:
Settings > Facebook > Calendars > Off

Why have deleted iCal events suddenly reappeared in my calender?

Assistance needed please for an iCal issue on Snow Leopard (iMac).
A bunch of formerly deleted iCal events have suddenly reappeared in iCal. I thought this would be easily resolved by using Time Machine (external HD) to restore the calendar files to when they were workings ok (a couple of days ago). Although this initially appeared to work, all the previously deleted events have suddenly reappeared.
If I was using iCloud I'd assume it was some kind of syncing issue, but I'm not. Least I can rule that out.

I switched e-mail clients from windows live to thunderbird in mid december to alleviate problems in sending group e-mail. I have thunderbird on a different laptop and the product works flawlessly. I have checked settings and there are no evident features that I can switch on or off with that time frame. This has occurred 3 times since December and I have resorted to printing e-mails to prevent loss of data.

Log into your account at the providers web mail page and look for any retention options that might be there. Do not put too much into what their help desk tells you. Most help desk agents are lucky to know that the ringing sound means to answer the phone.

Apple does tell you about required equipment for the iPhone -- in 8 point medium gray type on a light gray box. go to settings>mail contacts and calenders> check and see if your calender is on under your email.. if so it is probably syncing to your emails calender and not the calender app on your phone..

Realize an automatic import of events to ical

I have a question. We have our own software platform with a calender of golf tournaments.
We want to create an automatic import of events to ical from our own software program so we can post it on the external golf pages of a course.
Does anybody know how to do this or how much effort this is?

They are Java tools that can be used to perform automatic exports of applications which should help you to do what you want to do.

My contacts keep being automatically deleted from my iPhone5. How do I stop this from happening?

yesterday i noticed my contacts were deleted after i took a phone call. i tried to manually re-add but they keep getting automatically deleted after a couple minutes. i restarted, resetted the device to no avail. i even restored from icloud and within an hour most of my contacts were deleted again. please help. i am beginning to get very frustrated.

On your iOS devices, go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Sync (in the Calendars section) and set this to All Events.
Not sure about your Mac. Try going to icloud.com, opening your calendar, clicking on the gear icon on the lower left and choose preferences, then on the Advanced tab make sure you haven't checked Hide Events next to Old Events.

Deleting an event -but keeping fotos

I want to delete an event that was accidentally created. I know deleting an event will delete all the fotos in the event, which I do not want to do. But all those same fotos in the event I want to delete already exist in other events. Those fotos - all of them- are also in other events. So if I delete the event, will those fotos I delete in that event still exist in other events I still have? Or will deleting the event automatically also delete the duplicates of these fotos in other events?

Events are the items you see when you click on "Events" in the iPhoto sidebar on the left.
Photos in events are unique to those events. If you see the same photos in more than one event then you imported the image more than once and have multiple copies.
You can delete the one event and the photos that are in other events will stay where they are.
On a different topic, you shouldn't have to worry about deleting something by accident if you have a backup. Do you have a backup? If not, consider making one soon: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1553

Isync won't allow me to delete and event on my Mobile.

I am trying to delete an all day event from my Sony ericsson Mobile (w910i)
I delete the event on my mobile but when I then try to sync I get an error message saying you cannot delete all day events on the mobile.
Weirdly the event in question does not appear in my iCal.
I have tried deleting all the evens on the phone and then syncing but the event comes back when I re sync.
What is the problem

HT2966 I changed a repeating event and this ****** DELETED 10 events. How to restore this from timemachine backup?

On the iPhone you can change how many times an event is repeated. I changed that number from 10 to 11 and it automatically deleted all my 10 events and replaced the valuable notes with *nothing*.
I do daily backups with timemachine, but cant seem to find a way to restore the events - since I already made a lot of changes today.
next question: is there an ical alternative, which is actually safe to use for business?

For anyone else that may be in a similar situation, I can confirm that this does actually work.
I am unsure why I was not able to mount the original sparseimage that I copied to the USB drive before, but I have gone through the entire process again and I could successfully mount the TM sparseimage onto my MacBook and restore files from within it using TimeMachine to my Mac.
This is a Disaster Recovery solution only needed for if both my NAS and Macbook get stolen or damaged so I am happy with this solution for now.
I will try the restore process several more times from my monthly backups to reassure myself that the first failure to mount the sparse image was an anomaly.
This is the process that I have tested:
Configure MacBook to backup to TimeMachine Service running on QNAP NAS device.
Perform regular backup of QNAP NAS Device (Linux) including the TimeMachine backup data to an external USB drive with encryption enabled and store this device safely off-site
In time of loss of both NAS and MacBook, Time Machine data can be recovered to another Mac without the need of the NAS using the following process:
Mount the external drive containing the backup of the NAS filesystem (ext4) which is encrypted onto a Linux host so it is readable - use the cryptsetup luksOpen options to access the encrypted filesystem then mount it.
Mount a n empty HFS+ formatted USB drive on the Linux host
Use Rsync to copy the sparsebundle from the external NAS drive backup disk to the root of the USB Drive
Insert the HFS+ formatted USB containing the sparesbundle into the Mac's USB port
Double click the sparsebundle to mount it onto the Mac as a Volume
Using Alt button and the TimeMachine icon, select use alternative backup disk and you should see the TM backup in the sparsebundle
Enter TimeMachine and you should be able to restore any/all files
