Automatic Document Feeder doesn' pick up sheets to be scanned or copied

Scan and copy works well from glass; despite cleaning ADF, turning off printer, removing power cord from printer, and printer power cord from wall for 60 seconds, ADF still doesn't work. Printing in B&W and Color work ok.
iMac (Intel) from 2008 running updated OS 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard).
Further suggestions?

I see that you are having an issue with the adf not working.
I also see that you have attempted some power resets on the unit with no luck as pulling the power cable from the wall outlet and letting it sit for some time.

Acrobat 10 not Scanning all Pages from ADF (Automatic Document Feeder)

Acrobat 10 does not scan all of the pages from the Automatic Document Feeder from an attached scanner, and only scans some of the pages. The ADF works fine with the built-in Windows 7 Scan and Fax, as well as with HP's software, but it just won't work with Adobe Acrobat for whatever reason. The scanners that we are using are brand new, and the model is: LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276mw. The issue has been duplicated on four computers and two scanners, in a Windows 7 x64 Enterprise environment. Thank you for the suggestion! We wound up figuring out a way to make their "full feature" software (which does include the TWAIN drivers) install mostly silently, and install only if they've connected the device locally to their computer, as noted in the other post that was submitted a few minutes ago. I really appreciate all of the help that you’ve given us!
In order to duplicate the WIA driver issue, use only the “HP LaserJet Pro 200 Color M276 PCL6 Print Driver (no installer)” (LJ-Pro-200-color-MFP-M276-driver-only-13170.exe) driver package. This driver only package doesn’t appear to have any of the files you mentioned in your previous post in the Scan_App folder for the TWAIN functionality (but those files are available in the “full feature” setup). We copied the entire “driver-only” folder to our plug and play driver folder, and the drivers automatically install. Once they get installed, there isn’t a TWAIN option anywhere to be found in any scanning application, just the WIA driver as far as I can tell. Adobe Acrobat 10 when using the ADF then skips some pages when scanning.
However, now that you’ve found the install files for the TWAIN driver for the scanner, this should be a non-issue for people as they can just install those and use TWAIN instead, so thank you!
Also, I find it rather amusing that you were able to help us with what appears to be an HP issue far better and faster than HP did or could. We spoke with seven people at HP, and not a single one of them pointed us in any useful direction or provide us with any useful information on the matter; had we followed any of their advice we would have lost countless hours (one person suggested taking the scanners apart and thoroughly cleaning the rollers, even though it was clearly stated they work fine from a hardware perspective with the full feature software installed and that they are brand new). So anyway, thank you. If you require anything else from us, let me know.

Photosmart 7525 won\'t pick up paper from the Automatic Document Feeder

Just bought this printer from Costco. The Automatic Document Feeder won't work. Chime indicates that paper is inserted, but there is no pickup. 1 page or more, won't pull paper through.

Sorry that you are experiencing an issue with the ADF. Sometimes it may need cleaning or rollers need wiped. I understand with this being a new printer, you should not have those problems. I have a message saying there is a jam in the automatic document feeder even though there is no pape

I have an HP Color Laserjet CM2320fxi MFP. The message is "document jam - open auto sheet feeder door and clear", but there is no paper. I have even disconnected the scanner unit and still getting the same message. Is this a software issue and can the machine be software reset? I have done the screen reset without success. I don't think a replacement lid with document feeder would resolve the issue. Thanks

Scanning multiple pages into one document with an automatic document feeder

when using automatic document feeder to scan in multiple pages - using the Image Capture app, this process does not work for more than 2 pages. However works perfectly in PC environment.
Using a MacBook Pro with 10.8.4 and a Lexmark Interpret 405S All In One Scanner.
Is there any other all in one device that can perform this function in a Mac environment?
Please advise.

I see by your post that you would like to know how to scan multiple pages into one file. I would like to help you out today.
From the HP Scan Software, click on the link for Advanced Settings, then uncheck Create a separate file for each scanned page.
Here is a URL for how to scan and change the settings. Just select your operating system.

LaserJet Pro 300 color MFP automatic document feeder - page stops feeding with 1" to go

Scan page won't finish feeding when using the automatic document feeder. Leaves approximately the last 1 to 2 inches of paper in the scanner. The Scan ADF Paper Jam error message pops up. Seems like the page hangs/gets stuck once the page passes through the document feeder roller assembly. Haven't been able to find any information on what moves the paper through the scanner once it gets past this roller assembly.

Which multifunction Laser printer (MFP) for Lion? - need multipage scanning through automatic document feeder

Hi all,
I'd love to get your advice on what MFP laser printer to buy.
I need:
- Laser color PRINTING for a small business (+/- 1500 pages per month)
- SCANNING, preferably easy multipage scanning through the automatic document feeder
Optionally:
- 2nd paper feed tray
I think of buying the HP Color LaserJet CM2320fxi, but there seem to be plenty of compatibility issues with Lion (e.g. scan to network folder does not work on Lion).
I'd love to hear about success or failure of MFP on Lion from HP, Brother, Xerox, Lexmark, etc...

I can recommend the Canon MF8380C. It has a document feeder that supports duplex scanning to Lion, either via Image Capture or Preview or 3rd party application like Acrobat Pro. You can also push scan documents from the machine by first configuring the scan settings using the Canon MF Toolbox that gets installed on the Mac.
The print quality is good for office documents, but not that accurate for colour proofing. It uses Canon's proprietary UFR2 v2.30 driver of which the Lion version of this driver is available from the Canon web.
As for the monthly volume, 1500 pages per month is the maximum recommended volume, so not sure if this would suit your business needs. It's recommended monthly volume is 800 colour pages.

The ADF is used to automatically feed a number of pages for scanning, copying or faxing. Paper is loaded into the ADF with the printed side facing up. When you then copy (or scan or fax) the pages will be automatically pulled into the scanner mechanism one at a time and then deposited in the output tray.

Photosmart 7510 Automatic Document Feeder. will it copy a doublesided odd size?

I have a Photosmart 7510 . I have never used the Automatic Document Feeder and could not find anywhere online how to use it. I want to know if I can put in a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 picture from a funeral and have it copy both sides so it will look like a card.. all on one like the original.

For copying the size that you want through the ADF is not support. According to the specifications the largest photo tray size is 5x7, and using the main ADF would cause a paper jam.
I have included the document here for 'Copying a Multipage Original'. I have tried steps on the 7510 that I do have and was able to successfully copy on both sided.
I have also included those steps here for you.
1) Place the item on the scanner glass
2) Press the Copy button
3) Press the Settings button in the bottom left
4) Make sure that 2 sided copy is turned ON
5) Press Start
6) Follow the on screen instructions of loading the second page/ or flip the paper over and continue

Printing problems when using automatic document feeder (HP Photosmart 309C)

When I print using the normal paper trays, everything comes out fine. However, when I feed a document through the automatic document feeder, it comes out with four vertical lines running down the page. I have tried cleaning the rollers, but that has not worked. Anyone have any ideas/solutions? Thanks in advance, Jack.

I see that this post was made in June of 2010, but there was no reply. I found the solution elsewhere:
Lift the scanner lid. You will see the main glass and a small glass about the width of a ruler. There are a couple of dots of debris on that small glass. Line up the lines to find them and clean with a bit of glass cleaner on a rag or napkin. The reason a small dot makes a line is the paper passes by the scanner with adf rather than the scanner passing by the paper on flatbed scans.

AUTOMATIC DOCUMENT FEEDER LEAVING LINES

Every time I use to automatic feeder to scan I get 3 lines printing down all the pages. I've cleaned everything inside and changed the ink cartridge and it's still printing random lines on all the pages. What do I need to do to solve this?

I see that you are experiencing issues when scanning from the ADF, you are getting 3 lines printed on the page. I would like to help you resolve this issue.
We have to find out if it is a toner issue or a issue with the ADF.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
Does the scanned image show the 3 lines also or just when they are printed out?
Do you have the same issue when scanning from the glass?
Make a copy to see if you have the same results.
I have provided a couple of documents for cleaning the glass and platen and the ADF rollers and the separator pad.
Copies, Faxes, or Scans Have Vertical Black or White Lines through the Output.
Please disregard the title and model number, go to Step three: Clean the scanning glass and platen.
'Document feeder mispick' Message Displays on the Control Panel and the ADF Does Not Pick Up Paper o... Disregard the title and model number, go to Solution two: Clean the ADF rollers and the separator pad.
If you are having this issue printing any text document, try this document.
Fixing Print Quality Problems for the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M126a, M127fn and M127fw Printer Series.
Are you using Genuine HP Toner?

HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus AIO automatic document feeder paper jam.

While scanning a smaller document using the ADF, it got jammed in the feeder. While recovering the document, a corner of the document got torn and got stuck in the document feeder. Now, every time I use the feeder to scan a document again, that document gets jammed because of a little chunk of paper that's still stuck in the feeder. I tried carefully with a toothpick to grab the little chunk of paper, but I can't get a hold on it. Is there any way to open the feeder a little more? Not just only the top lid of the feeder? Or are there any other ideas as to resolve my issue?

I understand you have done all the troubleshooting steps and the ADF is still not picking up paper on your OfficeJet 8600 Plus. I would like you to try and reset the paper sensor inside the ADF, please follow the steps listed below:
1. Open the ADF top cover
2. Locate the ADF paper sensor inside the top cover. (See image below)
3. Make sure that the paper sensor hangs freely from the ADF top cover, and that the sensor parts are not broken, dislodged, or stuck.
4. Close the ADF top cover.
Please let me know if this was able to resolve the paper pick problem, if it is still now picking up the paper from the ADF please let me know and I will send you a private message.

Error message "Reload original in the automatic document feeder (ADF) and try again."

My all-in-one HP Officejet 8600 plus continues to get the subject error message whether I use the document feeder or scan on the glass. It started right after a document pulled in sideways in the document feeder and got caught. I was able to pull it out complete. It did not tear or shred, just crinkled up. I can still get a copy made from the document scanner, but not one from the scanner bed. When scanning from the document feeder to the PC, this message prevents me from getting the document on the PC. I do a lot of scanning and need this feature to work. When scanning from the glass bed, this message prevents me from getting the copy.
I have cleaned all the rollers, scanner bed, and anything that I could see. I have checked all places on the top, inside the document feeder, in between the rollers, under the document feeder, also in the rollers, inside the cartridge compartment, and in the back collating department for any clogs and/or pieces of paper or debris. There is none. I have made sure the printer was reset to factory defaults. I also unplugged the printer cord from the printer and wall socket and let stand for at least 60 seconds to be sure there was a proper reset this way. And one other thing I checked was to be sure that I could not reset the printer in any way from my PC which I could not. As you can see, I checked everything that I could but to no avail.
My warranty ran out 1 1/2 months ago and I cannot afford to buy another printer since everything else seems to be working great. Can anyone give me something else to look at that will fix this problem? Oh, before I forget, I can still print from the PC just find, I just cannot get document to show up on PC because this error prevents me. Thank you very much for any suggestions.

HP 7525 Automatic Document Feeder Scanning error

When I try to scan to computer using the ADF it scans the page(s) I have inserted, then continues looking for another page. It will then pop up a message saying page or document missing from ADF and will cancel the scan. This has been happening since I installed the printer. Scanning from the flatbed works fine, but one page at a time.
Any suggestions?
