Automatic download and creation of volume license installers

Every time there is a new update of LabVIEW we typically hunt down the installation disks from ni.com as soon as they are available, and start the process of making volume license installers...(Or, if the update seems less exciting, we wait patiently for the shipped DVDs).
I wish it the whole provcess could be made smoother. Based on the volume license installers we have, the VLM could simply subscribe to newer versions. When 2014 comes out, the package would automatically go out to all the VLMs out there, and new volume license installers would pop up on our local VLM as soon as the software was ready...OR, alternatively, the VLM could be hosted by NI instead (possibly supported by a local VLM for offline use), so that the process of creating new installers were really done by NI (or automatically by NI hardware that is) based on whatever setup we as VLM admins had chosen...and the source material from NI.
(This idea came about as a side note to this related discussion about LabVIEW cloud services).

  • How to prevent automatic download and install of Reader 8.1.2

    Hi-
I have Adobe Reader 7.0.9 and I need to keep it as my default Adobe reader program and plug-in for some applications that I use.
Over the last week, Adobe reader 8.1.2 downloads automatically and installs itself in my business laptop (Win XP SP2) and replaces my 7.0.9 version.
Each time I uninstall the 8.1.2 and reinstall the 7.0.9. I ensure the option of automatic download and install is disabled in 7.0.9.
But it still happens I have for the xth time today the new 8.1.2 in my laptop.
Anybody knows what is going on ? And how can I solve this issue to keep my 7.0.9 version ?
    Thanks.

That's *not* a good thing to hear.
After the download finishes, do NOT press the Install Now button. Try the following to remove the download from the device. Here's the procedure I came up with last time this happened with iOS 7...It may or may not work.
Re: Apple Forced iOS7 update on my iPad2 !
Afterwards if you succeed, block Apple's update server using the following method so it wont get pushed to the device again:
In your router's settings, set up a block (using Access Restrictions or similar in the router's web interface) to mesu.apple.com. This will prevent the devices from "phoning home" to Apple, checking for the update and getting the download pushed to it again.
Or follow the instructions at this link:

Grrrrr. This needs a solution. I have a portable wifi account I use for teaching (mainly Apple devices) and when traveling. It updates my download capacity in 1gb chunks at $10 each. Just traveling at the moment, and this coincides with Apple updates. Three devices, @ 2 odd gb ea, all deciding to update while I drive. By the time I got the update notices from Optus, all three devices had downloaded the updates and were waiting for me to press install. I don't mind installing, but I don't want to pay $60 for the downloads thru this account. I think Apple owes me $60. There's no reason they can't set a restriction on this type of download for user nominated accounts. This is a significant issue for a lot of people. Please Apple,

  • How do I download and install the second license?

I bought iWork Family pack last year (downloadable version). To download it to my mac I needed to download the trial version and then input my Key number. Now I have bought a macbook and I want to put iWork on it but the download trial version is no longer active on Apple. This is where I would have previously put my purchase code. Does anyone know how to download and install the second license?

Since the original poster (like myself) already had a Mac with iWork 9 on it... networking (or copying the files below to a thumb-drive) and installing into the Mac without should work just fine.

Worked well for me this evening after spending an hour and 14 minutes + with four levels of AppleCare to try to arrange a download of the three-app package.
They are sending a CD with the apps.

In Firefox preferences/advanced/update uncheck download and automatically install updates. Instead check ask me what to do.

  • Deploy CC Download Manager with active volume license key

    Hello.
In our organization we have a volume license with 145 seats.
Is it possible to remotely deploy the download manager and somehow already activate the volume license key?
I looked at the CC packager, but for our users there would be too many combinations of packages and everything in one package is also not an option.
I found no way to activate the volume license key on a Adobe ID.
    thanks for any advice.
    P

    Hi Abhjit,
We are indeed an Enterprise customer, and i have been looking at the creative packager application. But if we use pre-activated packages i would have to make around 20 different combinations (mix of video editing, photo editing, recording, flash packages etc etc). Which would make the maintenance impossible.
I would prefer to ONLY install the Download Manager on everyone's computer, and let them choose which packages they actualy need without the need to enter the volume license key.
If i install the download manager, and only ONE packaged application (for example Photoshop), would all the other applications automaticaly be activated aswell?
Also: It's not possible to activate a volume license key on a Adobe ID right?
    thx for reading

  • Automatic Downloads and Strange Error Message: "You can auto-download purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days"

    Hi gang-
Yesterday I noticed that iTunes on my iMac had not auto-downloaded several new songs that I had recently purchased on my iPhone.    In iTunes Preferences, under Store -> Automatic Downloads, I always have Music selected so all songs purchased from any device using my Apple ID normally download automatically.
To troubleshoot this, I double-checked my Preferences and sure enough, Music was de-selected under Automatic Downloads.   I then Selected it and clicked OK.   Here's where it gets weird and I get this error message:
This computer is already associated with an Apple ID.  You can auto-download purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days. You cannot associate this computer with a different Apple ID for 84 days.
I read and re-read this message and none of it seems to apply to me.   I have only one Apple ID.   I am currently logged in with iTunes to that one Apple ID.   All my iTunes Music ever has been purchased with that one Apple ID.   I am not trying to associate this computer or any other with a different Apple ID.
I logged iTunes out and then back in again and tried all the above- but same error message.
So, as it is now, I am unable to turn on Automatic Downloads in iTunes.
Anyone know what the heck is going on?
    Thanks!
    Dave

    Hey gang-
Okay, this gets more and more bizarre.   I sent a support email to Apple and basically they said  "...it seems that someone else associated your Mac with their Apple ID. That's the reason your purchases won't download."
Yikes!   My wife and I live alone- and we have exactly one and only one Apple ID.    Would somebody have needed physical access to my iMac to do that?
Support then said "You can view which devices or computers are currently associated, remove unused devices or computers, and see how long before they can be associated with a different Apple ID from the Account Information page in iTunes on your computer."
Okay- so I logged into My Account in iTunes.   On the list of associated devices, my own iMac is NOT on that list.   But I am logged in under the same Apple ID I've had for years on that iMac.
So my big question right now is...if my iMac (that I've owned for 5 years) has somehow been dis-associated from my Apple ID, how do I find out what Apple ID it is associated with?
Thanks gang for trying to help me unravel a mystery.

PS- Here's an Apple Tech article on iTunes associations, but it doesn't really go beyond what we've discussed above:

  • How can I stop Firefox from automatically downloading and installing updates?????? UN-Checking box when installing for auto DOESN"T WORK!!!!

Have many performance problems with latest versions of Firefox.
I remove fFrefox and reinstall 18.0 and everything is fine until Firefox automatically updates to 28.x.
I remove check in box when asked if want Firefox Maintenance installed, but downloads updates anyway and next time I bring-up then problems are back!!!
I have to start over again and never X Firefox.
I just want the basic Firefox - simple, FAST and WORKS !!!
Never liked IE - but may have to go back to it.
Chrome is also automatic download update.
using XP, but may have to rethink
    Thanks for any help.

What kind of problems do you have with the Firefox 28 release?
Did you check your security software (firewall, anti-virus) to make sure that the new version in allowed?
It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
    See:
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Firewalls
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/fix-problems-connecting-websites-after-updating
You can create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.
    See "Creating a profile":
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem

  • Automatic Downloads and Song Order

    Hi,
I have automatic downloads enabled on my iPhone 4 so songs I buy on my computer are automatically synced with the phone over the air right after I buy them.  Great feature.
Here's the problem: when I buy a song on my computer, it puts it at the top my purchased playlist (little arrow is pointing down in the top left corner), thus organizing the songs putting newest at the top.  This is how I want my playlist to appear so I don't have to scroll down through 450+ songs to get to my newest ones.  Despite everything working fine when I buy a new song (it goes to the top just like I want), when it automatically downloads to my phone, it puts it at the very bottom, i.e. right after my oldest-purchased song.
This is super-annoying because of the way I play my music in my car.  The problem is fixed once I do a sync via the cable, it re-orders the song correctly to the "top" of my playlist, but shouldn't an automatic syncing be smart enough to put the song in the correct place like it does on my computer?
Thanks for any help!  Hopefully this is fixed when iCloud is fully up and running but I figured I'd ask if anyone had a brilliant solution or even just had the same problem.

  • Automatic download and install of app updates

Is there a way of setting iTunes to download and install updates to existing apps. At the moment, if I am travelling, I come back and there are 20 or 30 apps to update

I'm sorry, but you can't install updates automatically. You have to open iTunes and install these updates manually, and there isn't a workaround for this

  • How do i turn off automatic download and make it stay off

I use the preferences in ITUNES to turn off automatic down loads and every time i start iTunes it  tries to force me to sign to an ICLOUD account and automatic download. • HT4915 My iPod touch will not let me turn off automatic downloads and match is clogging up everything will downloads that I don't want. Help!

After getting the match program my iPod is trying to download my entire library from the cloud. I have too much music and not enough space so it is constantly running trying to download and I haven't figured out a way to stop the downloads so that I can get what I want. When trying to deselect the automatic downloads it slides back to on. Is there a way to stop this madness? I can't even listen to what music I do have on it.

Having automatic downloads on does not cause iTunes Match to automatically download your Match library to your device.  It only causes new purchases made on another device with the same ID to automatically download to your device.
Try turning off iTunes Match on your device, then turn it back on.  If it's still downloading unwanted media, go to Settings>iTunes & App Store, tap your ID, sign out, then sign back in.
