Automatic Download Not Working

I just purchased a bunch of albums from the iTunes store on one of my 3 authorized computers. For the first time since I've been purchasing from the store, I was asked whether I wished to automatically download new purchases made on other devices. This sounded like a great idea, so I said "yes".
I got home, thinking this would make it much easier to manage music (in the past I would download songs on one computer, copy the individual song files to a thumb drive, then transport them to my other 2 computers and manually drag them to the iTunes accounts in these two computers). Nothing happended on my home computer. So I went to iTunes Preferences > Store Preferences, and checked the box for Automatic Downloads for Music and Apps, as well as "always check for automatic downloads".
However, despite all this, the songs are still nowhere to be seen on my home computer. I've right clicked on Store>Purchased in iTunes, and chosen "Check for Available Downloads" and I get a reply that says, "All purchases have been downloaded for this account".
Does anyone have any advice how to get this automatic download function to work for all authorized computers??? Thank you!
Mac OS X version 10.6.8
iTunes 10.4.1 (10)

Both device has automatic download on.

  • Automatic Downloads not working in ios7

After updating to ios 7 automatic downloads not working. It is enabled in settings but new content purchased in iTunes store on MacBook or iMac not automatically downloading onto iPhone. Any idea why? I have checked and "Automatic Downloads" is turned on in Settings > iTunes & App Store...

I had the same problem with no automatic downloads of purchased Apps ...PLUS... I still recieved message "to use push notifications connect to itunes"
I found solution worked for me:
1- go to "Icloud keychain".  (Under settings----> Icloud).  go there and ENABLE it.  It will ask for passcode and so on.  so once enabled
2- restart your phone (normal power off)
3- reactivate imessage and facetime. (need a few minutes to reactivate)
    4- ALL WORKING  ;-)

  • Gwen Stefani Pre-Order single automatic download not working

Gwen Stefani Pre-Order offers to download a single track now and then the rest later when the album is released.
Ordered the pre-order but the track didnt download.
Now on my THIRD reply to try and get apple support to understand what is happening, so far I have a one track credit and told to download the song...only problem...its a pre-order you cannot download the song.
Why do apple employ people in iTunes support that dont know how iTunes works?
Why am I on my THIRD reply to explain the same problem?
Why am I wasting my time?
Exaspirated at having to fight apple these days, maybe i'll go back to microsoft, it all seems to be much of a muchness at times!
As you can tell this latest problem is only the tip of the iceberg in recent months and its beginning to wear me down.

Support appear to have gone into a huddle and promised me a reply once they sort it out.
Guess we arent the only ones to complain.
Maybe as this is the international version someone lazily copied the US version of the page and didnt notice that bit of text with the promise and therefore it was never setup in the UK store or elsewhere?
    Just a hunch

    cor-el,
Thanks for your prompt reply. However, the sources you gave do not seem to apply exactly to my situation. I have attached some screenshots that show what the dialogue box looks like for a pdf download, and what my settings in the Apps panel of Options are. You will note in the first screenshot that I have checked the box to handle this file type automatically; however, the next time I try to download a file of that type, the same dialogue box appears looking exactly like the one shown, so checking the "automatic" option appears to do nothing. The files to be downloaded from my Gmail messages are not generic or altered file types - they are shown as pdf, doc, docx, etc. So while your intent was good, your post did not help. Thanks anyway.

  • Download not working shows file damaged.

Download not working.  Shows files damaged or I should covert original to pdf.  Where is original?  When I try even that does not work.  Download is picking location.  Not allowing me to pick location of download.  Very frustrating.

I don't understand your question at all.  Download what?  Is it a download of a trial version of PSE12 from Adobe website.  If so then you can't covert the downloaded file to PDF because it is in binary format.
You need to explain what exactly you are doing.

  • Automatic downloads not automatically downloading new episodes

I can't seem to get the Automatic Download setting to actually work the way that it should.  As far as I know, this setting should automatically download a new podcast episode when available, and with the most recent update to the Podcasts app, we can now restrict that downloading to wi-fi only.  Yippee!!
Problem is that new episodes don't get automatically downloaded, at least not consistently.  When I subscribed to a podcast and set it to automatically download, on wi-fi only, it worked perfectly the next time an episode was released.  But then the following week it did not work.  It did not start downloading until I actually opened the Podcast app and went to that podcast's episode page.
So I tried unsubcribing and resubscribing again, and then the next time a new episode came out - worked just fine.  The next morning the podcast was there and ready to go.  But then the following week again (this past Friday/Saturday), once again, no joy.  It did not download the episode until I opened the app and looked at that podcast's episode list just now.
So what is the deal?  Is this yet another bug with this crappy implementation of a podcast app?  I really would love to use Downcast instead, I really would, but Downcast does not store the podcast files in the same place as other media on my phone, which means it's not available when I scroll thru the menus when connected to my car stereo.  My car stereo only accesses media files in the normal location, UNLESS it's playing before I connect it.  But that's a pain, trying to remember to go into Downcast and play an episode before I connect the phone in my car.
Can anything be done about this, or am I not doing something correctly with the iOS Podcast app?

I get the following message every time I go to download Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck and have no idea why iTunes would care how many shows I have listened to. For the heck of it I deleted a bunch of them but still can't get that infernal "!" to leave!
    Exclamation point
Next to a song: The song can’t be located; it may have been moved or deleted.
Next to a podcast: Recent episodes haven’t been downloaded because you have multiple unplayed episodes.

  • Pod Casts - auto downloading not working

On a WIN7 PC, running ITunes v12.0.1.26 I subscribe to multiple Pod Casts.
    All are marked to
    Subscribe = ON
    Limit Episodes = NO
    Download Episodes = ON
    Delete Played Episodes = ON
Only the first pod cast in the list is following these rules.
The other pod casts do not auto download.
If I hit the REFRESH button, it shows that the last update was in 12/2014, when I manually downloaded the latest updates for that pod cast.
    Any ideas?

I finally solved this by changing the Auto-Lock settings. Mine were set to Auto Lock in 2 minutes. I changed the setting to 15 minutes and my New Yorker Magazine downloaded without incident -- although it took much more than 15 minutes. (I now suspect that my prior setting was the reason my Newsstand publications never downloaded automatically.) I have now reset Auto-Lock to "Never" to test whether that works in the future for automatic downloads --basically because my DSL speed is not optimum.

  • Automatic downloads only works with one Mac user account, can I get help?

I have three user accounts on my iMac, and I set up iTunes Automatic downloading on my iTunes account on my iMac user account. Then I went to set up my brothers iTunes automatic download on his iMac user account but it said the computer was already in use, and gave me options like transfer or cancel. Just to clarify this was an attempt with one iMac two user accounts and two separate iTunes accounts.

It appears we are all having the same issue, and for themost part talking about the same thing, but to reiterate:
    1) One (1) computer, to help distinguish the devices letscall it an iMac
    2) Two (2) or more distinct User ID’s on said iMac with fullAdmin permissions
    3) Each distinct User ID on the iMac has a distinct Apple IDwith an associated iTunes and iCloud account
    4) For every User ID / Apple ID there is a separate personwith their own iDevice
    5) None of the iTunes accounts, iDevices or Apple ID’s arecross sync’d
        5) (a) Forexample, Person 1 does not share apps, etc. with Person 2’s iTunes account. Weare assuming everyone distinct Apple ID / iDevice buys its own App’s, musicetc.
    6) Only one (1) of the iMac User ID’s and that User ID’sassociated iTunes and iCloud account can have auto-download and iCloud servicesactivated at any one time.
    6) (a) Just to be redundantly clear, that means that every other User ID / iTunes – iCloud ID/ iDevice CANNOTauto-download or sync to iCloud
Somewhat reformed PC guy here (wife is a life long Macuser), but all I can say is are you (*&^%$%^&* kidding me?
If I wanted these problems, and didn’t care about aestheticsor battery life, I would have stuck with Win-crap / Android for 50% or less ofthe cost.
Besides my preference for the Win-Devil UI (I know, I know…)I cannot believe after spending more than $4,500 on iFleecing this summer I amstill having issues like this (Mac Air, iMac, iPhone 4- two and the buy-out oftwo cell contracts).
Granted, when I plug something in, it works… the way Stevethinks I should want it to function.
In the hopes of avoiding some iFlogging by my fellow usershere, I concede the superiority, in every conceivable way, of all of thehardware and even like the MS Office suite in Mac better (at least not less). Ihave no intention of going back to the Win-Devil (don’t even run an emulator oneither computer), but this is a Windows-like screw-up.

  • Automatic downloads not showing up in itunes

both iTunes and my iPhone 4 are setup for automatic download but when I download an app it doesn't show in my iTunes app section. At first I had no issues but now its not working. Also, is there certain times that the "over the air" syncing works?

    saustin7 wrote:
The new apps that I have on my iPhone is not more than an inconvienience, beccause I can buy them again and just send to the app store copies of the two receipts and get my money back,
    Doesn't  happen that way.
If you are logged in with the same account the apps were originally purchased with, you do not get charged a 2nd time.  Hence no reason to request a refund that will never happen anyways.
If you are logged in with a different account, then you would be charged for the apps.
Purchases are tied to the account they were purchased with for eternity.
