Automatic Headphone Detection is working backwa

Hello,
When I plug my headphones into the front port of my computer with the "automatic detection" turned on, the computer doesnt mute my speakers, and goes to 2. speaker mode, when i unplug the headphone with this setting on, my speakers mute and my sound is set to headphone mode, its as if its working completely inverse of how i want it to.
Ive tryed correcting the settings with the headphones in to what i want but it seems to always revert to some default 2. speaker mode and no speaker(the main/big speakers)?muting.
I really wish i could figure this out its a pain to have to open the console everytime i use headphones and change a bunch of settings.

I have some additional info, if that might get anyone to help us out?
When running the creative diagnostic, during the speaker test, you can select "headphones", "2/2. Speakers", "4/4. Speakers" and so on.
Well, the first three are kinda switched around. The first is 2/2. Speaker, but the image that shows what speaker its testing shows a headphone. The second selectable configuration is 4/4. Speakers, but the image shows 2 speakers. The third selectable is "headphones", but the image shows 4 speakers. When i test it, I can hear from the delay that it tries to send sound through 4 different speakers when headphone is selected. So there is someting about the software that has gotten switched around, and i have tried uninstalling everuthing and reinstalling fresh drivers. But it doesnt make any difference.
I have tried just about everything now. I cant get the card to work correctly. Help?
p.s. Is it just me that cant download the drivers from this site? It just times out, and have done so the last three days. I found the drivers at another site. I just find it strange that the manufacturer cant provide drivers themselves.

  • Xi-Fi Fatality - Headphone detection stops work

    Hey guys!
First of all, greetings from Portugal, and sorry for my possible bad english.
The Automatic Headphone detection, stoped working on my xi-fi, with no reason at all.
I plug the jack in and... nothing happens. A few hours ago, it was working perfectly, and everything was excelent during the 2 month that I own it. no popping sounds, no bugs, but now.. this! I?ve checked everything, plugged all the cables again, and now it is really starting to anoy me, because i love this feature, and it is because off all this little things that we pay a lot of money to get this kind of product.
    I?de apreciate some feedback. thanks.
PS: I?m using the bluetooth Creative heaphones, and they are working fine.

Tuguese: Estou mesmo a remover tudo de base, paciencia... mas n percebo como pode tal acontecer.
Mesmo que fique tudo direito, quem garante que daqui por uns dias nao acontece o msmo?

  • Headphone Detection on xfi gamer not work

When I plug my headphones into the wired remote, all speaker sounds cut off even though the settings are unchecked on the Headphone Detection options.
The "automatically enable headphone settings" box never works whether checked or unchecked,
and the "automatically mute speakers" box always mutes speakers whether checked or unchecked.
How do I get these setting to work properly?
I want to be able to plug my headphones in, but still have sound coming out of the speakers? I have a 7. speaker system, XP pro sp2, and an xfi gamer. The wired remote is cheaply made and started only giving right channel sound after month of use. I had the entire 7. system replaced with all new parts, and don't want the cheap wired remote to break again, so I want to plug an extension cable to the wired remote, and then jack my headphones into the extension cable when I need them, so I need the speakers to not mute when the extension cord is plugged into the wired remote.

those option are meant for use for those ppl soundcard that have those external/internal I/O console. it's not meant to work for your speaker volume remote.

  • How does automatic video detection work?

It used to be that, on my T400, when I would plug in an external monitor, the external would mirror that of my laptop. When I closed my laptop, the screen would automatically calibrate for the external monitor's resolution. And so on. I recently installed catalyst 9.8, and since then, the automatic switching no longer happens. I really have no idea how to go about re-enabling that automatic display detection that seemed to be happening earlier. I'd love to hear any ideas! thanks.

I suppose I could, but I'd prefer to at least have a working hypothesis first before changing things around.  Noone out there knows how this auto vid detection works?

  • Headphone output stopped working (snd-hda, Dell XPS 13)

Update: I got it working! See my second post; I will leave this here as a reference for those with the same problem.
My headphone output stopped working, and my integrated microphone also stopped working. The speakers work fine, though.
AFAIK, I didn't do anything, and am quite baffled as to why this is. It's worked fine for half a year.
I have a Dell XPS 13; it came installed with Ubuntu, I booted that, where it *does* work (just to eliminate hardware problems).
    I'm running 3.16.4-1; I also downgraded to 3.16.3, which didn't help.
I'm testing with speaker-test and mplayer -ao alsa; I normally use PulseAudio, but eliminating that for testing seemed like a sane thing to do. It doesn't work either way.
I also downloaded the hda_analyzer, that has a lot of options, but I'm not sure what most of them mean...
The closest I've been able to get at the problem is this:
    [~]% alsactl monitor
    card 0, #17 (0,0,0,Headphone Mic Jack,0) VALUE
    card 0, #17 (0,0,0,Headphone Mic Jack,0) VALUE
This is an insert & remove of my headphone jack; ALSA does detect something it seems. It's listed as "Headphone Mic Jack", is this right?
Any hints would be greatly appreciated!
    More info:
    [~]% cat /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
    options snd-hda-intel enable=0,1
    options snd-hda-intel model=dell-headset-multi,dell-headset-multi
This is required to get this to work in the first place, and always has worked; I tried some other options, to no avail. the enable=0,1 is to disable the HDMI output (disabling this has no effect either).
    $ cat /sys/module/snd_hda_intel/parameters/model
    dell-headset-multi,dell-headset-multi,(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null), +(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null)
To verify these options are actually being used
    $ id -Gn
martin wheel video audio vboxusers nfs
I'm in the audio group, not sure if this is required, but can't hurt.
    [~]# cat /etc/asound.conf
    # Use PulseAudio by default
    pcm.!default {
    type pulse
    fallback "sysdefault"

Update: I mucked about more after making this post; I installed gnome-alsa-mixer and checked the "internal mic" option and "Auto-Mute mode" (both were off), after this my headphone output works again, and does the built-in microphone (!)
I have no idea how I ended up in this "broken" situation, or even what this option does, or how to use it without gnome-alsa-mixer (I had to install 15 packages to get this, as I normally don't use gnome)... Sound on Linux still seems no better than when I started using it 15 years ago :-( (I spent about 5 hours on this...)

  • Internal speakers and headphones are not working

I have hp g6 2231tx os Windows 8, brought it a month ago..now it's internal speakers and headphones are not working..I enabled in playback device from sound mixer and reinstalled drivers but still not working..it's because of hardware or software??

    Hi,
It could be either Hardware or Software related, so try the following and let me know.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp58501-59000/sp58517.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

  • Use of AUTOMATIC SCENE DETECTION on already existing huge file

Hello to all for the first time,
I have 6 HUGE already imported video files of my videos diary from Himalaya, so they are each 1 hour long files now and to edit the story I need to brake each of those HUGE imported files into individual clips!!!
Of course I can make new smaller clips manualy but my TIME SAVING question here is how can I make iMovieHD AUTOMATIC SCENE DETECTION work on already imported huge file? So that I just play the HUGE file and it automatically brakes the individual clips and makes different files/clips.
    Got it?
Hope somebody into the know will read this.
    Thank you
    Vladan

    Thank you Sue,
Thank you for wellcome, great you want to help.
So I imported all my video (from Hi8 - remember) trough firewire in using iMovieHD ... and that is how I got here where I have those huge documents, each 20 Gigs, on my external drive.
so thats where I am at and I would like to RETROACTIVLY (I quess) use that automatic scene detection and out of one huge file (clip) get say 15 smaller clips.
    Is that clearer
    thanks again

  • My speaker as well as headphones are not working in hp pavillion dm4 1101tx series

my speaker as well as headphones are not working in hp pavillion dm4 1101tx series

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp51501-52000/sp51937.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load.  Open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.
If you still have no audio, open windows Control Panel, open Administrative Tools and open Services.  Check that the following services are all showing as Status= Started and Start-up Type= Automatic
    Audio Service
    Multimedia Class Scheduler
    Windows Audio
    Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
If you need to make a change to any of the above, just right click the service and select Properties, then in the dropdown box next to 'Start-up type',  select Automatic and click Apply to save the change.  Then click the Start button.

  • Automatic Proxy Detection: Curious Issue

I have an issue with the Automatic Proxy Detection in Snow Leopard in that its not consistently detecting the correct settings.
One one of my networks that I manage, Win2k3 with DHCP 252 set to http://wpad/wpad.dat and a DNS CName for WPAD to the server hosting the file I am unable to use automatic detection.
Another network with 10.5 servers, and only an Alias/CName to the server hosting the wpad.dat will work.
Another with a Win2k8 as the main server with just a CName to the server likewise works
I will be testing another Win2k3 server later on to see how it works.
However, entering the path to http://wpad/wpad.dat in the configuration option works successfully until I go home and there is no wpad configuration.
Other machines on the network can successfully use Auto Proxy Detection (Windows & Mac's with Firefox as the browser)
However, on other networks this is setup the same way and it does work.
Has anyone experienced issues with WPAD and Automatic Proxy Detection in SL when moving between networks?

    Resolved.
Removed the DHCP 252 Option forcing the computer to rely solely on DNS for detecting the wpad.dat (and the wpad cname)
If the DHCP & DNS Methods are used it will fail.
If the DNS Method is used, it will succeed

  • Thinkpad x220t Headphone detection issue

    x220t
    Windows 7 Professional
I just got a new motherboard, and now my Thinkpad will does not detect headphones.  When I plug headphones in the jack, no sound comes through the headphones, and sound continues to stream through the built-in speakers.
    Things I've tried:
    - I updated the drivers and the problem persists
    - I checked the SmartAudio settings, including toggling between the classic and multi-stream modes.
    - I opened the box to check the obvious connections -- nothing obvious appears to be disconnected, but I'm not an expert, so I wouldn't know how to check soldering or the like.
    Other notes:
    - There is a USB port next to the headphone jack, which works fine.
    - When I plug in the headphones, I can hear the static sound that results from a cable making it's connection.  This tells me that there is power going to the headphone pins.
    - I've tried both regular 1/8 in XLR stereo headphones and the kind with a built-in microphone, with the same results each time.
At this point, I think it is probably a hardware issue, but I really don't want to put my work machine back in the shop again, so if anyone has an idea, I would love to hear it.
    Thanks!
    Scott

Actually this made me curious, so I checked out my X220, and indeed it worked like you described.
However, I found a way to change that to provide the effect you're looking for.
In Control Panel, click the Smart Audio icon. This will bring up the Smart Audio panel. Click Audio Director, one of the bottom icons. This brings up two choices, Classic & Multi-Stream. Changing to Multi-Stream recognizes the headphones when plugged in, and indeed maintains a different volume level.
    Hope that works for you!

  • [solved] netcfg2 automatic network detection

I had set up automatic network detection a while ago, following the directions in this page of the Arch wiki.  After a recent update, the feature stopped working entirely.  This is the output of the startup script:
    [root@tomato][/etc/network.d][ /etc/rc.d/net-profiles start ][08-11-03-16:00]
    > Profile "auto-wireless" does not exist
    > Profile "wlan0" does not exist
However, if I run "netcfg-auto-wireless wlan0" manually, it finds the network and connects without problems.
In addition, I'd like to have net-profiles autodetect my wired network, which uses WPA supplicant for authentication.  I already have a working WPA config and network profile.  Is there anything I need to add to my /etc/rc.conf?

See: http://www.archlinux.org/news/410/ for recent changes to netcfg. Basically wireless support was broken out of net-profiles into net-auto. The notice and wiki link within has the details.

  • After updating with iTunes 12.1 for Windows 8.1, when I restarted my computer, my headphones no longer work. According to my computer they do. Is this an iTunes issue?

After updating with iTunes 12.1 for Windows 8.1, when I restarted my computer, my headphones no longer work. According to my computer they do. Is this an iTunes issue? I did the audio troubleshooting and it says everything is fine. I have a Toshiba Satellite L75D-A7280.

Download/install an app is a know possible solution.
    3. Install another app from the App Store
If all user-installed apps are not launching, it could be an Apple ID authorization issue. Download and install an app that isn't already installed on your device to reset this information.
Note: If you have installed apps using multiple Apple ID accounts, you may need to perform this step for each account.

  • Why do regular stereo mini jack headphones no longer work in macbook pro

I have a macbook pro (2009) v10.9.5, 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo. Lately normal non apple stereo mini jack headphones no longer work. The jack doesn't cut the speaker sound as normal. It wasn't like this until comparatively recently. Apple iphone headphones do work.. is this a software or hardware problem?

That is odd.  Try a NVRAM reset:
