Automatic IMAP email retrieval not disconnecting o...

Hiya
Have setup an IMAP mailbox with a 15 minute auto mail retrieval on my N95. Unfortunately, after it's checked for new emails for the first time it never seems to disconnect from the server and constantly maintains the GPRS/3G connection, sucking battery big style.
Is there a way to get the phone to disconnect once it's checked for new emails? It seems to work this way when using pop, but not with imap.
Is this a bug, intentional or have I done something wrong?

IMAP / Email Filter Not Working

I have an IMAP connection set up to sync with a Groupwise server at my work. It appears to authenticate fine but the email filter on my Pre isn't working. When I set the filter to anything other than "All" (1 day, 3 days, 7 days, etc.), none of my messages show up in the folders on my Pre. However, when I select "All", I receive exactly 1000 old emails, all of which are at least 1 year old. (I know, next step is to clean out the inbox!)
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hi I could receive emails but not send on my iphone 5S after the ios8 update.
Im with blueyonder and following a call to them I had to change the outgoing mail server settings as follows
go to the mail account in settings.
then scroll down to outgoing mail server.
select the server name
then you should have two servers Primary and other Smtp servers. Select the primary.
Now scroll down and delete user name and delete password.
Now change the server port to 25
Press Done at the top of the page
Send yourself a test mail to check if this works.

Sorry to re-post this, my first message somehow got a [solved!] label added to it,, when in fact it has not been solved. I am new at this site, so please forgive me:
I purchased my Palm TX in January 2088. During the month of January, I could go down to my local wireless cafe, log on to the web with Blazer, go to my domain name host and, using Open Webmail, enter my username and password, and get my email. However, since that time, I have never been able to access my email again.
Here's what happens. I open Blazer, go to the same Open Webmail site, enter my username and password, and then I either get an error message, or it says that my password is incorrect. I have checked my password and it is correct. I can use this process on my own computer at home, and on all my friend's computers while I am out of town. It always works. BUt not with my TX.
I also tried usng another mail website (mail to pda?) but just got error messages when I entered my username and password.
I am leaving on a trip in 2 days, and I would really like this to work. Any ideas?
PS- I can get on the web and view sites, it is just the email I cannot retrieve.
I am just using this with Blazr that was built into the Palm TX - Palm Blazer v4.3

The only things I can think to suggest is to clear the history and cookies and if that doesn't work. Hard reset the TX. If the problem continues then it must be some sort of security setting on their site causing the problem.

N97 IMAP email does not notify me

I have searched for an answer to my question and couldn't find it so hopefully some one can help me out.
I have an N97 and an IPhone which I switch between depending on what I'm doing that day. I really prefer the N97, but right now I need the IPhone for certain things. My problem is that I need to be able to manage my Gmail account from both phones. I synced my contacts, calender and email on both phones using exchange which worked fine until I discovered that I was only getting the email on the N97. I then kept the calender and contacts on exchange but switched the email to IMAP. I now receive the email on both phones, but I don't get notifications if I receive a new email even though email notifications are turned on. New emails will show up in my inbox, but I am not notified of them. I want to continue to use the built in messaging on the N97 and I do not have room to add the email widget to the home screen.
So my questions are: Is there a way to get the notifications? Is this even the best set up for what I"m trying to do?

ICloud IMAP email still not working.

I can get to my email via https://www.icloud.com but accessing it with Mail.app still reports that:
"There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “iCloud” or try again.
The server returned the error: The connection to the server “p99-imap.mail.me.com” on port 993 timed out."
I am experiencing this on 2 different macs at the same time.
Anyone else running into this issue even though Apple's System Status page ( http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/systemstatus/ ) reports that "All services are online." as of 10/13/2011 12:08 PDT.
This is an alarming trend.... .Mac launch fails; Mobile Me launch fails; now iCloud...

Mine stopped working from 10am yesterday morning (UK time) and I reset the password a couple of hours later. This still didn't work. I just reset the password again and it's all started working again instantly on my phone. Still to try icloud.com, ipad and macbook as they are at home but its looking good!

PR1.3 Email Issue - Not showing New Email notifica...

if you have updated to the new pr1.3 by OTA (over the air) you may have a problem when email are coming in and not showing the blue circle with the number in it showing how many new or what account they are in.
My finding is that this affected the IMAP email but not POP (i only have 1 pop email account and 4 IMAP and 1 Exchange and it only left my pop unaffected)
To fix this issue, simply open accounts and delete the email account. then create a new account for that email over again and it should now show your "New Message" counts and with the correct email accounts.

When I set automatic email retrieval on my N71 after retrieving email phone stay connected and don’t want to disconnect automatically so i need go to inbox and set disconnect. Its a stupid way of automatic retrieval it suppose to connect, check mail and disconnect. I try it on my N95, same problem. It's spending battery too much. And it’s a big bug.

Or let me re-phrase: How can I have the e-mail client on my E75 to pick up e-mails on the e-mail server all day long and instantly as it works for web-browser or using thunderbird client? As a user I want to turn on my phone in the morning and then select the "connect all" option either on my Wi-Fi network or 3G network and then get my e-mails all day long without having to re-connect every 1/2 hour (in my case 5mn).
I'm using multiple e-mail accounts: my work account (IMAP idle), gmail and windows live.
If I select the "connect all" option it usually connect to only one of the mailbox and never to the three of them.
I usually have to repeat the "connect all" operation 3 times. Why and what (if there is one) is the fix so that the connect all does connect to all your e-mail accounts in one go?
The connect all is an option from the main e-mail screen, where you can see the icons of all your different e-mails accounts and the settings, new and help icons.
Last, it would be good to be able to use Nokia's "destination" for e-mail account. The "destination" feature work with other application and it is very appreciated to prioritise the connection (Wi-fi 1, Wi-fi 2, ... Wi-fi x, 3G) to use.
Any ideas if this will be supported soon?

All my emails stored in my IMAP Email that were stored in my Thunderbird "Profile" are not loading in my Thunderbird Account.

All my emails that were stored in Thunderbird in IMAP don't not load into my Thunderbird Account anymore.
Although I do not use IMAP anymore, and have not used IMAP for the past 7 months (only use POP), all of my old IMAP Emails would automatically load in my Thunderbird Email Software. Several days ago all the IMAP emails not longer are there. I only get a message saying: "
"Alert from account harrison@---------com: full IMAP support is NOT enabled for this account"
My question is ... I haven't been using IMAP for the past 7 months, and everyday all my previously old emails from IMAP was stored in Thunderbird. Now they are gone. Can you help me retrieve my emails. Perhaps they're still saved in my Thunderbird IMAP Profile on my hard drive? ??? I need help retrieving them!! Please help,

Based on the information you provided it appears you had synchronization enabled for your IMAP account. Synchronization means Thunderbird downloads an offline copy of the messages on the server. That is probably the reason why you were able to access those messages until disaster struck.
I can only speculate what may have happened. The most likely scenario would be that for whatever reason Thunderbird did sync with the server. In your case that means to remove all messages from your local disk, because none were on the server anymore.
Just for the records, leaving messages in that IMAP account was extremely thoughtless. You should have moved all your messages off of the server prior to the 'Local Folders' account prior to canceling the IMAP account. In addition accumulation messages in Inbox for several years isn't best practice.
That obviously won't get your messages back. I guess there isn't much you can do, unless you do have a recent backup of your profile.
Have you checked the file Inbox underneath ImapMail/<account name>? That's were your messages are supposed to be. What's the size of the file? If you haven't compacted folders yet, the deleted messages may still be in there. You can open it with a text editor to check. Make sure to create a backup copy of that file before doing anything else.

How to exit email inbox but not disconnect???

It seems as though when you exit the email inbox it will also 'disconnect active mailbox connections'.
I believe this active connection is necessary to receive future email notifications; If I 'Show Open Apps' and navigate to Standby the connection is retained and I receive email notifications. If I 'exit' and break the connection I no longer receive notifications.
So question: How do I exit email without breaking the connection? or how do I set up the connection so that it is always on?
FWIW I have an IMAP email account setup on the phone, with Auto Retrieval set to Email Notifications/Auto Update.

In case other are having this problem: With Outlook.com email, I found that mark email items as Not Junk within Mac Mail had not effect. Subsequent emails from the same sender still went into the Junk folder.
I had to sign on to my Outlook.com email at www.outlook.com website and mark the emails there as Not Junk. Subsequent emails from the same sender than arrived in my Mac Mail Inbox, as desired.

Automatic email retrieval interval ~ E65

Within the email settings on my E65 I only have the option of setting my automatic email retrieval interval to a maximum of 30 minutes.
Why wouldn't you be able to set it much higher like down to 15, 10, 5, or even 1 minute.
This drives me crazy. Does anyone have a workaround?

It's probably not much consolation to you, but if you use imap instead of pop you can reduce the automatic retrieval time to 5mins.

Why will IMAP email not send from Mac OS 10.10.1 Yosemite Mail even though it is configured the same as on my old Macbook (and emails are sending just fine on the old computer)?

I can receive but cannot send IMAP email on my 1&1 mail account from Mac OS 10.10.1 Yosemite Mail on my new Macbook Pro. The account is set up the same port, password, username, server name as on my old Macbook and emails are sending just fine on the old computer.
When I hit send on the new Macbook Pro running Yosemite I get this message:
"The connection to host ... on port 993 failed.
Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent."
It shows the server as (offline)
I've tried erasing and typing in the password. I've tried both checking and unchecking Automatically detect and maintain account settings. Still cannot send.
I also have a Gmail account and it is working...

email service uses an Incoming Server and an Outgoing Server. Mac Mail makes access to the Incoming Server(s) obvious, and hides the settings for the outgoing Server(s). A quick and easy way to get access to the Outgoing Servewr settings is to use:
Window > Connection Doctor ...
... then click on the red light for the Server that is not working for you to see its settings.

It sounds like your Mail application is not checking for mail automatically anymore after updating to 10.10.2. It seems to me that the setting for this may have reset, or changed at some point thereafter so I would check the preferences for the Mail application:
General preferences - Mail Help
Check for new messages
When Mail gets new messages from the mail server. By default, the option is set to Automatically (Mail varies how often it gets messages, based on whether your Mac is plugged into an electrical outlet).
An IMAP account may get messages more frequently if the mail server supports the IDLE command; make sure the option to use it is selected in the account’s Advanced pane in Mail preferences.
If you set the option to Manually, click the Get Mail button in the Mail toolbar to check for messages. (Whenever you click an IMAP or Exchange mailbox, it syncs with the server, and shows new messages.)

Not receiving imap email after ios6 upgrade

I have an iPhone 4S which I upgraded to iOS6 2 days ago. Prior to the upgrade, I had 2 imap email accounts and one pop account set up on my phone that were all working fine. Immediately after the upgrade one of the imap accounts stopped receiving emails (I have tested sending from that account, and it works fine.) When I attempt to retrieve new emails, after the phone tries to download messages, I get the following error message:
Cannot Get Mail. The mail server "mail.[my mail server].com" is not responding. Verify that you have entered the correct account info in Mail settings.
I have checked my settings and they appear to be unchanged (a parallel line of inquiry is to see if my server is actually having problems.) I even changed one, to see if that would make any difference either with the new setting, which I doubted, or once I returned it to the original setting. I have also turned the phone off completely and turned it back on.
Any suggestions?

On your iPad, you may need to follow the steps in this article to make sure your folders are visible:

On your Mac, I am not sure if you have the sidebar enabled, but you can enable it using the steps in the article below. When this is showing, you should see your email account listed near the bottom with a triangle next to it. When the triangle is pointing down, it should show your folders:

I have the same problem. For years I have been able to delete emails from my ipad and have them remain on the server so I can deal with them on the desktop. Now they get deleted from the server when deleted from the ipad, which makes the ipad unless for reading mail.
You answered to delete the email account on the ipad and set up a new one as a pop. I have made many attempts to do that in the incomping mail server "Host Name" field but it always errors out even when the host name is equal to what my desk top has. So I can see no way to change away from IMAP. I started with an ipad 1 and now have an ipad 2.
