Automatic inside folder linking

There are some features which Illustrator doesn't have which are mind boggling (they've been in Freehand since the beginning). One of them is that Freehand (FH) always looked in the folder where the FH file was for its links. Only if a linked doc were not there would it ask for it. I just made the dreadful mistake of changing the name of a folder (in which my Illustrator and linked files were all stored), and behold, it found nothing and wanted me to tediously relink all 200 now 'un-linked' files. Shouldn't any program worth its salt look first within the folder if the path is changed? Otherwise the user and others editing on their computers are locked into the name first given the folder, or each time the file moves to a different computer the user must relink these files. If I'm missing something, I'm sorry, but it certainly isn't obvious if it's there.

If the Illustrator file is loose in a folder with all the linked files, you can move or rename however you like and it will maintain the links. If the linked files are in one folder, which in turn is in another folder with the Illustrator file, if you move or rename that overall folder, and open the AI file, you're asked to Replace, Ignore or Cancel. It seems silly to me that Illustrator can't keep track of this simplest of relative paths to the linked files. At least you only have to Replace and find one of them. If they're all in the same location, Illustrator will slap itself in the forehead and exclaim, "Of course!" and find all the rest.
Interestingly, if the Illustrator file is, say, on your desktop, and the folder full of linked files is buried on a remote server, you can rename the AI file and move it anyplace on your local hard rive and it will still remember the absolute path to where the linked files are.

I have created a forum page with discussionForum layout set.Now, it shows the discussion groups inside it with parent folder link at the top.this parent folder link has some options like view,coolaboration,details etc which I need to customize...
By parent folder I mean like if A has x,y,z discussion groups:
If you click on x then, parent folder link changes to:
A-->x...there is a option menu just besides this link which I need to customize.
Can anyone give a clear idea to this problem??

Pls follow the below steps,
1. Go to sys admin> sys configuration> Knowledgemanagement --> content management -- >user interface.> settings> layout set
2. Search for Discussion layout set and open it.
3. In Collection renderer field, click on the link discussion group bread crumb
4. In the subsequent window, click on the collection command group : discussiongroupbreadcrumbcommandgroup.
5.in the next window, edit the command list field as per your requirement and save.

1. You only need the configarchive if you don't want create all the KM configuration objects mentioned in the guide manually. So, just create the objects mentioned there and you don't need the configarchive
Also, the scenario works also on 2004s.

You can download the trial version (http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html) to convert the PDF back to WORD if you do not have the original. The conversion may not be perfect, but it is typically better than starting from scratch. You may be lucky and get a good result. You might check the settings (in the save screen) to try retain format versus retain text flow. The format version can be a pain to edit since it creates a bunch of text boxes. The flow version may require you to reformat in WORD, but you likely would want to do that anyway.

It sounds that you are running the same iCloud account with two phones. I recommend you to create a different iCloud account and you should be all set.

Moving a folder, Linking between content areas

I have 2 problems:
1) So far we developed all our content in a single content area. We would now like to split the information into multiple content areas. The MOVE or COPY command on the folder only allows me to copy within a content area. I have hundreds of documents to move. Is there any way i can move a folder to a different content area?
2) What is the best way to link a folder from 1 content area to a folder in another content area? I found that the FOLDER LINK ITEM allows me to connect only within a content area.
(I would prefer not to use an URL since the content publishers may not be able to construct complicated paths or the paths may change leading to broken links.)

1) The only way to do this currently is to create an export of the content area, import it back into the portal and remove the duplicate content. We are planning a bulk action feature in a future release that would allow you do to selectively copy/move one or more folders into a new content area.
2) Currently folder links are scoped within a content area; the only option is to link to the folder through a URL folder type. If you use the generated URL that contains the folder ID, you shouldn't run into any problems if the target folder is moved. I have submitted an enhancement request to extend the folder link to 'remote' folders outside of the 'home' content area.

Editing the folder links in DW,FW "Open/Save As" dialog box

i found apps to change the folder links in the left column of my various Windows7 Open/Save As dialog box, but it doesn't affect those in DW,FW. is there a way to do this?

The 'Edit folder' link doesn't appear in content area portlet (URGENT)

Hi! I made three content areas, and published them as portlets in a page. However, when I enter the page as an authorized user, I don't see the 'Edit folder' link on any content area portlet. But if I enter to any of the content area pages with the same user, I see the link
Is this a bug? What could be the reason?

try this...
Edit the page where you added the portlets. Click the edit defaults link next to each of the portlets and scroll down to make sure the show Edit Link checkbox is checked. I don4t see any Edit Link checkbox when I edit the portlet's defaults!!

Hi, I have a big problem. When I browse internet, my iPhone redirect it automatically to different links. most of them are broken links. When I try to stop, web browser or app will be closed. This occur with every web browser, google and apps such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Viber, etc. Why is this ? If I try to open a weblink in a web browser or an app, it will open original link and then redirect to a different web address automatically. And it content nothing. I am confused. Please help.

thanks orangekay for your input. i downloaded both onyx and cocktail and ran them both fully (not at the same time of course) and the problem still persists, pages are still rendering in glyphs. i went in and did the full system with every option checked. still no luck.
also after running the two utilities i've run into a new glitch. when a dialog box appears my pointer slowly moves automatically to the default button that is highlighted. its really strange, i'm not sure if thats a feature or not, but i havent had time to explore the situation.
so you believe it's a font problem? hmm...

Generating Folder Link programatically

I have a content area that is published as a portlet in a page, and i need to have a link (displayed in a diferent portlet) that has the same effect as it was one of the folder links in the content area portlet.
Is it possible to generate a folder link programatically?

You can use direct access URLs if you know the name of the folder: http://portalstudio.oracle.com/help/sblpath.htm
Folders can be accessed through this URL:
http://<hostname:port>/<DAD>/url/folder/<foldername>

Edit Folder link always is visible if Item Level Security is enabled

When Item Level Security is enabled in a folder, it show the 'Edit Folder' link, instead if the user is not authenticated.
Does anybody know how to remove this link???

We to have experienced this behavior. Is this a bug?
The Edit Link generated does not allow the user to "edit" any items, but shows the Administration link. This is not a good thing. This makes using Item Level Security very difficult, from the standpoint of User Interface and confusion.
We are looking into creating a portlet to dynamically generate an "Edit Folder" link to replace the current one. However, we have doubts this will work.

Folder links in content area not working

hello
i have created a content area with portal 3.0.7.6.2. The problem i have now is that when i click on a folder link, the rendered
page is always the home page of the content area.
Did anybody met the same problem ? does any one has the solution ?

apologies if this has been asked already.
Need to hide the customize link in Portlet and edit folder link in folder/content area. Better yet, would like to give selective access to these, based on user group (or other acl). I am on 3.0.7. Currently, hiding the header (or banner) is the only way of not showing these links. Do later versions have the same problem ? or has this issue been resolved.

I had similar problem in 3.0.9
I agree with Karthic that looks like a caching problem.
In the folder portlet, I enabled the Edit option. If a user originally had the privileges to do edit folder, then the folder shows the Edit option.
If later I remove the privileges so that the user only have view content privileges,
then the Edit option still shows up in the folder portlet and if the user clicks on the "Edit"link, then a message like insufficient privileges error comes up.
FYI i don't use any caching for pages.

Finder automatically changing folder names...

Finder is automatically changing folder names... say I have two folders side by side titled:
Financial
Miscellaneous
Sometimes, and for no apparent reason, the "financial" folder will, when I click on it, change to "miscellaneous" and will show the exact same files no matter which one of the two I click on. I know for a fact that each folder holds two entirely different sets of documents...
What is going on here? How do I stop it from doing this?

We are experiencing this issue on both ppc and intel machines and it appears to be isolated to the Finder as the terminal reports properly. The commonality is network shares, it does not seem to matter if they are nfs automounted from solaris, smb mounted from a linux box, etc etc, nor does it matter if an admin user manually mounts these shares, the issue persists. I, like a previous poster on this subject was skeptical given the symptoms but kept an open mind and then witnessed this anomaly for myself. We can now re-create it at will. I have narrowed it down to the 10.4.9 update and it continues through 10.4.10, in my testing, the issue does not exist in 10.4.8. The Finder version changes from 10.4.6 in OSX version 10.4.8 to Finder version 10.4.7 in OSX version 10.4.9, the Finder versions do not coincide with OS versions. Swapping in the older Finder did not solve the issue so there are other culprits involved. It may not even be the Finder at issue, the issue may reside in the way OSX mounts shares and simply manifests in the Finder. Odd behavior to say the least, one good thing is that while the data appears to have gone away, it's actually safe and sound and a reboot/logout-login resolves the issue. Deleting .DS_Store, force re-launching the Finder does not seem to help nor does deleting caches, preferences, etc, the only solution I have found is to revert to 10.4.8.
