Automatic language switch [Angry poster]

I've just finished my Spanish homework in my 2013 Microsoft Word, and it wasn't pleasant. I study Biochemistry along with English, Spanish, German and my native language. What gets me worked up and really has me table-flipping angry, is that every time I
hit 'enter', the language flips over to Danish.
This means I have to stare at daunting red lines in every sentence, SELECT
it when I'm done, and flip it over to Spanish again, writing in Spanish is worst, because of the way sentences using question/exclamation marks are written, it can't function without the Word dictionary co-operating. Word nowadays has no limits to
how helpful it thinks it is, so of course it'll do these small changes here and there.
Now of course I've read up on it, and reached some kind of solution, which is changing my keyboard to whichever language I'm using. You might argue that this is the way things are most convenient for others, but I'm not asking for much here. I'm asking for
Word to NOT change the language every time I hit enter, and that shouldn't mean having to learn where all the necessary symbols are,
for every language I speak. I have no idea who came up with this idea or concept, but it's the stupidest and most crippling mistake in any software I've ever purchased. I have no idea how it's supposed to work for international students such
as myself.
So what I'm looking for is a way to select the language in a Word document, and have it stay that way, until I change it. I'd love it if Word could figure out that I'm trying to switch languages after 3 or 4 words, and back again if I was citing, but I know
what to expect. I'm already pissed as it is with these blue lines telling me that English can only be written one way. Let's see how big an explosion comes from the red lines turning on me as well.

I'm not quite sure if I have understood you correctly. What do you mean by "select the language in word", do you mean the proofing language?
If yes, I would suggest you clear the "Detect language automatically" option, in the Language dialog box (Review tab>Language>Set Proofing Language). This will help to prevent Word from changing
the language.
Hope this is what you want.

It seems to be related to some problem of spacing of the text field, since the Italian translation of "automatic graphics switching" ("cambio automatico scheda grafica") is visually longer than English. I also tried the English language and that problem does not occur.

  • Mountain Lion, Automatic Graphics switching not working.

I have noticed when upgraded to Mountain Lion that my automatic graphics switching is not working as i would expect ..When i start Chrome my discrete graphics Intel 3000 turned off and all i get is AMD HD grapchics without using any graphic intense proccess please help here is my screen shots :
1: as you will see i have 1 tap open and nothing on the background except ACM
2: after 10 minutes writing on this post
         PLEASE HELP.

I'm not sure that the dialog box indicates which graphics are currently being used?
Also, you have Google Chrome running.  It's possible that Chrome invokes the discrete GPU... they acknowledged they had some code in Chrome that was activating the GPU and actually causing kernel panics on the new Retina MacBook Pros recently...

  • 10.6.7 update changed desktop image blue Automatic Graphics Switching OFF

Desktop image changes to default blue whenever you Untick Automatic graphics switching or starting cs4 or other graphics application that uses the AMD graphics or high performance graphics card. Will not change to any other image until you retick the automatic graphics switching. Could be a fault or just Apples way of saying your now using the more powerfull graphics card HOWEVER when you switch back or Tick Auto Graphics Switching it does NOT revert to the image you had.
Anyone else experiencing this since 10.6.7 update.

(Oops, time expired on editing my previous post while I had breakfast with the kids.)
Apple's OS Installer seems picky about which disks it will install onto. It seems to require a disk with an active version of the OS. I've never been able to use Apple's Installer to put OS X onto a blank external Firewire drive, for instance. I'm not sure if it will update any external FW drive, though I can't say that's for certain. I expect the same limitation may be true for attached USB2 drives. Panther installers were picky this way too.
What I'm looking for is a clear explanation of what Apple's Installer needs to see to make the red exclamation mark go away. It has a very concrete idea about what's an acceptable target drive. Unfortunately, not knowing exactly what it's looking for, I'm at a disadvantage to give it what it wants.
I'm nearly to the point of calling AppleCare. It seems a bit ridiculous that I'm having so much trouble getting the OS Installer put the original OS that came with my CD-Mini onto my CD-Mini's hard drive. But maybe there's a trick to it I just haven't tried yet.
BTW, I was using this CD-Mini almost exclusively as a media player below my plasma TV. I'd like to be able to watch some EyeTV recorded shows this week. Right now this CD-Mini is little more than a paperweight due to lack of a workable OS.
    Thanks again.

  • Lenovo TVAC Automatic Location Switching

    Hello All,
I am in the process of creating a global image for our company and we are completely lenovo migrated.
We install TVAC 5.31 as a software in the image deployment process and used the Profile manager to export and import profiles. But the Automatic Location Switching Priority for profiles seems to be not constant or not as it when we exported the profile. the image is already deployed in more than 500 machines now and we want the priority order of the profiles to be as we designed...
I tried Changing the priority from registry "HKLM\SOFTWARE\LENOVO\Access Connections\Roaming\WLPriorityList" but nothing works...the moment I click location switching, the settings are revised..
Is there any way I can change these priority of profiles from registry or any scripts?
Thanks for your help in advance !!!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi,
I have just now tested the change of the list in Location switching and it's working like a charm.
There is one situation, where the changes, that I made to the location switching were not saved and that was, when during I changed the registry was AC GUI started.
Here is what I have done:
    - Closed AC GUI
    - started registry
    - go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lenovo\Access Connections\Roaming\WLPriorityList]
    -  changed the dword:000000xx entries, as I want  to have it
    - close the registry <just to be sure I press F5 >
    - start AC and the Location Switching list is configured as I have changed it in the registry.
I have tested this situation also using a .reg file where I have used the same procedure as above and it worked too.
    Maybe this might help.
Let me know, wheter this make any change to your situation.
If possible, post here your steps, that you performed with the registry

  • "Automatic graphics switching" new option on i5/i7 Snow Leopard for MBP

Well, I finally upgraded my old 2006 (week 10) MacBook Pro. I'm using a MacBookPro6,2 (i5, mid 2010) with 8G of RAM and 500G of drive space. One of the things I noticed is a new Energy Saver option:
    *[x] Automatic graphics switching*
*Your computer will automatically switch between graphics modes for better battery life.*
Interesting, is this a silent "fix" for the Snow Leopard battery problem? This option is not available on pre-i5/i7 MacBook Pro laptops. At least not on the 3 dozen that arrived for one of our clients:
    http://donmontalvo.com/apple/mbpbattery_issue/i5_new_batteryoption.jpg
Separate thread...didn't want this to be lost in the 1000+ post thread where Google'ers are claiming the problem is strictly related to old batteries that need to be replaced. It doesn't look like this fix will help pre-i5/i7 MacBook Pro users.
    Don

The new Automatic Graphics Switching feature has been a headache for many users who must run on battery power, because there are many applications that trigger a switch to the higher-powered (and more power-hungry) GPU for no good reason. Many of them barely even use the GPU, and switching to the high-performance GPU does no earthly good when those apps are in use, but it runs the battery down faster anyway. Fortunately, Cody Krieger has written a nifty utility that enables full manual control of which GPU is in use: gfxCardStatus.

  • [Solved]Control of automatic GPU switching in Linux 3.13

I'm using the Linux Kernel 3.13 of the testing repository, I have a laptop with Hybrid Graphics ATI/Intel:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Whistler [Radeon HD 6730M/6770M/7690M XT] (rev ff)
I use the vgaswitcheroo method to shutdown the discrete GPU, it generally show this:
    0:IGD:+:Pwr:0000:00:02.0
    1:DIS: :Off:0000:01:00.0
But with the New Kernel Feature Automatic GPU Switching I can't shutdown the Discrete GPU of my Hybrid Graphics System, I got this output:
    0:IGD:+:Pwr:0000:00:02.0
    1:DIS: :DynPwr:0000:01:00.0
I have searched for the power_dpm_state in /sys/class/drm for change to "battery" mode but it file doesn't exist (With the Kernel 3.12 I can set up DPM to "battery" mode)
I don't want to use the Discrete GPU on Linux to save energy and with the DynPwr I got about 60 ͦ C
How Can I set up my Hybrid Graphics Cards for reduce the temperature?
    Thanks!

clearly seems to be DSDT bug - a bug in your notebook's low-level firmware. It's nearly insolvable.
You may  try to update BIOS, or decompose@recompile DSDT by yourself.
I have not succeeded in the latter task, though in my case it just can't remember brightness between reboots and lockups GPU if I dare to switch it.
By the way, have you seen the Lenovo S540 wiki page on ArchWiki? It suggests to disable modesetting in intel videocard ( kernel parameter intel.modeset=0 means exactly that).
And I can't say anything about stack trace (!) in your dmesg. Maybe it's related to above intel modesetting.

    Bios is latest available!
I'll have a look at disabling Intel nomodeset and test later or tomorrow and report back. (This is a dual boot uefi machine booting via rEFInd)
Edit: booting the 3.13.7 kernel with intel,modeset=0 gives the same blank screen on graphical boot but the kernel loads fine - access vis ssh to downgrade the kernel to 3.13.6 and boot with the same parameter works fine though. So there remains a problem with the graphical boot for kernel .13.7

  • How to create automatic Transfer Order for posting change delivery mvt.321?

    Hi,
We are using HU with WM functionality; While posting stocks after UD, the system creates a posting change delivery instead of directly posting the stock to unrestricted stock from quality stock.
Now that we have to process the ourbound delivery bu creating a transfer order and confirming it and also do a Post Goods Issue against delivery then only the system posts the stock into unrestricted stock.
Our client doesn't want to go thro' these process steps. They would like the stock to be posted to unrestricted automatically after UD stock posting (movement type 321). Is there a way out to automatically process the posting change delivery in the background including Transfer order creation and confirmation and PGI please?
    Thank you,
    Regards,
    Madhavkrishnaa.

    Pls see the customizing.

  • Automatic graphic switch via Apple Script

    hi community,
I would like to change the "Automatic graphics switching" (tick on / tick off) via an Apple Script. I made the following script and it works, except with line "click chckbox 2". Here it ticks the box "Show battery status in menu bar". With "click checkbox 1" it takes the "Lock-Button".
I would be glad if anybode could tell me the right code for ticking the checkbox "automatic graphics switching" via Apple Script.
    Thanks a lot
PS: Yes I know that tool gfx Status, but I wanna do this via Apple Script.
    tell application "System Preferences"
      activate
set current pane to pane "com.apple.preference.energysaver"
              delay 0.5
              tell application "System Events"
                        tell process "Systemeinstellungen"
                                  tell window "Energie sparen"
      click checkbox 2
                                            delay 0.5
                                  end tell
                        end tell
              end tell
      quit
    end tell
    quit

    Hello
You may try this. It works with MacBook Pro 2010 under 10.6.5.
    tell application "System Preferences"
set current pane to pane id "com.apple.preference.energysaver"
    end tell
    tell application "System Events"
        tell process "System Preferences"
            tell window 1

  • Language switched from English to Danish

When my wife first attached her iPhone to her Mac (running iTunes 9), the language switched from English to Danish. After syncing, she reset the language back to English. But why? A known problem?
I did the same thing with my iPhone and Mac, and did not see anything unusual.

I believe this is a very unusual occurrence. It is a computer after all and computers have 'glitches' every once in a while - chalk it up to that.
BTW, I used to live in Bucks County... Riegelsville and Perkasie to be exact. We moved from Perkasie a couple years ago.

  • Automatic language change in Windows version

So far the only answer I read is to REINSTALL the broser??? Come on!!
Windows is finally coming out of the stone age on what concerns multiligual users, something that mac os does for ages. And Firefox for Mac actually does language switch transparently.
When are you planing to add this feature to the windows (7/8) version? In this day and age, specially in Europe, speaking 2 or 3 languages, more than desired is a NEED!!

You can safely install a different language version of Firefox on top of your current one. You won't lose your data or settings.

If you want to switch the Firefox interface between several languages,<br><br>
    1. Install a language pack.

    2. Either use the Locale Switcher extension, or manually edit the ''general.useragent.locale'' preference in about:config and restart Firefox.

  • Automatic triggering of transfer posting while usage decision

    dear all,
My client wants to put automatic trigger of Transfer posting as soon as he finished the Quality inspection from the goods returns from the customer .can anybody help in this problem.
    regards,

You need to define a Follow-up fucntion in customisation (under Insp lot completion). Thi sfollow-up fucntion will have the fucntion module which does the Transfer posting.
Then you need to assign the follow-up fucntion in the UD code of the selected set in QS51.

  • How do I stop Automatic Graphics Switching setting automatically reverting

    Macbook Pro 15" Mid 2010
    OS X 10.7.4
I have a recurring problem where my screen (built in or external monitor/projector) will just go blank at random times. It is an unrecoverable situation and I have to do a hard power reset to get working again.
After testing several theories without success I struck upon one that showed promise. The blanking tended to occur when I was in Lion Fullscreen mode, or using a gesture to start expose - so I figured maybe it was a graphics switching issue.
So I went into System Preferences and disabled 'Automatic graphics switching'. I then ran trouble free for several days (I was typically crashing 1-2 times a day)
Then several days later it happened again and I thought I was back to square one. However, a colleague suggested I check the graphic switching setting to see if something had changed it back, and sure enough it was re-enabled.
Now I find myself in a constant battle with the system to keep disabling the 'Automatic graphics switrhing' in System Preferences.
I have tried setting it and locking it, but sooner or later it reverts.
I need to know if it is possible to force it to stay disabled.

Nice pace both of you - cheers.
I have downloaded and installed now (cos I implicitly trust all links in forum responses )
Oddly enough, since typing my original question this morning (local time) and installing this little utility this afternoon, the setting had once more reverted to 'enabled' - when I selected discrete in the app it crashed my macbook again, but slightly differently from before in that I got a blue screen (felt like windows again ) rather than a blank powered off one.
Anyway, I have restarted now, and set it again - I'll stick with it for a few days and return with likes/+1/stars etc if it all pans out.
    Cheers again.

  • Limitation of Access Connections' automatic location switching

    Hi there,
The automatic location switching feature in Access Connections on my Lenovo T61p seemed a great idea as it allowed me to automatically switch from wired to wireless connectivity as my laptop got taken in and out of its docking station.
However I have now turned it off for Ethernet (wired) connections because it disconnects me from the internet whenever I plug in my phone to sync it with my laptop. Apparently the phone sets up a LAN connection over USB which triggers an unwanted location switch.
This means I must now manually turn on and off wireless connectivity as I take my laptop in and out of its docking station which is inconvenient.
If Ethernet location switching could be set up to ignore (i.e. not switch to) a particular MAC address without blocking its connectivity my problem would be solved.
    BR,
    Mark

I found from another bulletin board that ethernet location switching seemed to work OK with Access Connections 3.82, but stopped working with releases after that, and from my experience still does not work with 5.97
    http://www.thinkpads.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=38514
    Two questions:
    1. Does anyone know if Access Connections 3.82 works with Windows 7?
    2. If so, where could I get a copy?  The oldest version on the Lenovo website appears to be 5.50
I will refrain from commenting on the necessity of going back to such an old version to recover basic functionality for this utility......
