Automatic page start for LW 16/600 PS

I am running G3 with OS9.2
I have a LW 16/600 PS that when turned on, automatically sends a page with a solid black of ~4x8 inches.
How can I turn this off? I don't have the software that came with the printer... where can I get it?

Do you have the program Apple Printer Utility available on that machine? It would have come with the OS, not with the printer's software; and was usually located in the folder named CD Extras on the OS 9 Install CD.
In OS 9, Apple Printer Utility can be used to set/address many printer-specific features, such as whether to auto-print a startup page or a test page; give the printer a unique name; and some other things.

[SOLVED ]Automatic Xsession starting for two users not working

Trying to have two Xsession running in the same time, started automatically after login on two consoles. When I start the second manually at tty8, it is running flawless. When trying to do the same with .xinitrc, it is completelly ignored and still talks bullshit about Xsession running for display 0.
Make me feel there is some configuration file somewhere where it should not definitelly exist which takes controll everytime but when starting Xsession manually…

Yep exactly, computer for lames, the second user is just for english-speaking, first one will be for native Czech. As soon as this will work, I will even set automatic logon with mingetty for both users.

Automatic page resizing for a DPS articles

Hello all
Am working on an iPad app, horizontal dimension, and the pages have a number of different vertical sizes.
Is there a way for the vertical size to be set to auto fit for the contents??
I have master page items at the top of the page, and they disappear when I amend the depth of the page.
I could use the liquid layout feature?? Is this the best way to achieve this??

Some thoughts:
Instead of using hard-pixel-measures, use percentages for widths so your page elements will readjust for viewport size differences. (don't say you can't do it "because"...if you want to maintain a modicum of similarity to your original design, you just can't use hard pixel measures because they won't shrink when you need them to. That's the coward's way out.)
Use floats on the left if you absolutely must have hard measures. Everything else will flow up to the right. Insert the divs with float: left; (they'll need to have declared widths...not necessarily pixel widths; could be percentages...) just before the material you want on the right.
If you want to look really savvy, you won't design for 1000 pixels, you'll design for 850 or 900 pixels that will expand gracefully (and, ideally, shrink gracefully...). You don't want to be stuck showing your page on someone else's monitor/system setup (that you have no control over) and have it hang off the side of the viewport and not look terrific. VOE here...voice of experience.
Look up basic tutorials on using float...you should find some right on the Adobe.com site. You'll be amazed at how good they'll make you look right off the bat.
In fact, if you have not designed pages in 10 years or so, you should treat yourself to a whole lot of modern Dreamweaver tutorials. Cruise the Adobe.com site and look at Adobe TV. If you can't afford to upgrade your Dreamweaver right now (if you are using CS2...is that even Dreamweaver?) do the thirty-day demo and then find a way to upgrade/buy it. You'll amaze yourself at how it's changed in a couple of versions's time.
Bone up on CSS. Even if you used it 10 years ago (was it even around that long ago?) it is even better now, especially used in concert with Dreamweaver CS4.

I need to start the page numbers over for a new section in a document (i.e. first six pages are roman numerals, next 70 need to be in arabic numerals), but for some reason, the automatic page numbering has started over at number 3 instead of 1. Help!!

No idea why it's doing this.
You should be able to fix it by using Insert > Page Number, rather than 'Automatic Page Numbering.'
Set Page Numbers in your second section to "Start at:" 1

It doesn't have to be that complicated, Verizon iPhones come unlocked, just tell VZ you're going on Holiday/Traveling and suspend the service, no need to pay for service if you're not going to be using it. Pick up local SIM cards in the countries of your choosing, pop them in, re-activate iMessage and you're set!
I recommend getting a SIM card from the Three network in England, they have great EU roaming rates and free like-home roaming in Italy.
Set your phone's region to match the country you're in, it'll save from some headaches when calling local/international numbers.
To answer your questions,
1. If you choose not to have a local SIM card, it is good to keep your phone in Airplane mode to save battery.
2. Make sure the two iPhones have different names to reduce sync/restore issues.
3. If husband has an iPhone also, you can chat with iMessage/Facetime, just give him heads up about the new number you'll have. Otherwise, use Whatsapp if he's got an Android. You can activate Whatsapp with your American number or the international number if you choose to get a SIM in Europe.
Also, Get the MagicJack app and/or Google Hangouts, both of those apps provide you with free calling to the USA and Canada using any internet connection. Google Voice is another good way to SMS across the seas.

What is the Firefox start page looking for when it tells me I'm not using the most current version and need to update Firefox? The check for updates button says my version is up to date, but the start page disagrees. Is there a setting I need to adjust?

Okay: My start page is the one Google provides: http://www.google.ca/firefox?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official and frequently it has a note underneath the search box that "You're not on the latest version of Firefox. Upgrade today to get the best of the Web!" But when I check for updates on the About Firefox window, it says my Firefox is up to date. So what is the start page looking for? Is there some setting I need to adjust? Or is this a Google marketing ploy to get me to switch to Chrome?

I tentatively think I have the solution; this is for when the session id value 'thing', in about:config, referred to in other answers is already on the default/rest state.
I am assuming, I don't what to imply certainty in-case there is a value wrong in our browsers, that the problem stems from the fact that our homepage is no longer the default for Firefox.
So, go to 'Options'>'General' and delete the homepage. This will reset it to the new address, which is 'about:home'.

Deactivate automatic content migration for Web Page Composer (WPC) 2

on our production system we are using at the moment Web Page Composer for SAP NetWeaver 7.0. Soon we would like to upgrade the system to release 7.3
We have now already set up the content for the new Web Page Composer on a pre-production system. After the production system is upgraded to the new release, it is planned that we will transport the content for the new Web Page Composer from the pre-production to the production system.
As far as I know, the content of the old Web Page Composer gets automatically migrated during the upgrade of the production system. Due to the reason we will the use content of the pre-production system, the automatic migration step is not necessary anymore during the upgrade.
Is there any configuration option that allows us to disable the automatic migration of old Web Page Composer content?

Regarding the feedback of the SAP support, it is not possible to deactivate the automatic content migration for the Web Page Composer.

Automatic menu tree for app pages

Is there a way to generate an automatic menu tree for all the pages in an application?
The index Carl's app has at http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=11933:5 seems to be manually maintained. Add a page to the app, add it to that list.
It would be really nice to have a way to have a TOC (Table of Contents) or Index page for an app that would automatically pick up any new/updated/deleted pages in an application and keep the menu tree current.
I guess this goes back to the (already discussed) request to expose views into the Apex metadata tables that we could use to build pages like these. It could take the same approach as the handful of views that are already there (htmldb_collections, htmldb_application_files, etc) i.e. the view already puts in a predicate to restrict the data returned to the currently logged in workspace/sgid.

"405764", yes, I agree that I need to tell Apex how the pages are related, that's kind of my point. There is no place the current version to indicate this to the App Builder (and neither are the relevant metadata tables/views exposed).
I guess the best way (at this time) is to maintain the intra-page relationships in my own little metadata table and build a hierarchical menu tree/page off of it.
But given how easy everything else is in Apex, this seems like a omission, that's all!
Similar to how Version 2.2 added the Access Control feature where it maintains some security related data in a set of tables and uses that to build a dynamic security framework, it could maintain these intra-page relationships in a set of tables and give us a out-of-the-box hierarchical menu tree.

Automatic page numbering not working in book files

Hi. Using CS3, I have successfully created a book in the past, where the dialog box of the book file shows consecutive page numbers for each file.
e.g file 1 1-4 (indicating 4 pages, starting on page 1)
file 2 5-22 (indicating 18 pages, starting on page 5) etc.
Files automatically renumber if I insert pages, etc.
This next book I am creating has two problems:
1. the book file dialog box shows
file a 1-4 (indicating 4 pages, starting on page 1)
file b 1-6 (indicates 6 pages - STARTS ON PAGE 5 AS IS IS SUPPOSED TO, in some cases - see problem 2).
I've followed the protocol below:
For the first document, I select "start page numbering at" and enter "1". For the rest of the files, I select the automatic page numbering radio button.
Why won't the dialog box reflect, for file b, pages being 5-11 as it is supposed to? This will get very confusing as the document gets larger.
2. I created a document by resaving an initial file as a new file in order to create additional documents, keeping the same master but changing content. Even with the automatic page numbering radio button selected, some of these files start on the wrong page (e.g. 5 when the file is supposed to start on 12), after I select Update Page and Section numbers from the book dialog drop-down. I can't figure out what may forcing an override of this page numbering and am looking for a pointer in the right direction...thank you,

I am having the same exact problem as Erin. The page numbers don't even get updated correctly on the documents within the book.
I'm using InDesign CS3 5.0.3 on Win XP.
For the first document in the book, "Start Page Numbering at:" is set to "1." "Chapter Number:" is set to 1.
For the second and third+ documents in the book, "Automatic Page Numbering" is selected, as is "Continue from Previous Document in the Book."
In the Book panel, all documents show page "1-x". When I open the second and third+ documents, the page numbers all start at page 2.
Any ideas? Please tell me this is a documented bug because it's driving me crazy.

Is there anyway to create a template that has automatic page numbering

We have a template that we have to create, each page on the template has to have a page number. We do a lot of edits and the pages change for example the page may start out as page 1 and after editing it is page 10. Are there any codes I could use that would automatically number and renumber the pages.

Some web pages start to load then just "blank out"

When I go to some of the www.foxnews.com articles/web pages, the pages starts to load, then blinks, and starts to load again then goes blank. I went to the Actions window on the top most menu bar and saw that this is the last thing loaded. So I am guessing that the last thing shown as being loaded is causing the page to go blank. Any ideas as to why this is happening? I have updated both flash and shockwave players to the newest version. All Apple software is up to date.

Hi readytogo. welcome to the HP Forums. I am not sure exactly what you mean. You say Facebook loads automatically in Internet Explorer (IE). Does this mean, when you first open IE, that Facebook opens? Or do you mean when you turn your computer on, it loads Facebook without being told to? Or are you saying that it is remembering your Facebook login information?

PyTyle 2: On-demand automatic/manual tiling for EWMH compliant WM's

Hello all!
I'd like to announce the availability of my second version of PyTyle, which is a complete re-write.
PyTyle 2 can be installed along side PyTyle 1. But only one can be running at the same time.
PyTyle is a tiling manager that works with EWMH compliant window managers (like Openbox and KWin) to provide functions for tiling windows. Both Xmonad and Musca have influenced the feature set. Some of the key features include, but are not limited to:
* On-demand tiling on a per workspace per monitor basis. Tile workspace 2 while workspace 0 is left in a floating model. Or, if you have multiple monitors, tile one screen but not the other.
* Automatic layouts, including the classic "Vertical" and some new additions as well. Based on Xmonad.
* Manual tiling -- this is new! Create your own layout on the fly. Based on Musca. I consider this aspect of PyTyle the least stable, though.
* Uses the new XCB library (or, more aptly, xpyb)
* Much better support for undecorated windows--including drawing borders (like Xmonad).
* Drag and drop windows to other positions in any tiling layout.
* Auto-detection of any panels (i.e., windows that set struts) even on multi-monitor displays.
* Move windows to and from a floating state when the workspace its on is in tiling mode.
* A robust configuration file that allows one to change all keybindings, a multitude of options, and layout specific settings. (i.e., border color/size, ignore certain windows, margins, padding). Options can be set based on workspace, monitor, and tiler (and any combination).

Execution
After installation, simply run
pytyle2
on the command line.
Then press Alt + a.
Configuration
After you have started PyTyle for the first time, a new configuration directory should appear in your XDG_CONFIG_HOME directory (usually ~/.config/) called pytyle2. Inside this directory is config.ini. All of the configuration options are stored there. I haven't really documented the options yet, so your guess will have to do at the moment.

PyTyle 2 is still highly beta. I've developed it on Openbox, and tried to maintain parity with KWin at the same time. I haven't tested it with any other window manager yet. You should be golden if you're running Openbox or KWin. However, I recommend that any and all composite settings be turned off before using PyTyle... You don't have to, but it can be a bit ugly if you don't. See for yourself :-)
Also, I'm closing out my first semester in grad school at the moment, so my replies in the next week or so might be a bit sparse. After that though, I'll pick back up with development/bug fixing.
